19-04-2004, 05:58
My thread for any updates on the RP status of the new nation, Wolatar.

04/19/04- General Oochy released a note, that Wolatar plans to make major millitary moves with in a week.

04/19/04- Any craft from other nations entering it's airspace will be shot down. No questions asked. SAM sites have been set up and are clear to fire at will.

what about civillian planes? Commercial planes? Private planes? Your own military planes?
19-04-2004, 06:01
OOC: All are targets except my own craft.

What if the airplane is made of paper?

This is just asking for a larger nation to run roughshod over your AA defenses.

OOC: Bring them on... I like being pounded.

Let's try to keep it IC in here :)

"What you shoot down a fleet of paper airplanes?"

No. At this time paper airplanes under 10 feet are not targets.

Ministry of Defense asks:

How about planes made of cardboard under 10 feet in length? Will they be shot down?

What about hangliders over 10 ft in length?
19-04-2004, 06:14
IC: Under the same rules... Although we do not see this as a threat.

Any large craft will be attacked.

OOC: LOL funny, but let's try to get a real RP going.

OCC: Oh, it is serious.

Official Message from the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Intelligence

We will be sending 100 unmanned remote controlled cardboard planes over Wolatarian airspace. As has been indicated by Wolatar, they will not be shot down.

*airdrops battalion of mannequins in gliders*

ooc: actually, you do know that you are a young nation, with a small military and very limited air defenses. can your nation actually handle, oh, let's say, a wing of b-2's bombing your cities? highly unlikely. grow and develop before you try to wage war.

Offical statment: ANY CRAFT POSSING A THREAT WILL BE SHOT DOWN.

//WX-4m Deltas are in the air on CAP.

OOC: I know, I like being occupied and blasted... Always have... ;)

You will not shoot down our cardboard planes. They are completely unarmed and are less than 10 feet in length, as you specified.

I would think that mannequins and unmanned cardboard planes hardly qualify as a "threat".
19-04-2004, 06:24
OOC: Unarmed is fine.

IC: //Reports of small aircraft in the area, but not of any size that would pose a threat. General Oochy sits in his office at control in Woltar City.

Semi-secret IC:

The Ministers of Defense and Intelligence sit at a large table look at surveillance pictures that are being beamed back from cardboard planes flying over Wolatarian airspace.

The pictures:

And the kicker-

"It's surprising that they are allowing our planes over their country." the Intelligency Minister says.

"Certainly so, but I'm not complaining. This will give us invaluable information increase the Wolatarian goverment turns hostile." Defense Minister Melville says while looking over the thousand of images being sent back to Hamptonshire.

As part of a demonstration for an aerospace tech conference (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=138557&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=120&sid=edc49489c0813e66fd46a8a0360535ca), Sileetris will attempt to send one of its new RA-42 hypersonic high priority target ground attack drones through Wolatarian System's airspace.

A Valkir supersonic bomber tows the sleek drone fighter to high speeds so it can activate it's scramjet engine. The drone pulls off of its clamp and pulls sharply down, accelerating quickly to its mission speed of mach 5.5. The Valkir bomber turns around before entering Wolatarian airspace as the drone begins its quest.

OOC: This thing is like a ground hugging cruise missile on speed, it is very fast and smart enough to dodge missiles, and it typically flies lower than 5,000 ft. We will not attempt to attack any targets, just go from one side of the country to the other.

"Alpha Flight, Crystal Star. New threat bering 2-0-2. Speed mach five. Intercept. ROE is green"

8 WX-4m Wolatarian Fighters turn and engage the missile with high speed Air-To-Air WH-223 missiles.

Oochy Control goes on full alert and another flight is scrambled.

100 miles outside the Wolatrian borders, 2 Valkir bombers waited, one on either side of the country, for the drone's return. It would only take the drone 3-5 minutes to cross the country without too much interference from Wolatrian forces. It was hoped that they would have no time to scramble effective air support in time to catch it.

The drone of course was unaware of all that careful planning and tactical measures, it knew its mission and flew with predatory efficiency. At the moment it was flying at 2100 ft over a mountain range that tended towards 2000 ft elevations. Its attention shifts to 8 fighters, not really incoming, but doing as best they could to line up a shot with their missiles. The drone consults its satellite imagery maps and plots several loops into canyons, loops that would kill anyone under normal circumstances, but it was immune to such weaknesses. Its primitive conciousness leaned on the button to begin evasive actions and continued monitoring the fighters.

"We have finished mapping over 80% of the country, Minister."
"Excellent work General," Defense Minister Melville says while look at the maps,"and to think that they have let us map their country. Look at the detail we are getting."
"Yes," the shadowy Intelligence Minister says, "it was quite foolish to allow us to fly over their country with so many observation planes. Quite foolish."
