There was am unnatural rippling in the sea adjacent to the land of mereford.

Sea birds flew away from where they floated idly as the water began to churn and bubble with unseen energy.

Suddenly, 10 periscopes emerged from the roiling surface, creating a rather satisfying "gloop" noise as they rose.

Following the slender tubes came huge black masses punctuated with new rivets.

The submarines of Brittainica had arrived.

The Cute Little Dinosaurs along Mereford's Eastern border had been restless for days now. A creature blessed, as folk lore would have it, with precognitive abilities, the beasts were used in times of "Ye" as war mounts.
Of course, decency and Morale thinking made that impossible now, but the magnificant creatures roamed aimlessly about, amusing curious locals as they will.
Nobody made much of their recent behaviour though; the Mereford Times ran the lead story that this was a supernatural expression of fear - the latest political debates held these creatures fate in the balance. In mere hours the first legal dishes of their meat were to be served to the waiting nation. The reporter had decided this was the reason behind the trouble breaking out.
During all this, not a jt was observed mere kilometers out, into the big blue, where the real threat lurked.
