Aerial Assault! The silent killer (CLOSED RP)

SR

*EDIT* Error on my part. Small people = Insurgents.

OOC: Admin duties first. Closed RP, Lapse, Nymar, and SR only. Ally involvement is negiocable,

The small party arrived on the little island, halfway between SR and Lapse. It wasn't owned by anyone, but tonight it waas SR's little piece of terrain. Troopers began putting up radiation warning signs and guarding their shipment of radioactive weapons, now to be decomissioned. The insurgents from a nation deep inside Bristle, Nymar, had sold out to SR. The small nation wasn't quite yet developed enough to have a strong coastguard. Lapse couldn't be everywhere at once, though he tried. The people had to fight to get out here, especially since normal SR patrols didn't know about this operation. This was the highest secrecy mission SR had. SR had to strike back against Lapse. Of course, their contact didn't look like he was from SR, and he took the caution to stay away from SR patrols. If they saw him, they'd open fire, but they were all loaded with blank bullets so nobody would be killed. The troopers didn't know about the operation either. Only SR's top brass and this guy knew. There wasn't going to be any connection to SR at all...

"Bitter cold night it is... so I'll make this quick. In these canisters is Anthrax, the airborne variety, and Ebola. We're not expecting much with the Ebola, but the Anthrax we have a chance. Here are your orders. You're heading back to Nymar, and from there to Lapse. Three of you will shove your Anthrax into a small McLapse burger box, and leave it near an air conditioning duct in three major shopping centres. The fourth member is going to try to get this Ebola into the water supply. If you do, good on you, but your main job is to distract Lapse to a different area. Fake intelligence is currently floating ashore to Lapse that a terrorist group known as Shadow Guard is going to be hitting a Lapse water supply on the north side of the island. That is where the Ebola will go.

Now, if you're caught for some reason, swallow the pill. I can't tell you what's in it, but it'll ensure they can't extract information from you. Once the deed is done, report back to here for your, uh, reward. Also, ensure that SR doesn't find out about this. If they do, there's a good chance they'll find and kill you before this mission is finished. Good luck."

The SR commander in disguise walked off and hid in the bushes, before changing into a SR Standard Trooper uniform. The terrorists slipped away in the boat.

The next morning
A small boat approached the island from last night, only to find it swarming with SR nuclear troopers checking radiation levels. The whole place was a nuke zone, and off limits. The island was screwed; the wildlife wern't going to live, but SR were trying to cover over their old nukes as much as possible.

The five contacts from last night were now being inspected by Lapse boarder patrol. Their canisters were false bottomed; above was fine Lapse beer and wine, below, the canister of doom.

The plan was now entering phase one....

Johnathon Wentworth was a government employee of Lapse. Basically, his job was to sit in an airconditioned office all day staring at a computer screen which had lapses spy sattelite network. The particular spy sattelite he was monitoring was one aimed at SR, a long time adversery of Lapse, and an enemy quite often. He was one of the few that was skilled enough to sit at this computer each day, that meaning taht he knew what was normal.

This day, it was a pretty average day until 10pm. the computer emmitted a strange bleeping noise that meant that somthing either screwed up, or in the rare circumstance, SR got off its arse to do somthing. Today it was the latter. The sattelite observed a small boat heading off the shore of SR. this in itself wasnt unusual, but the heat signatures the sattelite picked up were. it appeared, on the innitial scan that there were alot more peope on that boat than a normal boat could handle. He ordered a secondary scan on the boat which would give a much more detailed analysis. The return of it was similar to the first scan. It was heading towards Lapse, it was moving asi if it didnt want to be seen and it had more than 40 human lifeforms on it. John picked up the phone to call his supervisor.

In the morning Supreme overlord Time Lapse woke up at around the usual time. As usual he had his hower and got ready for another day of spamming forum 7. as he walked out his door he was greeted by his personal assistant.
"Sir, The minister of Defense wishes to see you immediatly. He says it is vital for the safety of Lapse that you come at the earliest possible time" Said the personal assistant. The Minister for defense didnt bullshit much, taht was how he got his position. If he said it was serious then it must have been pretty fucking serious.
"Ok, tell him that i will be there in an hour" replied Lord Time lapse
"Yes sir" signed off the PA.

At the government house, Time Lapse was rushed into the topsecret war room. it was totlly bug proof, and was swept every 30 minutes for terrorism or listening devices.
"Lord Time Lapse." greeted minister Groves. The minister for defense.
"Groves." replied Time Lapse. Even though this sounded cold and emotionless, this was the way both men prefered it. netier like to bullshit around the edges before getting to the point of a conversation.
"We have detected a ship from SR heading in the general direction of Lapse with our sattelites. we believe that it may be an infiltration mission. currently, they are heading in our directiona and are about 2/3 of teh way from here to SR. We ask how you want us to procede." Said Groves in his efficient manner.
"Use inititive Groves. You are the best tactition in Lapse. I dont want to screwup your ideas. just dont let them attack us. meanwhile, we shall put pressure upon SR. invite their leader over to Lapse to have a bit of a talk. see if you can sence anything in his manner whilst in teh conversation. If he knows of this, then we may be able to take offensive action from it. If not, we shall notify him when they do somthing, we will prove to him taht people are acting out of his orders. It could work by plunging his nation into disorder in an extreme circumstance."
"Will do Time Lapse"
Lord Time Lapse felt confident he would be able to get these people before they struck if indeed that was the plan.

That night back at the Sattelite monitoring room, John Smith watched the SR peopel set up a camp roughly halfway to Lapse from SR. It was obviously a military camp, but there was little that could be done before they made a move incase Lapse was not teh intended target.

The 'pleasure' boat was following Groves orders. Its job was to investigate the SR camp to see waht it was. It had suffered a 'problem' with teh motor and the island with the SR camp was the closest choice for the boat to go to. It was transmitting sound and vidio constantly by both radio and other wireless techniques. They would see waht is happening, and Lapse would know. If the boat went missing, Lapse could get an armada to the island within 2 hours. if the boat survived, teh detection equipment and recording equipment would pick up all details on the island, including traces of radiation if there were any, and any pathogens in the air. It was only 50 km from teh island now, and approaching fast. If they were there for evil purposes, SR wouldnt want this boat sniffing around.

I smell a ban for him. You're not being asked to help, so sit down. Ever heard of INSURGENTS? REBELS? TERRORISTS? Nope? Then you're not getting very far... but still.

Lapse, this needs better explaination:

A ship from SR with SR troopers headed to the small coastal island IN BETWEEN SR and BRISTLE. Another boat from Nymar headed to the same island. No boat went directly from SR to Lapse.

IC:

The SR trooper picked up the boat on the radar. "Sir, we have an incoming boat. We'll radio them in."

"Unidentified vessel, this is an SR restricted area. Be advised there are high levels of radioactivity in this area. SR is currently dumping radioactive waste on this disused island."

The radio chatter lasted for a fair bit. The captain turned to the trooper.
"Sir, they're broken down. We can't just leave them there..."
"Yes but there's no real safe place here on the island. The whole place is practically filled with Radioation! We're lucky that we're not getting attacked with disease and other pests! Where did this boat come from?"
"According to Dadelus sat-watch, somewhere from Bristle. Their jammer works much the same as ours, it's impossible to pinpoint where exactly."
"I don't like the sound of this. Alright, go pick them up, and shove them somewhere where they won't get in the way of the dumping procedure. Get rid of all electronic crap they have with them, half the stuff we got sent here with interferes with other electronic crap already, we don't need more adding to the mix."

The boat was pulled up along the island, and the crew moved to a small SR tent where they were fed and left alone. SR guards patroled the area, but apart from that, everyone just figured they were poor Lapse environmentalist activists who got lost and broke down. Their electronic equipment was taken to the Captain, in a turned off state.

"What the hell is this? Geiger counters? Video cameras? Transmitters? A fax machine? And this... a pathogen detector. Why the hell would they carry this crap out this far? Hmm, they're probably going to try to pin us as evil for dumping this crap here, but what the hell do they expect us to do? SRC has no more dumping ground space! Toss the rest of the crap, but give me the pathogen thing.. if they wanted it out here, there must be a reason."

SR Troopers took the pathogen detector. No airborne agents were detected anywhere on the island. The centre of the island wasn't checked, due to high levels of radiation. Either way, the crew were going to be on their way once technicians had fixed their ship... and they were leaving without their electronic devices.

The top brass were getting a little worried now that a suspected lapse craft had gotten to the island. Thankfully, their plan had worked. Troopers there had no idea that the Anthrax and Ebola had been handed over, and that boat was just a simple little Nymar cruise boat. It was carrying papers to say it had broken down near here and SR had fixed it up. Hopefully, Lapse boarder patrol would be more interested in fine beer than anything else.

OOC: yes, i said it was heading in the Direction of lapse. anyway... (and i doubt taht is a banning offense, youve said worse crap about me over ns)
IC:

In the topsecret war room the report came in from the greiger counter shortly before it was switched off. There were unusual amounts of radiation in the area. it also seemed taht the way they bustle the people away from the island quickly that they didnt want them tyo see anything. It was go time.

The armada had been readied in the days since the initial report of SR setting up camp on the island came in. There were 17 ships in total. with around 400 Swordtails, the elite Lapse troops. They had been fitted out with light radiation suits so they could with stand small amounts of radiation and still have some freedom of movement, but it was evened out taht the SR troops would be in the same problem.

The fleet of ships were due to arrive at the island in 2 hours. If SR was building a nuclear launch facility, it had to be gone quick.

OOC: Just stirring him up :D but seriously, he has no idea what's going on...

The SR trooper fiddled with the radiation suit he had on. It was very itchy and hot inside this suit, and every time he sneezed the face visor looked a mess. He was watching a few down on the ground imitating Intel workers in their stupid ads, where they danced in electrostatic resistant suits holding their new Intel Pentium whatever chip. As far as everyone was concerned, this was a holiday. Nevermind the old, derelict nukes down below.

The top brass had been wondering what to do with these stupid nukes, long left over from a secret weapons project back from the SR Bristle Missile Crisis. Technically, they wern't allowed to have them, at least not at that time. They instead left them festering, too dangerous to move, but finally they'd figured out a way to move them and shoved them here, halfway between Lapse and SR. The current debate was that Lapse might think this was a SR nuclear launch facility due to high geiger counter readings. That was their problem if they did, they'd probably die of radiation poisioning before they found the old derelict SR weapons deep below the ground. Still, the SR Troopers here wanted to know WHY they decided to move them now. They probably could be still used, but instead, they wanted them here. "Ours is not to reason why, ours but to do and die" they'd been quoted that day.

Whatever the case, the SR Trooper got bored with the dancing troopers and turned to the horizon. "What the hell is that?" he said under his breath. Over on the horizon, small, dark dots appeared. The trooper fumbled with his binoculars. No good, the visor rendered them useless. He finally gave up, took of the RadHood and shoved on his standard issue helmet. Finally, with the digital zoom in his Visor, the problem became apparent. They were warships... five visible now. "Oh sweet merciful crap... CODE RED! CODE RED!" The dancing SR troopers stopped their dancing and ran about grabbing weapons. The brass there decided to see if the rumors were true... if they were, SR had a nice little piece of defence here. The siens sounded as the brass and a small asortment of Strikers, the elite SR troopers, made it to the small section of the island they didn't touch.

It had been disused for many years, another relic left over from some conflict. It was a secret project that SR abandoned after the reports of Lapse subs heading for SR. They flipped on the old electronics, and the thing wirred to life. The shore defence cannons, hidden and concealed in rock, came to life. Some didn't work, but most did. Troopers were ordered in to man them. This facility was built during the time of the SR-Antign-Lapsian alliance... during the time SR could expand with little threat. It was originally to be a nuclear silo, but SR didn't have the nukes at the time, so they shoved cannons and stuff here as a means to intercept Lapse craft. It was shutdown in the SR Bristle Missile Crisis. Since then, it was no man's land. Now, it was a small extension of SR.

Lapse
14-04-2004, 01:43
Supreme Overlord Time Lapse read the recorded message. From it it seemed as if he wasnt hesitant, implying he probably didnt know of the SR forces on the island. But it did seem that he was taking aggresive action against Lapse, so perhaps he did know of somthing, not neccasarily the island forces but perhaps somthing else. They would have to upgrade security a bit.

Currently, only the highest ranked people in Lapse knew of the island problem. All of the ships had come to a stop now, and the spy sattelite had helped apse again. a number of archaic defense systems hidden in the rocks had become apparent when SR had put them online. previously, they could not be seen but bow they were swarming with soldiers attemp;ting to get them to work. They wouldnt reach the fleet from where they were but if the fleet did come into range they could become a problem. The fleet consisted of a 7 Catfish gunboats, 4 Catfish Skirmish ships, 5 catfish Skirmish II class ships and most importantly to the plans, a Bristilian Aircraft carrier. The Aircraft carrier was a brand new craft, only a test model. It used the streamlined shape as the other bristilian class ships, travelled relatively fast for an aircraft carrier and could hold far more aircraft than a Catfish Aircraft carrier.

Soon after nighfall, 6 bombers left the Aircraft carrier with an escort of 4 fightersthe bombers split into2 groups. The first group went to the South side of the island, whilst the second group went to the North side.

OOC: Your turn :D
SR
14-04-2004, 02:11
The small searchlight scanned the sky. The trooper manning it was getting annoying. "What the hell is that droning? Oi Jack! Turn off that radio!"
"It's not me! Mark?"
"Nup. Holy shit what was that?!"
The troopers looked up.
"Oh crap! I hope this place has flak cannons!"

The air raid siren sounded. It died for a few seconds then came back to life. A little shaky, but still in operation. Thankfully, there were a few flak cannons; no missiles, just flak cannons, the old tech of yesteryear. Still good in their own right though. Better than nothing. The bombers would have to slow down to hit targets on the little 10KM diameter island, with 900 troops on it... there wasn't much room to move.

Troopers jumped into the flak cannons; some were rusted so bad they wouldn't turn, but almost all of them were working. The troopers wern't quite sure how to use these old pieces of technology, but they learned fast. They fired warning shots at the Lapse aircraft, but nothing that would kill or destroy the aircraft.

Back at SR...
The brass were getting a little worried now. With Lapse ready to attack, SR had to respond. The small, faint radio report told a scary story:

"They... somewhere overhead... possible lapse fi-... -nd bombers wi- ... flak cannons... -eed assistance!"

The brass decided it was time to cause a fuss. The news was yet to state that the terrorists had planted the Anthrax and Ebola, but that wasn't to say they hadn't. It might take a while for an infection to be detected by Lapse... or they hadn't even got there yet.

Onboard the SS Lampost
The ship had the dumbest name in the entire SR naval fleet. The SS Lampost... who came up with that one? But it was SR's latest aircraft carrier, with newer technology and (above all) better air defence. The standard SR F-16 aircraft were prepared for launch, for intercept. There were no bombers for this mission; there was no need. the 7 fighters were prepared for launch. Two SeaHawk helicopters were ready to deal with any submarine problems or provide an easy escape method. In that case, SR would bring in Blackhawk choppers to save the SR troopers. They had no problems leaving lapse to drown in Radioactive crap.

Another 500 men were displaced amongst three more ships, two destroyers and one cruiser. Three LA class submarines also prowled the ocean depths. To Lapse, this was going to look like an insanely major SR operation; SR's naval fleet was none too good, with SR pumping more into the airforce and ground forces. For SR to shove boats into the mix of things was pretty much unheard of. The final ship was a MCM-1 Avenger mine laying ship. The final piece.

The ships were heading for the island, it would take them three hours. SR had a longer hike than Lapse, since the island was closer to him than to SR. Due to that, SR was going to make every trip count.

At a secret SR facility, deep within Area THETA
The highest brass and Soldant watched as technicians turned on the "Blackout" device. It was a joint venture between SR and Terra, for the secure facility where the SR cabinet stayed. It killed a lot of satelite spying abilities, rendering it invisible to all spy satelites and radar. it was a tricky piece of engineering, but it was preferable than to use Dadelus to kill Lapse's satelite. It also broke down a fair bit.

The SR people slowly moved the ICBM into position. The silo doors were closed, so it didn't look any different from any other of SR's missile facilities. In reality, it was ready for launch.

"You know what to do," said Commander Soldant "should things get out of hand."
Lapse
14-04-2004, 03:46
The radar on the Aircraft carrier was performing a long range radar opbservations for any approaching SR forces. It suddenly bleeped. This bleep implied that here was somthing big and most likely, enemy.
"Get teh spy satts to take a look at that, we are still several hundred kilomenters away but it could be dangerous." said the officer on deck. When the report came in several minutes later it said that there were 4 ships heading in teh direction of the island from SR.
"Ok, i want several things done. first, scan the radio, see if we can track whaqt station thatey are using to communicate it. listen in. I may want you to flood it later but not yet. Secondly, send 2 fighters to investigate the ships, it may be that they are not SR ships, rather thay are just somebody else who is stubling in our direction. Third, call up for reinforcements, ask for another aircraft carrier and atleast another 1000 troops. also get some torpedo subs and heavy ships. Fourthly, do not engage these forces until we have a positive ID taht they are SR. this is a large naval force for SR, and we dont want to go hurt some other nation out of suspicion. once we have an ID and a definite figure on what types of ships we haev we will start. finnaly, order 200 troops to land on teh island whilst the bombing raids are on. see if we can catch them off guard."
The person he just told this to ran off to process the orders.

The planes attacking teh island reported back to the fleet that they were under fire fom Flak cannons. This wasnt to larger issue, as long as the travveled fast enouigh the relics couldnt hit them, but when the bombers slowed down they could have a problem.
"BRS Firebird, this is Red Leader. we are under fire from flak cannons, we cannot slow down enough to drop the bombs without being hit." said the wing comander in the air
"Red Leader, we advise you to bomb the flak cannon sites, use your machine guns if you must but take them out of operation. alternatively buzz around alot keep them shooting at you. they will eventually run out of ammo or over heat. they are not built for repetitive firing" said the communicastions officer on the Firebird
"Affirmitive Firebird, we will attempt to neutralise the Flak cannon sites so we can bomb the rest of the island. if we suffer 50% damage we will return to ship. Red Leader out."
"Fire bird out."
"Red leader to red group, commence manouver 18BG"
the group commenced their run

The run on the flak cannons was very tactical. First the Bombers would come in several hundred meters in the air, above the cloud, they would drop several bombs, not nessacarily tryoing to hit teh sites, mean while, the fighters would come in and try to destroy the sites using missile and machine gun. it was a very hard manouver, and would only work when the pilots were extremmely well trained. Luckily, Red group were some of the best pilots in Lapse.

The first inflatable boats landed on teh western shore of the island. withing 10 minutes there were 200 soldiers on the beach. 100 went to the north, whilst 100 went south. The bombs were just beginning to drop.
SR
14-04-2004, 04:09
"IMCOMING!"
The bombs were dropping, and to make matters worse, teams had found Lapse troops trying to get onto the island. The MG42 positions were now chattering away, suppressing and killing the Lapse troops. The ships had now arrived within Aircraft striking distance. The Flak cannons were now fighting full, aiming to kill. Then, SR launched their aircraft.

"All wingmen report in. Echo 1 standing by"
"Echo 2, standing by"
"Echo 3, standing by"
"Bravo 1, standing by."
"Bravo 2, standing by"
"Bravo 3, standing by"
"This is Overlord, we're preped."
"Rodger that, all switch to secure frequency."
"This is echo, we're locked."
"Bravo is locked."
"Overlord, we're locked."
"Rodger. Echo hit the bombers, bravo provide cover. Overlord will hold short and provide aerial recon."

Down below, in the water, more SR troopers were heading for the shore. This was blowing up into a major conflict, probably the worst since SR and Lapse were created. NEVER had there been open hostilities between the two nations. This was going to be bad, for both nations. The next 500 were about to land... but there was another 500 on their way... plus a special supprise.

Back in the air...

"This is Echo 1, we're moving in on the bomber. Make the flak stop!"
"This is 2, argh! I've got one on my tail!"
"This is Bravo 3, hold on echo 2!"
"Argh! I can't shake him!"
"Damnit! Lock damn you! Lock!"
"This is echo one, missiles away!"
The missiles snaked toward one of the bombers, striking on the right wing.

"YeeHAR! Echo 1 reports we have a hit!"
The ground crew cheered as the wing exploded.
"This is echo 2! I'm losing altitude! ARgh! Mayday! Mayday! I'm going down!"
"Eject kid, eject!"
"It's stuck! Arhghg! MEDIC!"
Echo two hit the ground and went up in flames.
"This is Echo one, we've lost 2! I say again, echo two is down!"
The ground crew increased their flak efforts.

Back at SR...
The technicians fixed the co-ordinates of the missile. The blackout generator had died a few times, but thankfully nothing was revealing anything about the facility yet. When the word was given, Lapse would probably know, but there'd be little he could do to hit SR so deep within SR Control.

"Attention. The missile is aimed. All units report to arming stations."

The units reported to the arming stations. There were five keys, all of which had to be raised, the glass broken, and the keys turned at near the same time. Then, five buttons were raised. Once these were pushed, the silo doors opened. Finally, one large red button, made the difference.

They were ready.
Baking Soda
14-04-2004, 04:16
Commander Soda sat down at his desk, and checked his email. "Hmm... 'Urgent-War with Lapse'. Damnit, load!"
A few moments later, the email finished loading. "Stupid Hotmail... Now, let's see..."
Soda read the long email explaining the situation, and then picked up his M&M's phone. About an hour later, Baking Soda soldiers stood at their bases, organized in great big rows, sporting their new uniforms, and focussing their attention at the huge television screens looming above them.

"Attention, loyal warriors of Baking Soda! We are once again at war with Lapse, and once again, with no reason for it! Now, as you all know, The Eternal Oktoberfest starts later this month, but if you don't fight, there will be no Eternal Oktoberfest. Not for you, not for you wife, not for your children, and especially not for your nephews..."

In no time, the soldiers were steaming with rage, waiting to be deployed into the battlefield. Baking Soda patriotism works like that. The first force to leave was Baking Soda was the BS Strikeforce First Division, heading toward, uh, island where SR is at.

The large transport submarines were quickly spotted by Lapse forces, and in no time, bombs had taken out well over a third of BS forces (approximately 14,500 men, or ten boats). The rest of the forces were lucky enough to have strong armour and a crew that decided to dive in time. Soon, seventeen submarines had landed at the island and its surrounding area.

SR troops ran about, fighting the assault at hand. Bombers loomed above, raining incendiaries upon the island. The first sub opened, and the BS troops swarmed out.

An SR squad leader saw the first landing craft. He pulled out his binoculars to see the all-too-familiar flag on the side of the greyish craft – black, red, black. He could barely make out the men coming out, due to the lack of light, but then, one stood in the sun.

"What the... Is he wearing lederhosen?"

OOC: Yes, Lapse, my troops are wearing kevlar lederhosen. And, sorry if I'm interfering with anything, but you cannot deny the lederhosen!

OOC: Soda although I'd love to have your support, under the RoE it's Lapse and SR only, with allies negoicable. In other words, Lapse won't let you play :( and I can't see negiociation with him.

In retrospect, Lapse can't have allies either.

The two fighters sent to investigate the enemy fleet were still 25 km away when on teh radar 7 fast moving dots appeared. enemy jets.
"Firerbird this is green group, wing of 7 enemy jets spotted traveling in the direction of the island. Request permission to attack"
"Permission granted green leader. destroy as many as you can before they reach the island. they may not want to attack you as they are rushing to get to the island. we will also enforce the fighters on the island with 12 fighters from blue group."

Green group was only 2 km away from the enemyu fighters now. soon they would have visual and they could launch missiles at them. now it was 1km, 700m, 500m, missile locking on, 300m, missile firing, 100m, machine gun firing, 0m, -100m, jets looping around to get on the tailsof the enemy.

On the beach, the Lapse troops were taking significant casualties. They were pinned down by machine gun fire, and couldnt get out of the sand dunes. A wounded person screamed for help down the beach. The landing had been going fine, then some moron had fallen down a dune and broken their leg. he then started screamiung which alerted the enemy to their position. luckily, the bombs were falaling now so alot of the enemy were tied up, unfortunatly, there were machine gun positions further up teh beach and they were aiming quite well. already 18 people had been put out of action, either killed or wounded. Commander Requin spoke into his radio.
"Fire bird, this is Nemesis 1. we are encountering machine gun fire and are taking heavy losses. equesting bombardment from sea of enemy positions."
The reply came back : "Nemesis 1, we will commence fire shortly. ensure all troops are in safe positions before we open fire."

The Comanche choppers were now taking off from the other three boats. They'd been stored there after they were picked up off the coast of SR. It wasn't the smartest idea, but they were here now. This was a dangerous move, using the comanche choppers, but it'd make life HELL for the invading troops. The comanches hovered for a bit, and the Lapse troops looked up. Then came the hail of rockets.

57mm rockets fired fast and furious from the comanche, directly where the Lapse soldiers were aiming. The other one was hailing the place with its Vulcan cannon, while the final chopper was flying off to the other landing site. The comanche firing the rockets suddenly got knocked from the sky.

"What the? This is gold one, we've lost three! I say again! Three is down! There's a beacon down there, he might've survived the crash!"
"This is overlord, we copy you. What the? Enemy jets near the carrier!"
"This is the SS Lampost, all crews to action stations. Prepare to fire the SAMs."

The ships were now preped for AA combat. The comanches were mixing it up for the ground invasion. The troopers were doing their best with the flak cannons. The ICBM was aimed, but not yet armed. The figher jets were still taking down whatever they could.

Back at SR
The situation was uncertain. Neither team had the upper hand here. Lapse was putting up a massive offense, but SR were putting up a good defence. Whatever Lapse threw at SR, SR could counter, but not much room left over for rest. Either one side was going to withdraw, this was going to head to a nuclear war, or they'd both be defeated by fatigue. SR wasn't particularly worried about Lapse taking the island; all that was there was radioactive waste and the old installation, devoid of useful technology. If worst came to worst, SR would pull out, detonate the facility, and return home. What did Lapse have to gain? An island filled with SR's radiocative waste.

"Hmm... if it gets too bad, we'll kill the facility and evac. There's nothing of value there. If they dare follow us, Lapse gets the nuke right in the face. If they dare enter SR waters, Lapse is screwed. Period. Prepare SRC for invasion."

The orders were given. Today was judement day. It was now known to SR as THE BATTLE OF BRISLTE.

two of the jets pulled out of their attack run of the Flak cannons. they headed west until they could see the helicopters. then they launched there missiles.

The missiles were picked up by the choppers.
"Oh hell! Evade!"
The choppers hit the FLARE button, sending out bright flares while strafing away. The missiles locked onto the flares and collided with them.
"Countermeasure successful! Start strafing runs! If you get a shot, lock onto them and fire a missile! They're designed for choppers, but we might get lucky!"

"argh! MG fire! Strafe!"
The choppers strafed out of the way as the jets passed and shot.
"To hell with this! This is Gold one, requesting permission to pull out."
The strafed... no message. Then:

"Attention all SR forces. This is Commander Soldant. I'm taking command of your mission now. You are ordered to set the Autofire devices onto your weapons, grab your sidearms, and prepare to evac. I say again, evac. We're bringing you home!"

The SR forces set the Autofire on their rifles. To Lapse, this would make it look like SR was losing the fighting spirit. A retreat would make it look the same. SR left the documents about the radiocative waste, and then a false document detailing a SR launch facility far out west, nearer to Lapse. They ran for the beach, and jumped into Blackhawks and small amphibious landing craft. They started their evac.

They were sure Lapse was going to follow, or sink the SR craft. This is exactly what they wanted.

Back at SR...
Commander Soldant smiled. He watched as Lapse forces tried to encircle the SR ships. The subs would make it home, the others probably wouldn't, but the main goal were the subs. Should Lapse follow and get near SR, SR would enact their plan. It'd wipe out this part of the Lapse fleet, devistate the nation of Lapse, and give SR the upper hand.

SR broadcast to lapse:

[code:1:0210624c1c]LAPSE, this is your last chance to back off. This is a radioactive area. You can either choose to back off and keep this radioactive crap, or follow us to SR and meet your doom. If you dare follow us to SR, you will pay for it with your people's lives. That is SR's ultimateum. You want the island? Take the island. You value your people? Then push off, or you'll see what SR has in store for you!"[/code:1:0210624c1c]

The blackout generator was working much better now, and SR had a chance to make them pay. The countdown to armageddon was on.

they are pulling out was Time Lapses first thought when he saw the SR forces evacuating. It's a trap was his second.
"Order the Octrical fleet to continue circling. Ensure we capture ALL ships alive. We must find out the reason for SR being there, and what they are doing with radioactive stuff there."
"Yes sir," said an officer.

OOC: Just so you know Lapse, there is nothing on the island that can actually link SR with the virus. The forces on the island DON'T KNOW of the transaction between the man and the insurgents. Their task was to dump radioactive waste. You can look, but there won't be anything there.

Also, I think it is a bit unrealistic to start attacking SR forces who were dumping radioactive waste.. but never the less..

IC:
The base exploded. Quite literally exploded. The old failsafe measure was working perfectly. It took all the cannons, buildings, and files. All of the files were declassified from the SR-B-MC anyway, so it didn't make a difference. The only worry SR had was radioactive waste getting kicked up from below. Nobody really cared about that much either. If it happened, it happened. It was Lapse's problem.

The subs had broken through. They'd left a while ago, while everyone else was still boarding their boats. Blackhawks had also flew off to antother SR carrier, with 8 Destroyers and 9 cruisers standing by. To top it all off, the other SR carrier was heading in with 5 subs to take care of anything near there. With 1/3 of all troopers safe (or en-route to a secure location) and Lapse forces attempting to trap SR, the mission was a success. Lapse now had a bunch of useless captives, an island of radioactive waste, and a major fight on his hands. What Lapse didn't know was that many of these men had been trained in ways to take over an enemy ship from a captive cell. They were going to break out, get out, and then bomb the ship to the bottom of the ocean. If Lapse executed them, SR had grounds to go straight to war, and Lapse would pay with CIVILIAN lives. SR didn't care; if it came from Bristle, it should be killed.

Commander Soldant smiled.
"And thus we enter mid-game."

"Sir, we have Subs attempting to get away. it appears as if they are using the other ships as a distraction." said a sonar operator
"How many?" asked his officer
"We can see 2 sir"

"Yes sir"

The 8 ships split off from teh fleet to chase after the fleeing submarines
SR

The SR blockade saw the subs coming, followed by Lapse fleet.
"Lapse fleet, you are dangerously close to SR waters. This is the SR advance guard, you are following casulty submarines designed to transport injured personell. If you attack, expect severe repercusions from SR forces. This is your choice: stand back, or follow us to SR. You will not get your chance to hit us here. If you dare follow to SR, expect the entire region of SR Control to retaliate."

The subs pulled in alongside the ships. They started to turn for SRC. If the Lapse forces dared follow or open fire, Lapse would wish he didn't disrupt SR.
