At last (after about 2 years of promising) a simple stats page for my military is complete. Any comments welcome. I’ll update this with information on other branches of the military as I write them.
Nation – The Republic of Googlewoop
Government – Democratic Republic
Military/Diplomatic Stance – Reasonably peaceful, patriotic, can be provoked
Population – Roughly 2 Billion
Military - 2.5% (50 Million, all services)
REGULAR INFANTRY
Infantry are divided into Legions (1000), Centuries (100) and Patrols (10) commanded by a General, Centurion or Decurion. The standard rank is the Legionary.
Each patrol is divided into roles. Some of these roles are permanent and some may be replaced by regular infantry roles depending on the mission.
Every troop can use diving equipment, can survive in literally any terrain, has been extensively trained in air insertion techniques, has limited flying skills and has been personally equipped with the best gear there is and trained for around two years by the Googlewooper Government. It costs approximately Gg 1 million (Googles) to train a single trooper, such is the quality of the men turned out from the military academy.
The following stats are arranged as follows
Infantry Type or role (Patrol roles taken by type)
Equipment
Short introduction
Standard Infantry (Decurion and 4 Legionaries)
1 FAMAS G2 Standard Assault Rifle, 1 Desert Eagle, Grenades, Binoculars, radio, rations, water, combat knife, ammunition etc. standard infantry kit.
Googlewooper standard infantry are the pride of the armed forces. The government equips each soldier with the best gear money can buy and each man is individually trained. Features the Googlewooper designed full waterproof combat suit (the usual infantry look), ‘marine’ style helmet, goggles, a slim, hard plastic combat pack molded to each individual’s back and boots and gloves. (Also waterproof, can be sealed to suit)
Field Medic (1 Legionary)
1 P-90 SMG, 1 Desert Eagle, same kit as infantry only lighter, carries extensive medical kit, stretcher can be attached to pack.
Medics are among the most hardened of the Googlewooper troops. They follow their assault troops into battle with the minimum of weaponry, ready to rush to the side of a wounded comrade regardless of enemy fire. Same kit as infantry, is also equipped to repair most parts of the infantry combat dress.
Field Sniper (1 Legionary)
1 FAMAS G2 Sniper Assault Rifle, 1 Desert Eagle, same kit as infantry, can be packed lighter so as to carry extra rations or water for other members of the patrol.
Googlewooper commanders have in the past successfully utilized the role of the field sniper. This rather unique unit is a master of stealth and extra camouflage and follows his comrades into battle picking off enemy troops from a distance or in the midst of battle.
Long Range Radio – Optional role, rarely used (1 Legionary)
1 P-90 SMG, 1 Desert Eagle, same kit as infantry, if carrying radio must be packed with limited ammunition, food or water.
The long range radio trooper has meant the difference between victory and defeat on many occasions. When an adequately staffed war room is in operation, these troops relay the best intelligence imaginable to off field commanders.
Heavy Suppression – optional, used often (1 Legionary)
1 Heavy Machine Gun (being refitted with newer weapon), 1 Desert Eagle, same kit as infantry, carries a lot more ammunition.
Armies have always valued a trooper equipped to supply a constant rate of heavy enemy suppression fire from within the main ranks. This role is taken to the extreme with the extremely strong, extremely well armed Heavy Suppression trooper.
Heavy Firepower – optional, use heavily dependent on mission (1 Legionary)
1 Shoulder Mounted Rocket Launcher (Specific weapon not released, guided and unguided capability), 1 Desert Eagle, regular rations etc. must be carried by another patrol member, all space taken up with rounds for primary weapon.
The Heavy Firepower trooper has been utilized in extreme combat situations where the use of rocket armed infantry has been devastating in synchronization with other infantry roles.
SPECIAL FORCES
The infantry's Special Forces divisions are simply known as Commandos and are not part of a regular infantry battalion. They are grouped in specifically named Commando Battalions, subsequent Centuries and Patrols.
Commando (all troops from a patrol)
Can use any weapon available to the Googlewooper military. Regular armament is as follows – 1 FAMAS G2 Assault Rifle with Grenade Launcher, 1 MP-5K SMG, infantry kit eyc.
The commandos are the elite of the elite. Only the best troops, probably those suitable for many different combat roles and with plenty of experience are put to the infantry Special Forces training period.
Specific commando battalions (not to be named here) are specially trained for the revered ‘Dark Trooper’ role. These troops can be equipped and dropped into any part of the globe and can and have been known to hold positions in the middle of enemy territory for weeks at a time before reinforcements arrive.
Limited information is to be released but standard ‘Dark Trooper’ armament is as follows – 1 FAMAS G2 Special Assault Rifle, 1 P-90 SMG, 1 Assault Shotgun, regular infantry kit, fitted with to many gadgets to name, extreme, specially formulated rations, huge amounts of explosives, grenades of different capabilities etc. (regular Rambos)
