The Lobards is an archipelago of the New Scandinavian mainland. The islands are under the government of the united socialist states of Linthopia (USSL) since a few years back, when the local government suffered an economical collapse.
Now, the Lobards suddently crave their independence once again. Appearently they feel they have recovered from their economical crisis, and that USSL has no rights to keep the islands.
The USSL did what they always do when things need solving, they held an election! The question: Do you feel that the Lobards should be indepent. The outcome: NO!
This didn't suffice in the eyes of the lobardians, who a month later declared independence from the USSL, and handed over a declaration of war.
The USSL answered with a denial of the declaration of independence, and opened negotiations. These broke up quickly, however, as the governemtn of the Lobardian Islands put the diplomats from the USSL in to prison as prisoners of war.

Now, things are looking pretty bad over in New Scandinavia. The USSL have mobilized their troops and are loading the troop ships, while the Free Lands of the Lobardian Islands have tightened defences all over the coasts.

What will this lead to? How will the outside world react?

The Lobardian Islands hereby declare independence from the former oppressoers of Linthopia, and declare war against that nation. May good luck be on our side!

The Kilean Foriegn Office warns the USSL to tone down it's rhetoric, and to allow for the peaceful seperation of the Lobardian Islands.

We also call for calm on the part of the Lobardians- no war is needed just yet.

That being said, the destroyer KNS Unison has made a port of call in the main Lobardian port, and the KNS Ostendt battlegroup (1 BCGN, plus 5 destroyers) has set sail and is heading for the region.

The Psychotically-Induced State of Dimmimar is willing to send the following forces to crush this uprising.

The Lombardian Islands cannot disturb in this way the stability of the USSL: As a nation that has faced -and still faces- separatists movements, we know that violent movements from the separatist are always a reflect of incapability to prove the right to STEAL aonther nation´s territory and stablish a so called new nation.

We offer the USSL our total support: should open war start, we will not hesiate by sending AOE2 Regional Soldiers to support the USSL.

We support Linthopia and would fully support to crush this uprising.

The Fleet is now in Range of The Lobardian Islands and is taking up blockading positions...

USSL accepts Dimmimar support in this conflict, and warns Kilean taht if necessary, the linthopian armed forces will engage Kilean ones. They also thank all supportive states for their support ion this matter.

At 01:35 local time, the Lobardian Island forces opened fire upon Linthopian aircraft apssing over their position. The aircraft in returned opened fire themselves.
One Linthopian airplane was shot down, two lobardian soldiers killed and three more injured in the encounter.
Though this was a tragic mistake made by confused soldiers, the event has sparked something large. The two nations has broken relations, and linthopian drop ships have started moving towards the lobardian islands.
In turn, the lobardians have started mobilizing their few and illl-equiped troops.

The lobardians are placing sea mines around thier islands and fortyfying their defences, and desperately gathering the weapons they can find.
The linthopians are loading aircraft with bombs, ready to drop on Lobardian keypoints, and are filling their dropships with marines. The navy has been put at red alert and has set sail towards strategic points aroudn the lobards.

The nations are now at war!

The KNS Unison is now behind the blockade. However, by a secret deal with The Lobardian Islands, a Kilean light infantry brigade, a Kilean Air Force SAM air-defence brigade, and a wing (36) of "raven" fighters have been transferred to The Lobardian islands.

As for the KNS Ostendt, the massive Kirov class battlecruiser along with 3 udaloy destroyers and 2 sovreyemnny destroyers, (the KNS Unison was the third Soveryemny, which is now behind the blockade) they take up positions 300 miles away from the Dimmimar battlegroup, which is now being shadowed by Kilean Bear-F maratime recon planes.

The Bear-F patrol bombers are feeding location data back to the massive battery of SS-N-19 antiship supersonic cruise missiles on the Ostendt.

The Kilean air wing is now flying combat CAP, and kilean aircraft are challenging the blockade. With radar set up by the ground-based air force personell, and with the "Talon" long range air-to-air missile (think a slightly smaller pheonix- 90mi range), the Kilean interceptor wing is able to totally cover the islands.

In addition, Kilean ISD teams are passing out man-portable antitank systems to Lobardian partisans. Both GPR-4 panzerfaust style weapons and more advanced guided systems are given to the hastily trained men.

Kilean total force stregnth:

36 "Raven" interceptors (a high-speed, long range interceptor comprable to the F-14 or F-15)

Air force personell: 4,500 (ground crew/radar SAM crew/logistics)

12 Hawk SAM batteries (6 around the Kilean airbase, the rest around the makeshift capital)

5,000 light infantry (a rapid reaction brigade)

800 Internal Security Directorate special forces.

Colonel Ögory: War has started sire.

President Vino: It is high time we sent a force to support the Islands, the international community has been supporting our cause, we should help too other independence movements.

Colonel Ögory: What can we do? Most of our forces are fighting the Grunge-Frogs in the frontier and we have no naval nor air force...

President Vino: In here, we do not have naval or air force in here: Mexico (The Kahaile Family) has been supporting us, and we sent before all hell broke loose in here, a force of 10,000 soldiers. We have just bought in utter secret 10 Transport ships, 12 destroyers, 1 "Etagelieux" Battleship and 4 Cruisiers to the Mexican Government: I was saving them for a surprise movement against Grunge, but we´d better help the Islands before it is too late.

Colonel Ögory: So, what are your instructions?

President Vino: Communicate with the forces in Mexico, ask the Governemnt to allow them set sail to the Islands.

Falastur pledges its support to the Lobardian Islands, although it will not commit troops quite yet (mainly because we are already at war).

That could change though. I haven't committed that many of my troops to that war....

As President of Brown Meteor, here is my proclomation to the people of my country, and the nations at war:
The Armed Republic of Brown Meteor lends our support to the USSL in this time of crisis for them. The world must have order, and if these islands were to suceed in breaking away, it would lead to even more world discord. Though we have no forces to send as of yet due to military restructuring, they will be forthcoming in the days ahead.

The government of The Lobardian Islands is totally recognised by the Mexican Kingdom of The Kahaile Family as an independent nation.

Falastur warns Dimmimar to remove its fleet, lest Falastur be forced to attack it. The Lobardian citizens obviously desire independence, and while the vote on independence failed, we suspect that if it had only been open to those directly affected (aka Lobardian citizens) as follows the regulations for votes of this kind, then it would have passed. The Lobardian Islands deserve independence, but you are denying it to them....

If you lift the blockade, and cancel any plans to invade the Islands that you may or may not have, then we will not take military action against you.

The Lobardian people are controlled by the Linthopians, We will lift our blockade if The Lobardian People wire the sum of £3,000,000 to us....

Glad we could avert a crisis....

The USSL is disappointed in the Dimmimar case, but understands their actions, and asks the government of that nation if they are still willing to give material support to Linthopia in this case, and if any Dimmimarian voulenteers would like to participate on the USSL side of this conflict.

An airstrike has been performed over the Lobardian capital. The material losses are thought to exceed 10,000,000 Union credits, but no casualties have been reported as of yet.

The USSL also asks that the Lobardian Islands turn over the diplomats they are holding as prisoners of war, on grounds of the neutrality of these individuals as per international standards.

Linthopia declares that the election was totally legal as per the constitution of Linthopia and thus the outcome cannot be questioned. The Union also comments on the fact that the Islands are a Linthopian protectorate, and thus must follow under Linthopian law as per the constitution.

The Lobardian Islands thank the Kingdom of Mexico as well as Falastur for their help.

Since the nation is in a crisis a temporary head of state has been elected: the military leader Adolphe Gregori, who is also the chief of defence and field general marschall of the army of the Lobardian Islands. He has personally apointed a temporary cabinet of ministers under him. Gregori will remian haed of state until the crisis is over, when an election will be held.
As the republic don't have any official constitution as of yet, it isn't sure how the presidnet will be elected, but a constitution is being written at the moment.

We have also lifted the religious bans imposed by the Linthopian state (religion wasn't illegal per se, but heavily restricted) and the Lobardian Islands have declared that the state religion is officially ortodox chrstianity (most of the population of the Islands are east European or Greek immigrants, and most people follow these religions).

OFFICIAL ANOUNCMENT
The Linthopians navy and army are returning to the mainland. Linthopia has sent a representative to the Lobardian Islands.
The Union steps down on further threats of war, and declare that they will no longer claim Lobardian Islands as their own. The Lobardians have their freedom.
The USSL also appologises to all soldiers and civilians hurt in the conflict, and asks that all states involved in the conflict will step down, since the independence is now granted to the Islands.
To show that they are serious, the supreme council of Linthopia accepts the Lobardian claims of independence.

....As the blockade was (temporarily) lifted, Kilean has to withdraw all major forces due to the events in Dra-Pol.

however, the ISD presence is increasing dramatically, and some 10,000 Lobardians are now being trained to resist the (expected) invasion.

SECRET MESSAGE TO THE ISLANDS

Finally, a member of the CIM has gained its independence: The Government of Nouveau Volstik has decided that, in case Linthopia did not respect his commitment to the independence of the Islands, *3,000 Volstikian soldiers will stay in the Islands: In peace time, they will be doing social works and giving tips to the Islands´military, if we have the authorisation of the Islands of course.

The rest of the Expeditionary force will receive orders to leave towards Grunge-France: the yhave no idea we have a naval force, so we will make a surprise attack on them.

We humbly ask the Islands to honor our alliance, and help us to fight the Grunge-French.


*(The 3,000 soldiers are the Mexican soldiers, however, The Kahaile Family did not accepted to commit them in a frontal attack against Grunge-France, so they decided to stay at the Islands, under the Nouveau Volstikian flag, while te rest left towards Grunge-France)

We feel taht the linthopian threat has been compromized adn wishes fo all foreign soldiers to leave our nation, since they aren't needed here any more. May God be on our side!

Today, the first true election would have been held in the Lobardian Islands, however, that did not happen.
Instead, the temporary head of state ,A. Gregori declared himself the supreme leader and head of state for life! He has dissmissed the parliament and appointed a government that he controls. When the people protested, they were overrun by Linthopian military that had been transported to the islands in secret, and with the absense of all foreign soldiers, no one could stop Gregori form taking the power with the aid of the Linthopian government.
The moment Gregori became dictator, he and the USSL entered an alliance, and the Democratic Republic became a Dictatorship.

Linthopia warns all foreign powers not to interfare in this, or they will pay! There have been talks in the UN about Linthopian nukes, and surely that nation has the resources to build nukes, and have during two occaisions admitted to have nukes available. This means that interefarance could be lethal.

Gregori also declared that he will support Linthopia, and strengthen the bound between the two states.
He will also change the flag to a new one, featuring a hammer and sickle, to illustrate the fact that he supports socialism.

The supreme council of Linthopia had no further comments, except that they will send armed forces to protect the islands until they can build an army of there own.

Gregori also chagned the state religion from orthodox christianity to catholocism, his own religion.

May I remind you of the fact the Gregori was elected in the first place! If the people of the Lobardians elect him, then they have to face the consequences. We can not be held responsible if their "temporary head of state" became a full-time one, but we have an alliance, and thus, we must protect our ally, no matter the costs!

And, what happens in a small nation such as Lobardia shouldn't concern you! Go complain about those mega-huge brainwasher dictatorships our there instead!
