Getting to Know One Another(Privite RP)

This thread is for myself and Vernii, it will be constsiting of a war game between our respective navies. Anyone else intressted in such a thing can telegram me.

And so it begins:

“Roll hard to port!” the soprano voice seemed strange in the din of battle such a beautiful sound had no place among the chaos of battle. Yet, that is what set it apart for all those who heard the level and clear voice immediately listened for it was the sound of their leader, in whom they had the utmost of confidence. “Pull that tincan division in closer, tighten up the PD.” Her orders were carried out, now as the brilliant flashes of the pd clusters were seen, lancing out to intercept the incoming missiles, a final defensive measure which meant only one thing, which was evident a second later…
“Brace for impact!” a male voice stated as yellow tracers were seen from the ships auto-cannons, an obsolete PD measure meant to intercept what few nukes the enemy shot at their targets. Unlike laser-heads nuke were “contact” warheads, allowing modern PD to shot them down quite effectively as they closed, laser-heads detonated at 20k km making t hem much more likely to hit their targets that said, a 5 M.T nuclear detonation was more likely to cripple a target.

Brace for impact, she thought to herself was another term left over from t he wet water navies of old earth. In modern warfare where laser dealt death at the speed of light damage was already being sustained before the term was out of the ensign’s mouth.
“Laser three destroyed, aft beta nodes, crippled are gone, and accel is down to 350 g’s.”
“Present starboard broadside, Rapid Fire on all tubes” with that order the four battleships rolled and fired simultaneously, sending 145 missiles at the enemy’s capital ships containing a dreadnaught and Liberty class battleship and 4 Sultan Battle Cruisers. The missile duel has been going on for a while with the enemy getting the worst of the exchange, the battle would go well if she could keep the enemy at a distance which was now unlikely with the damage to her ships Accel, a lucky hit that has ruinied her chances for victory. The enemy employed the same tactic, for missile defense and returned fire sending 150 missiles, 60 of them were smaller missiles from the BC’s that did not have the same destructive potential of those fired from Battleships, much less a Dreadnaught. Which explained why the enemy was desperately trying to close to energy range, their single DN contained just as much firepower as all four of her BB’s. Just at two brilliant flashes blinded those on the bridge,
“Nuclear Detonation, we lost the Canard and Williamstown.” The loss of the tincan division meant their PD screen was getting weaker.
“Have the LC’s fill in the gap, increase our distance from the enemy and Kill that DN!”
“Twenty seconds until the enemy is within energy range! We can outrun them ma’am their accel is too high.” The tactical officer stated, the Commonwealth Navy (CN) DN class vessels had an accel which was a faster then the Vernii built BB at 475 g’s when undamaged. Which showed the benefit of investment into internal compensators research, speed in battle was survival for the CN, which was something her command lost, she hoped to defeat the enemy at a distance, with the increased missiles complement of the Triumphant-A in her command but failed. Now she would pay the price.
Present port broadside as soon as they enter energy range pour it on! We will see how many of them we take with us.” She stated with grim determination.
“Firing now!” with that the ships of both commands fired their first energy salvos, these light-speed weapons where insanely powerful at ranges less then 40k km, and often were the deciding factor in battles, as the energy weapons of BB’s and larger classes could penetrate the armor of ventral and dorsal sections of ships. It was all over in a single broadside. Her flagship the BB Excalibur was targeted by half the energy weapons of the DN, the 400cm Grasers, and 375 cm lasers tore through the armor of her ship, the DN captain targeting her ships beta and alpha nodes looking to cripple her ship, they succeeded, as her ships wedge failed, but it wasn’t the graser that killed her directly it was the fusion reactors overloading as the beta nodes were hit, the chain reaction turned the previously only lightly damaged ship into molten slag. The same occurred on two other battleships of her taskforce, the fourth was heavily damaged but not killed. The sidewalls of the DN deflected most of her TF’s return fire but not all, it too was as crippled as her last BB, yet her surviving ships did not survive the return fire, neither did the DN, but the fact remained her command was wiped out, whereas the enemy still had a BB and 4 BC’s alive. She failed, as bile rose into her mouth as the vacuums activated removing the smoke from the bridge and the air-conditioning return the ships internal temperature to 64 degrees F, 40 less then it was in battle. The “enemy” commander’s face appeared on her com screen.
“May I commend you on a battle well fought Dame Covington. Had it not been for the damage to your ships nodes in the missile engagement things may not have turned out the way they did”
“Yes, if we are to adopt missile engagement doctrine we must find a balance between the Number of missiles we can put out without crippling our Energy batteries, and if anything I think this battle proves that Battleships can not handle a Dreadnaught at energy range.”
“I would say that is evident, which explains why we have so few BB in our navy, we can’t afford producing them in large numbers, and they can’t stand against real ships of the wall, unless they can keep the range open.” Thier diaolouge continued as their ships regrouped and returned to base.

With elements of the People’s navy due to arrive at their Fleet station in mere hours, the CN, decided to run a couple initial exercises such as the one just witness to feel out Vernii ships that were recently bought, to supplement the CN. It was agreed that War games would be an interesting exercise between the two nations, and go a long ways to forming a bond between the two nations. With the war games with the Vernii approaching in the next couple days, the data drawn from those engagements would be beneficial for the developing CN.

(I will post a link to my fact book soon which will have information on my navy and system soon, Vernii feel free to bring what ever you want for the exercise, hell show of force would be cool, open to anything for our games here.)

OOC: I'll post something IC later tonight when I have time. Will the wargames be using pure HH tech, like wedges and sidewalls? No missile pods or CLACs right? They have that bad habit of making battles extremely short.

Anyway, after looking over your fleet numbers, I think I'll send this if its fine with you:
12 Victory DNs
6 Triumphant-A BBs
12 Sultan BCs
6 Imperious BCs
18 Mars CAs
24 Turbulent DDs

Vice Admiral Daniel Vigilance stood on the Bridge of his Task Force’s flagship the Manifest Destiny, the first ship of the class of the same name. It was old and slow when compared to the C.N’s new Freedom class DN, but his flagship was chosen for its capabilities to function as a command ship, possessing the best communications and sensor suite of any ship in the fleet.

Like all those who resided in the Wick due to genetic manipulation Daniel body rippled with muscle giving him the strength of three men, he stood at six feet tall and was imposing. Like all males and females of his nation, his body had no hair and was heavily tanned. His face also bore the neon colored strips below and above his eyes, each was a unique shape and color for each person born and was some form of unknown technology that gave him night vision, all of these modifications were thanks to his people’s previous enslavement to the Vagrants.

As Daniel viewed the roster of the ships the Peoples Navy would be using in the War games, he contemplated what ships he should use. A smile crossed his face one that would be seen only on a five year old child who just stole several cookies before he had his supper.

He impute the data of which ships would be used in the exercise, and sent the data to fleet command and the necessary ships made transit to his existing TF’s Position out side Vernii fleet station in Home system.

Commonwealth of the Wick Naval Assets for the exercise: (Submitted for Approval)

4 Inflexible SD (See Benjamin the Great Class) only 475 accel though
4 Freedom DN
4 Triumphant-A BB
16 Fraternity BC
8 Sultan BC
8 Mars CA
16 Couragous CL
14 Hawkbat -DD
6-Turbulent DD
the PN's DN compared to the CN's SD's have roughly 80% of Missile tubes actually power more like 60% and 50% energy battery. Freedom BB and our other homemade stuff have fewer tubes total but faster accel then PN vessels.

"Coming up on hyper translation in thirty seconds Admiral."
Admiral Patrick nodded in acknowledgment to Andromeda's astrogation officer.

On the outer edge of the Thetis system

Ships flashed into existence, blue transit energy flaring from their impeller nodes. First came the lighter destroyers and escort ships, followed by the battlecruisers. Next came the battleships and two squadrons of immense dreadnoughts. Ships began matching velocities relative to one another, and the fleet settled into parade formation. A single transmission with accompanying visual was sent inwards toward the Wick homeworld.

The video displayed a man of about 50 years of age (in appearance only), wearing the black and silver uniform of the People's Navy. He was leaning back in his command chair, and folded his hands together. "This is Admiral Patrick of the Verniian People's Navy. We have arrived in-system for the commencement of our join war-games."

"Hyper Footprint detected!" the sensor officer shouted "Massive concentration, gravimetrics, makes it to be 12 of the wall and a half dozen Battleships with screening forces."

"That corresponds with the number of expected Vernii ships" the commander pauses for a second as he listens to the hail through an earpiece "Confirmed, they just hailed us, order the squadron to weigh anchor, and we are to escort them to the Vernii Fleet station." He flicks a hand at the comms officer, the signal to open an channel "Admiral Patrick, this is Commander Jake Spirit of Her Majesties' Light Cruiser Hope, we would be honored if you would follow my Squadron into the system to your Fleet station. From there I understand that the normal preliminaries will commence, a couple tours and state dinners, and then we shall get down to the fun, sir!" To an observer Jake is a typical Wicker, 6 foot tall, wide shoulders, well muscled, skin deeply tanned, he however had a shocking blue strips under both eyes each one symmetrical, they hooked around the eye sockets and joined at the top of his forehead, quite shocking for those who haven’t seen a wicker before.

With that the eight light cruisers of the Sqadron form into a close column formation and lead the way into the inner system.

Vice Admiral Daniel Vigilance looked impressive wearing the Green over Blue unifrom of the Commonwealth Navy.

He had to admit that the sight she saw impressive. The Vernii admiral's command of his troops and thier discipline in formation made for quite a show. These were veteran units, who would soon be testing his command's mettle, it was a thrilling feeling.

A communications channel was opened "Admiral Patrick welcome to the Thetis system. You and your staff are invited to a formal dinner at 1700 tonight aboard my flagship the DN-Freedom. After this diner perhapes we can discuss what exersices we would like these wargames to be comprised of. Untill then Essayons Sir!"

Patrick's fleet swung onto a new course to follow the light cruiser into the system. A transmission was sent to the Wick flagship.

"This is Admiral Patrick, thank you for your warm welcome. I would be honored to attend the dinner."

OOC: Is it all right if I skip ahead a bit to my fleet arriving at my fleet station?

OOC: I'm going to edit in the exchanges between Admiral Patrick and Captain Higgins later when I have more time. This part will be after that.

Patrick and Captain Garson, commanding officer of the Andromeda boarded the ship's VIP pinnace. The airlock shut and sealed behind them as they took their seats inside the spacious sublight craft. It lifted gently from the deck of Andromeda's Number One Boat Bay, and manuevered out using it's thrusters. Once it reached a safe range, it brought up it's impeller drive and began acceleration toward the Freedom.

*A couple hours later*

"Andromada One this the CNS Freedom, you are cleared to land in Boatbay one, Freedom out." the officer of the Watch stated from the bridge.

Vice Admiral Daniel Vigilance and Rear Admiral of the Red Lady Alyssia Covington stood in boatbay one wearing the Green over Blue unifrom of the Commonwealth Navy, awaiting the arrival of the Vernii pinnace. A group of 25 marines stood at attention while a small band stood ready to present honors to the arriving officers before a tour of the ship and dinner would commense.

Patrick's pinnace slowly floated into the bay and settled onto its docking pad. The light above the airlock door turned green and both doors opened. Patrick stepped through, then floated down the zero gravity tube. He grabbed the sidebar and swung through onto Freedom's deck. He turned and saluted the planetary flag of Thetis hanging in the boat bay, then turned to the side party. "Permission to board?"

The Captain of the ship a tall Wickian name Benjamin Vickers returned the admiral’s salute "Permission Granted." he stated after the sound of the bosun’s pipe and band faded "May i introduce Vice Admiral Daniel Vigilance and Rear Admiral of the Red Lady Alyssa Covington. "

Introductions were made, the honor guard and band dismissed. A quick tour of the ship was made as the captain led the party to the Dinning Room.

"The Freedom is the oldest dreadnaught in our service, the first of her class, she still serves us well today and has be refitted regularly throughout her service. She has a maximum accel of 460G's, can throw out 31 capital class missiles per broadside as well as 13 400cm lasers and 18 425cm grasers per broadside. Although she can not stand toe for toe against the newer ships in her class much less the new Constitution class dreadnaught, she has the most advanced flag bridge in our Navy she is the perfect flagship for any navy.”

As the party turned the corner, they entered the VIP mess hall, an ornate chamber of which only ships as large as Dreadnaught could afford to waste on such extravagance. There was one long table in the center of the chamber draped in a dark blue and green table cloth, the finest china and silver the fleet had to offer was set on table, the goblets filled with an emerald green wine, which would contrast perfectly with their main course of Thetian Long-fish. The party members took their seats and the courses began to be severed.

" Please Admiral, call me by the name the tester gave me Vigilance …” He continued “This is an emerald wine from the Arkalian continent on Thetis. I believe the vintage of this particular bottle is 169 Ante-Diaspora." He paused for a brief second.

"Arkalian has several regions that contain excellent vineyards. You must understand that our bodies are not the only things our Vagrant overlords " Vigilance stated pointing a finger to the bright green stripping that formed a jagged pattern on the top half of his face "altered on our world, they also altered various other things, their tampering resulted in several thousand new planets and species on our planet. The emerald grape is one of those byproducts. The grape is a touch on the bitter side, but at the same time presents the pallet with a full boldness that goes well with seafood"

It was at this time the stewards’ brought in a salad comprised of bitter greens and a simple tart vingerette, when the salad was consumed over idle chatter, the final course was brought, it was what every Wickian would end their meal with, a platter of various cheeses, Sweat Honey bread and Ale.

As the final course was laid in front of the dinners a previously unknown, incredibly youthful looking no more then 15 t-years old, midshipwomen stood and with a noticeable shake in her wrist raised her Tankard of Storm Draught (this is ale is a blend of distilled spirits is accentuated with seventeen different spices and aged in oaken casks for smoothness. Its said to have medicinal properties, and it is a favored companion to the C.N. mariners on long voyages in the dark lonely reaches of space.)

"Ladies and Gentlemen," she announced in a soft surprising soft voice, "I give you Thetis, the Keys, the Sword, and the Tester!" The Loyalty oath.

The Verniian officers raise their glasses and join the toast. "I'd like to add something," says Patrick, "To the success of our wargames, and to further relations between our great nations in the future."

"Now, I was thinking for the first exercise, we should do a fleet vs fleet engagement."

OOC: Only 18 days late... Let's get this started.

The fleet formed up at the edge of the war games boundary, floating silently amongst the blackness of space, far from the system's yellow star. Impeller nodes on each ship spiked with energy to simulate a massive hyper transit, easily detectable on almost every military sensor in the system. The capital ships brought their accel up to a leisurely 200 Gs, the lighter destroyers and cruisers forming a protective screen around them. The six Imperious battlecruisers detached from the main body, adjusting their course to take themselves above the system ecliptic, and brought up their accel to 400 Gs.

'Ma'am hyperspace footprint detected at the exercise boundary, the number of wedges present indicted it to be the Vernii fleet." the sensor officer stated, "it appears that six of their ships are breaking off and headed above the system ecliptic at 400G's.'
"Hmm thank you ensign, what of their main group" Covington asked the ensign"
"They are moving in system at only 200 G's Ma'am, at their current rate of acceleration they will reach the asteroid field in 2 hours"
"Assume battle formation, Navigation plot us a course for interception 350 G's , launch the recon drones and detach Strength squadron to shadow those Imperious BCs. lets do this by the numbers and we will be successful."

As her command brought up their wedges Covington thought of the pros and cons of her vessels in this battle. ONI predicted that her ships have a heavier energy barrage then the Vernii could hope to produce with her fraternity class battle cruisers and her super dreadnaught Lance, however the Vernii had over 28 % advantage in capital ship missiles per broadside, however she was confident her ECM and PD was superior to their Vernii counterparts. The forces were quite balanced. But why were the ships of the People's navy approaching so cautiously....

Strength's Squadron: 8 Sultan BCs

"Defender group is moving to pursue us Sir. CIC identifies them as a battlecruiser squadron." The flag bridge's holoplot updated with the impeller signatures of the Wick battlecruisers.
"Bring our accel up to 438 Gs, any targets nearby?"
".....a single mining craft, range: seven million klicks."
"Engage it."

A single missile leapt from the bow tube of the lead battlecruiser, accelerating toward the target. It accelerated madly toward the hapless mining craft, then veering off to detonate at a safe range away from it.

"Adjust our heading, bring us down 15 degrees." The battlecruiser squadron dipped back down toward the ecliptic.
---
"Defender battle group is moving to intercept us Admiral."
"Bring us into wall formation, load tubes. Begin deploying EW drones."
The massive dreadnoughts and battleships lazily shifted positions, manuevering carefully into the wall of battle. The more nimble escort warships assumed a screen around it, ready to defend against incoming missiles.

Commodore Strengths BC squadron accelerated toward the 'Aggressors" path of travel, their course would allow for quite a missile duel, as he did not want his older Sultan's and the even older pair of Lion class Battle Cruiser to get too close to no less then six of the brand new Imperious BC.

"Increase accel to 510 BC" Strength commented, no reason not to enjoy what ever advantages they had over the People's navy.
----

The Main group of WIckian Ships formed into a "Wall" of Battle that would maximize their missile broadside with the screening units fanning out into a screen. It would seem that this battle would be a slugging fest of multiple broadsides.

However the WIckian had no less then four Super Dreadnaughts within their wall of battle each of these ships was just over 4 km in length and had roughly 30% more firepower then any dreadnaught, not to mention had much more in the way of Armor."

'increase speed to 400G's if you will" Covington order then in her soprano voice she continued," Cannon to the right of them,
Cannon to the left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell....
Remember, fight with courage and skill, Mors Ante Infamia!"

With that the bridge crew went about their tasks.

"Range to enemy battlecruisers, five million klicks."
"That'll do, begin deceleration."
The six battlecruisers rotated about their short axis, presenting their sterns to the oncoming BCs. The move would slow their their pass by, and increase their engagement time with the Wick battlecruisers.
"Stern tubes, fire."
Thirty missiles shot from the tubes of the battlecruisers.
---
"Present broadsides to the enemy fleet, fire as you bear, and signal the Sultans, I want them to detach from the fleet and try and flank the opposing escorts."
The twelve nimble battlecruisers climbed up and away from the main wall, even as the mammoth dreadnoughts and slightly smaller battleships ponderously rotated, and 732 impeller missiles flashed from their tubes, accelerating wildly toward the enemy.
