An official release from the Colonial Government of New Hamptonshire
From: Robert Frey, Leader of the Freedom Party and Sir Henry Harbruk, Leader of the Hamptonshire Unity Party.
To: Nations of the Commonwealth and the Unforgiven

The People of the Colony of New Hamptonshire have been closely following the situation in Terra and Neo Pacifica. We all feel that New Hamptonshire is now in a crucial period. Some factions wish that New Hamptonshire declare its independence from the Hamptonian League. However, both sides have agreed that it must not come to war. We ask that a large security force be deployed to our island. Only with such a large force respected by both sides of the mainstream will insure a fair vote on independence. There are fringe groups that wish violence, We ask for peace.

We thank you.

OCC: The Hamptonian League is Union of Interdependent Republics consisting of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire, the Incorporated States of Ryanapolis, the Empire of Zoidbergistan, the Colony of New Hamptonshire, and the Holy Republic of New Petersonia. It is a union committed to mutual defense and free trade.

I'm you understand how we cannot commit to a large number of forces to oversee your referedum, but in the interests of true democracy and to make sure your people carry out your indepedence the peaceful way, even though we're not a strong believer in seperatists and believe in national unity we will deploy about 500 hundred peacekeepers to the island in the interests of peace.

Seeing as how Fluffywuffy has ceased from its aggressive ways, we see no need to remain in Terra Pacifica any longer. We have recieved word from the Colony of New Hamptonshire and have made a ruling on their decision to vote on independence.

We recognise that all nations or colonies should have there rightful say in the world. The Defense Forces are enroute to the colony to observe the elections as a neutral nation. Majesto takes no sides on the independence vote, but will ensure that the democratic process flows smoothly. Any attempts to slow or stop this process will be delt with harshly. I am sure that my allies in the Unforgiven and the Commonwealth will agree with me as well.

We are asking all parites in this matter to recognise our neutrality and observer status. I would also like to make it clear that our troops will have no qualms about acting in self defense or in upholding the democratic process. I thank you for your time, and I do not forsee any problems in this.

An official release from the government of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire
From: Prime Minister Louis Cessar and Minister of Health and Domestic Security Christopher Gurnsbac
To: Nations of the Commonwealth and the Colony of New Hamptonshire

The Government of the Grand Duchy is both heartened and shocked by the events in New Hamptonshire. We are glad that all mainstream sides have decided to pursue a peaceful and democratic course instead of war. We are shocked because we did not think intra Hamptonian League relations were so poor.

This Government has decided to endorce the idea of a vote. However, we ask that it be a multi-proposal ballot. Instead of an independence or dependence vote, the people should decide exactly what kind of relationship they want to have with the Grand Duchy.

While we are not comfortable with foreign troops acting as security agents, we do not see an alternative. The 12,000 Royal Army, Royal Marine, and Royal Airforce personnel stationed in New Hamptonshire have been ordered to remain on base until further notice. The Royal Navy has been ordered to move all warships into international waters. However, if New Hamptonshire becomes violent and destructive toward property or personnel of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire, this government will be forced to act.

For the Glory of Hamptonshire.
New Hamptonshire

The People of New Hamptonshire thank those nations that have pledged troops. We intend to have an election to decide our relationship with the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire.

Options:
A) Total Independence and leave the Hamptonian League
B) Status Quo (Colony of Hamptonshire)
C) Free Association Commonwealth
D) Protectorate
E) Independence but remain in the Hamptonian League

In the meantime, the Colonial Government of New Hamptonshire is calling up the Colonial Guard, 75,000 troops, to provide security and the polling places.

The People of New Hamptonshire also demand the removal of Governor-General Thomas Dirsken. His threats of use of police force to break up peaceful pro-Independence rallies are intolerable.

"Unity through Peace."

An official release from the government of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire

The Government of the Grand Duchy hereby consents to demands for a referendum on the status of New Hamptonshire. It is our hope that the people of New Hamptonshire see the wisdom in remaining closely affiliated to the Grand Duchy.

If the majority of the people of New Hamptonshire vote for independence, we will be forced to respect that position. However, if the majority vote for continued dependence on Hamptonshire, We will devote ourselves to that endeavor.

"Victory is Life."

Official Release from the Presidential Office of The Democratic Republic of Shang-Ti

As we have witnessed, and are working towards peaceful solutions to, the Terra Pacifica/Neo Pacifica conflict, we are greatly pleased with the stance our diplomatic ally Hamptonshire has elected to take. The government of Shang-Ti believes in the sanctity of freedom – personal, civic, political, and economic. We believe the idea of separation, or seceding, from a republic is a serious thing, and should be a last resort. We implore the Colonial officials to work with the government of Hamptonshire in order to resolve any socio-political issues prior to convening an election.

However, if there is no choice but to proceed with elections on this matter, The Democratic Republic of Shang-Ti supports the peaceful process that has been outlined by New Hamptonshire.

I am asking that you please have your Colonial Guard stand down. Security at the polling places will be handled by myself and Terra Pacifica. Hamptonshire asked his army to stand down, and, in the interests of democracy, I am asking that your Guard return to their base as not to cause any conflicts.

Furthermore, if any of my security force see that members of your army or police force are being unfairly harsh on your people, we will step in at the defense of your people. I hope that you agree with these requests. Thank you for your time. [/code:1:678dec8ea4]

Protests in Paradise City

As all our viewers know, the Colony of New Hamptonshire is scheduled to have a referendum on independence within months. Today, the first large scale protests and marches took place in Paradise City, seat of the Colonial Government. Both the pro and anti independence camps demonstrated in the streets and markets of the capital.

Robert Frey, Leader of the Freedom Party, was present at the main pro-Independence rally and addressed the crowd:

"Fellow Citizens of New Hamptonshire, we are at a crossroads. No longer will we have to answer to a government thousands of miles away. No longer will we have to sware loyality to the Grand Duke. When New Hamptonshire goes to the polls, we will gain our independence. We will be our own nation, free and democratic.

For New Hamptonshire. For the Future!"

The pro-Independence marches took place on the eastside of Paradise. Protestors were peaceful and the Capital Police gently escorted the protesters from the Eastside Market Plaza to the steps of the Governor-General's Residence.

Tens of thousands of peaceful protesters gather outside the Governor-General's Residence

Activity on the westside of Paradise, was not as fortunate and nor as serene.

Sir Henry Harbruk, Leader of the Hamptonshire Unity Party, started to address the anti-Independence crowd but before he could finish his speech, he was hit by rotten fruit and stones. Before the crowd could subdue the malcontents, Sir Henry was knock unconscious by a stone's blow to the head.

A transcript of the speech:

"People of New Hamptonshire, listen to me and listen to your hearts. We are all Hamptonians. Our forefathers came to this island in order to form a new place where the ideals and spirit of Hamptonian democracy would live on. This place is it. I ask you- What evil has Hamptonshire done to us? What malicious laws have been forced upon us? How many New Hamptonian residents have been imprisoned without consent or due process? The answer to all of those question is none.

When you go to the polls you don't have to choose keeping New Hamptonshire as a Colony. We can become a Protectorate, we can become a Commonwealth, we can even become a principality. I ask that we all recognize that we are an inseparable part of Hamptonshire. Perhaps, some day, New Hamptonshire will be ready to stand on its own. Now is not the time, we have neither the ability nor the wish, we have..."

The anti-Independence protesters did not fair much better than Sir Henry. On their way toward the Colonial Government Headquarters, Colonial Guard Policemen strictly controlled the crowd. The Commandant of the Colonial Guard issued an order calling for the cessation of the march on grounds of the absence of a protest permit. Upon refusal to immediately disperse, the Colonial Guard Police started to arrest anti-Independence protesters.

Police indicate 12,000 protesters were arrested. Reports indicate 114 injured and 4 deaths.

Robert Frey has denounced the unfortunate violence but stated that the protesters willing disobeyed a lawful order from the Colonial Guard.

The Hamptonshire Unity Party has called for an immediate investigation, however due to the hospitalization of Sir Henry and the arrest of most of the top leadership of the Party, the anti-Independence factions are divided upon the actions to be taken. Protests are expected to continue until Referendum Day.

We'll have more for you as soon as we have it.

Now for sports...

Welcome to the Hamptonshire News Network
http://heatbunkers.cool.ne.jp/logo140.gif

We have just received word from the Prime Minister's office that he is going to address the nation concerning the current violence in the Colony of New Hamptonshire.

Prime Minister Cessar is stepping toward to podium now, let's watch-

"Ladies and gentlemen of the Grand Duchy and our allies, I come to you in troubling times. The Colony of New Hamptonshire will in 6 months hold a referendum to decide their independence.

This Government has supported that idea from the moment the Colonial Government of New Hamptonshire announced it.

This Government even allowed outside nations to act as a police force in the hope of a fair and democratic election.

Ladies and gentlemen, our hopes are collapsing before our eyes. The continuing violence against anti-Independence supporters has taken New Hamptonshire like a storm. What started as an isoloted event in Paradise City has spread across much of New Hamptonshire. The leaders of the Hamptonshire Unity Party have been arrested, imprisoned, or killed by attackers. The Governor-General's Residence is under siege, and the Colonial Guard is acting as a political army.

It is the intention of this Government that the future referendum be free and democratic at all costs. The current situation in New Hamptonshire will not allow a free and democratic vote to take place. If the Freedom Party does not bring the rampaging forces under control and does not recall the Colonial Guard, We will be forced to act. While we hope that the nations that have sent security forces to New Hamptonshire will reestablish order, we are not ruling out the deployment of Hamptonian armed forces.

Thank you and may God bless the Grand Duchy."

That speech is very close to what our political analysts thought he would say. It has been indicated, by unnamed sources, that Prime Minister Cessar has taken the lead on the crisis in New Hamptonshire. The Grand Duke is thought to support the establishment of a Free Association Commonwealth, but He has kept quiet on the New Hamptonshire question in public.

We should perhaps remind our viewers that Prime Minister Cessar used to be a Field Marshal. He commanded the 5th Army Group and is counted by most experts as a master in the field of military tactics and urban warfare.

Stay with us for up to the minute updates...

The tiny Majestoian peacekeeping force of 4,500 was scattered all around Paradise City quelling riots and dispersing crowds. Everyone could feel tension brewing all around the city.

In one incident on the west side, Sir Henry Harbruk, Leader of the Hamptonshire Unity Party, was viciously attacked while delievring a speech. After this, the Colonial Guard began to disperse and arrest anti-independence marchers. The meeting was one of the most violent protests ever seen on the isand, 4 were killed and over 100 were injured.

There was little that the Majestoians could do, as it seemed like the Colonial Guard was refusing to work with them. There were even some minor skirmishes on the south end of the city between peacekeepers and the guardsmen, but no injuries were reported. The squads downtown reported a large pro-independance march around the Governor-General's residence. That march was by far peaceful.

Sadly though, as night fell upon the city, a state of lawlessness ensured. The peaceful march downtown, when asked by Colonial Police to disperse, turned violent and attempted to storm the Governor-General's mansion. The Colonial Guard is becoming more and more gestapo like, breaking up peaceful vigils and raiding the houses of key Unity Party mebers. There were reports of widespread looting all around the city.

The Majestoian Army began to regroup in the north end of the city and was waiting for daybreak so they could go downtown and attempt to free the Governor-General from siege. Because of the sheer number of protesters and the increaing number of violent protests, the Majestoian commander asked for an additional Brigade of 2,500 men to assist in regaining control of the city before the lawlesness could envelope the island.

Breaking News from the CNC
http://www.19art.net/clients/zpjl/ico/cnc-logo.jpg

Greeting Fellow Citizens of New Hamptonshire. The most honorable Robert Frey, Leader of the Freedom Party has announced that he will release a statement right now:

"The People of New Hamptonshire will not allow any foreign power to dictate terms to us or to interfere in our internal affairs. As Speaker of the Colonial Government Legislature, I do hereby activate all units of the Colonial Guard. Paradise City must not again full under the authority of a foreign nation!

My fellow citizens, the allies of Hamptonshire have turned against us. They do not seek democracy as the Freedom Party does. They are intent on keeping us a subserviant colony of Hamptonshire.

If Majesto agrees to withdraw from Paradise City, we will not be forced to evict them from our Capital City. If they leave, they will be welcome to provide security for Referendum Day.

If we have to fight off Majesto with force, by God we will.

We will fight all of those that would see us returned to dependence.

Never give up, never surrender!"

What a glorious speech from such a great man.

In other news, the Colonial Guard Police have continued to arrest anti-Colonial Government activists. Commandant Greely of the CGP stated that "All indications show that the treasonist Unity Party leaders will all be arrested an imprison by the end of the month. Then the Referendum will be free and democratic."

New Hamptonshire patriots have been reported encircling Ft. Sheridan, the base where 12,000 Hamptonian troops have barricaded themselves.

That's all for now.

----------------------------------------------------
New Hamptonshire Forces:

Colonial Guard- 95,000 troops (Think of National Guard Troops)
Capital Police- 13,000 Officers (Standard Police officers)
Colonial Guard Police- 65,000 Officers (Think of the State Police)

The Police forces are only equiped with HDC .50 cal hand guns, light kevlar armor, smoke grenades, some M-16s, some urban assault vehicles. (Basically whatever a modern well equiped police department/SWAT team would have.)

The Colonial Guard- The have a few dozen A-10 Warthogs, a couple helicopters, 200 T-90 tanks, 200 ZLTs, Z50 rifles, M-16s, a few APCs, and other assorted hardware.

-"Sir, I must report sentries are observing a group of Colonial Guard tanks approach the fort. Your orders?
-"Move what tanks and anti-armor units we have to guard the Fort's main entrance."
-"Yes, sir."
-"No matter what, they must not take Hanger 3-C."
-"Understood, Colonel."

The commander of Ft. Sheridan, Colonel Elizabeth Bernard, attempts to keep the 12,000 Hamptonian troops calm and secure without having to resort to violence.

The 12,000 Royal Army, Marines, and Airforce personnel trapped in Ft. Sheridan are far from the fearsome warriors of the regular Hamptonian military. The Hamptonian troops stationed in New Hamptonshire were primarily green and freshly trained troops, engineers, and reservists serving 2 month tours of duty.

Before the order was issued to retreat to Ft. Sheridan Colonel Bernard could only get a handful of light tanks, towed artillery units, light arms, 4 helicopters, and 12 jets. What couldn't be moved to Ft. Sheridan was transferred to the Zoidbergistan Central Military Base. Now they were left in a secluded part of the countryside, under-armed and out manned.

Perhaps most disturbingly was what was located in Hanger 3-C...

Ft. Sheridan was designed as a military research center. Before the current crisis Hanger 3-C was used for research in nuclear fission/fusion warheads. Unfortunately, while most of the warheads were evacuated before the currently situation turned sour, two warheads were not tranfered because of size limitations. Two 2.5 megaton active thermonuclear warheads are located in Hanger 3-C, less than 1000 meters from the perimeter of the Fort.

In the Presidential Office, President Richard Hoffman was sitting back in his chair, reading the newspaper. In the headlines, it detailed the events unfolding in New Hamptonshire.

Richard frowned, and picked up the telephone. Pressing the Speed dial button, he began to call James Madison, his foriegn minister.

Two Hours Later.....

James Madison and Richard Hoffman were sitting in the Presidential Office, discussing the events in New Hamptonshire.

"Sir, our policy has always been to not intervene in the civil affairs of a nation,", protested James.
Richard looked over the newspaper, "Ah yes, but as you can see, violence is coming against both sides of the conflict. James, these are our allies. We cant just allow this to break out into open conflict."
James was disatisfied, "So, what do you we suggest we do?"
The President smiled, "We can enter a presense into New Hamptonshire as a neutral force. Not helping either side, but working to prevent violence."
"With the Hamptonshirian's consent of course?", questioned James
"Yes, of course. Look, I am all for referendums. I am pleased that our Hamptonshirian counterparts have chosen to go the democratic way. But the people still fight against them. I think they need our help, the last thing they need, we need, the last thing Concordia needs, is open civil war in a major member-nation.", replied the President.
"Very well," replied James, "I will draft a telegram to the government in Hamptonshire immediatly..."

James stood to his feet, nodded to the President in respect, and turned to leave the room.

Subject: Violence in New Hamptonshire

Dear Sirs,

Our administration in Anatoba has noticed the growing situation in New Hamptonshire. We are pleased that your government has chosen the peaceful, and democratic course of action, yet we still fear that due to recent events, that the situation may break out into open conflict. Therefore, we ask that we are able to send a peacekeeper force into New Hamptonshire, ten or twenty thousand, until such time is requested for them to be removed.

We hope that you choose the best course of action, and we are more than happy to provide these forces in New Hamptonshire.

Your friend and ally,

Back in Majesto, once this latest ultimatum hit the morning news, the government was in an uproar. In a resounding speech on the steps of his mansion, the Most Supreme Dictator For Life said,

"As many of you know by now, we are a neutral peacekeeping force on the island of Hamptonshire, which I would like to remind everyone, is still a colony of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire, wheather they like it or not. Our force's neutrality was recognised by both sides.

The actions of the past few days have forced me to come to the realization that the island is no longer in the hands of the Governor-General, the rightful leader of New Hamptonshire. The island is slowly becoming a rouge state, the Colonial Guard is becoming a gestapo, and the outlook is becoming bleeker and bleeker. As I adress the world at this very moment, a force of Colonial Guardsmen is encircling Fort Sheridan, which is filled with 12,000 troops of the Grand Duchy, who may I remind you, has declared that there army remain in their base throughout the duration of the referendum. This rouge government, led by Robert Frey, the Speaker of the Colonial Government Legislature, is eliminating his enemys and taking control. I will not tolerate this terrorism under the ideals of freedom and independance.

I would like to state that the government of this island is closely allied with the Grand Duchy. Even though our forces are currently neutral, we are ready, willing, and able to stand in the defense of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and the Governor-General of Hamptonshire. Mr. Frey, if your army maliciously fires upon either the troops of the Grand Duchy, or the peacekeepers sent by Majesto, I will have no choice but to interpret that as an act of war on myself and my allies. Although I hope that you don't needlessly escalate the situation, I will not back down in the face of fear

He posed for pictures, wave to the crowd, turned and walked back into his mansion. "I will not be intimidated by terrorists. If Frey really wants a war, a war he'll have." He said under his breath. As he was about to close the door to his mansion, he yelled out, "WE WILL NOT STAND DOWN MISTER FRAY," so that the whole crowd and that all of the cameras could pick that up. He had planned on that being one a newspaper headline all around the world. As he was walking down the corridor, back to his offices, he called over his War Minister, who was standing behind him throught the speech, and told him to mobalize the 4th Army Corps for Deployment.

The situation in the Colony of New Hamptonshire has detiorated to such an extent that near total anarchy has broken out. The pro-Independence minority has seized most of the island and has surrounded not only the Governor-General but Our forces in Fort Sheridan.

However, I must stress that the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire has lost almost all control over New Hamptonshire. And now we join the most honorable Robert Frey, Speaker of the Colonial Government Legislature:

"Fellow patriots of New Hamptonshire, now is the time to fight for home and country. The treasonous leaders of the Unity Party have all been arrested, Governor-General Jacob Gustav is surrounded in his very home, and Ft. Sheridan is under siege by patriots of New Hamptonshire. Our goal of independence is almost upon us.

However, my fellow patriots, the Grand Duchy and it's Imperialist allies seek to alter the Referendum in order to subjegate us and rule over our land!

The Republic of Majesto, who supposedly wanted to act as a neutral force, is fighting and killing Our fellow Patriots. Yet, they are not intent on that alone. Now they are sending in thousands of troops to restore us to our previous underling position. They are merely doing the dirty work of Hamptonshire.

The Republic of Austar Union is also getting itself involved in our fight for independence. In an intercepted communique, Austar Union asked Hamptonshire for authorization to send in 20,000 thousand troops. They did not ask us if we wanted 20,000 foreign troops on our soil! They continue to ask our colonial masters. I say NO MORE!

Twenty minutes ago, the Colonial Government Legislature held a special session. By a vote of 116-39 the Colonial Government Legislature voted to Declare Our Independence from the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and establish the Confederacy of New Hamptonshire. I, after much hesitation, accepted the position of Chancellor of Our new government.

I issue this ultimatium to all of those who seek to attack us:
We will not back down, we will fight against all people, foreign or domestic, that seek to subvert the people of New Hamptonshire.

As my first act as Chancellor of the newly proclaimed Confederacy, I have issued arrest warrants for Sir Henry Harbruk and Governor-General Jacob Gustav. Both of those men seek to destory everything that freedom loving New Hamptonian hold dearest to their hearts: independence. They will be arrested and held in the Paradise Central Military Prison until such a time as the Confederate Government can hold a trial.

I also issue this proclaimation: To all foreign nations with soliders on New Hamptonshire soil-- You have 48 hours to evacuate before you are forceable evicted from our land.

By proclaimation of the Congress of the Confederacy, the Colonial Guard Reserve has been activated and all Hamptonshire military hardware outside Ft. Sheridan has been appropriated by the new Patriot Army.

Now I must address those New Hamptonians who have yet to embrace our cause: in time you will come to see the wisdom of joining us.

Thank you and God Bless the Confederacy!

Thank you and God Bless the Confederacy!

This is a CNC Special Update-

Later that evening, a small news ticker flew across the bottom of every TV screen in Majesto, and possibly every TV in the world. It said, "At 4:34, the Colonial Government in New Hamponshire has declared independence and is forming a new Confederacy." The Defense Command and the national government was bustling with activity. They had recieved an ultimatum from the new government, which is led by Robert Frey, that gives Command 48 hours to withdraw off of their soil.

The next morning, the Most Supreme Dictator held a news conference promply at 7:03, so he was sure that every house in the world would hear his words live on the morning shows. The conference was held in the Rotunda, a pompus oak desk stood at the foot of the hall. As the Dictator walked down the hallway twoards the desk, the room lit up with camera flashes. He sat down as he pulled his chair in.

"Good Morning," he needed to pause for camera flashes. "Yesterday evening, the island of New Hamptonshire declared their indepedence from the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire. We," he had to pause a second time for the camera flashes, "We were asked to act as a neutral security force for the Colony of New Hamptonshire and Governor-General Jacob Gustav. If any member of this new "government" should attempt to remove him from power, we will have no choice but to act on our promise to Governor-General Jacob Gustav and the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and restore Governor-General Jacob Gustav to power and restore order to the colony." He lent in twoard the camera, as if he was having a face to face conversation. "Mr. Frey, perhaps you didn't understand me last time, perhaps you don't care about what I have to say. Either way I don't care. My" (he drew a deep breath) "peacekeeping force will not leave the island of the (he placed a special emphasis again) Colony of New Hamptonshire. If any harm should come to the Governor-General or any Grand Duchy troops this nation will need to onto a war footing against the Colony of New Hamptonshire and enforce law and order on the island. If you attack any of my forces, I will declare war on your Rouge State and come after you for war crimes against my peacekeepers. If I need to bring allies, I will not give it a second thought.". He finally lent back in his chair and said in a calm, cool voice, "As I am addressing the world, my nation's 4th Army Corps, affectionatly known as "Capital Chaos" is preparing for war. I am issuing you an ultimatum Mr. Frey, you must step down from your "Chancellor" post and send yourself into exile, or else I will need to restore a sense of order to the island. The choice rests on your shoulders, you are the only one who will decide the fate of the island." The Most Supreme Dictator rose up from his chair and concluded his speech with, "I thank the world for there time at this early hour of the day. Mr. Frey, please choose wisely." At this he smiled for pictures, turned, and walked off down the hall.

Although the speech was very short, the Dictator believed that it was to the point. Either Robert Frey wanted peace, or he wanted war. The dictator, at this point in time, didn't care either way. He was only postponing the inevitable

A Message to The Republic of Kaufmanstad from the Most Supreme Dictator of Majesto.

And now, an emergency message from his excellency, President James Flaggenmead.

"Yesterday, the Colony of New Hamptonshire became the Confederacy of New Hamptonshire. This event was brought about by a vast movement of the people in that nation. At 5:00 I proclaimed Kaufmanstad's intention to recognize their independence from the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and ordered Foreign Secretary Fishtickler to send Nicholas Brummel as our Minister Plenipotentiary to New Hamptonshire. That same day, Congress authorized a loan of 4,000,000 Marks to the new republic, and this government recieved a startling message from the Most Supreme Dictator of Majesto.
He has threatened action against our nation for our goodwill toward the people of New Hamptonshire. In response, I have this to say, we are not intimidated. I stand by my proclamation, and I will carry out the order of Congress and send the 4,000,000 Marks and Minister Brummel to New Hamptonshire.
However, in the name of peace, this government is suggesting that the forces of New Hamtonshire back down and avoid conflict with any foreign troops, except, of course, if they act in an aggressive manner first.
Finally, I warn the Most Supreme Dictator of Majesto that if Minister Brummel does not arrive in Paradise City safely, he will be responsible for any ensuing bloodshed.
Good night, and God Bless the Republic."

That was his excellency, President James Flaggenmead.

That afternoon, the Most Supreme Dictator held another press conference, this one was directed twoards The Republic of Kaufmanstad. As the door to his mansion opened up, the Most Supreme Dictator walked out and moved down onto one of the lower steps, just so that he could be seen by the crowd that had gathered to listen to another one of his powerful speeches.

"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I come to you once again on this fine day to discuss, this time, the situation of President Flaggenmead and Kaufmanstad. You see, they are sending a diplomatic envoy and a large monetary donation to the "Confederacy" of New Hamptonshire. They have also recognised the sovergnity of the colony. This causes a discrepancy, how can this president recognise a government that was not elected by the people and that is sending the rightful leaders off to jail as if they had done something wrong? As far as this nation is concerned, the colony is under the control of a rouge dictator who has his opponents in jail and is not in charge of the colony. As far as this nation is concerned, the colony is still under the banner of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and is not a soverign nation.

Thus, this "diplomatic envoy" needs the explicit permission of the Grand Duchy to enter into one of her colonies. Again, as far as I'm concerned, this envoy is not welcomed into the colony if he does not have the permission of the Grand Duchy and if I am not contacted by a ruler of the Duchy, your envoy will subsequently be turned away. Although I do not wish any harm to come to this envoy, the Majestoian forces will turn back Minister Brummel at all costs. I am asking that the President reconcider the course of action that he is taking, as it may be a long and dangerous one for his nation. I wish to thank everyone here for coming out to listen to me for a second time today. Thank you." With a big cheerful wave, the dictator waved and smiled to his people, turned around and walked back into his mansion.

Minister Brummel waved to a crowd as he stepped onto the plane. He smiled as best he could, but could not help but worry. He had instructions from the President to continue to Paradise City no matter the cost.
The plane taxied out and took off, headed for the troubled country of New Hamptonshire. Brummel dabbed the sweat off his forehead with a tissue.

Special Message to Chancellor Frey:
It is the opinion of this department that you should not arrest the Governor-General, nor the leaders of the Unity Party. Instead, let them flee into exile. Avoid confrontation with foreign military, for the sake of peace, avoid confrontation. Let your enemies make the first move.

A short while after the Dictator finished his speech, he really wanted to sit and relax. After a few minutes of channel surfing, he came across Tom & Jerry. Only a few moments into the cartoon, the picture broke off to a news report. It was live from Kaufmanstad. In between the commentary, there was a live picture of a plane taking off. Seconds later, the War Minister was sprinting down the hall, "Mr. Dictator! We have a situation on our hands!" He told the Dictator that Minister Brummel was on that plane heading twoards New Hamptonshire. The war minister radioed the small air force contingent in New Hamptonshire, 7) F-17 Cobras and told three of them to take off and patrol the skies for any non-allied aircraft.

After he got off with the fighter pilots, he called air traffic control and told them to direct the following message to the plane in question, "Minister Brummel, your plane is soon to be in the direct violation of New Hamptonshire airspace. If you cross into the airspace, you will be escorted out by 3 fighter jets. If you resist the fighters, you will be shot down. I repeat, your plane will be shot down. Do not cross into New Hamptonshire airspace or you will face the consequences. This is a message by the Majestoian Minister of War."

"How dare you threaten an unarmed plane carrying a diplomat! You shoot me down, you will be condemned by the world. You will have the blood of innocents on your hands. I will continue on to New Hamptonshire airspace and my new embassy at Paradise City!"

Brummel ordered the plane to continue, to Paradise City, and destiny.

It was only three days later when the skies above New Hamptonshire filled with the sound of aircraft. In the countryside, farmers were watching the sky. Above them, paratroopers littered the sky. The Austarians had arrived....

Two Hours Later

It was dusk, and already, some 10 000 troops had been landed in New Hamptonshire. Units were not afraid of the people there, blatently walking down the countryside road. They had simple orders. Only fire if fired upon. If fired upon, fire back...

In the meantime, leaflets were being dropped throughout the New Hamptonshire cities, making sure the citizens in the colony knew the Austarians came in peace...

The jet was fast approaching New Hamptonshire airspace and the three fighter jets began to approach the jet from the two sides and the top. In effect, the jet would be boxed in by the jets in a few moments. The fighter pilots saw three people parachute out. The decsion was made to alert the ground forces to their arrival and hope that they'd be able to intercept them in time. They were after the plane, and it was the plane that they would get.

Seconds later, the jet crossed into the New Hamptonshire airspace and the three fighters gave some extra throttle. They were closing in on the plane quickly. Coat of Arms of Grand Duke Reginald Leopold I

(Grand Duke appears ready to address the world)

"Citizens of Hamptonshire, citizens of the world We are at a crossroads. Rogue elements in the Colony of New Hamptonshire have illegally declared independence. The Freedom Party, through the arrest, capture, and killings, of Unity Party leaders and members, has hijacked the democratic process in New Hamptonshire.

Robert Frey, Speaker of the Colonial Government Legislature, has declared himself Chancellor of this "Confederacy". In the eyes of the Grand Duchy, such a government not only does not exist, but those that have created it are criminals.

The so-called Patriot Army has confiscated military property that is rightfully the property of the Hamptonshire Royal Armed Forces. They have surrounded 12,000 troops in Ft. Sheridan, have arrested the Governor-General and the leader of the opposition Unity Party. Robert Frey and his thugs did this in the name of freedom and independence. I ask how such monsterous actions could be justified with those righteous terms.

Furthermore, it has been proven that the majority of New Hamptonshire citizens are not in favor of Independence. The loud and vocal minority have taken the rest of the population hostage. How can this be freedom and independence.

It is the position of This Government that New Hamptonshire is still a Colony of the Grand Duchy. To this extent we are insituting a Naval Quarentine of New Hamptonshire. No naval vessels except those from our Commonwealth and Concordia allies will be allowed within 125 miles of New Hamptonshire. I have also ordered the the 12th Army to ready itself in case such an action is warranted.

The 12,000 Royal Army and Royal Marines located in Ft. Sheridan have been ordered only to open fire if fire upon. They will not be used to attack the "Patriot Army". However, since there are two 2.5 megaton nuclear warheads located in Hanger 3-C, they have been ordered to defend the fort to the last man.

I personnaly implore Majesto and Austar Union to act with all restraint. While your services are beyond measure, remember that tens of millions of New Hamptonians do not support the "Confederate Government" or Robert Frey.

If the "Patriot Army" and the "Confederate Government" immediately disband themselves and surrender to Majestoian or Austar Union forces, I am willing to grant full pardons to all but Robert Frey and the leaders of this violent movement.

Thank you and may God bless Hamptonshire and New Hamptonshire."

Official Statement from the Confederate Government of New Hamptonshire

Majesto and Austar Union, we will not back down. You are an invading force and unless you both leave within 24 hours we will force you to leave.

The Patriot Army will defend the Sacred Soil of New Hamptonshire. We will fight you with every man we have, if the Patriot Army is reduced to throwing rocks at your invading tanks, so be it.

The facility known as "Ft. Sheridan" will be confiscated in 24 hours as it is sovereign property of the Confederacy of New Hamptonshire. Anyone still in our facility in 24 hours will be shot and killed. This government sees the so-called "Naval Quarentine" as a Imperialist trick used to subvert our nationial authority. If the Blockade is not removed in 24 hours, we will see it as an Act of War.

While this government may not yet have the support of the majority of New Hamptonian, in time all People of New Hamptonshire will come to see the Confederate Government as the only legitimate power in this great country.

The traitor Henry Harbruk and the criminal Jacob Gustav are in the custody of the Patriot Army Police and are being held in the Paradise City Military Prison. Once the Confederate Government has established itself, we will bring those two most heineous of characters to the trial the most certainly deserve.

Kaufmanstad and all nations that support us, We Thank You! While we will gladly except diplomatic and monetary aid, we will not, at this time, allow any troops onto New Hamptonshire soil. We are fighting to rid ourselves of foreign influence, if we were to allow you in now, the Confederate Government would be no better than the previous Colonial Government. However, if the Imperialist Hamptonshire and its allies declare open war on us, we may rethink offers of foreign assistance.

For the Glory of New Hamptonshire,

The three fighter pilots didn't wish to shoot down an innocent envoy's plane. However, they had no qualmls about shooting the plane in self-defense if they were threatened by the jet. They would not let this jet land until they were ready. Meanwhile, the lieutenant got back on the radio, "Minister Brummel, when we are ready, you will land the plane. When you land the plane, all members on board the plane will be arrested by the ground forces. They will not shoot unless shot at first. It would be ill advised to resist. The Dictator went to bed early, very early, around eight o' clock, and had ordered everyone to keep quiet. He'd die if he didn't get some sleep. When he woke up the next morning, the War Minister was waiting for him in the hallway. He said that he had some urgent information. Fifteen minutes later, after a quick shower and a change of clothes, the Dictator sat down to some Corn Pops and got his news brief. The dictator said that he wanted another press conference in the Rotunda in an hour. He also told the War Minister to ready the Marine Expeditionary Corps.

Again for the second time that week, the Most Supreme Dictator walked down the hall into the Rotunda and sat down at his large oak desk and prepared to address the world. He loved all of the new found publicity he was getting throughout the world, but the price he was paying was too much for some front page news.

"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the world. As many of you know, the situation in New Hamptonshire has escalated. The new leader of the island has imprisoned the Governor-General, a direct violation of the terms that I set out yesterday. As a result, I am bypassing the 4th Army Corps and am sending in the Marine Expeditionary Corps. Mr. Frey, my nation will not sit by and watch as you take this colony by force without regards for the people. The time for peace and negotiations has passed, the time for action is now. This nation does not yield to terrorists, we are not about to start now.

In one day, 200,000 highly trained Marines, 30 tank collums, and 75 attack helicopters are going to storm in Paradise City to recapture the island in the name of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and the Governor-General of the Colony of New Hamptonshire. To the people of the island, we have no hard feelings against you. The mission of the Marine Expeditionary Corps is simple, restore the Governor-General to power and restore a sense of lawlessness to the island. Do not fear my men, they will be your liberators and friends, not your enemys. If you are a combatant, lay down your weapon and go home, my men will have no business with you. This is the only warning you will get. Again, the time for peace is over, and the time for action is now. I thank you for your time, and may God bless the brave men who will uphold the democratic process in New Hamptonshire." This time, there was no wave, no smile, just a simple nod of the head at the cameras and he turned and walked out.

-In a bunker deep underneath the Chancellory (former residence of the Governor-General)-

Chancellor Robert Frey, his cabinet, and Commandant Greely C-in-C of the Patriot Army are gathered around a table showing a map of New Hamptonshire.

Commandant Greely addressed the Chancellor, "Well, the Patriot Army has managed to capture over a hundred tanks, hundreds of artillery pieces, APCs, fighter jets, and warehouses full of heavy arms.

The men have been working around the night to mine all entrances to Paradise City. We're also ready to strike Ft. Sheridan with overwhelming force when the deadline passes in 12 hours."

Chancellor Frey gazes at the huge map and points are several areas on it. "Gentlemen, this is where Majesto will be concentrating its forces. I want the Patriot Army to give them a welcome they will be hardpressed to forget."

"So they can use the Magistrates?" asked Greely.
"Of course they can but do we have W-3 or WT-2 shells?" asked Frey.
"Not enough to be effective."
"Well, how many do we have?"
"Two W-3s and a WT-2. I intend to use them as a last resort."
"Very good, Commandant. We have to be opportunistic."

Just then a Patriot Army Airforce lieutenant runs into the room.

"Commandant Greely, I have news on Kaufmanstad's minister." the lieutenant said and then presented the Commandant with a note.

Taking the note, the Commandant read it and then passed it on to the Chancellor. The Commandant, Chancellor, and the cabinet then huddled together and talked quietly. Then the Commandant broke from the group and walked back towards the lieutenant.

"Lieutenant," Commandant Greely spoke, "send the following message to the Minister's Airplane:

The Confederacy of New Hamptonshire welcomes Minister Brummel. We cannot at this time give you fighter escort.

We are giving you permission to land at the Paradise City International Airport. When you land there you will be taken by armored convoy to the Chancellory Bunker since Kaufmanstad does not have a physical embassy complex in our country.

Once you get the Minister on the ground we will guarntee his safety.

Now go!"

"Yes, sir" the lieutenant says as he salutes and clicks together his heels.

"Can we get back to my previous proposition?" the Director of War asked. "I want the Patriot Army to immediately begin planning a sustained guerrilla campaign."

The Chancellor spoke up: "Don't you have faith in the Patriot Army."

"Without a doubt Chancellor, however we are going to the fighting against very long odds. We have to plan for all contingencies."

"I agree. I'll begin planning if so ordered." Commandant Greely interjected.

"Alright. As soon as we're done with this meeting you can begin planning."

"Major, we're almost there. I've just received the signal, the Minister and his party have landed." the driver of the Stryker told Major Murphy.

A convoy of 3 Humvees, 5 ZLT tanks, 2 M1A1s, 1 M2A2, and 4 Styker Infantry Carriers rolls up along side Minister Brummel and his party. The convoy stops and 20 heavily armed Patriot Army troops come rushing out to guard the guests of New Hamptonshire. Major Murphy comes out of one of the Stykers.

"Minister Brummel, we have been ordered to get you safely to the Chancellory Bunker. Your staff has to board the Strykers now. Minister Brummel, you come with me." the Major yelled over the sounds of the loud engines.

"Alright. Everybody onboard." Minister Brummel yelled to his staff.

The Kaufmanstad embassy team is rushed into 3 different Strykers. Major Murphy and Minister Brummel run to the center Stryker and step inside.

"Lets go."
"Yes, Major. All units go."
With that the armored convoy turns around and leaves the airport at top speed for the Chancellory Bunker, 25 miles away. Luckily the Patriot Army has cleared all traffic from all street leading from the Airport to the Chancellor.

"Minister Brommel, we'll get you to the Bunker in 27 minutes." Major Murphy told the Minister as he passed a headset over to him.

"Isn't this Stryker a little "thin skinned"? What if we are attacked?" the minister broadcast over the headset.

"Don't worry the ZLTs and the Bradley have all be modified for ground and air-defense. As for this Stryker, the crew compartment is reinforced with two inches of armor plating and kevlar. It's all thanks to the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire." Major Murphy says with a laugh.

"Very good. I hope that I get to see Chancellor Frey soon, we have important business to..."

As Minister Brummel and Major Murphy talk the convoy reaches top speed, racing to the safety of the Chancellory.

EDITED CONTINUATION:

The Minister's plane landed safely on the ground dispite fierce resistance from the fighter pilots. When the pilots looked around, they could not see the friendly soldiers. Then they recieved the radio message from the forces. The fighters would need to do the best they could.

The shifted their efforts to the approaching New Hamptonshire convoy. They saw some light tanks and a few APCs. Then they saw some Humvees. They three jets decided on taking out the 3 APCs. Systematically, they spewed bullets out from their chain gun as fast as they could fire. The lieutenant's plane rattled off one of his rockets. Since they couldn't arrest the Minister, they would try and take out his rides.

The other two jets fired more chain gun shots off at the tanks and launched off some more rockets at the APCs. They prayed that they would be able to inflict some casualties on the convoy.

OCC: I actually think you should fix your post. The Patriot Army has secured Paradise City for now so the lines to the airport is secure until you have launched your attack. Remember 12 hours remain until the deadline passes.

As for the map of New Hamptonshire:

As you notice it is a Map of Sweden. Paradise City is the same exactly as Stockholm, so if you find map of Stockholm you've got a map of Paradise City, the Chancellory is where the RL Riksdag is located.

I haven't found a good map yet of Stockholm yet, so until I do you'll have to find your own. I'm also still working on the Map so it will be changed and updated.

"Minister we've got another 15 minutes until we get you to your new temporary home." Major Murphy tell the Minister.

"This is Echo Pappa 6 to Echo Leader. We have unfriendly air units inbound." the commander of ZLTs reports over the headset.

"Echo Leader to Echo Pappa 6, you are authorized to fire if on all hostile fighters."

The minister interjects: "Should I be worried, Major?"

"Yes and no. We've already lost 2 Humvees, a Stryker, and a ZLT. They may destroy a few more units but the center of Paradise City come complete with Patriot Air Defense Batteries. Not enought to hold back an armada but more than enough to deal with a few fighters."

The convoy continues to speed as fast as possible toward the center of Paradise City.

The fighter jets realize that they are running low on ammo and missiles, and that they're heading into the city center, which could be too risky - so the three team up and give everything that they've got at the remaining Strykers before the fly back to base and away from combat.

Each jet fires off more than a thouand chain gun rounds, three TOW missiles, and then flies back to the remote airstrip so they can gear up for the upcoming invasion. However, on the way out of the combat zone, the right wing man was clipped by a ZLT's fire and was forced to parachute out of the jet, where he landed safely in the woods. The jet however, fell into the woods and burst into flames.

"This is Echo Leader to all units :The convoy is hit under attack, repeat the convoy is..."

The signal is interrupted. The three jets hovering over them fired three TOW missiles and thousands of rounds into the convoy. One Styker was hit and torn apart by the blasts that consumed it. A third missile missed another Styker but hit and destroyed a ZLT traveling directly behind it.

The Stryker carrying the Minister and Major Murphy was hit with dozens of rounds of ammunition. While the armor was punctured and several people were killied in the Styker, the reinforced hull provided an increased measure of protection. But, just as that the were being hit by the chain guns a TOW missile just missed the Stryker and exploded to the left. The Styker flipped over from the force of the blast.

The ZLTs fired what anti-air missiles they had at the retreating fighters. The Bradley, commanded by Lieutenant Kertssen, pulled up behind the flipped Stryker.

Kertssen and a team of medics jumped out of the Bradley.

"Open it up and get the Minister out of there!"

The medics, with some heavy struggling, managed to get the hatch open. They climbed in. They found the dead and dying bodies of a half dozen men. The serach frantically for Minister Brummel. They find him slightly hurt but unconscious under the dead body of Major Murphy. They pull him out.

"This is Lieutenant Kertssen, I want an Abrahms at my position ASAP.

I want one medic to take Minister Brummel, place him in an Abrahams, and take him to the Chancellory Bunker. There's a hospital down there."

"Yes, sir." answered a medic.

The massive tank came to a stop and opened its hatch. After being informed of the situation two of the tank's crew members got out to make room for the minister and the medic.

As the tank, the remaining Stryker, and their escorts sped off, the medics tried to find other surviors of the attack.

There were none.

"It's all alright now. You're safe. You are over a thousand feet underground in the Chancellor Bunker." Frey responds coolly.

"Where are my people. I want to know. How is in charge here!" the minister repeats.

"I am in charge. Chancellor Robert Frey of the Confederate Government at your service. As for your people I have some good and bad news. Of the 10 people that were with you, 6 were killed. The other 4 are being treated for light wounds. You will be able to see them shortly. I ask that you now rest. You can come to the Command Center as soon as the doctors clear you."

With that Chancellor Frey removes his hand, turns around, and leaves the room leaving the minister with a team of military doctors.

When the word of the deaths reached Majesto, the attitude twoards the war shifted. The people began to wonder, why are we fighting someone elses war? This isn't peacekeeping. If the Grand Duchy wanted their colony, they would have gotten it back. The people began to grow resentful of the people of Hamptonshire. In a few hours, "our boys" are going to storm ashore. The people wondered, why?

The Most Supreme Dictator knew how the people were feeling, and he was begining to resent the current situation himself. However, after a full two hour meeting with his Advisory Council and another half hour in deep medetation, he called an emergency press conference to address the people of the nation.

A half an hour later, the Dictator walked out the front door and stood on the steps of his mansion. However, the people could see that he was not himself, he came out wearing a pair of Dockers and a blue shirt with no tie. He began his speech by saying, "Good afternoon fellow countrymen. I have no doubt in my mind that you people are asking why. Why are brave men and women setting off to storm Paradise City? Why are people dieing? Why?...Why are we fighting a war for the people of New Hamptonshire?

The people of this great nation are prosperous. The people of this great nation are free to live any life that they may choose. You, and me, should be lucky that we are so well off. The people of New Hamptonshire wanted a vote indepedence. No one in this nation had any problems with our boys going over there and keeping peace. I was honored to help the people of a nation less fortunate than this one, so that one more island in the world can be able to live the life they choose. However, situations have changed. Robert Frey has taken the control of the island, the people are held hostage by this man. Anyone who speaks out faces imprisonment and possible execution. He has ordered his army to encircle Fort Sheridan and attack the troops of Hamptonshire, who have done nothing to anyone on that island. This, my friends is not the will of the people in New Hamptonshire. This nation took on the duties of peacekeepers. There is no peace on that island, and it is our duty, as peacekeepers, to ensure that peace is restored.

A few hours ago, fighter jets engaged a private jet from the Republic of Kaufmanstad. Six Kaufmanstadians died, and one Defense Command pilot is missing. The president of this nation sent a donation of four million marks and a diplomatic liason to the island. Are we to prepare to invade a country while someone else gives them donations of money? I think not. Although death is a terrible thing, I stand behind the actions of my troops. They have preformed this country well. Kaufmanstand as a nation, and the Minister himself was given plenty of chances to turn the plane around and let things go. Am I to sit idly by as another nation helps a rouge, tyrannical dictator? I think not. Alhough I am sorry for the loss of citizens of your nation, you were given plenty of warnings to back down.

In a few hours, the Marine Expeditionary Corps is going to storm ashore in New Hamptonshire. I am going to go ahead with my plans to free the people of New Hamptonshire and restore Governor-General Gustav to power. I will not settle for less. No person should need to be jailed for voiceing their freedom of speech. Friends, war is a terrible thing. I make no secret of that. Death is a terrible thing. I make no secret of that. However, when this nation agrees to something, in this case, keeping peace in New Hamptonshire, we will not stop until our goal is achieved. If we need to use force to back up our promises, so be it. I ask all of the people of this great nation to stand behing the Marine Expeditionary Corps in their attempts at liberation. Thank you and may God bless you all." The people were moved by the honesty of the speech. They would stand behing him in any way possible.

When news reached Grand Duke Reginald Leopold I that some Majestoians are questioning why Hamptonshire is not actively getting in the fight, he knew he had to speak.

He called a press conference to address the world. He would deliver the speech in front of the Royal Senate in the Royal Congression Complex.

Two hours later....

"Ladies and gentlemen of the Senate, distinguished guests, my fellow Hamptonians thank you for steadfast devotion to peace, democracy, and independence. I come to you all now to address the concerns about the crisis in New Hamptonshire.

Some have questioned our devotion to the cause of reestablishing our control over New Hamptonshire. Perhaps they think that we lack resolve. I say to those people to look where I am standing right now. Not long ago this building was completely destroyed in a terrorist attack. Virtually the entire Hamptonian government was killed in that attack.

Did we waver, did we relent, did we cower?

No. We rebuilt and we punished the nation of Soigacas, the country that attack us. The Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire will never cease in its devotion to democracy and freedom.

People have asked why the Grand Duchy has not sent ground forces into New Hamptonshire to quell the revolt or why we have not ordered the 12,000 troops in Fort Sheridan to attack the Patriot Army. I have an answer: history.

History shows us that if we were to forceable end the rebellion only more ill feeling and pro-independence thought would occur. That's why we are currently leaving the fighting to Majesto and Austar Union while we blockade the island.

However, make no mistake; if the violence escalates in New Hamptonshire We will send in our armed forces. We will send them in to remove the oppressive "government" of Robert Frey. Never forget that not all New Hamptonians desire independence, only a violent and vocal minority.

Yet again I issue this offer- if the "Patriot Army" and "Confederate Government" disband themselves and surrender to the peacekeeping forces in New Hamptonshire I will issue everyone but the highest levels of their leadership full pardons.

Thank you and may God bless us all."

"Three, two, one...FIRE!" Colonel Nibesli screams.

Dozens of anti-infantry and high explosive rockets are launched toward the Hamptonian troops in Ft. Sheridan. What MLRS units the Patriot Army capatured all opened fire on the defenders.

"Artillery fire. Tanks fire and advance. Infantry-- charge!"

The small artillery batteries all fire in unison raining down shells on the defending forces, the tanks fire while advancing toward the walled fort. In the distance a dozen A-10 Warthogs are seen, readying to add their heft to the fight on the side of the Patriot Army.

30,000 infantrymen from the Patriot Army rise from their positions and advance toward the surrounded Fort. The garrisoned troops in side return fire with what they have, but it is not enought.

"All units onward, we must take the fort by midday! Leave nothing left alive. We must capture the Fort before their allies can assist them. FOR THE GLORY OF THE CONFEDERACY!!!"

"We're under attack!!!" a private screams.

"All units, all units return fire. Armored units forward. Artillery fire. Concentrate all weapons on the advancing units!" Major Turnsdale orders.

"Lieutenant, deploy perimeter defense system."

With that, 5 modified Phalanx CIWS units rise from the Perimeter Defense Wall and lock their sights on the advancing troops. The two Phalanx units in range of the advancing Patriot Army forces begin firing hundreds of rounds into the still advancing formations.

Three dozen large explosions rock the base. 36 300mm rockets explode over the base throwing thousands of anti-personnel cluster bombs into the Fort instantly killing over 400 defenders. Then the artillery shells start falling. The Perimeter Defense Wall is hit by dozens of shells at a time and begins to simply shatter. Advancing Patriot Army tanks manage to destroy one of the firing Phalanx units.

"Where's the Colonel?" Major Turnsdale broadcasts over the static filled headset.

"She's dead, along with the entire command staff. Looks like you are in charge." a random voice responds.

As Major Turnsdale looks forward she sees tens of thousand of troops approaching from all sides. As hundreds of explosions and countless bullets rock and riddle the Fort Major Turnsdale decides to give the only order possible.

"To all units, this is Major Turnsdale. We cannot hold the fort. All armored units are ordered to charge the advancing enemy formations. All artillery units fire at will. All infantry pull back to Hanger 3-C. We must not allow it to fall. It must be held at all costs."

As he finishes broadcasting his message 4 A-10 Warthogs strafe the defenders position and hit the base.

At 02:00 hours this morning Patriot Army rebels overwhelmed the 12,000 defenders of Fort Sheridan. Reports indicate that the Patriot Army took no prisonners. Repeat, High Command now believes that all 12,000 defenders have been killed.

Shockingly, High Command revealed that the Patriot Army may have captured two 2.5 megaton nuclear weapons that were being tested at Fort Sheridan.

"We are fairly certain that they [Patriot Army] managed to secure two 2.5 megaton nuclear warheads that were being tested in Hanger 3-C in Fort Sheridan. We cannot confirm that they have been stolen, but all indications point to that being so."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "So, we've got Fort Sheridan. What were our losses".

Commandant Greely: "4,950 killed, 13,200 wounded, and 800 missing. We killed all but 8 of the defenders."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "I thought the plan was to kill every last one of them. WHAT HAPPENED!"

Commandant Greely: "Chancellor the 8 people we left alive were engineers working with the two nuclear devices, which we captured."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "Yes, our prize. Our goal. I trust the Package A is on its way and Package B is stored away."

Commandant Greely: "Package A is being position for its final delivery as we speak. The other Package is safely hidden."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "What of Majesto's and Austar Union's troops?"

Commandant Greely: "We have begun the attacks. I've sent 20,000 troops to hit the Majestoian outside of Paradise, and another 20,000 to harass the troops Austar Union has in the countryside."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "What about for defensive operations?"

Commandant Greely: "100,000 to defend Paradise City and 75,000 to defend the possible landing areas. I've also sent the proper equipment along with them."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "What are we doing about the missiles and Royal Navy fighters bombing us, eh?"

Commandant Greely: "What fighter we have a scrambling to fight back. I also ordered what air defense systems we have to full activity. I must note that currently the Royal Navy is concentrating only on Patrtio Army targets."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "For now they are. They will switch target later, and you know as well as I do we can't hold them back. Now, what about all the escaping New Hamptonian traitors?"

Commandant Greely: "They are taking all the ships they can. We have been able to sink a few ships, but they only total 8,000 refugees total killed."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "That is not enough. We have to kill every person that tries to escape. If people leave then we will have lost this war."

Commandant Greely: "I'll order the men to double their efforts, but I must mention that hundreds of thousands are trying to escape. Already 20,000 refugees have set sail."

Chancellor Robery Frey: "Make sure it's not 20,001."

The men then return to the task of running the war.

Should the Government of Hamptonshire, our ally in Concordia, consent,we will transport peacekeeping troops to the country and, should the Government of New Hamptonshire consent to a ceasefire,we will move them into place in the afflicted colony. The peacekeepers would also be on hand to protect the peace during the independence referendum and, should New Hamptonshire secede, would be glad to remain to stabilise the new state.

The Community requests that ALL parties involved in this war bring into force a ceasefire. We offer the capital of the Community,Port Mafikeng,as a venue for peace talks.

We wish to add that we do not recognise the current Government of New Hamptonshire as being legitimate, but we do recognise the aim of independence that you fight for. Please consider our offer of negotiation. No one, surely, wishes this ordeal to continue.

"Chancellor, I have a few things I'd like to say." began Minister Brummel.
"My government will cease sending you monetary aid if you continue these brutal tactics. Killing every single defender in Fort Sheridan is not the way to endear the world to your cause. By not taking prisoners, you force your opposition to vilify you as evil, and are more steadfast in their aggression toward you. My government recognized New Hamptonshire on the assumption that New Hamptonians were truly oppressed and didn't have a chance against a fair referrendum. This issue has been eclipsed by your disregard for human rights. By this I mean your massacre of Hamptonian troops in Fort Sheridan and the destruction of refugee boats.
I will sum up with this point: if your policy of disregarding of human rights continues, Kaufmanstad will cease payment of the 4,000,000 marks will cease and my government will retract its recognition of the Confederacy and issue a formal apology to the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire for interfering in its affairs. As I speak, the Kaufmanstader frigate St. Swithens waits in international waters to escort what remains of my team out of New Hamptonshire should the situation here deteriorate further. Presidential Proclamation
Stuville, Kaufmanstad

This government formally revokes its recognition of the Confederacy of New Hamptonshire. Chancellor Robert Frey has shown himself to be an enemy to Human Rights and to True and Fair Democracy. All relations with the entity calling itself the "Confederacy of New Hamptonshire" is hereby dissolved.

This government formally offers its sincerest apology to the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire for Kaufmanstad's interference in its Colony of New Hamptonshire. The Kaufmanstad navy is more than willing to offer its services as Coast guard around the Colony of New Hamptonshire. The Kaufmanstad Congress offers the use of its capital, Stuville, as a place to organize a coallition whose goal it will be is to see that democracy and order is brought back to New Hamptonshire, and that our diplomats are brought out of Paradise City alive.

Finally, this government asks for an apology from the Dictatorship of Majesto for the death of six diplomatic workers in our short lived embassy in New Hamptonshire. Your wisdom in calling New Hamptonshire a rouge nation was correct, but your attack on the imunity of diplomats is inexcusable.

Release from the Office of the Prime Minister

The Government of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire does hereby accept the apology of Kaufmanstad in the matter of the Colony of New Hamptonshire. However, we will not at this time include Kaufmanstad in our reconquest plans. Kaufmanstad currently is considered not to be a trustworthy nation. Due to the rising tensions between the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and the ' Colony' New Hamptonshire whom we do not recgonize as a soveriegn nation due to the brutal takeover of an democratically elected government and a systematic assault on foreign troops, we have elected to reevaluate our position on our armed forces in the international deployments and at this time will pull out our initial 500 Peacekeepers currently deployed defending our consulate back into international waters where we have the RNS Kyushu (Joint Support/Command Ship) deployed 150 Miles southeast from your waters. Mind you this is a refusal to supporting our ally Hamptonshire in a time of civil war but a reevaluation of our deployed armed forces (Soraigus, Neo Pacifica etc.) to assess the amount of support we could give out.

We will do so. To speak of the capabilities of the planes in this message would be risky due to the risk of the code being broken. Let us state, then, that the harriers that we are lending you are akin to to FA2 with much of it's plating replaced with what one would see on a spy plane as well as the missle load reduced so that it only carries two specific missles/bombs that aid in it's covert missions. That is about the limit that one can say over this code- more will be revealed when the squadrons land on the HNS Unity/Duke of Hampton.

Election day in Kaufmanstad is May 1st, and President Flaggenmead's prospects do not look good. The President faces opposition not only from Jacob von Halver's Socialist Party, but from within his own Liberty Party.
Von Halver has called Flaggenmead's intervention in "an attempt to cover up and misdirect the public from his own corrupt dealings with the corporate sector of Southland City." Mr. von Halver, is of course speaking of the Oxidus Suit, where the President is accused of taking bribes to secure rainforest for Uranium mining.
President Flaggenmead's second source of opposition comes from Representative Boudinot in Congress. "President Flaggenmead has disgraced the name of Kaufmanstad and of the Liberty Party for the last time. I am running for President, and I intend to bring a Fair deal to the Kaufmanstad people! This nation will stand up as the beacon of true and fair democracy that it is, and we will no longer deal with madmen that claim to support liberty."
Polls show President Flaggenmead trailing far behind the Von Halver and Boudinot. The President is not expected to win the race on May 1.

I have given the orders to begin pre-Invasion bombardments of the coastal landing zones as well as strikes against where we think the Patriot Army has hidden the two nuclear devices.

The ships of the 2nd Fleet have been ordered to fire over 10,000 missiles to soften up enemy defenses while 400 Royal Navy fighter/bombers simultaneously strike.

I suggest that all Allied Forces begin their assaults as soon as possible. Perhaps, if we are lucky, Chancellor Frey will not have the time or the ability to detonate the nuclear devices.

As for the 100 Majestoian and Austar Union hostages, the Royal Special Operations 39th Battalion will be responsible for trying to save those brave men and women and will also be responsible for the evacuation of Terra Pacifican and Kaufmanstad nationals in Paradise City.

Around the St. Swithens there had been a lot of activity. Gallagher would have loved to direct his crew to help, after Flaggenmead's humiliation and Frey's cold-bloodedness. But, he was not. The roar of the sea was especially loud, the Patriot Army harbor boat captain thought.

As he paced along his small boat late at night the roar became louder and louder. He looked around but couldn't see anything, then...*BAM*. The boat is blow apart by an air-to-surface missile.

A huge armada of amphibious warships from the Royal Navy swarm in to the bay. Thousands of cruise missiles fly over the heads of the Royal Marines huddled in the hundreds of LCACs.

The Royal Marines are comforted in the knowledge that they will not be alone. Over 500 fighter/bombers from the Royal Navy are covering their approach and 500,000 men are waiting to land right behind the Royal Marines.

Aboard the HNS Vulpine Vice Admiral Geoff Kirksen stands on the flight deck watching the jets take off to strike the Patriot Army. There is but one thing on his mind-- "What will those damned people do with the nukes they have."

Deep underground in the Chancellory Bunker Chancellor Robert Frey, Commandant Greely, and the Cabinet are gather running the current war effort.

"What's the status of the beach head openned up by Hamptonshire?" the Chancellor asked Greely.

"Sir," Greely replied,"we've taken 18,000 casualties as well as the loss of all of our heavy equipment. The Royal Marines have advanced 10 km inland. The bombardment of the past days has killed and wounded another 53,000 Patriot Army Volunteers. In addition we've lost 60% of heavy and armored assets."

"Greely, I want all the hostages killed. Now." Frey yells.

"Yes, sir. They'll be killed within the..." Greely is cut off.
"You don't understand me. I want them killed right now. I want all 100 killed NOW. Line them up in front of a camera, turn the camera on, and kill them all. I want to see it done!" Frey empassionately yells.

"Yes, sir." Greely replies. Greely then turns to an aide to have what needs to be done done.

"Now, Chancellor for our defenses...We've got 200,000 Patriot Army Volunteers in the Paradise City area. We've also heavily mined and booby-trapped all paths leading to the Capital. If Austar or Hamptonshire advances within 30 km of Paradise, they'll be hit with nuclear artillery shells."

"Excellent," the Chancellor exclaims,"I assume that we have the Guerrilla Plan in action. The 300,000 Patriot Army volunteers and equipment in the forests and mountains."

"Yes, sir." Greely replies. A lieutenant walks up to Greely and whispers in his ear.

"Chancellor, we've got the video feed on montior #7."

Chancellor Frey, Commandant Greely, and everyone in the room looks at Monitor #7. 100 Majestoian and Austar Union prisoners are lined up in 5 rows of 20 men each. 10 Patriot Army officers dressed only in black walk into the room and and pull out their heavy machine guns. The officers open fire and spray the room with hundreds of .50 cal bullets. After almost a minute of firing then men stop. The floor is covered in bullet riddled bodies, blood, and brain matter ankle deep.

After the scene everyone is quite for a moment. Then Frey begins to talk again.

"Greely. Package A. I want it blown up now."

"Yes, sir. It is confirmed that Package A is in the area of Portshire hidden aboard a refugee ship. I'll set the countdown for 2 minutes...then 2.5 megatons of explosive delight." Greely responds.

"They were warned. They are the ones that are forcing us to do this." Frey quietly says to himself.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
-2 minutes later-

A cargo ship carrying 1,100 New Hamptonian refugees sits 30 miles offshore of Portshire in a group of islands forming a protected bay around the city.

The ship is carrying something that has been overlooked and passed over since it left New Hamptonshire. A 2.5 megaton bomb.

On a beautiful and clear day when families are enjoying all that the city has to offer, a 2.5 megaton nuclear warhead detonates. There is a flash followed by hell itself.

"Citizens of Hamptonshire, citizens of the world-- we have been attacked. This morning at 10:32 am Hamptonshire Standard Time, a 2.5 megaton cobalt nuclear warhead detonated 18.5 miles offshore of Portshire. The device used has been confirmed as one of the two nuclear devices that were stolen by the Patriot Army of New Hamptonshire.

We do not yet have solid casualty numbers, but the Ministry of Health and Domestic Security has developed the following estimates. I would like to say again, these are estimates.

It is estimated that:
-Upwards of 300,000 people died instantly in the blast.
-An additional 600,000 will die from radiation exposure within the next weeks and months.
-2 million to 3.5 million people will die over the next decade as a result of radiation.
-Up to 5 million people will suffer from long term health problems.

I must inform you, my fellow Hamptonians, that the Patriot Army still has in its possession one more of these devices. That is why I am ordering the implementation of Project Dunkirk. While it is not a full capacity, it can currently provide housing and protection for 30 million people for total of up to a decade if need be. The Government of the Grand Duchy has currently relocated itself to the Emergency Command Bunker 2.25 miles beneath Hamptonshire City. Those people that live in areas classified as Priority Alpha Sites, will be moved into the Bunker network.

I have ordered the Royal Armed Forces of Hamptonshire to destroy the Patriot Army and to capture the leaders of that criminal movement. I have authorized the deployment of Army Groups 3 and 6 to New Hamptonshire. It is the sole focus of this Government to find and punish those that have killed so many innocent people.

I ask that all people every where pray for those who died today in Portshire.

Thank-you.

Citizens, Denziens, and Dwellers of Kay Son-

An hour ago a nuclear explosion shook the area of Portshire in Hamptonshire. It has been estimated that the casulty list goes into the tens of thousands. The criminal behind such dastardly behavior is none other than the wayward colony of New Hamptonshire, a former provence now taken over by a man by the name of Chancellor Robert Fey.

This is not the first aggresive action that Chancellor Robert Fey has done to his kin. He has approved the slaughter of prisoners of war with any reservation of kindness nor fairness for these poor individuals. He has also approved the wholesale murder of thousand refugees from the colony, down to the last woman and child.

This cannot go on unhindered. Therefore, I charge the Parliment to approve unlateral support and aid to our fellow nation state. It is only right that we help them for this disaster cannot be repeated, especially on other people who have no hand in such a conflict. This must be stopped. These rebels must be shown what reprocussions that their actions have.

IC:

The dictator decided to stay away from the camera for a few days and let things unfold and see if diplomacy would work from the international community. It did not.

After the nuclear detonation in Portshire, Majesto knew that they would need to act before any more nuclear bombs exploded. The situation was going out of control, someone needed to act now.

The citizens of Majesto knew that the possibility that a bomb would head their way was not out of the question. The dictator immediatly took precautions to ensure the safety of the government. He moved himself, his advisors, and military commanders into a bunker underneath CENSORED (You didn't think I'd tell you, right?) He quickly re-mobalized the 4th Army Corps for an attack so they could relieve the Marines, which were moments away from a landing. He mobalized the 1st Army Corps for capital area security. This could not go on any longer, there was no more time for postponment, this needed to happen now. Robert Frey would not hold the world hostage any longer.

The Majestoians knew that a direct assault on Paradise or on Fort Sheridan would be bloody murder. However, they knew that they needed to retake hanger 3-C and regain control of the nuclear device before it could be aimed at invading forces. To stage a distraction, two naval strike fleets began to fire missiles at the chancellory and the Paradise shores. Meanwhile, four more strike fleets that looked as if they were going to assist down in Paridise, doubled back and began to clear the shoreline for the Marines, which began to plow full speed twoards Fort Sheridan. They hoped that they would take the defenders off guard so they could quickly retake the hanger.

Logan: ...And Daisy you have a report of Bill 108?

Daisy: Yes Logan [camera focuses on a young attractive Chinese girl wearing a 'power' suit] Bill 108 has been passed within the House of Commons by a slight majority with several amendments added to it so that the Hamptonshireans can deal with the atomic affects.

Logan: But what the exact numbers of ships and planes that are being assigned to it? Has Hamptonshire accepted such proposal?

Daisy: Well Logan, that is currently being discussed by the Ministry of Defense as well as the entire Cabinet itself. There is some rumor that a 'battlegroup' will be formed in order to account for the numbers but there is also the fact of what specific plane that they are sending over there. A source within the Ministry of the Interior has stated to me that they will be sending some of our top helicopters in order to account for air assult. Another rumor has it that the acutal planes will be sent- one of the gifts that we got from the Kanabians.

Logan: Interesting- but no confirmed fact?

Daisy: There has been no statement so far from any ministries.

Logan: interesting. What about the medical contingent?

Daisy: Well...

This encoded transmission is to announce:

A) I have replaced Vice Admiral Kirksen as commanding officer of the Hamptonian forces in the area.

B) The 6th Army Group and 3rd Army Group are deploying to invade New Hamptonshire. The 3rd and 6th Army Groups have slightly more than 1.8 million Royal Army personnel and Royal Marines combined.

C) The Royal Marines have established a beach head that extends 50 miles inland. The city of Uppsala has been captured. The advancing forces are 50 miles from Paradise City.

D) We expect that the Patriot Army has hidden the remaining nuclear device somewhere in the New Hamptonshire.

E) MOST IMPORTANTLY--- I have received a confirmed message. The people of the cities of Jarstoor and Melbis have successfully repelled the Patriot Army. Those two cities, and the peninsula they are located on, are the most loyal to the Freedom Party and to the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire. The Governor of Jarstoor-Melbis State has asked that Allied troops be deployed there. I intend to deploy several Corps in that area.

That is all for now.

The Democratic Republic Of Terra Pacifica mourns in great sorrow for the thousands (maybe millions) of lives lost in Portshire in this senseless act of aggression, evil and destruction. We now see the threat that New Hamptonshire poses against the stablity of this region and the general safety of all humanity, that is why I have decided with immediate action to give unconditonal support to the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire and wholeheartly support your campaign to overthrow this tyrant who now brings our region into the brink of Nuclear War.

We have taken this time to bring our military armed forces at full alert bringing all ballastic missile sites on immediate standby for retalitorial strike if warranted against the DR of Terra Pacifica. Right now I have ordered that the 1st Peacekeeping Force (500 Light Infantry) currently aboard one of your carriers into full combat action. This government will also begin mobilizing a large land force of two marine divisions and and 4 army regiments massing to a total of 50,000 troops. We will also divert the 4th Carrier Battle Group into the region adding another 10,000 Naval and Air Personnel into the fight, with another 300,000 regular force personnel on immediately standby pending your requests for reinforcements.

This government will do anything in it's power to destroy any threat against the DR of Terra Pacifica and it's allies. We will not allow the New Hamptonshirans to degrade us back into the third world with the threat of Nuclear War.

Do not use any nuclear weapons against New Hamptonshire. The Patriot Army lacks the missiles needed to launch the remaining warhead. The only way the warhead could have left New Hamptonshire would be aboard one of the refugee ships and all of those vessels are currently in, enroute, or anchored off of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire.

We also believe that the Patriot Army may be in possess of two nuclear and one thermonuclear artillery shell. We are trying to neutralize all Magistrate cannons, but be warned that we cannot guarntee safety.

It is with great sorrow that I must inform you that your diplomatic staff and peacekeepers that were in Paradise City are either dead or missing. What few men we could land in the city confirmed the decoded messages sent by the Patriot Army. Again, you have our condolences.

We suggest that you land your troops in the Jarstoor-Melbis area and that you move north from there.

Thank you.

...Whereas the government of Chancellor Fey has demonstrated the lack of humanitarian efforts to the dwellers of New Hamptonshire, committed henious murder of refugees seeking a new life elsewhere, and has committed treason against his very kindred, the Parliment of the People's Republic of Kay Son does decree that unilateral military aid and medical assistance will be sent to the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire in this time of need. (At a Forward Command Center 40 miles north of Paradise City)

Major General Karlssen: We are trying to hold back the advancing Royal Marine, but it's a fight we can't win. There are over 50,000 advancing Royal Marines backed up by hundreds of jets and helicopters.

Commandant Greely (over a secure phone line): You have to at least slow them down. We are being hit from both sides. Jarstoor-Melbis State has defected and we project that hundreds of thousands of enemy troops will be landing there within weeks. If the Patriot Army could hold off both the northern and southern advances long enough, we can escape to the moutains and forests in the center of the country.

Major General Karlssen: Aye, sir. I'll give the order to slow them down as much as possible. I must state, however, that my forces have suffered 70% casualties. I'm down to only 80,000 volunteers.

Commandant Greely (over a secure phone line): It's okay. If the Royal Marines get to the 30 mile mark I've ordered the firing of one nuclear artillery shells. That will slow them down.

Major General Karlssen: It certainly will. May I ask about the advancing Austar Union forces?

Commandant Greely (over a secure phone line): They've managed to neutralize the city of Vasteras. There aren't any large scale Patriot Army units that can stop them until the reach the Paradise City Defensive Perimeter. I've also given the order that if they reach the 30 mile mark that nuclear artillery is to be trainned upon their positions.

Major General Karlssen: I'll tell my men they fight for the very survival of their families.

Commandant Greely (over a secure phone line): Do what you need to do. It looks like we are going to lose most if not all of the southern cities. Our survival will depend upon the moutains of the north. You must delay them. Greely out.

It is my honour to be charged with such duty in aiding your country. With that aside, my subordinates have put forth several suggestions on what we can accomplish in defeating these rebels. The representatives from the RAF section have suggested that we move in to aid the defected cities and therein move from there. The representatives from the PLA disagree in the idea of attacking from where our 'leased' aircraft are positioned. As for the Navy, we would welcome any idea of landing in someplace less fortified and easy to control. What is your suggestion of action?

Ah yes- and we are approximately 4 days travel from your country, provided that the storm in the Trinity Sea still holds.

If you station your naval, air, and land forces in that area you will be able to help us advance toward the cities of Jonkoping and Boras.

I will be awaiting your response and eventual arrival.

Until that time your troops can land and station themselves at the Temporary Foward Command Base in Jarstoor. Perhaps it could be relocated to a more secure location.

I would not even think of asking you to come until your troops and ships are properly taken care of. Also, remember that Supply and Support Task Force 116 is still at your disposal. The Council of War is scheduled to take place in 3 days.

As for the matter of security aboard the HNS Vulpine. The HNS Vulpine and its Carrier Battle Group of 20 warships is more than 200 miles from any point of land in New Hamptonshire. Not only does the HNS Vulpine possess formidible defensive capablities by herself but the Carrier Task Force assigned to her is also very heavily armed.

In addition, the HNS Vulpine is located behind the Main Defensive Perimeter that the Royal Navy has created around Eastern New Hamptonshire. Any rebel forces would have to go through over a hundred warships and submarines and slip past over 1,000 naval fighter/bombers.

The HNS Vulpine is the most secure place within a thousand miles of New Hamptonshire.

Mark Ellenberg, the AU's Secretary of State chuckled, "The events of a day..."

Richard turned more serious, [i]"I have drafted this letter to the New Hamptonshire forces, send it immediatly:

To whom it may concern;

I am appauled sirs at your lack of regard for the rules of war, and I am hereby giving you the following message.

My troops are now some 50km south of Patriot City. If Austarian Forces are fired upon by nuclear, or thermonuclear weapons, I will automatically boost my commitment to one million troops. I am sure you cannot handle such a dreadnaught. We will not back down from the likes of you...

Yours in Battle,

Richard Hoffman
President of the Republic of Austar Union

In the meantime, some 50km south of Patriot City, the Austarians tredge on, having encountered little resistance so far...

"This is Chancellor Robert Frey broadcasting to the People of New Hamptonshire and the Invading Imperialist Forces.

We will not cease our fight. As I have stated before, once the Invading Forces closed to 30 miles we would use nuclear artillery. An hour ago Austar Union Forces crossed that line, when they did so Patriot Army field commanders fired an 17 kiloton nuclear artillery shell at the main body of their troops. We do not know what the casualties are, but the Austarian Forces have halted their advance.

To the north almost a hundred thousand Hamptonian Royal Marines and Royal Army troops are storming toward Paradise City. They are expected to cross the 30 mile mark sometime within the next 48 hours. Once they do so, they will receive the same welcome that we gave to the Austarian Forces.

Some of you may have heard that Jarstoor-Melbis State has defected- I say to all of you loyal Patriots THAT IS A LIE. The Imperialist Invaders stormed into State and killed millions of women and children. FIGHT TO AVENGE THEIR DEATHS!

Ask we speak hundreds of thousands of Patriot Army Volunteers are moving toward the mountains and forest of the North. If the evil Imperialist Invaders manage to slaughter us in the cities of the South, We will continue the fight in the North for a hundred years.

The Patriot Army has completed the erradication of all foreign nationals in Paradise City. The only foreign national left alive is the Kaufmanstad ambassador. He will be killed if Kaufmanstad participates in any attacks upon New Hamptonshire. The traitors Henry Harburk and Jacob Gustav are awaiting their final punishment in the Paradise City Military Prison. We will provide justice to all of the wicked.

If the Imperialist Invaders get into Paradise City, they will not live to regret their mistake. That is a promise.

LONG LIVE THE CONFEDERACY!"

A good percentage of them are imperalists, to borrow from your delicious speech. Though I might say- you guys got great weapons. I took this one rifle from a dead voluteneer that couldn't accept the fact that his column got shot up, bombed to bits, and finally surrounded by us. It shoots real good. We are deeply concerned by the threat of open nuclear combat between the Allies and New Hamptonshire. We cannot exaggerate the seriousness of these threats against our troops as we cannot protect them if this continues to occur, we simply don't have the manpower or equipment to combat the radiation effects should they begin firing nuclear artillery at forward troop positions.

Do not take this as a sign that my forces are not willing to go on the fighting, but I still believe we should be building up strategic ballastic sites aimed at New Hamptonshire as a detterance towards New Hamptonshire from firing nukes. We should also place a halt on all offensive units and move on to a more open ended search and destroy mission from our Navy and Air Force to remove the nuclear sites. With this airborne coordination and intelligence we can remove the Nuclear threat and resume and protect ground operations.

Correction: our troops carry AK's. My men have yet to determine what type of model their new spoils are- M-16's or a derivitive of that model. I myself tend to carry a revolver- issued pre-Revolution and complete with a tasseled cutlass. Oh- and some members aboard the subs have managed to get their hands on some radios we confiscated and are having fun replying to Chancellor Rey's announcements. If you hear them replying with 'Friends in PRKS' it's them. I'm allowing to do such a manner due to it helping moral.

Combat: Encountered another base trying to establish AA guns about 10 klicks away from the previous site of the thrust. They were taken care of as well as finding information of the N. Hamptonshirean activity within the region. I have sent the Iowa to do a volley within the region and we have managed to gain some victories- although there is nothing left after it. The Patriot Army only possess two or three more nuclear artillery shells. They are both thought to be located in Paradise City. The cannons that fire them only have a range of 30 miles. You are far beyond their range. Terra Pacfician Forces are safe. We have over 10,000 Special Ops personnel searching the Paradise City Defensive Perimeter for the devices.

Rest assured, if we cannot find the artillery batteries with nuclear capablity, it will be Hamptonian Troops that will enter the area first. We will not ask our Allies to risk themselves to take back our Colony. It would not be right.

As for the combat, your forces are doing a bang up good job. I congratulate you. I should also point out that our intelligence leads us to believe that Southern New Hamptonshire (Where all the cities are located) only has about 50,000 Patriot Army fighters. You should not have too much trouble. The 6th Army Group will be joining the fight in the South very soon.

The cities of New Hamptonshire are boring to say the least, if you want to see a city that is a true gem of architecture and planning you have to see Hamptonshire City. The gleaming white buildings of marble and polished limestone, the Grand Ducal Obelisk- a 700 foot tall obelisk with a polished black obsidian exterior, the silver helmeted Royal Palace Guards on every street corner in the Government District. A sight to behold.

The KNS Stuville slowly crept into Paradise City under the cover of night, carefully silencing pilot and patrol boats that came near it. Once the destroyer was within range of the city, a single surface to surface missile was fired at the city. Four minutes later, the missile crashed into a warehouse next to the inner harbor, instantly destroying it, and igniting an inferno.

Commodore Pickney then spoke into the radio on a New Hamptonshire frequency.
"This is the Kaufmanstad Navy Ship Stuville, All rebel forces are asked to surrender unconditionally in one hour. Should you choose to surrender, Kaufmanstader Marines will be sent in to secure the city, and protect its citizens and no further damage will be done to the city.

With that, the Commodore ordered the conclusion of the raid. The Stuville launched 20 more missiles into warehouses lining the harbor and fired the 20 mm guns into surrounding ships. The destruction caused several fires to spread into the city. 17 warehouses were now burning and 27 ships now decorated the bottom of Paradise City Harbor.

It comes with great pleasure to tell the allied nations that the first wave of my forces have officially landed in Melbis National Airport and Melbis Port. Our forces as we speak are now unloading equipment, personnel. Already I have the 1st Marine Division at the ready and is moving up north to meet up with Hamptonian Forces as we prepare for a massive offensive to finally take 'Paradise City', also as of 2230 Hours I have deployed the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Airgroup to destory targets of oppurtunity (searching for nuclear artillery) in Paradise City and the 1st Republican Special Guard to destroy anti personnel and anti air installation. We've also launched a large naval ballastic (non nuclear) barrage against military strongholds in the city. Estimated results are predicted to be devastating letting our infantry and calvary units to liberate paradise city and to move on phase with this war.

To the liberation of Paradise City we're proposing an amphibious invasion due east of Paradise and an airborne drop north of the city to cut off reinforcements and effectively flank 'Patriot' Forces with our main force from the south-west surrounding them in three different directions. Please give me any comments or suggestions to this plan offensive.

Be advised that Melbis is over 400 miles south of Paradise City.

It should also be noted that Austar Union has moved in 20,000 troops and is advancing from the south toward Paradise City. Last reports place them 20 miles from Paradise City. To the north the Royal Marine Expeditionary Force, 50,000 men, from Hamptonshire are fighting their way south. The Hamptonian forces are 32 miles from Paradise City. Hamptonian forces have also managed to capure Uppsala.

The 6th Army Group, 1.5 million men, have landed in Jarstoor-Melbis State and has dispatched the 11th Army and the 43rd Grand Division, 750,000 troops, to come to the aid and assistance of Kay Son's 50,000 troops in taking the cities of Jonkoping, Linkoping, Norrkoping, and Orebro.

The 3rd Army Group, 400,000 highly trained and specialized soldiers, is waiting in reserve on the coast to the north of Uppsala.

I suggest that Terra Pacifican troops rest in Melbis and then redeploy along the northern coast of New Hamptonshire.

Victory is Life.

As for the rest of my forces, we will continue our heavy aerial sorties bombardments over Paradise City as we seek to destroy and cripple her infrastructure that supports the rebels.

As for the actual taking of Paradise City we hope you seriously adopt our plan and like it stated prepare for an airborne drop in the north, amphibious assault from the east and allied troops marching from the southwest. The first marine division will move as quickly as it can to see if it could make any difference into the coming battle.

As for your request for our ground forces to establish a second front in the north, we've decided to take your suggesion and rest our troops from their long journey after which we will begin combat manuvuers and deploy by sea to the north with new refreshed troops into the Lapponia region. This assault will be lead by the 2nd Marine Division and the 1st Republican Airborne.

We are currently having trouble with the cities of Jonkoping & Linkoping. Due to our lack of infantry artillery, we are currently being pinned on the outside perimeter of those cities. There are no AA guns within the city: that much has been taken care of. However, it is those rebel tendencies of inhabiting tunnels within the city that are bothering us. We have suffered 230 casulties with twice that in wounded. The cities, in response to this have been slagged to the ground with those rebel encampments within that area have also been reduced to rubble. We have pulled support from the troops you have aided us and are currently flushing whatever troops are within that area. We need artillery and our navy is currently limited due to the distance and sighted rebel movement along the coastline of Jarstoor. Help is needed.

Melbis and Jarstoor are defended by over 750,000 men of the Royal Army and Royal Marines as well as by 20,000 men of the Jarstoor-Melbis State Guard. This area, as well as the Uppsala region are fully reconqured zones of New Hamptonshire.

I have ordered Field General McNamara to rush his 3 Grand Divisions to your locations as soon as possible. He assures me that in 4 hours time the first reinforcements from the Royal Army will be at your side.

I should mention that I was never good at city names. I apologize for such inadequecies.

The Green Marks Wing has located a rebel base about 300 klicks N. of the two cities but it was rather small compared to the introduction of massed numbers within Jonkoping that seem to grow. Our numbers have increased to 400 with much of the reinforcements taken out of the supply and the ships. The spoils are coming in quite handy although I'm afraid that there won't be Jonkoping to visit once we are done. I am told that the city resembles more of a slag heap of various construction material and corpses. Recent reports have placed the outer perimeter as controlled ground with the interior a hotbed of successfull and failed thrusts from the rebel base. As for Linkoping, I am told that half the city has been recaptured thanks to your supply unit with ....prisoners accidently meeting their deaths a little too soon for intel workers to do their work. I have ordered my men to restrain themselves although their anger seems justified due to the combat as seen within that city.

The hunt for these rebels continue...

General Allenberg's face looked grave, it had been assumed that the entire Austarian Force in New Hamptonshire had been wiped out by the nuclear shell, "We gave them a warning, I want one million troops in New Hamptonshire as soon as possible. Im sticking by the President's Word. Teachem not to f*ck with the Austar Union."

His advisor only nodded, "Using what transportation method sir?"

The General's forehead crinkled, "I want to test run the fleet of our new Transtar F-2's. That will get one million troops into New Hamptonshire 4 hours from command. I want them dropped right into Patriot City, and to the area of the south."

His advisor cracked a smile, "Nothing like Austarian Subtleness ey?"

General Allensberg laughed, "Nothing like it..."

Four Hours Later...

Above Patriot City, the sky was clear blue. Suddenly, a huge boom came from above as something entered the atmosphere. In the sky, a white streak was being formed. Without warning, it was joined by dozens of others. Continuing on for a few hours, it was apparent that hundreds of thousands of paratroopers were dropping in, right into the center of Patriot City. As the troops landed, citizens would scatter. Troops uncliping themselves, and organising themselves into Platoons. Once organised, they ran towards particular areas on the map, where the New Hamptonshire forces and government were being commanded from... Their orders were simple. Fire if fired Upon, and sieze the capital of New Hamptonshire...

Chancellor Frey and his his most senior cabinet advisors were moving into their new command station in the heart of the New Hamptonshire Forest when a squad of Patriot Army guards rushed to the Chancellor and escorted him to the main conference trailer.

On the screen was Commandant Greely, still in Paradise City, he was still in the Chancellory Bunker. As the Chancellor watched the screen he could see the room shake, dust fall, and fires begin to burn in the War Room. The screen would at time be consumed by static but luckily the technician was able to clear up the image.

On the screen the Chancellor saw some woman tap Greely on the shoulder. He turned around and began to speak: "Looks like we got you out just in time Chancellor. The nuclear attack that allowed you and the Cabinet to escape the city caused the damn Austarians to hit us harder than we thought."

Frey steped forward and spoke into a microphone, "Greely, how many men are we talking about? And how did they get into Paradise?!?"

"Chancellor, they came from the air. We didn't have a chance to shoot them down. From what we can tell the Austarians have managed to get almost a million troops into Paradise City. The Patriot Army is fighting back, but we don't have a chance. What is destroyed by the Austarians from the ground is either bombed or shelled by the damned Hamptonian Royal Marines and Royal Navy. I expect that Paradise City will fall in 16 hours."

"Are you sure Greely? Is Paradise City lost?"

"Without a doubt Chancellor. The Patriot Army has also almost been forced completely out of all the cities of the South."

"Greely, now the fight will be decided here in the mountains and forests then. How far is the Royal Marine and Royal Army from Paradise City? I think you understand what I am saying."

"Yes, Chancellor. The Hamptonians will catch the tail end of the blast. Please give me the final order to detonate the bomb."

Frey dropped the mic from his mouth and thought quietly for a moment. On the screen he could see the bunker move and shake from the force of bombs hitting the ground above it. He picked the microphone back up, and said "Greely, you are so ordered."

With that Greely salutes Frey and turns around. Greely picks up a keypad, enters in the code sequence "001*666" and walks out of the camera's view. The technician turns off the screen.

Everyone present in the forest command command center was silent and still. They all knew that in one minute Paradise City would be a memory. The lives of 4 million New Hamptonshire citizens and over a million troops on both sides of the conflict would end this day, and for a moment even Robert Frey shed a tear.

OCC: To be clear about it, what was detonated was the second 2.5 megaton cobalt jacketed thermonuclear bomb.

The President watched the events unfold live at home before his eyes. As he watched the bomb explode, he broke down, crying. Some 300 000 Austarians had died in that very instant. As he watched, his wife rushed in to comfort him. Shaking, the President told of what had just happened, "The New Hamptonshirians.....bomb.......300 000....dead...."

His wife, shed a tear, but held back for her beloved husband, "There are still 700 000 troops in the south...remember, you dropped them into the city, AND to the south. Id say a further 300 000 were killed in the 30km radius. That still leaves 400 000 in the south, safe from harm."

"THATS NOT THE POINT!", cryed out the President, "Heather, thats 600 000 of Austarian's own killed. Thats an operation 10 times as deadly as Vietnam dammit!"

As he began to gather himself, he picked up the telephone. He had recently recieved intelligence that the New Hamptonshirians had retreated into the forests. His order was quick, and he as soon as he barked it out, he hung up the phone, "Burn the forests..."

Within a matter of hours, a large ring of fire could be seen from space, followed by a massive cloud of smoke. The ring of fire was already fast moving towards the center, where the Chancellor had been presumed to be hiding....

Grand Duke Reginald Leopold I sat in the War Room deep underneath Hamptonshire City watching the carnage. He sat at a large table surrounded by his Cabinet and leading members of the Royal Congress.

"Gentlemen" Prime Minister Cessar said while pounding the table,"this cannot stand. I say that we give Field Marshal von Gersten full authority and full command to do as he sees fit."

Sir Walter Melville rose and grabbed Cessar's shoulder, "I agree, as Defense Minister I say that Field Marshal von Gersten should be given the authority to bomb all of New Hamptonshire if need be..."

"Absolutely not!" Foreign Minister Lord Easton replied, "the New Hamptonians are Citizens of the Hamptonian League and New Hamptonshire is Hamptonian soil. While Austar Union can attack the forest and other centers, we must restrict our attacks. I believe the Grand Duke stands with me on this."

With that the two dozen men and women in the room break out into loud disagreement. They point to maps and quote international law to each other. The Grand Duke, however, is quitely sitting in his chair and looks at a screen showing casualty figures. He picks up a notebook and slams it on the table. Everyone quiets and turns toward the Grand Duke.

"Debate is pointless. I already gave the order to bomb the forest and the mountains. As I speak high-level stealth 'Bruntik' and 'Jorachi' bombers and hitting the forests with precisions munitions. Behind them are C-71s and AN-225s carrying hundreds of MOABs. In 2 hours there will be no more forests, there will be no more mountains. Now leave, all of you. We have a war to finish and two cities to rebuild."

Everyone in the room stays still for a moment, then everyone leaves the room to finish the jobs that they need to do.

Chancellor Rey, I would like to inform you the last vestiges of your southern front has been eliminated. All those whom have survived are now prisoners or corpses.

But that is not the point. The point is your action of what you did at Paradise City.

To commit the last defense is honorabe. This has been replicated witin our code of honor from the first day when the T'sing T'sau's settled on Kay Son soil.

But to pull an atomic bomb on both the liberators and your own men is dispicable. It fully violates every code of honor that I have known from my infancy. Therefore, I will charge my air force contingent to do the following:

1) To kill any resisting force from your services
2) To find your headquarters within the forest you dwell in and slag anything moving within that area
3) To measure what crimes each survivor has done, convene a trial, and if found guilty, rehabilitation through hard labor with no chance of parole.

The Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire supports the trial of any Patriot Army leader over the rank of Colonel and any member of the Confederate Government. The trials will take place in Melbis under the jursidiction of the Royal Armed Forces of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire. While we have not set up the exact details, there will be a council of 6 Judges that will hear the evidence and decide upon a verdict. Each participating nation in this conflict (Hamptonshire, Austar Union, Terra Pacifica, and Kay Son) will be represented by one military judge. In addition one military judge will come from the Loyal New Hamptonshire Government of Jarstoor-Melbis State. The 6th Judge will be the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire. I should mention that Hamptonshire does have a death sentence and such sentences are still carried out.

As for the strikes on the forest, I have ordered massive strikes against supposed Patriot Army sites in the Mountains and Forests of Central and North Hamptonshire. After such a strike is carried out a brigade of soldiers is dispatched to the site to ensure complete destruction and to take prisioners. So far 15% of the forests have been destroyed.[/code:1:a27f62f053]

Overhead the forests, as the fires begin to burn and bomb runs begin to be made, Austarian Planes were fifing overhead.

Inside the cargo hold, three men were busy readying for the drops. Quickly they opened up the hatches and pushed one bomb out. As it fell, it hit the ground, yet no explosion occured. Within seconds, smoke began to pour out from the site where the bomb was dropped. If they were going to burn the forests, they would at least try to smoke the Patriot Forces out of the forests first.

"It's smoke!" a lieutenant screamed "They're trying to smoke us out."

"God damn it. They've found us!" Chancellor Frey said aloud while running to the cave openning. "Can we escape lieutenant?"

"Chancellor, unless you can somehow sprout wings from your ass we aren't getting out of this one. I say in 5 minutes we are going to be hit with weapons of extreme magnitude."

Chancellor Frey, his Cabinet, and the surviving leadership of the Patriot Army all huddled together and discussed among themselves something very quietly.

"Sir," Defense Director Olsten whispered, "you know how these attacks work. Austar or Hamptonshire drops these sort of bombs while Special Forces troopers are waiting close by. If we leave, we'll be shot."

"I don't want to die, gentlemen. We'll send out all of the soliders here with guns blazing. After all of the weapons fire stops we will all leave. If our troops managed to kill the enemy we will escape, if not we surrender. Either way we won't die." Frey said quietly to the group.

"Lieutenant, gather all the men and charge out. I want you all to fire at will at any target that moves. Don't stop your attack until everything is secure."

"Yes, Chancellor."

The lieutenant and 3 dozen Patriot Army soliders gather their weapons and run out of the cave into thick smoke. Chancellor Frey and the others begin to hear gun shots. After about 2 minutes of intense firing, it becomes silent.

Frey, his Cabinet, and the surviving leadership of the Patriot Army gather together. They grab a white table cloth to use as a white flag, a megaphone, and a radio. If they need to surrender they want to be heard.

They all stop and take a breath. Either their guards slayed the enemy Imperialists or now they would be prisoners of the Invading Imperialist forces.
