The only thing I do is check one of the GNP calculators to see if your country's budget should theoretically handle it, but if it does, all you have to say is something like "Money will be wired upon confirmation" and it's considered done if I post something like "order confirmed."]

Dear Sirs:

While we recognize that hospital/medical ships are to be immune from attack during a time of war pursuant to international law and understanding, we also note that as a practical reality, nations such as Hogsweat that are on the losing end of a battle/war will attack such a ship. With that in mind, if your Pasteur class hospital ships can be produced with a set of at least 2 bow mounted 15 inch, .50 caliber guns and mounts for defensive machine guns, we will order 20 of them. Please notify us of your terms, delivery expectation times and other issues related to our proposal.

Subject: Armaments for the Pasteur-class hospital ships.

We have considered your proposal and, upon consultation with Navy Chief John Newman, we have decided to accept your offer upon acceptance of the following terms:

1) We would charge an additional $100 million per ship to provide the weapon mounts you seek to provide for the redesigns necessary to fit the armaments onto the ship and to design and build the weapons you have asked for. In addition, we will provide additional reinforcement to the ships themselves by adding an additional two inches of armor and building the ships with an advanced steel composite. That would provide the Pasteur-class ships you have ordered with a total of 5.5 inches of advanced armour, able to withstand a Harpoon missile.

As a result, the cost after a five percent discount for high volume purchase would be $25.65 billion.

2) We would ask that these ships not be used for offensive purposes against Sarzonia [OOC: If this is a silly request on my part, we can pretend it didn't get said]. We wish to note that the mission of this ship is intended to be a peaceful one, but we would have no objections to providing it with armament to defend itself from an attack.

3) Since we are making significant modifications to the structural design of these ships, we are going to require four NS years [OOC: four RL days] to complete your order and have them undergo sea trials. If this amount of time is excessively long, we can work toward speeding up the process.

We wish to note that we equip our own Pasteur-class vessels with anti-ship missiles and anti-aircraft guns during war situations. We intend their use for last-ditch defensive purposes.

We thank you for your consideration of the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation and hope to hear from you in the future.

Your terms are agreeable to us. We have arranged to wire 1/2 of the money now and will remit the other 1/2 upon delivery of the ships. Note, we certainly have no intention of ever using the ships in an aggressive manner against you or anyone else. However because of our experiences in warfare and naval ventures, we have made the decision that our hospital ships must be capable of more than just basic defense. It is for this reason that we requested the modifications. When fired upon, we want our ships to be able to fire back in a manner that will be taken seriously.

I have been informed by Carra Nussbaum, my Accounting Director, that we have received the remainder of your payment due upon delivery of the Pasteur-class hospital ships. We thank you for your patronage and look forward to working with you in the future.

We at the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation are pleased to hear of your navy's satisfaction with our hospital ships and we found the design we implemented for the project to be highly useful. As a result, we would be better equipped in the event you would like to order such ships again in the future.

In addition, I have forwarded your request for diplomatic relations to the office of our Senior Vice President for Extenal Affairs, Mark Lorber. You will be hearing from his office shortly, though my personal secretary tells me that you will be granted a picturesque spot on Embassy Cove in our capital, Woodstock. She happens to be the daughter-in-law of Senior Vice President Lorber and she tells me the decision was "pretty much a slam-dunk."

In a joint press conference with the Portland Iron Works, the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation has announced a new discount structure that will apply to all future orders. This policy shall take effect immediately.

5% Discount
*Repeat buyers (countries that make three to five purchases)
*High volume purchases (20 or more)

10% Discount
*Frequent buyers (countries that make six or more purchases)
*Very high volume purchases (40 or more)
Note: Sdaeriji receives a 10% discount for frequent buyers at the Portland Iron Works and the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation.
*Members of Victoria Alliance, NATO, and Atlantian Oceania Region
*Nations with favored nation status (Zoogiedom, Morathania, Roach-Busters)

15% Discount
*Most trusted nations (Isselmere-Nieland, Praetonia, Granzi)

[OOC: In other words, even if you are a first time buyer at either storefront, but you have already established a relationship with the other storefront, the same discount applies as if you had been buying there all along. Let's take Sdaeriji for instance. They have made six purchases at Portland Iron Works and have earned a 10% discount there. If they make a purchase at the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation, the discount will still apply there, even though it's the first purchase at WIC. Countries whose orders are denied at one storefront will be denied at both.

Even though both are separate companies with separate boards of directors and managing directors, they share a database and are strongly interconnected. If you order an Alliance-class supercruiser at the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation, it only takes a couple of keystrokes to forward the order to the Portland Iron Works and the response will be as efficent as if the order were placed correctly. It's very convoluted IC, trust me.]

the Magnificus Eques of Pio Magnus would like to order a yacht from the good people here at Wilmington Shipyard.

We would like this yacht to be big enough to comfortably suit about 50 people after the staff (including mechanics, waiters, deck officers etc.) We would like there to be a few suites with a small office area. we would like 3 suites with a large office area, a large meeting room (could double as dining hall) and a secure communications/planning room. as well as any neccesities such as a kitchen, etc. that I have neglected.

This yacht would be used for meetings between heads of state and such, so it is very important that it is safe.

Would it be possible for the Wilmington Shipyards to create this vessel for us? Price is negotiable, and we will pay extra for your labor.

Subject: Yacht construction

As you know, the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation does not currently offer a yacht to meet the specifications you require. However, we are in the beginning stages of acquiring plans and beginning to design a yacht to fit your needs.

We will require approximately five years [5 RL days] to complete the plans and construction of the yacht and conduct sea trials since it is a brand new design for the WSC. However, we are willing and able to create custom designs for our customers within reason and we believe this design falls under that category.

Once our design is complete, I will notify you via telegram. We anticipate that this ship will cost you approximately $1.65 billion after factoring in custom design requirements for a ship of this type and your 5% discount for multiple purchases from the WSC and the Portland Iron Works. To meet your safety requirements, we intend to use the same armour scheme that the Tiger-class railgun gunbot uses. It is a unique protection scheme that will protect it well from would-be attackers.

We are also in the process of working with the PIW to implement a design for a retractable turret of two 15 inch guns to be used for the Pasteur-class hospital ships. Mrs. Tucker informs me that the PIW's board has approved the use of this technology for this new design.

We hope this new ship will serve you well once we have completed the design phase.

Subject" EPM Diplomacy

As we are hoping to use this vessel for purely diplomatic purposes, we feel that offensive weaponry would have no place aboard such a vessel. We would however accept defensive weaponry such as an anti-ship-to-ship missle system, and a retractable AA gun. These weapons would have to be inconspicuous as the beuty of the ship is very important to the Magnificus Eques.

Of course, we would be happy to ascede to your wishes regarding the Diplomacy. We were merely pointing out the fact that we would be willing to make accomodations including installing weapons that would be reserved for defensive purporses.

Per your request, we will equip the ship with an anti-ship missile system and a retractable 20 mm AA gun. We would be able to maintain any weapons stores in an obscure location on the ship that your guests would not see, so as not to mar the beauty of the ship.

The ship is currently under construction in our shipyards. You are welcome to send a delegation to Wilmington to observe the ship to ensure that she is built to your satisfaction. You may also make any additional recommendations in this construction phase for the ship.
