Beastieland

Since the secession of the communists in south, the situation in Beastieland has continued to degenrate. Unemployment is rife, and the poor are left starving with no health care or education. The rich, meanwhile have benefitted from the abolition of income tax, the ascension of businesses into even higher positions of power, and increased law and order initiatives.
While most people do not support the formation of a Communist or Marxist state, the poor and working people of Beastieland have begun forming Trade Unions for the first time. They are calling for better working conditions, more jobs, and universal provision of Education and health care.
The Trade Unions have united to form the Labor Party of Beastieland, and are promising to stand in elections on a platform of democratic socialism. They pledge to create a society based on economic socialism, and political freedom. They also wish to follow a peaceful path to reunification with the communists, on the grounds of peaceful elections in the communist zone.
This latest development is troubling for embattled president Yauch, who pledged to reunify and rebuild the country. So far he has only overseen the transformation of the nation into a corporate Bordello. Even Opposition leader Michael Diamond, has failed to intiate any substantial reform.
It seems that Beastieland is headed towards fundemental change, though at the moment, another revolution looks unlikely. Marxism is percieved as violent, but capitalism is now discredited. The Trade Unions have called for a national strike until elections are called, and it looks like they will get one.
