The Fatimid Army crosses the Canal! (Semi-closed)

OOC: Only people already with a stake in this conflict can join the RP, namely Jarridia, LowerEgypt, Fluffywuffy, Al-Anbar, Matich (since he owns the canal), and a few others. Anyone else must confer with me/Jarridia/LowerEgypt if they want to join.
IC

As another huge air raid of Daylami-modified F/A-18Z "Zupin" aircraft began the routine air attacks across the canal, the Second and Third Armies, numbering around 348,000 men, queued up on the eastern side of the canal. Finally, after a huge bombardment of 200mm and greater artillery, the first wave of armored brigades swept across on the bridging equipment. Finding the area largely deserted [LowerEgypt never posted any troop movements to the canal], nevertheless, the M1A2s opened up a huge barrage against any muzzle flashes. The main thrust was along the middle and southern portions of the Canal, with only secondary attacks along the coast, which was patrolled by Fatimid battleships. The infantry regiments followed, spraying the area with fire. As the armored brigades secured the center of the Western side of the canal, they wheeled south toward their main objective: Suez. Tank columns crossed and opened up 120mm shells on the city as Force 1 (the first force over) came on from the north. Zupin aircraft flew overhead and surgically removed AA emplacements as the gigantic armored forces of the Fatimid Caliphal Army swept into the city. The enormous troops numbers moved across the bank in all directions. Infantry regiments poured across next, and began entrenching along the Western Bank. Suez was completely encircled, and a mass assault numbering some 70,000 men stormed the city. The rest of the men put up fortifications outside the western side of the city.

WOAH! How are you getting this far without resistance? Are you really entering Egypt despite threats? And since when is FluffyWuffy and Al Anbar involved?
Daylam
12-04-2004, 05:46
I think Al-Anbar is my ally, not sure, he may not be. Fluffywuffy has become my ally against LowerEgypt, in case you didnt know.

I didnt get that far into Egypt. If you look at a map the town of Suez is right across from the Sinai. Also, I technically was already "in" Egypt, I had occupied the Sinai.

OOC: Alright. I'll have to TG FluffyWuffy and find out what is going on.

IC: At the news of the Daylam invasion of Suez and into Egypt, Jarridian forces are being ordered to begin the invasion of Suez and into Egypt. Transports are being escorted to the coasts and the Infantry and Marines are beginning their invasion.

BTW, this is possible....you know I have been planning the invasion since we are already at war. I've been off the coasts for weeks

So, with all that 200 mm artillery fire and M1A2 tank presence...was there any land left to move onto? I mean, really it seems more like overkill than a war. What's the point of wasting precious ammunition when no resistance is met.
Daylam

OOC: How many men? You cant fit 4 million men on the coast or have them there without me knowing or attempting some sort of naval battle to stop them first. Also, where are you landing? Finally, prepare to die. May the most religiously motivated nation win
Remember, the largest amphibious invasion numbered 100,000 men. Obviously the technology has improved somewhat, but I wouldnt put the number in the course of a few days as too high.

IC

"Shit!" General Ali remarked as he heard the news of the Jarridian invasion. "Where are they landing?" he prompted Arslan.
"No news sir, soldiers should return with the information soon enough."
"Are we prepared for the scum?"
"Quite, sir, they have nothing on our troop numbers with their amphibious force."
"I want the Eastern Fleet down here, ASAP. Destroy this threat before it materializes."
"Contact Junior?"
"Yes, Arslan." The General chuckled a grim laugh. "I'm sure he will be more than happy to destroy the Jarridian fleet. After you have arranged the arrival of the Eastern Fleet, get to the front lines. Ismailia is being assaulted."
"Sir, what is the plan?"
"A full-on strike at Cairo."
"Very well, sir." General Arslan left the room.

Huge numbers of Fatimid forces continued to pour across the Canal as the final resistance in Suez was crushed. The Fatimids moved to their next target: Ismailia. Forces moved in from the east and south, mostly of armored units of the Second Army. Zupin aircraft swarmed the skies over the city.

OOC: I do have the 7th Army and the 5th MEF there along with Special Forces. It wouldnt be that easy so slow it down ok. Lets say you are attacking the canal still ok?

12-04-2004, 06:12
OOC: Where does it show you having the 7th Army there? Furthermore, WHY are you attacking me? I stated that I would pay you full reparations for the canal for any damage done to it after my forces had passed it. As for Jarridia, I havent directly attacked him, while he has attacked me and killed a peaceful officer of mine. You have no reason to attack me.

Sir Daylam is attacking us!

Report it to Matich!Alert all forces and call for reinforcements. I need all carriers in the area to provide air support. Get the A10s to begin making gun runs. I want the F22s to take control of the skies!

Yes Sir!

I want the Marines to hold the canal while the the 7th holds Suez and supports the Marines is that clear? And I want the Amphib warfare ships to make an amphibious landing with all their marines behind the enemies lines.

General Ali sat contemplating as the messages poured in from his assault groups: A full Matich army was located in Suez. Finally, he radioed back.

"If they engage our men, destroy them."

The phone rang again, this time it was High Admiral Zheng al-Din II.

"The Eastern Fleet is in position, sheilding the Medit. Coast, General. I will destroy any naval forces trying to get in."

"Nevertheless, I am sending the 6th, 8th, 12th, 13th, and 14th regiments to be stationed behind your fleet."

"Very well."

Approximately 400,000 men were now over. They had swept around the flank of the city of Suez, and fought minor skirmishes with Matich personnel there.

Official communique to the government of Daylam.
In recent days, you may have noticed several launches in LowerEgypt.
These were Atlas rockets carrying our new secret weapons into space.
These weapons have nuclear weapons and laser weapons capable of destroying whole armies.
They are targeted not at your armies in the Suez but at your capital and other major cities. If you do not withdraw, I will use them to destroy your nation.

12-04-2004, 06:24
Zheng al-Din II sat watcing as intelligence poured in of the approaching Jarridian forces. He then made his decision.
"We will split the Eastern Fleet."
There was an odd trend with the officers in the Fatimid navy, most being of Chinese or Mongol descent. Zheng al-Din was half-Mongol, and his two sub-commanders Hong Bao and Zhou Man were both Chinese.
"Hong Bao, take about 40 ships and intercept the incoming Jarridian interests. I and Zhou Man will stay here and await the Western Fleet.

Then, Ali ordered the hammer blow: The entire conversation and the Daylami response was transmitted to TVs across Egypt and Daylam. Rioting was expected.

OOC: Jarridia, you have to go through my Eastern Fleet before you can land.

"Go" was the simple word Admiral Hong Bao gave as the 40 ships of the Fatimid Caliphal Navy Eastern Fleet unleashed a taste of hell onto the Matich forces as increased air support from land forces arrived. ~400 F/A-18Z "Zupin" planes lifted off to duel the Matich (what is the adjective of your nation, it is driving me crazy!!) aircraft.

Meanwhile, on the ground, half the previous force was on the other side, numbering 1,100,000 men. General Arslan gave the command and the Fatimid forces slammed into the northern flank of Suez as another armored column crashed into the East side.

Ismailia, a LowerEgyptian city, was declared occupied by Fatimid forces.

In the Military camps, AA fire downed most of the missiles, but some managed to strike. The religious fervor of the Fatimid soldier could not be quenched, and the masses surged over the dead, shouting cries of victory as they surged into Suez.

Also, I have a 1.5 million man army in Jordan, to your rear.

The armies of loweregypt that were in Jordan were ordered to turn southward into the Sinai to meet the armies of North Africa in a gigantic pincer movement blocking the Daylam forces from having any hope of retreat.

All together, there were 2.5 million troops pouring in on enemy forces in the Sinai.

The order sent fear throughout the entire Fatimid Army: Egyptian armies in Jordan were wheeling to attack the Sinai.

"What do we do?" Arslan stuttered over the radio as news spread.
"Quiet!" barked Ali.
Zheng al-Din was informed of the "small problem."

"I am ordering in the Western Fleet. That brings our total to over 200 ships. I will fight to the last vessel against the enemy out here, just give me air and SAM cover. I dont know what to do about your little problem on land."

Great, thought Ali, what now? For an entire 45 minutes, all communications to Ali were cut as he contemplated a way out of this impending massacre. With the Jarridian and Matich forces involved, the Fatimid army was outnumbered by more than 3 to 1. The 2.4 million men in the Sinai would not be adequate.

Finally, he rose. He phoned the Caliph, who promptly ordered in another 5-million men, to arrive in waves of 120,000 men, the most possible under the circumstances. They would move through friendly territory in Israel to reach the Sinai.

Slowly, surely, General Ibrahim Ali began to plan his holding maneuver. Zheng al-Din II was phoned again, this time with orders to do, well, exactly what he had said: fight to the last vessel.

Ali ordered his armies into a defensive triangle centering around Ismailia, Suez, and a predetermined point on the west bank of the Canal.

Abadoned by allies, surrounded and outnumbered by orders of magnitude, the Caliph and his General, Ibrahim Ali, stood silent on their respective phones as the news of the surrender proposal. All in Daylam knew of it, and the government already knew what the masses wanted: Death to the last man. In this the dual personality of the various people in the government was revealed: that of a member of the restored Fatimid dynasty of Egypt, and that of a leader of a state that needed to survive.

The former won out.

"Radio the Egyptian government," Ali said to his aide. "Tell them to go..."
The secretary decided to put it in better terms.

To the LowerEgyptian government: Frankly, no. Cairo must be restored to the Caliph. If you offered us ceasefire, we would only come back later, at an opportune moment. Our commitments do not allow to back down from jihad. We will die with honor and enter paradise.

--Signed, Commander of the Sinai operation,

In the military situation, the units posted along the Fatimid-Jordanian border abadoned it and struck up defensive positions about halfway into the Sinai, where they began constructing fortifications. Suez was maintained as under siege, and the armies further entrenched along the their lines.

Moving down and hugging the coast, the first squadron of transports, carrying 120,000 men in helicopters and ships, actually entered Al-Anbar, Fluffywuffian, and then occupied Egyptian waters before landing behind the defensive emplacement of Daylami naval forces. There were now 2.32 million men in the Sinai, and already more convoys were on their way. Meanwhile, the Last Triangle, as it was being called, was strengthened in preparations for the waves of Loweregyptian, Jarridian, and Matich forces that would ultimately have to throw themselves into it with heavy casualties to be able to break it. A huge fortified line was raised along the midway point of the Sinai peninsula as the Fatimid Caliphal 2nd, 3rd, and parts of the 4th army prepared to make a last stand.

Continuing to read themselves for what could be a very bloddy battle, Jarridian Ground Forces fortify themselves in Port Said and along the Canal. The men were restless, the thought of heading in against an enemy that wasn't willing to back down was, to say the least, frightening.

5 B-2 Bombers were sent up with exact coordinates to bomb enemy lines and fortifications. 50 F-15 and F-22 Fighters are up to patrol the skies and launch missiles at specified locations. Naval vessels in the region have been ordered to barrage the coast, and destroy any transport that tries to bring troops and supplies in.

~JS 'Cruiser"~ (sorry, haven't thought of names)

A messenger walked onto the bridge: "Sir, reports indicate that Daylam is sending convoys to the Sinai."

"Very good, very good. Plot us an intercept course, but make sure the submarines strike first. Then we'll follow and add to the chaos. Make sure every captain knows that there will be a great reward to the ship that sinks the most Daylamian vessels."

In a large step backwards, the Fatimid Army withdrew its forces across the Canal and issued an ultimatum: The entire canal structure would be destroyed if coalition forces continued to advance, and the link between Red Sea and Mediterranean destroyed. Furthermore, 2 more convoys arrived, bringing the total number of men in Sinai to 2.49 million, outnumbering the attacking forces of Matich and Jarridia by QUITE a bit. A full-scale offensive and the destruction of the Jarridian-Matich forces before the arrival of Lower Egypt was declared if they continued to advance.

On the battle front, the Fatimid soldiers continued to fight, battle cries thundering across the field in Arabic as the highly trained holy warriors were oblivious to any bullets ripping into them until they were finally downed. A huge line of artillery, armor, infantry, AA, and AT forces stretched along the length of the canal. Every Fatimid soldier took a pledge to take 10 foreigners with him before entering paradise, and every one of them took the oath extremely seriously. In the air, A-10A and F/A-18Z planes continued to outnumber and destroy isolated Jarridian air units as they waited for more convoys to arrive. Line after line of trenches and fortified places was thrown up on both fronts as the Fatimids prepared to die.
In a token of extreme insolence, General Ali called upon the immediate surrender of all hostile forces and the ceding of Lower Egypt [the region, not the country] to Fatimid forces if they wished to leave with a nation left.

OOC: You still have not noticed the fact that i have overwhelming naval superiority and realistically have destroyed yoru navy and air force. There is no way you can have landed those men. Now start thinking realistically.

I ask you not to post my losses.....thanks Daylam. I will decide what air units are destroyed. You continue throwing around godmodding like.....2.4 million troops? Yeah....right...seeing as how everyone is attacking your ground troops and transports. Air force? Sure...whatever. If you don't stop....I just suggest everyone involved just ignore him in this whole "war"

OOC: To make everyone happy in the interest of saving the RP from collapse, the entire Fleet is declared sunk. The entire Air Force is destroyed. All units are in Sinai and not over the canal. No one is specifying WHERE they are attacking, how many are attacking, etc.
Probably the same result, just much less casualties to you.

I declared my involvement in the old thread, before i realized things had moved to this one. Also, I am a part of the WWA and hence am on Jarridias side.

In an effort to thwart a massive attack against Jarridian troops in and around Port Said, the Jarridian Government has decided to land more troops. The Navy is clearing a path for protection and the transports make their way up to shore.
