The following is an excerpt from The D.U.C.K.Y. Today, a leading newspaper in Upper Cet Kola Ytovia.

In a surprise ruling, the Jugenkrep of Upper Cet Kola Ytovia has ruled in favor
of a motion by the Church of the Mighty Creator to be recognized as a separate
religion. The Church of the Mighty Creator (CMC) is a Christian denomination
that teaches that the Caucasian race is superior to all others, and that whites
should rule over the other races.

What worries many in the halls of the Ytovian Lagukrof is that official
recognition of the CMC can potentially gain some seats in the House of
Representatives as a result of this ruling. Seats in the House of
Representatives are granted on the basis race and religion. If CMC claims that
their denomination has 9 million followers prove to be accurate, then the
church
will gain six seats in the House of Representatives.

Leadership from the Council of Evangelical Churches and the Council for
Interfaith Relations presented arguments against the motion. They claimed that
the CMC was an Evangelical Christian denomination and should be included under
that heading. However, the Jugenkrep ruled in favor of the CMC, citing
findings that the Councils actively the CMC from having a say in their
leadership and polls showing that most Ytovian evangelicals found CMC teachings
to be "very much at odds" with their own beliefs.

The Jugenkrep has requested that the Calere form an emergency census to account
for the recognition of the CMC as an official religious category. It is
expected that the census will be finished in time for the next round of elections.

New article from The D.U.C.K.Y. Today:

The Calere today released the results of an emergency census to determine the percentage of the population that claims membership to the Church of the Mighty Creator, a Protestant Christian denomination that holds that the Caucasian race is superior to all others. Published results indicate that 0.55% of the population of Ytovia belongs to this church.

The emergency census was taken as a result of a ruling by the Jugenkrep, the nation's highest judiciary, that the CMC must be tallied as a separate category in the census and be considered separately in determining membership to the House of Representatives. Membership in the House of Representatives is granted by democratic vote, but is assigned to various racial and religious groups to ensure that they have representation in the government. The Jugenkrep ruling meant that they had to be considered for inclusion.

However, a religion must have 2% of the population to have seats in the House specifically set aside for it. The 0.55% figure means that the CMC will be lumped together in an "Other" category. Most political experts believe that the CMC stand is so unpopular, particularly among other minority religions in the "Other" category which tend to be majority non-Caucasian, that a CMC candidate will probably not be able to win election.

J.R. Bronson, a leading clergyman within the CMC, has expressed outrage at the census. "The census is grossly inaccurate. We know the number of members in our churches, and according to the figures the government has released concerning the total population of the country, we should have roughly 3% of the population. The Calere has deliberately fudged the numbers in the census to keep us out of the Lagukrof. They don't want us to have a say in the government, because we speak the truth, and they fear that."

Fure Calere Damog Atenkruf has stood by the census. "The other members of the Calere and I took our responsibilities very seriously. We double and triple checked our numbers and our information gathering methods to ensure that the figures we received were honest and accurate, precisely because of the optentially explosive nature of this particular census. I personally disagree strongly with the CMC, but if the law gave them a right to representation then that is what I would have enforced, as is my duty."
