This is the original plan left for reference purposes. Scroll down to see the updated version:

This is a plan of the military that the Democratic Republic of Praetonia hopes to create. Of course for reasons of national security, the figures shown here are merely approximations and the plan will doubtless be altered somewhat between now and its completion. We feel that although giving out this infromation may pose a security risk, the benefits of sharing the information with our neighbours (mainly in the form of comments and advice) will outweig these risks. Note that almost none of the hardware (tanks, helicopters, ships etc) has been built or indeed designed, but we plan to produce high quality equiptment, to make up for the small size of our possible military.

Thanks in advance

It's certainly interesting, and I think it's all right, if your economy can support it. I think your economy would need to be at least 'strong' to sustain it.

My econ is 'reasonable'. Perhaps I will lose a division or two. However, bear in mind that only around 50% are actually active troops being paid governmnet salaries for being in the military. The other 50% are mainly support staff (who work in departments that would still be there no matter the military size) and reservists (who have jobs that are not anything to do with the army).

Anyway thanks for the advice. Ill probably update it when I get mor comments.

Realisticlly i think that 2% is a little high level of mobilisation for a country of your size and economic strength.Thats a little too close tobeing world war recruitment levels.Less than 1% is more likely. As for designing your own equipment ,that may be a little adventurous for a while at least.Firstly you should purchase equipment from one of the many storefronts before you think about bulding your own machinery.

Otherwise your layout seems well organised and thought out.

Thanks for the tips, Im making an updated version now. About the designing own equiptemnt issue I was planning on using other's military equiptment for now (and what is left from the old Praetonian military) and then get round to designing the rest in (NS) years to come.

Your organisation seems good but perhaps could be made a little more flexable by adding in another couple of layers and increasing the size of a divsion to 15,000men (roughly the level of manpower msot people assoiate with a divsion sized force)
you might want to go for:
5 squads=platoon=50men
5 platoons=company=250men
5 companies= regiment=1250men
4 regiments= brigade=5000men
2-4brigades= divsion= 10-20,000men

I would also suggest amlagamting your armor divsions into your infatry forces(likely a necessity with larger disvions) to create mechanised or ready divsions. Not all of your forces have to be part of a divsion a number of independent brigades and regiments are useful particularly light infantry brigades and marine units.

Oh and mixing mechanised infatry and leg infantry within the same paltoon might not be a good idea, keep you mech inf with your tanks.

this is purely my own opinion so feel free to ignore it.
