I have come the realization that Tappee relies to much on it’s naval forces, and have not developed it’s Air Force the way it should have. Up until this point our Entire Air Force has been almost atmospheric fighter, not dual role fighter.
So with the we have sat down and complete redesigned our Air Force, as well as the entire structure of our military. It will take us some time until we can completly replace our current Air Force, but we have started production on an almost new line of fighter, as well as expanded the role that the Air force will play in coming conflicts.
Up until this point there where four division Wet Navy, Space Navy, Army, and the Air Force, each had their own roles to play.
The Wet Navy Role is to a deterrent to other the other nations, and to act a military support organization should enemy ground force land on the surface. The WN as it is commonly referred to is further broken down it to it’s own division, the Fleet (all the ships), the Marines (infantry), and a Small air force operating aboard carrier. Out of all the Military branches it is by far the oldest, since it was the only military branch that was created when Tappee was formed.
If the WN is the oldest then the Army is a close second. Current the Army’s role is strictly the Defence of the Homeland. Their mandate does not allow them to be deployed any where out side of Tappee, they are strictly for Homeland defence, the Marines (Both Wet and Space) are the only ones that are allowed to conduct operations outside of Tappee. Due to this fact if one where to total up both the Marine divisions the man power would still not equal that of the army. It was decided early on in Tappee history that Tappee would never be caught guard with most of it’s forces fighting a foreign battle. So by following this ideology I am limited to the amount of forces that I can send to a foreign campaign. And like the all other Branches the Army does have some aircraft under it’s control to provide support for the ground force.
Then there’s the Space Navy (SN) who’s role is pretty similar to that of the WN. However, it has an extend role in provide protection is space. It still has the same three sub division as WN, Fleet, Marine, and a small air force except with more advanced air craft.
Then lastly is the Air Force. It has one role, and one role alone, to protect the air space above Tappee. However, it has been limited to only being responsible for everything atmospheric, any thing none atmospheric is the responsibility of the Space Navy, like the Army it is only for defensive purposes. Thus as one can see it has a very limited role, and now with the battle in the Orion Sector it has come clear that it now time to change the role.
Tappee Military Command has begun a mammoth reorganization of all four military Branches. Beginning shortly Tappee will decommission it’s entire Wet Navy assets, all ships and aircraft will be either sold, or melted down to create new military hardware. Since the development of the SN the reliance to the WN has dwindled, as well as their funding, they are currently operating at minimum capacity. All personal will undergo a slight retraining phase as they will be reassigned the SN, those uncomfortable with the prospect of living in space will be transferred to the Army.
The role of the Army will not change very much, with the addition of WN personal to the SN, will provide greater man power to foreign conflicts. However, the Army will loss control of any aircraft that it now possess. However, some to the Army division will now be responsible for acting as a garrison force should any of our allies need military support, a role that use to be exclusively reserved for Marine divison.
With the decommissioning of the entire WN the Air Force will see the biggest change out of all the military branches. Firstly it will an expansion of the amount of territory that it now protects, as it will take over the SN role of protecting deep space above Tappee. With that all fighter will be replaced by dual fighters that are capable of both atmospheric and non-atmospheric fighters. In addition it will also now be responsible for providing support from both the Army, as well as some Marine division, which means that the Air Force will now have an active role in foreign conflict. However, unlike the WN there will be a transition period, as new aircraft are developed to replace the current Air Craft.
The SN will see a huge increase in it’s numbers. To coincide with this growth the SN will see a number of new ship commissioned. Now that a large portion of the Fleet will be tied up in protecting the space around Tappee again it will mean that Tappee has more force that it can commit to other operations.
These changes are being done for a number of different reasons. First to better utilize the resources that Tappee has at it disposal, second to better handle Tappee’s new emerging role.
These changes will allow us to responder with greater force to any conflict that we may find ourselves in. It will take several years for these changes to occur completely, we feel that it is a step in the right direction.
