A documentary on the weapons used by Survivalist Legions.

The legions are among one of the newest internationally known militaries, but are among the best equipped in terms of individual weapons.

We'll begin by listing all the weapons availible to the soldiers. All are merely updated or modified versions of weapons widely availible.

The AK-99 Assault Rifle, the M-1989A2 Assault Rifle, the M-205A2 Assault Rifle with Gernade Launcher, the M82A1 Heavy Sniper Rifle, the M1989A3 Carbine, the LAW Rocket, the MAC 17, MP5A3 and UZI 27 Sub-Machineguns, the 1911A3 Colt .45 sidearm and the VP91Z 9mm sidearm. In addition, a number of gernade types are availible to demolitionists and sniper units(the spotter caries an M-204) and the Benelli M1 Tactical 12 Gauge Shotgun (http://www.usna.edu/combat/images/M1benellittacital12gauge.gif), given to Special Operations units.

With this array of weaponary, it would be near impossible to be able to use all of them to their fullest. That is why a soldier is assigned only one ranged weapon, trained in the use of the mid-range weapons and assigned their choice of sidearms.

Now we will detail each weapon...

The AK-99 (http://www.weaponplace.ru/ak103.jpg) assault rifle is among the most recognizable series of weapons in history. It is made of lightweight and superstrong alloys, lightening it considerably compared to the AK-47 and 74. This does produce more kickback, but that is only a problem on full automatic.

The M-1989A2 (http://www.combatindex.com/hardware/images/gun/man/m203/m203_27.jpg) is the big brother to the M-16. It was rechambered to accept 7.62mm ammunition of the AK series. While this does reduce the killing power, it allows the soldier to carry more ammo and allows him easier access to more ammo from fallen enemy and ally.

The M82A1 (http://www.special-warfare.net/data_base/204_military_rifles/sniper_02/m82a1_08.jpg) Longe Range Sniper Rifle is the most dangerous of the availible weapons, having an effective range of 1830 meters and firing the large .50 caliber Browning machinegun rounds. The only danger to the sniper team from the weapon is not to the wniper, but the the spotter. The concussion of firing is directed out and back, usually into the spotter's face.

The M1989A3 (http://www.profilon.us/pics/tacm3/16m.jpg) Carbine is the lighter, shorter barreled version of the standard rifle. The larger clip gives it a faster overall firing rate than it's big brother, the shorter barrel makes it less accurate at maximum range. This is a rarely seen weapon on the battlefield, usually assigned to Ops units who fight at short range.

The LAW (http://www.redstone.army.mil/history/archives/missiles/law_ftbenning_1960_05.jpg) rocket. This the standard LAW series armor peircing rockets. Tipped in depleted uranium, it is able to literally punch through armor, allowing the explosive to detonate inside. This is usually not the primary use though, as the tracks are exposed and easy targets if the tank is moving slowly. Next targeted is the base of the main cannon.

The MAC 17 (http://arms.host.sk/firearms/ingram_2.jpg) SMG is the sturdiest of all the weapons featured here. Firing .45 caliber slugs from a 30-shot clip, it is known for it's man-stopping capabilities. This small and very deadly weapon makes fore an almost unstoppable close range weapon.

The MP5A3 (http://members.aol.com/sflspfrms/mp5a3.jpg) is the largest of the three submachineguns, nearing the size of the AK series. Firing 9mm bullets from a 30-shot clip, it is of mixed popularity. The bullets are not the most powerful, but the sher amount put in the air at one time makes up for this. The longer range of fire this weapon provides also tends to make it more popular than it otherwise would be.

The UZI 27 (http://www3.wargameclub.com/gun-folder/images/uzi-1.jpg) comes as the latest in the line of small SMGs. It has been tested at the maximum possible firing rate and was able to burn a full 40 bullet clip in just over four seconds. This resulted in the firing mechanism overheating and becoming warped though, jamming any subsequent clips. The weapon's firing rate has been reduced to perserve the firing ability of the weapon, but is still formidable. Designed to fight terrorists, it has proved it's worth in handling various cults and dissidents.

The 1911A3 (http://usmcweapons.com/qandas/M1911A13.jpg) .45 Colt is one of the standard sidearms. It's eight shot clip provides good firepower in close quarters. Many soldier find this to be the perfect weapon for their first tour of duty in the Legions.

The VP91Z 9mm pistol, while not as well liked as the Colt, is a very popular and very accurate weapon. It is a variation on the West German design featuring an 18-shot clip. This provides ten more than the colt, making up for the lack of killing power with more time between reloads. It is a favorite for extended firefights at close range.

The soldiers who enter the Legions have these weapons at their disposal, but are never trained in depth on more than four, prefering expertise in a few over managable fighting ablity with all. The soldiers are given familiarity training on all of them though, in case they are in a situation where the use of that weapon is required. This type of training and the vareity of weapons makes even the small size of the Legions a dangerous adversery.

EDITED: Added pics for all except VP91Z. I got that model from a book I read and cannot figure out what pistol it is derived from.

And yes, I know the M-19 is the 204 varient. I didn't want two pics.

My guns are better. 8)OOC: So are the ones Crimmond has. I wanted some modern tech mods instead of lasers and the normal crap. Call it nostalgia for my early days on NS when some nukes on satalites was my uber-weapon.

IC: The office deep within the MI6 facility was as busy as usual with ratings and estiamtes on enemy forces and thier equipment being prepared for entry into intel reports.

One of the analysts was have a look through the report on the program from Survivalist Legions on thier infantry weapons
he makes notes of bits of infroamtion that trouble him and may require validation by agents and other sources.

1. In referance to the AK-99 rifle, apears to be a referance to soemthing along the lines of the AK100 family, no mention of round used based on anlysis of other entries most like to be 7.62x39mm short/soviet

2. M-1989A2 rifle description contains incositancies sepcifically a statement that 7.62soviet is atually lighter than 5.56mm NATO. no details of the exact method of conversion are provided so it is unclear weither this is a simple upper/barrel repalcment or soemthing more elaborate such as the SR47.

3: Sniper rifle is illustrated as the stadard barret M82A1 , no hint as to possibility of XM108 version or M82A2.

4: M1989A3: some how a larger ammo supply is provided, most likely the use of an extended, drum or beta-c style magazine system, belt fed adaption not ruled out. Shorter barrel not so much of an issue with the 7.62soviet as opposed to 5.56nato.

5: LAW rocket system. unclear as to how a Du tip makes any difference, infantry rocket systems rely on HEAT warheads to penetrate armour as they lack the vleocity required for kinetic penetration.

6: MAC17: seems related to the ingram MAC10/11 weapons converted for .45ACP ammo, likely rahter heavy with its full magazine and with its indicated lack of rnage most liekly useless.

7: MP5A3: apparently the standard HK MP5A3 in 9mm PARA fairly basic and widespread choice of SMG, nothing remarkable.

8: UZI 27: appear to be an update on either the Ingram or UZI series of weapons, appears fairly standard.

9: Pistols: fairly average chocie offering option of .45ACP or 9mm PARA.

10: overall issues, while the use of a common ammo amoungst troops they are likely to still suffer problems with supply caused by duplication of weapons roles requiring an increased number of spares, parts and cleaning supplies to be supplied.

OOC: no way to respond IC, so I'll try and explain a bit, if just so other players undestand...

1: AK-99 fires 7.62.

2: The original M1989A1 used by Crimmond(main nation) had a larger, much havier bullet. The conversion is a barrel replacement and firing mechanism adaption as needed.

3: M82A1 is the standard. No newer models have been widely introduced.

4: Extended clip.

5: Which is why it is mostly used to disable tanks, not destroy.

6: Heavy, yes, but not useless. Just made for shorter ranges.

7: No corrections.

8: No corrections.

9: No corrections.

10: Common ammo was main priority in the design of the weapons. Supply not much of an issue at this point, being defenseive military only.
