The peaceful country of Reichsbaden sent waves through the region today as a military coup ousted the long time royal family.
The rising Nationalist movement had been calling for reforms from the stubborn King for the past few months. The movement particularly swept through the military, which had fallen into disrepair as the King molded the government into a neutral pacificist state, much to the chagrin of commanders and many citizens.
The ultra-nationalist General Wilmar Von Neurath headed the military coup. About a half dozen tanks and an infantry company took the palace with virtually no resistance this afternoon. The status of the Royal family is unknown at this time.
General Von Neurath gave a rousing speech to citizens gathered in the palace speech, outlaying his new plan to revitilize the industry and create a formidable modern military. Duty to the nation was the formost theme. Von Neurath stated "Citizens, we shall acheive victory through blood and iron!" Subsequently, the flag has been changed from the gold and red cross on a field of white, to a flag with an Iron Cross on a field of black, white, and red.
The General and defacto head-of-state proclaimed that the new government would embrace industry and commerce, though the people would have to make certain sacrifices for the good of the whole. Several industries are to be nationalized in order to better serve the state.
General Von Neurath further added that due to the "special emergency", the Reichsbaden Constitution was temporarily suspended pending "significant changes" and Martial law would remain in place to ensure peace and order.
