(Statement given by the Molonlabe Secretary of War, 6pm MST [Molonlabe Standard Time] 15 April 2004)
Earlier this afternoon, men dressed entirely in white military style clothing burst into several train stations and schools around the Republic. Screaming incoherently, they opened fire into the milling throngs and were quickly neutralized by armed citizens. Simultaneously, tractor trailers loaded with ammonium nitrate were driven into the Air Corps hangar, the War Department, and the National Congress buildings here in our capital. Reports indicate that similar attacks have occured throughout the Republic. Losses are expected to be heavy, and there is no more specific word as to exact casualties at this time. As a direct result, the President has declared a State of Emergency and authorized the War Department to activate the Militia and Ready Reserves. Military Intelligence indicates a number of groups that could be responsible for this perfidious act, but none have claimed responsibility at this time. We do not seek conflict; it has sought us. The citizens of Molonlabe may rest assured that their Government will take all steps required to prevent future attacks. I have been authorized to offer the following cash awards:
10,000 Units of Exchange for information leading to the capture of those responsible for these attacks, or their person (dead or alive).
50,000 Units for leaders of any group or groups responsible for these attacks, dead or alive.
Tomorrow evening, the President will address a Joint Session of the House of Burgesses and the Senate regarding the State of the Republic. It is rumored he will ask for a declaration of war and a constitutional amendment to allow the Militia to be deployed as an Expeditionary Force overseas if necessary.
