Exham monarchy overthrown!

Exham

FNW-Roberto Guzimieian reporting

C.D. Ward has seized power of the small island nation of Exham. Rebels under his command stormed the capital palace in Innsmouth in the early morning hours of April 12th; they met little resistance, as many former Royal Exham troops had already defected and those inside quickly surrendered to the overwhelming number of Republic units. Two remaining monarchy members who had not previously fled into exile were executed, one is being held by republic forces.
President Ward has already made a speech to the world saying, “…and the isolationist polices of the monarchy are no more…Exham is ready once again to enter the global arena.” He discussed the new system of government, “In one month’s time we will again have free elections, I promise Exham and I promise the world; Exham will have democracy!” Ward declined any follow up questions only saying, “I promise to do all in my power to make this country great.” Other Republic officials declined any questions regarding official policy or the upcoming elections.
Some looting occurred-most heavily in the capital of Innsmouth-but Minister of Defense Herbert West says that such crime is negligible and that order will be maintained, citing that much of the country was firmly under Republic before the final push on the palace. The mood in the streets is one of celebration more than chaos and Republic MPs do not seem overwhelmed by a significant rise in violence.

[OOC: Hello, this is my first post here in over a year, and with a new country.]
