Civil War turns Nuclear! (Open RP)

16-04-2004, 19:04
Theresa Nevkins walked through the bunker. Above her, she could hear the constant gunfire of a full force civil war...not that it was unusual. The Zalebanian government had fallen a little over half a century ago. What had once been a great nation, holding off in a war against Faramount, had slowly been transformed into hell.

But, some sense of civility had been kept. Thus far, none of the nuclear bunkers of the nation had been raided untill today. Before her, she could see the evidence. She and nine other people had been protecting the nukes until a new government was established....and before them, their parents had been. All nine people were dead. And the four nukes held in the bunker...gone.

Walking across to the command center's communication panel, she pulled Tim Dykins, her old friend, off of it, and wiped the blood from the controls. If the rebels...any of the two dozen factions splitting up the nation...were able to crack the warheads codes, Zalebano would become even more of a living hell. Someone needed to get those back into safe hands....who would do it was beyong her.

After about a minute of typing into the panel, she got to the old Zalebano telegram system. A total of twenty bunkers were still hooked from it, around 70 or so people who spent their lives, like their parents, protecting weapons of mass destruction. The first thing she did was send a weapon to all of them, advising them how security had been broken, and of the threat of the nukes.

The second was to anyone who would listen.

Telegram Origination: Former Republic of Zalebano
Sent to: Whomever it may concern
Message: Anyone who is listening, my name is Theresa Nevkins, and I'm one of the ten people who had been guarding a group of four nukes here in Zalebano. Their all dead, and the nukes gone. I am unable to tell what will happen with these weapons, but anyone, including your nations, if the faction who took them has something against you, is in danger. As the final government worker here in Zalebano, and the highest ranking, I am hereby requesting foreign aid in any way possible.

Signed
Deputy Theresa Nevkins
Former Tinter County Sheriff's Department

OOC: BTW, just so you know, Zalebano is currently a hellhole. It's worse than Somalia was. So bad that the Russian Mafia actually pulled out of the country in order to save their assets. Just about EVERYONE, men, woman, children, are armed. A total of 25 factions are fighting for control of the large nation, and all are heavily armed.

"Sir,several of our operatives down in Zalebano have been killed."
"Zalebano?Which one was that?"
"The one who's government fell 500 years ago,and uh,well..."
"What?Did something important happen?"
"Several--4 nuclear weapons,to be exact,sir,have been...captured..."
"What?!This is a major opportunity!Send down an insurgent team down there now!I want them there ASAP!"
"Yes,sir!"
The officer retreated into the shadows...
OOC:
Zalebano, can I assume I'll be able to get into your nation without much difficulty?

"Sir, we have breaking information..."
"Yes, what is it?"
"A large country, Zakebano, is in ruins because of a 500 year-old civil war..."
"Continue..."
"There are 20 bunkers, each with 4 nuclear warheads, and one of those bunkers have been raided."
"Who raided them?"
"We are not sure."
"Okay, continue."
"There are a total of 80 men and woman who protect these, 9 have been killed."
"Notify Mr. President."
"Yes, sir."

*~*~* 45 minutes later, political capital, FBI operative and Bob, the President *~*~*

"Yes, thank you. I will deploy a peace-keeping force shortly."

Hearing your country's cry, Hard Rock Beyond deploys 1,000 soilders (to each of the 20 bunkers) armed with G36E assult rifles, Remington 780 Shotguns, and AT-4s to each nuclear bunker. 80,000 troops with M60E3 7.62 GPMGs, Remington 780 Shotguns, and AT-4s. 250 F-16 MRFs and 100 F-14D Tomcats are patroling the skies. 1,000 M1A2 Abrams tanks, 2,000 Ve`hicule Blinde` Le`ger (VBL), and 5,000 HMMVEEs are deployed on ground support.

OOC: No Swords, you won't get any resistance...that is, if your operatives can keep themselves alive. This civil war has been going on for 50 (not 500) years, and just about anyone foreign gets shot. But, if your men are smart and good, they'll make it.
IC:
As HRB forces moved into the nation, faction leaders began to realize their reign might come to an end. Many have made small alliances, and started teaming up on the rest so they'll have the forces to hold their territory.

Meanwhile, what teh HRB forces find on the outskirts is...devastation. Those few civs who don't have to be killed because their driving technicals (cars with mounted machine guns), or toting guns, have been totally traumatized. Many raped.

The inner city areas are even worse, with constant fighting, shelters and bunkers made outa everything...complete hell, overall. Most of the citizens immediatly resist the troops, not knowing what is happening, but some are smart enough to surrendur.

Deputy Nevkins walked out of her room into the deserted corridor. The base had been designed to hold somewhere around 300 people underground, and another 2000 above ground in the main part of the base. There had only been ten of them, though, so they'd sealed themselves off. Even at ten, and now one, the place was nearly deserted.

She began walking towards the main control room when suddenly something hit her. The red emergency lights were flashing again. She coulda sworn she'd turned them off...which meant someone else had entered the facility.

Pulling her old police pistol, she began advancing down the hallway, hoping to reach the main control room without the returned criminals (OOC: She doesn't know it's your men, HRB) finding her. If they did though..

After about a minute and a half of walking, she heard noises up ahead...and lights. Not the glow of the half burnt out lights that were still on in the facility...but of flashlights. Holding her weapon in front of her, she turned into the large lobby, originally designed as a mess hall.

In front of her stood around twenty troops, all with assault rifles. Not waiting for them to see her, she stepped out of the corridor's shadows, and yelled "DON'T MOVE" in the most authoritive voice she could muster.

She doubted it scared them at all.

General George McLean walked into President Astrolich's office, sitting down in a comfy chair.

"What is it you want General?" President Astrolich asked.

"We recieved a telegram from a soldier in the country of Zalebano. She was reportedly guarding four nuclear weapons. She has asked for help in trying to stop a nuclear war. I haven't telegrammed an answer. What do you think?" McLean asked.

"And what is significant about Zalebano that we would help?"

"Zalebano is a large, wartorn nation. For a little over fifty years they have been in a civil war. Its a huge scale war between 25 different factions."

"So they want us and others to stop a civil war, protect the remaining nukes, and try to stop the civil war?"

"Yes, Mr. President, that's practically what their asking. They need help before something really big happens."

"Like what?"

"Like a nuclear war."

"Send Zalebano a telegram telling them we will send 20,000 soldiers by next week. Also send Recon 9 to scout out the rebel positions in Zalebano. 1000 Abram tanks, 50 helicopters, and they will have as many airplanes as we can spare. Also telegram the rebel leaders to see if they will be willing to hold a peace talk. We don't need to take innocent lives if it is possible for this war to stop. Also contact our ally of Pelpobia, giving them a briefing. I think we'll need their help in this war. You are dismissed General."

S.S.P. Headquarters
Somewhere In Sicrat

Deep in the lairs of the Sicrati Secret Police, three men debate furiously in a tiny office.

Adentri, The Commander in Chief of the secret police (as far as anyone knows): I still believe it is not worth the risk. If Sicrati troops are caught messing around with Nucelar Silos we will lose are standing with all factions. Such actions may be counterproductive in foreign intervention to end this war.

Intelligence Officer Berrels shook his head: If this war goes nuclear there are going to be dangerous repercussions throughout the community. We can avoid all that by stopping the threat now.

Adentri: And what of Concordia?

Berrels: Concordia will not get involved.

Adentri sighs: This goes against my better judgement. Send in a platoon sized strike force to relieve the commander of the bunker with the stolen nukes.

The third man, Commander in Chief of the Sicrati Military spoke up with a smile: I'll have them ready in 13 minutes sir.

Adentri: This is a Secret Police operation, General. We'll give you a ring if we need any assistance from your... soldiers.

Andruci quickly lost his smile: Of course...

The Following is being sent to the bunker in question:

35 S.S.P. Agents (Excellent special ops soldiers)
10 S.S.P. Enforcers (Exceptional Special ops soldiers)

S.S.P. agents are armed with OICW's, and tactical assault gear.
S.S.P Enforcers are armed with OICW's, gas masks, and Special assault gear.

They will be flying helicopters in as close as possible to the bunkers in question, making it on foot to the actual bunker. They should not have trouble with street fighters and such, and minimal trouble with soldiers.

The Linthopian Supreme Council building, Marx City, 22:50 local time.

Mikhail, the new minister of intelligence (Ivan got... mysteriously killed in a back ally): Supreme Council, we've got a message from Zalebano, asking for aid. Appearently some rebels have captured four nukes, and... Well, read this.

Chairholder, looking through papers: What do we know of Zalebano, minister?

Mikhail: The nation has been in a bloody civil war since 50 years back, and the government has collapsed totally. 25 factions fight for power.

Another chairholder: So, these nukes must be at least 50 years old... Still, a nuke's a nuke! I propose we send in a task force of spies to find these nukes andreport to us where they are, after which we recover them. I also think we shoudl aid the most left-winged faction so thye win the civil war and we get a powerful ally. Also: by reading these papers, it sound like there are at least 16 nukes, badly defended, in the country. We will have to decide upon how to deal with that later on.
I think we should vote t osee if the Council accepts my proposal.

Five minutes later, voting done, 75% yes votes.

Chairholder: Let's do this then. Mikhail, send in a task force and find these nukes and this girl! If she really is the highest in station there, then we can use her to gain power. And also, take a quick look at the other nukes and report back to us. We're counting on you! In the name of the Union, comrade, in the name of the Union!

Elayeth Wren (me; head of state): What do you mean by possible threat?
Air Marshal Gregoria Chamming bursts into the room her fase is white with fear: It is now a definate threat, sir. A squadren of Delta-15's picked up another distress call from Zalebano and as Air Force Protocol 12 paragraph 132-a strictly says " When in the case of a possible threat to the nation or nations in alliance with..."
Wren: Yes, Yes Gregoria i am well aware of the protocol.
Chamming: sorry sir, The squadren went to investigate and.
Deveny: YES?!?
Chamming: They recieved a transmition from Deputy Theresa Nevkins stating that four nuclear weapons were in fact stolen by a renegrade faction of their people.
Wren: Are we at any risk?
Duh, thought Deveny a group of would be terrorists disside to steal 4 nukes and he asks if we are at any risk!
Chamming: Yes sir. We are at great risk.
Wren: In this case the Prime Directive doesn't apply.
Wren presses a button on his intercom system

We have had no reports of actions to that efect and consequently...Veskaland is at a state of war against the rebel faction of Zalebano, which we are calling Zalebano-D. Thus i have instigated the ESP

Captain George Bluos walked into President Astrolich's office. "Mr. President, we have just recieved a telegram from Alasyia."

"What is it about?" Astrolich asked.

"I haven't read it yet, the telegram department just told me that it was very important and to give it to you right away."

Astrolich looked at the telegram abruptly. With a nod he said, "Bring in General Nuceus."

5 minutes later. . .

The General walked into the room sitting down on a chair in front of the President's desk. "You called me, Mr. Astrolich?"

"Yes, we currently received a telegram from Alasyia. According to them the an outpost that had four nukes was raided and the nukles taken. It was in the country of Zalebano, which has been in a civil war for fifty years. The controller of the nukes is able to start a nuclear war. Alasyia has already responded and will send 20,000 troops over to help calm the war and protect the remaining outposts with nukes. Alasyia wants our help since Zalebano is a large nation with almost the entire nation up in arms. It will be a large operation to even reach the main outpost but if we concentrate most of our military force there with the help of our allies and anyone else that responds. What do you think General?" Astrolich asked.

Nuceus thought for a moment and then said, "Since Zalebano is the larger country it will probably have more people fighting even if their not all working together. Strategy is key at this time, I would suspect that with the war they can't do any farming and they recieve it from outside forces. If that is the case we just need to blockade their resources before sending in troops. Humanitarian aid should be right behind the troops clearing the way. I would say that the resistance is most likely not trained in fighting, since the leaders trying to gain control of the government are just making people fight or die. In that case our troops should be able to destroy them easily if they don't give up. I would telegram Alasyia telling them that we will help and will send 100,000 soldiers, 1000 tanks, a quarter of our navy and airforces. First we send over recon squads to map the area and which faction has the most land. Then we initialize the blockade, followed by airstrikes, troops, and humanitarian aid. We don't want children to die if it isn't necessary. But that's only what i think Mr. President."

"A very good plan General. We will blockade for a day and a half before sending in ground and air forces. This will make the resistance weak and most likely easier to persuade to give up. Humanitarian aid will help any injured or starving in Zalebano. I will contact Alasyia to tell them that we will help them and we'll request an of their navy that they can spare. Get all soldiers going to Zalebano ready for duty. Remember that we will send in more soldiers over time. I'm uncertain to say how much but it will probably be at least a fourth of our army. How's that sound?"

"Great Mr. President. I'll contact Alasyia right away."

"No, General I'll contact Alasyia, I have a special job for you. I want you to go out on the international market and buy as many planes and ships as we can spare with our money. Also if you get a chance buy stronger assault weapons and tanks. You may go now."
17-04-2004, 16:22
OOC: Alright, above, someoen asked for a rundown of the factions. Now, I'd be totally willing to make a list of all 25 factions, their beliefs, strengths, and such. But I doubt anyone would want to read it. Just trust me...no matter what type of government you are, there's one faction you will like.

From communist dictatorships, to normal dictatorships, to corporate dictatorships, to extremist dictatorships, or even to the three democratic groups in the nation (the smallest and most well allied three, by the way), it has a little of everything.

As for an IC post...I don't really have one yet. Any troops moving in will experience heavy resistance in some areas, but most of Zalebano's people are ready to give up with ease. Once your troops arrive, I'll be able to do an IC post.

Oh, and for the diplomatic negotiations...17 of the 25 factions are willing to send delegates.

OOC: I don't think anyone should help just one faction. It may help you but then you'll just end up having a huge war with each other over Zalebano. I'd much rather try to bring peace to the country without supporting a faction before the governament is up. When freedom and the war are over you can support a certain faction [if their remaining] by endorsing them or giving them money. We shouldn't look at the liberation of Zalebano to help our own nations [unless its through trade] by giving a certain group like you to help your country. I say we first get peace and then worry about their government.

IC: "Mr. President, Pelpobiua has responded and will help out. they also asked for as many ships as we can spare to start a blockade. We also received a telegram from Zalebano saying 17 of the 25 factions will be willing to have peace talks. The others refuse. all they need to know is the place to meet," General McLean told President Astrolich.

"Good, telegram Pelpobia to tell them we will send any ships we can spare. Tell the factions willing to hold peace talks to meet here in our capital. Also invite all participaters in this war helping Zalebano. I've heard disturbing reports about them wanting certain factions to win because they think like their government. We must stop this kind of thinking before a war that isn't civil happens. You may go, General."
19-04-2004, 19:22
Christopher Kurds, leader of the largest socialist faction in Zalebano, looked at the message before him. The conference was to be in the capital of Alaysia....how the hell was he going to get to Alaysia? He was lucky enough to have a Ford Aztec, but a plane? And the few boats he had didn't have enough fuel to make it halfway there. And planes....he hadn't ever seen one in person.

Pulling up a telegram sender on his thirty year old computer, Kurds sent a message back to the Alaysian government, informing them of his imposibility.

Simultaneously, at 16 other "government" headquarters, diffirent leaders thought and sent the same messages, excepting one, which had somehow retained control of a small long distance sesna like aircraft from before the war.

Without knocking, Marquis Jean Ratignolle, the personal secretary to Archduke Philip IV of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka, strode into the Archduke's study.

"Sir, I think you should see this," he said, as he placed a document on the Archduke's desk.

Without looking up, the Archduke replied, "Oh? What is it now? Another rebellion? Imperialists? Flying monkeys?"

Ratignolle replied without smiling, "Funny, sir, but I think you should take a look at it. It just came in a few minutes ago from Zalebano."

Sighing, the Archduke began to read the paper before him. His eyes scanned the page from left to right until it suddenly stopped and looked up to stare into the eyes of his secretary.

"Nukes? We have a couple of renegade nukes floating around in a country with absolutely no semblance of central authority or civil control?"

"Exactly. Before you even ask, I wouldn't put much faith in Zalebano's ability to catch a couple of nukes sneaking past its borders."

The Archduke thought for a second and responded, "Well, I'm not stupid, and I know that an unstable country plus missing nukes equals a bad combination. The entire world is at risk now. Call an emergency meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

"Yes, sir."

After much deliberation...

The current situation in your country causes the entire world community to be alarmed. First and foremost, such WMD's should not be allowed to fall into dangerous and irresponsible hands, and should most definitely not be allowed to proliferate to foreign nations.

Therefore, in the interest of global security, His Eminence, the Archduke Philip IV of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka, has authorized the GDMO Defense Corps to use all reasonable means to prevent the missing nuclear weapons from leaving your country's borders. (ooc: what is the geography of your country? landlocked? island? if not surrounded by water, please disregard the following:) Thus, beginning immediately, GDMO naval forces will enforce a blockade beneath the waves, on the surface, and in the air on your country.

However, in the spirit of humanitarianism, our country will deliver regular shipments of food and medical supplies to your beleaguered country.

As for the matter of the civil war raging inside the country of Zalebano currently, the GDMO officially takes a hands-off stance while the people and different factions of Zalebano do not come to a multi-lateral agreement or plan for restoring order to the country. Until then, the government of the GDMO would not like to become embroiled in a conflict that can easily turn into a new brand of imperialism, where foreign interests support certain factions and thereby hope to export their ideas.

Best of luck in your endeavours,
--GEN. PETER EARLEY, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff

OOC: Okay, here's some ground information on the thus far requested nations.

Zalebano’s single socialist democracy is run by Christopher Kurds, mentioned earlier. It's a rather centralist group, and though currently more of a dictatorship, Kurds has promised that, upon his faction taking control, he will retire and put full elections into place.

Zalebano has two Catholic factions, one EXTREMELY Catholic, to the point that it's run by a bishop, and calls it's troops crusaders. The other is rather liberal Catholics, and just use Catholicism as a moral platform. The second faction is run by an x-priest.

As for the communist factions...there are three in total. One's a total dictatorship, with communism simply as a front. The next is a group of liberal communist faction, extremely so, who is more interested in equal rights then taking national control. Which might explain why they’re being defeated so easily. The final communist faction is a conservative dictatorship, although the dictator does care about his people.

Finally, there are the two corporate factions. Both completely big businesses run. And they are two of the strongest factions there are. Lead by "CEO's", and using corporate ranks, the few areas they control are still rich, and they have great technology. Sadly, they are also pretty evil, and simply want control of the nation so they can make money.

If you'd like more specific information on a group, ask so in OOC, for example "Could I have information on the 'EXTREMELY' Catholic group?" and I'll give you everything I can think of on them.

As for geography...Zalebano is a separate island of it's own, so a blockade would work perfectly. And seeing as no airports are still operational, and very few planes in the nation still flyable, an air blockade would be quite pointless. And as for aid...I hope your sending troops to protect it, because otherwise the governments will just take the stuff for themselves.

Still waiting for Alaysia's response.
IC:
Around the nation, different faction leaders read the GDMO telegram...and most laughed. A blockade? It wasn’t like anyone came to this country, or left, anyhow. Of course, with the nukes now out of their bunkers...who knows what could happen.

Upon seeing the part of the telegram about foreign aid...some saw a good thing for their people. The rest saw a feast for themselves and their high command.

"Zalebano has responded," General Nuceus said, walking into President Astrolich's office. "17 of the 25 factions will meet like they answered. The main problem is that most of the leaders don't have any ships or planes and if they do they are small and probably unable to reach Alasyia. I think we should have the location closer to Zalebano if the country allows it."

"No we can still have it there if the other factions that won't interact with us let us go by, or die trying. Send in a squad of helicopter transports and armed helicopters. Airplane escort would be helpful. Send in our navy and airforce pronto we need to try to at least gain open ground to work on getting to the leaders. The navy will set up the blockade with Alasyia on the south and West side of the island. They may not think any ships are coming in but it would be impossible for all their soldiers and citizens to have enough food. They can't farm because of the war, and the only way they could get food is through humanitarian aid or ships and airplanes giving it to them. Also their leaders couldn't have stockpiled food for 50 years. Their either not telling us the whole story or don't want to tell us. Telegram them telling them that the leaders who will cooperate should be in a ceasefire and should meet in one place so we don't have to scan the entire country for them. now go and telegram them our answer, General."

OOC: What are the people opposing the peace talks and how strong are they. Are they the strongest or what?
20-04-2004, 15:50
The Most Supreme Dictator brooded upon what the minister of foriegn affairs had said. Four nuclear missiles, 25 factions, 1 nation. It was obvious that action must be taken.

Speech to the Nation:
"In a nation in ruin, four nuclear weapons remain unaccounted for. There are no leads as to who has the nukes, other than that it is most likely that one of the 25 factions are in possesion of these weapons. In order to restore peace to this withered country, military action must take place."

The nation quickly geared for war, preparing thousands of soldiers for war, the first wave, of thirty thousand entered one of the corporate ares, met with chaotic resistance. Though the faction's soldiers did not appear to have any kind of formal military training, they were battle hardened, and fiercely defended the land. Eventually, the rebels began to fall under the stress of fighting a well trained army. Securing three ports and an airstrip, the army stopped short of invading any other factions, due to more resistance from the already captured cities. It was obvious that the military had underestimated the rebels, and the casualties mounted high. In order to neutralize the faction, more troops were needed.

NR casualties: 2250 killed
5200 wounded
17 MIA
The army awaited casualties from the faction, though it doubted that it would get any, and the Minister of National Communications (propoganda cheif) would just make up a number for the public anyway.

OOC: NR if we're looking for a good rp you can't have it your people entered and killed resistance. You could have put the factions who wanted to attend the peace talks into not wanting to come. It would take a few days to assort that kind of military force and invade a country. If we want a good rp it isn't going to be i came in and met resistance but won in the end.

IC: General McLean walked into the President's room, sitting down in a chair in front of his desk.

"What's the report general? Can the faction leaders make it?" Astrolich asked.

"The report is that the faction leaders can't make it unless we get ships or airplanes into them. Only a few have airplanes and they aren't big enough to reach here. Pelpobia already has launched its navy for a blockade. Another nation, Monte Ozarka, is also setting up a blockade. Right now Pelpobia's plan is to reach the leaders of the factions with transport helicopters, escorted with armed helicopters and planes. Then they will launch attacks on the factions who won't participate, with the peace talks. It is believed that they are the strongest factions but we don't know yet. Once their military has landed they are thinking of landing more soldiers every other week or so. Some soldiers will help protect the remaining nukes while the others search for the ones who took the four nukes. If it is possible they would like to disable them before they get taken again. That was the main brief they sent me. Operations to pickup the faction leaders are already to go, they just need Zalebano's okay. I didn't give them our answer since I think you should decide."

"Send over the navy to help Pelpobia in the blockade, also send over two regiments to help them get the faction leaders. Telegram Zalebano and Pelpobia, telling them what our plan is. You are dismissed."

ooc: 1.) It would take more than several days to move the troops and carry out an operation of such scale, it would weeks, even months, however, you must also consider that time in the game is not equal to the time in real life (judging by national population growth, I would say that one day roughly equals one year.
2.) Am I saying that I invaded, faced resistance, but simply won in the end, well, yes and no. Though it is true that I said my troops did conquer much of the faction's territory, I must now face occupation of a small piece of land, where my soldiers are facing overall animosity from the people, constant guerilla attacks, being unprepared to occupy the faction, and not having enough reinforcements to crack down on the operatives in the area which we hold. We also are not sure where the factions boundiesy are (probaly none since they are at war), so while trying to chase our enemies, we end up clashing with other factions. We also still do not know where the nukes are, so now the troops become a sort of hostage to nuclear attack, so essentially, the invasion was an absolute failure.
3.) What you want is a good Rp, (diplomatic tensions, civil unrest, the works) well, facing the threat of military failure, my totalitarian friend(The Most Supreme Dictator) now has no choice but to what is absolutly against national policy, and actually try diplomacy... note that this is a psychotic dictatorship, so don't expect much cooperation. Most of you aren't taking advantage of the situation to further your nation,so I thought I would serve as a balance, and counter the movement to peace by causing unrest. I already wrote more than I planned, so I will rp the second half of this statement, (the In Character part) tommorow, anyways, this will give you all time to respond to what I have said, because if I am going to have to disregard all of my statemnets and come up with a new story(like if you all decide to ignore me) it saves me some work.
Hard Rock Beyond

Hard Rock Beyond has a convoy that is reaching the HQ of 5 factions: the 3 Democratic and 2 Catholic factions are being visited, and an expected alliance between these groups, forming a super-group, that then will be allied with Hard Rock Beyond.

OOC: I'll let NR on with it, except a couple things.
Which faction did you attack, NR? I mean, there are 25.....would you attack a democratic one, or a commie, or what? There's a complete list at the bottom, if you wanna see which one.

Also, NR...Air Strip? Ports?Yea right. There isn't an air strip/airport left in the nation that hasn't been in some way destroyed. And ports? Heh...well...they are there, but only barely, and with a lot of damage.

Also, please note, corporate areas are like all other areas...it's just unpainted skyscrapers with thousands of shells in them, and no windows, and not small houses.

IC:
The faction (yet to be named) that was attacked immediatly began preparing a task force made up of technicals, RPG troopers, and other personell carying small arms. Simultaneously, the factions allies (who will range in number depending on which faction you attack), prepared attack forces. Across the nation, other factions began taking advantage of the weakended defenses and began attacking one another, sending the civil war to a whole new height.

Many of those commanders of the factions that had signed up to attend the meeting were included in the number of leaders seeing an oppurtunity to invade, and took the chance. Simultaneously, Alaysia got the following response from the seventeen factions.

There is no place in Zalebano that is nuetral or safe for me and the men I bring with me. Anywhere in this nation is dangerous...even in the taken NR territory. We would need to be taken elsewhere, be it a ship offshore or another nation.

OOC:
Okay, here's my preliminary list. It goes from strongest to weakest, list wise.

1. Corporate Group run by CEO. Not attending talks.
2. Catholic Group run by bishop. Is attending peace talks.
3. Communist Group run by a Premier. Not attending.
4. Socialist Democrocy run by an ellected president. Attending.
5. Random Warlord who acts as dictator. Attending.
6. Corporate group run by CEO. Not attending.
7. Catholic group run by priest, attending.
8. Random Warlord, simply a dictator. Not attending.
9. See 8
10. Muslim faction, attending.
11. See 8
12. See 8
13. Semi-democratic faction. Attending.
14. Jewish Faction, attending.
15. Random warlord, attending.
16. Communist group run by premier, attending.
17. See 15.
18. See 15
19. Republical group, attending.
20. Marxist Group, not quite communist or socialist, attending.
21. Muslim group, not attending.
22. Jewish Group, attending
23. Communist Dictatorship, cares about people, attending.
24. Working towards true communism, cares, attending.
25. Budhist group, surviving due to it's group of non-hating warriors. Attending

There's a rough list...if you want more info on certain factions, simply ask.
Finally, let me just say, I'm going away this weekend on a trip to Chicago, so I may not be able to respond, but I'll try my best. Please, keep the rp going, just have interactions between your nations. I'm leaving at 4:00PM tommorow, so if you post by then, I can respond.

MONTE OZARKA NATIONAL TELEVISION

...We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring you an address being made by His Eminence the Archduke Philip IV from the Ducal Palace...

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I am here to speak to the world on behalf of the Monte Ozarkan government, and I hope that I have the consent of its people, as well. I speak to you about the situation unfolding in the far-away country of Zalebano.

Recently, four nuclear devices were stolen from an abandoned but still fully functional nuclear missile silo within Zalebano. Those four weapons are now unaccounted for. In response to this threat against world security, I have ordered the GDMO Navy to enforce a blockade against the nation of Zalebano in order to ensure that those nuclear weapons do not leave its borders.

Moreover, many countries have joined the effort to bring peace and order to Zalebano, a historically rich but now war-torn country of many competing factions. Many of the countries have sent in or are thinking about sending in ground troops to: 1) secure the remaining warheads, and 2) to restore order to the country. However, I must say that the government of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka is rather disturbed by the actions of these countries. These forces, in aiding Zalebano, are running around, virtually unchecked by any organized armed resistance.

This brings certain issues to light:
1) Who is overseeing the collection, cataloguing, and safe disposal of these WMD's? It becomes much too convenient for Zalebano's nuclear arsenal to suddenly "disappear" off the map.
2) Who is overseeing the multilateral military actions in Zalebano? Many of the occupying countries hold very different views in how a country should be. We must insist and implore to those countries that military operations in Zalebano cease until the factions themselves have worked out a multi-lateral agreement.

I make this speech today to the world in hopes of peace. I truly hope that the world is listening. God bless.

...and that has been the Archduke Philip IV making a statement to the press. We now return to your regularly scheduled programming...

ooc: god, this was cheesy...sorry

The President looked nervously at the telgram they had received form the factions that wanted peace talks.

Turning on the intercom he said, "Will General McLean please come to my office ASAP. Repeat General McLean.

In a few minutes the General walked into the room. "Did you see this telegram?" The President asked him."
"Why no, what does it say?" the General answered.

"There isn't a place secure enough for all the faction leaders to meet. We'd have to go through all their country if we had to get their leaders. How can we pick them up, safely?"

"Well don't they have boats?" If so they could get on the boats and take them out to the ocean, then part of our barricade could pick them off. Like a carrier so they can fly in. What about that?" McLean suggested.

"Yes, that may work, as long as we know what land they control. Telegram them to meet us somewhere off of Zalebano's coast. Also make sure they choose, so we can find the easiest way to reach them."

"Yes, sir."

OOC: Zalebano, could you come up with a map showing what land the factions rule?
23-04-2004, 19:27
OOC: Going away for the weekend, I'll try to post. Anyway, I got someone working on the map for me...he's pretty good. In any case, I'll have the Zalabanian map on monday for you guys. Please continue rping, or at least don't abandon this thread!

Cya all monday.
23-04-2004, 20:44
ooc: Ok I wasn't going to be able to use the airstrip or the ports I was going to say that they were too old, unkept, and damaged in this reply, but if you say that the airstrip isn't there, then disregard that part, but I am still going to rp the ports. Sorry I thought I said who I was attacking, but I read my post and you are right, I forgot it. I am attacking the strongest of the factions, one of the corporate factions, the retaliation from the faction should be harsh, to reflect how much of a failure I wanted the invasion to be.
ic: At one of the captured airstrips...
Captain: How are the repairs going?
Sergeant: not good sir, the ports are underkept, I'd say they haven't been used in years, most of the docks are destroyed, and the few still standing are badly damaged.
At the Grand Palace, NR.
Most Supreme Dictator: What is the latest news from the front line?
Advisor: Terrible, we need more troops, the factions have begun a counter strike, we do not know how many factions are currently fighting us.
Dictator: How about the nukes?
Advisor: We found none, not even a trace that they were even there.
Dictator: You said they were there.
Advisor: We do not know that they aren't, but we haven't had the manpower to do that kind of search.
Dictator: The MIA's?
Advisor: We found three dead, the other fourteen are unaccounted for.
Dictator: Fine, send more, I want 100,00 troops in there by next monday.
Advisor: What?! that is impossible!
Dictator: Failure! I will do it myself.

A few days later...
Dictator: General, have you done all of the preparations?
General: yes, they should arrive soon.
Dictator: Of course thy are, I took care of it myself!
(exit Dictator)
Major: But sir, you haven't sent a single soldier!
General: That man is insane! he will drive this nation to the ground! he is nothing like his father!
Major: Sir! If the Most Supreme finds out, then he will have us all killed like traitors!
General: Then shut up! Unless you want to be killed!
26-04-2004, 18:34
OOC: I have the map drawn up, I'm simply trying to figure out how in the sam hell you get a picture onto NS!!! Anyway...
IC:
The CEO sat in his office on the sixtieth floor of the Clide Building, and looked outside. It was a beautiful day. Excepting the smoke, large explosions of battles in the distance, and of course the destroyed city far below him. But Clide, who had had the building named after him, could really care less. As his Military Commander walked in, Clide turned in his chair. "Mr. Anderson..."

General Anderson rolled his eyes, hiding it from the CEO. The last thing he wanted to do was piss off the man...but on the other hand, he was really sick of being treated like he was Neo from the matrix. The fact that his name WAS Neo Anderson, of course, didn't help much either.

"Yes sir?" Anderson asked.

"These...NR troops....how are our operations against them going?" Clide asked.

"Well, sir, quite alright actually. Our guerilla attacks, along with the main technical assault force assault, and the terrorist actions, have been having a serious effect. Of course, their still holding their own, but it's at a very high cost...for both sides." Anderson answered.

"Well, then, keep it up. What about the nukes?" Clide asked.

"No idea, sir. We're still trying to find out how anyone could have gotten into a building we've been trying to get into for years, and as it was in the middle of our territory..." Clide cut him off.

"It makes us look like idiots. I need those nukes found, now! Before they can be used against us!" Clide said, stepping from his chair.

Anderson nodded. "Of course sir." he said, and walked out, preparing to send a force to 'locate' the lost nukes. Not that they needed locating. He knew exactly where they were. And once he took out Clide, they would be the bargaining chip he would use to reunite the once great nation of Zalebano...under his complete authoritative rulership.

OOC: Allaysia, the best way to get the delegates to the meeting would be to have them use their own watercraft (almost everyone, through rivers or direct sealine, or through allies can reach the water) to get to your nearest ship. Then you could helicopter them to the ship of the meeting. Be advised, however, that their ships are small, so your ships would need to be within a few miles of shore.
Alasyia
28-04-2004, 17:22
OOC: Yeah I had that Zalebano, but the forums didn't process it, oh well.

IC: Lieutenant James Burrows looked over the sands of Zalebano's beach. As far as the eye could see were Alasyian troops covering the beach. Half a million troops had finally arrived, with more expected to come in daily. He could feel this war was going to last a long time, with loss of life on both sides.

Back at the capital. . .

"Did Zalebano respond yet?" Astrolich asked the General.

"Yes, they can't gather in one place it would be too dangerous, but I think all own small boats. Our navy might be able to pick them up and either helicopter or fly them here, I think that's what we should do."

"Yes, that's a perfect plan, telegram the leaders right away our navy will pick thm up.
28-04-2004, 18:26
Most of the seventeen factions responded enthusiastically, but two are still unable to attend the conference (being two of the three land locked nations). The other fifteen are currently sending small entourages of speedboats to meet with Allaysian ships.

The faction invaded by NR is still fighting strong, with it's allies' support.

OOC: Okay, I have no idea how to get a chart onto NS...if someone could advise, please? I have NO idea how to upload it here.

Anyway, this is the key, once I finish out how to get it here.
Red=Nations not attending conference
Green=Nations attending
Brown=Zalebania, a small nation which split off from Zalebano at the begining of the civil war, and has kept complete order. The stats you see when coming to the Jennifer Government page on Zalebano is the stats for that small nation.
Yellow=NR invaded Territory
Purple/Violet=Alaysia invaded territory (Allaysia, please inform me where those troops are positioned?)

28-04-2004, 20:01
OOC: I'm on the south and east coasts, not all of it but just a little bit. It would be hard to tell without the map. A question, how strong are the factions that can't attend?

IC: "Reports from the factions have come in. Fifteen of the factions can make it but two landlocked factions can't make it. We'd have to fight our way to reach them. I think we should proceed with caution." General McLean said, looking at the papers again.

"All of the factions are important if they all decide on peace or a Non-Agression-Pact we might be able to restore order to Zalebano. Telgram Pelpobia, telling them to help us get the faction leaders. We may also need their help in getting to the last two leaders, but we need to know where they are and who is surrounding them. Also Telegram Monte Ozarka to ask for their assistance in rounding up the faction leaders. Can you please telegram NR asking them to let us help them secure the region they have. We need to do everything in our power to end this war as fast as possible," President Astrolich ordered.

"Yes, Mr. President," McLean said, walking out the door.

[CODE] Monte Ozarka we are contacting you because we can use your help in rounding up the faction leaders attending peace talks. We would also like to talk about helping each other out on our blockade. We await your response. [CODE/]

[CODE] NR we would like permission to help you secure your beachhead. 10,000 troops and 100 tanks are ready to come in your land if you'll allow. [CODE/]

OOC: I'm guessing the faction leader landlocked is the one with the plane? Also I think you can get on your map somehow using a scanner to scan it onto your computer.
29-04-2004, 19:08
OOC: Forgot about the plane. Yes. So that means only one faction cannot attend. The other faction's leader will need an aircraft carrier to land on though. And about these invasions...who are you invading? The non-attending nations, a certain type of nation, or everybody?

As for the non-attending nation's strength..well...the first, third, sixth, eight, ninth, eleventh, and twenty first most powerfull factions are not attending. NR is invading the first most powerfull (he'll soon lose his beachhead without help).

Again, anyone know how to get the picture up here?

IC:
Official Telegram to: Allaysia
From: Zallebania
Concerning: Peace Talks
As of recent, we heard that your nation was going to be hosting a peace talk between the current factions...we would be gratified to attend. As you might have heard, we were part of Zalebano originally, before the civil war, but when the government fell we held our own, keeping from the chaos. Most of the supplies mainland Zalebano gets is from us. Anyway, just wondering if we could send a delegate.

Sincerely,
Zallebania.

On the mainland, corporate faction troops, along with troops from allied factions, are preparing for a final assault on the NR beachead. Smaller atacks using Technicals, Ak's, and even RPG's have been kept up, along with terrorist assaults.

Allaysian troops, unless landing in one of the three democratic countries, are experiencing heavy resistance. Fourteen of the faction leaders have made it to Allaysian ships already. One is still en route, one is waiting for the coordinates of an aircraft carrier, and one is trying to find a safe way to get a boat out to sea.

PORLANIA SIEZES CATHOLIC FACTION'S ASSETS IN PORLANIA
President Vindall Today announced that Catholic assets in Porlania were Frozen in Support of the Leading Faction in the Zalebano Civil War. This Morning, Porlanian Special Forces raided several Catholic Churches at Mass, taking over 800 Prisoners connected with the group.
The Porlanian Third Battlefleet, including Two Aircraft Carriers, are moving to Zalebano in an effort to Scare NR Forces into withdrawing from their Beachead. 400 Porlanian Marines have landed in Corparate Territory to help crack down on "Religious Radicals and Terrorists".

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S SPEECH

"We, the Porlanian People, urge the NR Imperalists to withdraw from Zalebano. It will only lead to more Bloodshed if you stay. We are cutting off all Aid to Non-Corporate Facitons in a Blockade, and we will want to be included in the Peace Talks. If the NR does not Retreat, then our Planes will Rain Blood on your Troops. We have warned you, you will Withdraw."

OOC: Well I will help Nr if he lets me. One aircraft carrier is positioned just south of the land we have, it can move into a better position for the aircraft but cannot move very far from our current beachhead. What my blockade consists of will not be named. i will say that I have carriers, frigates, battleships, and subs but the total amount will not be told. Yes, Zalebania can send a delegate. Talks are expected to begin when the last faction leaders arrive.

IC: Alasyian troops had come under heavy enemy fire for the last few nights. Though the resistance was heavy the Alasyians stood their ground, setting up barriers to fire from. More troops are arriving daily as strikes against the resistance are planned. With the aircraft carrier, Homoa, positioned a mile out in sea the Alasyian airforce is expected to launch bombs on the resistance. Zalebania has been asked who they are helping, if they are helping the hostile factions they will be asked to stop as we try to get peace. More later.

PORLANIAN TROOPS ATTACK CATHOLIC POSTITONS

A Porlanian Millitary Spokesperson yesterday said that Porlanian Tanks backed up by Airpower from the Aircraft Carrier Ageus, attacked Catholic postisions on the Corporate left flank. Porlanian Airpower flattened a City that refused to surrender, and when Porlanian Marines entered the Town of Bluehouse, the Catholic Church had to be Bombed to the Ground. Porlanian Troops are making good progress against Catholic Millitias who have never fought such a well-equpped Enemy. Progress is being made on a Porlanian Airbase in Zalebano, that would be able to seriously hamper any Enemy Blockade.

Alasyia condemns Porlania's actions against those attending the peace talks. We ask them to halt their military actions, until peace talks are through. They can attack those that aren't attending the peace talks as they are enemies of peace. If you do not comply we will take military action against you.

Today the largest troop force arrived in Zalebano a group of 1 million entered the Alasyian beachhead. Strikes have been ordered against the resistance. Over 1500 tanks have landed on Zalebano.

Helicopters hovered over the Zalebano trees. Any resistance spotted would be fired upon. A group consisting of 100 helicopters have entered NR's beachhead, to help NR. There are 50 gunships and 50 anti-tank helicopters.

Helicopters rained bullets down on the resistance. Troops combed the forests for the resistance as tanks started expanding the Alasyian advance on the Corporate faction hostile to all peace keepers.

Tanks pummeled the strongholds walls unrelentlessly as they prepared for bombers to take out part of the stronghold.

"So their not trying to protect it?" Captain James Lennings of the 17th armored division, asked.

"Well there have been reported shots but they really aren't putting up any resistance. Attack Helicopters will arrive right after the bombers attack. The 2nd Infrantry Division will back us, capturing and killing survivors after our advance. ETA is for the bombers is 2 hours."

"Good, ask HQ for some mortars and humvees. You are dismissed."

10,000 Porlanian Troops and 1,500 M1A1/2 Abrams have landed in Zalebano, in a move that President Vindall says 'Will prove that Democracy will not give up'. He went on to assure Alasyia that these troops will only be Peacekeeping troops, and that Offensives will be focused on forces in Zalebano that do not Attend the Talks.
He also urged that the Main Corparate Faction Attend the Summit 'to further peace'.

The first landing is 200,000 troops, 1000 tanks, and 200 attack, anti-tank, and transport helicopters. For 1 day the troops will start loading guns, setting up defenses, and arranging strikes.

"My fellow Zalebanoins. You all know my name...Clide Nordstroms, your great leader. A leader who has protected and served you for over fourty years. Since the inital breakout of civil war, I have been there for you, protecting you from other evil groups wishing only to do you harm, helping to rebuild your lives. Look around you. Are we not the most prosperous faction? Do you know all live in houses with windows, next to paved streets? Are you not watching me right now on a television? Now look at the rest of Zalebano..half demolished buildings, death everywhere. Untill now we were diffirent.

But, as I speak to you know, foreign nationals come to our territory with the intention not of helping us, as their pitious propganda says. They come not to stop war. Tell me, what has happened since they arived? Destruction! And that is all! My fellow Zalebanions, since their arrival, these troops have simply caused more destruction. Just hours ago they totally levelled a city with a population of over 19 million...only around 500,000 of those 19 million were registered soldiers! Soldiers registered to protect YOU!

I come before you today to ask you, to beg you, to help me fight off these insidious foreigners, who wish not to help us, but only to turn us into their slave race! I come before you today to ask you, please, do not let all that we have worked together to accomplish over the last fifty years fall into the dust! Pick up your arms, ladies and gentleman, I beg of you, pick up your arms, and defend your great nation...defend yourselves! I am not asking you to protect me and my power...I am asking you to protect your lives and your freedom from those that would wish to take it away. Thank you, and God Bless."

Clide turned away from the cameras, and listened as the corporate owned news agencies droned on about his greatness as a leader. He knew only 50% of his people had televisions, but within an hour just about the entire nation would know of his plea. As would his allies. And he trully did need help from once.

The past 24 hours had been a hell. Enemy nations were accusing him of stealing nuclear weapons which he didn't even have! A total of five factions were using his weakness to attack him, while tens of hundreds of thousands of enemy troops moved in on him. Even his great General Anderson had gone missing, presumably dead!

His power was going quickly, and something NEEDED to be done, but he certainly wasn't one to do it! His power was being wrestled from him! Even with the help of the other cathlic, corporate, and non-attending factions (all ten had signed an alliance), he was barely holding his own! If even! He'd already lost 1/8th of his territory, and was losing troops in the thousands! Of course, he knew with the city leveling they wouldn't surrendur, thinking they'd just be killed, and with civilian support he'd have a better fighting force...but none of this would hold out. What he needed right then and there was what someone else had taken from right under his nose.

Four thermonuclear warheads. Any one of which would be enough to get the evil scum from his homeland forever.

OOC: I shoulda made this clear earlier, Clide's territory (the main corporate one), unlike the rest of Zalebano, is not a wasteland. It's mainly industrial and commercial, sorta like a second world nation. Most are poor, but have it better then the rest of Zalebano...what your have here is a dictatorship that has most of it's people on it's side...your gonna be getting heavy resistance.
_____________________________________________________________
IC:
In a small bunker just inside the capital city of Zalebano's most succesfull faction, General Anderson sat with a group of people...three nation leaders, five second in commands, and many other high ranking personell from all over Zalebano. The creation of a new order to rule the rest. And he was going to be incharge of it.

As he sat back, he asked simply, "Any questions."

Everyone shook their heads. Anderson smiled. The plan was unbelievingly easy, and deadly. By the end of it, he would have caused the deaths of millions upon millions of civilians. And yet, when he came to power, he'd be seen as a hero by all the factions of Zalebano, by Zalebania, and even by the foreign peacekeepers. He would put election proceses in place, start rebuilding. As soon as that happened, the democratic factions would be in, and control would be his.

As he would promised, he would rebuild with help from the foreigners, and re-unite Zalebano. He'd allow full ellections in the nation, bring back the old constitution and a new congres...all the things a good guy would do. Yet, he would keep power totally. Partially because the people would see him as a hero, and partially because all of his opposing parties would be made up of men loyal to him...and those opposing parties that weren't loyal to him would find themselves extremely rich and retiring, or quite dead.

Turning, Anderson motioned to a luitenant. "Send a single nuke, via suicide bomber, towards the originally planned target. When it hits, our plan will be in place."

The luitenant nodded, and ran off. Anderson smiled. Soon, he would be in control.

OOC: I'll rp the nuclear bombing later..this post is too long already.

OOC: Alasyia [or NR] leveled a city with 19 million people? And Alasyia killed the civilians? Not true unless they put up some resistance and fired on their soldiers. As I know Alasyia wouldn't kill civilians unless they fired on soldiers. Though I don't remember Alasyia launching his invasion with his bombers yet.Which would be the start of the invasion.

IC: "So the nukes have been positively identified as thermo?" the President asked the head of the CIA.

"Yes, and I'm requesting that we get our nukes ready to intercept any nukes that are fired. Someone could nuke us and we'd be pretty useless."

"Set up the defense systems. And send over more troops. Numbering so we have over 2 million there. Get Fleet Ultra with the 20th and 21st armored divisions, 3rd airborne division, and the 4th, and 5th marine division. Get Pelpobia on the highest alert for attack. You are dismissed."

PORLANIAN TROOPS ATTACK CATHOLIC POSTITONS

A Porlanian Millitary Spokesperson yesterday said that....Porlanian Airpower flattened a City that refused to surrender

OOC: There's your quote. Porlania did.
I'm really not sure what to type right now. I'll soon do the nuclear bombing bit, but bsides that theres not much to say. All factions that are being attacked are defending themselves, and 10 have banded together into a powerfull alliance. All the delegates to the peace conference are currently ready, and awaiting the start of it.

OOC: Oh sorry I thought you were talking about Alasyia attacking the corporate faction.
