BREAKING NEWS:

Fifteen simultaneous, nationwide explosions shook Eredron less than four hours ago this afternoon, killing an estimated fifty thousand and wounding countless more as millions were celebrating Eredron's population milestone of one billion. The explosions occurred in Eredro, Danfalls, Dellesburg and a dozen other major cities, in an apparently coordinated terror strike against Eredron.

The first reported bomb explosion occurred at approximately 3:30 in the Danfalls District Federal Administrative Center, followed within seconds by an explosion in the Judicial Offices in the capital. The ten-story Judicial Office was completely leveled, the blast radius spreading throughout the entire city block, which included the Senate Chamber. News of the first explosion at Danfalls had barely been received by national law enforcement before a fifth explosion had occurred at a federal agency building in Juthro.

It was several minutes before the entire series of bombings had been reported to the National Law Enforcement Agency, who was treating the bombing in Danfalls as an isolated event.

An immediate shutdown of all air and ground traffic was ordered once the full scale and nature of the attacks was known by the NLEA as hundreds of thousands were evacuated from downtown districts across the nation. Due to a misinterpretation of monitored phone conversations, military fighter jets were deployed over Eredro, for fear of another terrorist strike akin to the 9/11 airliner attacks carried out against the United States almost a decade ago. Senator Hill, out of the country at the time of the attacks, was picked up by a military helicopter from the Noblesse yacht, and taken to an undisclosed location, according to an unnamed official; the presence of the second-in-command, Senator Keyes, is unknown at this time.

The Reserves was called up to help assist in evacuating civilians from the bomb sites, and facilitate the search and rescue by local emergency response teams.

According to an official count released thirty minutes ago, two thousand thousand have been confirmed dead, six thousand wounded, with the search less than an hour old. All points of entry and departure have been sealed, according to the NLEA, and checkpoints have been established at major highways, subways, and train stations.

No organization, foreign or domestic, has claimed responsibility for the attacks, although one Intelligence officer suggests Ariin Separatists may be behind the bombings.

"In the past months, there has been an increased amount of chatter between Ariin Separatist groups, and several references to 'the Quake', clearly code for today's attacks. These Separatist groups have used violence before, and were already in a situation to set up and place explosives in the country."

The Intelligence officer conceded that the attack was far beyond anything previously attempted by the Ariin Separatists, and agreed that the groups would have needed foreign assistance.

Greetings to you and our condolences for your horrific loss. In a series of information-gathering exercises conducted after rooting out a clan of terrorists from its own territory, The Dominion of LeberMac may have information on a worldwide net of terrorists that will be of use to Eredron.

The name of this terrorist entity is as-yet unknown. It has spawned terrorist bombings in the nation of Nilt and was attempting to establish a foothold on outlying islands of the Dominion of LeberMac. With help from others, this terrorist threat has been subdued for now, but like most decentralized organizations, it will most likely rear its head elsewhere.

Unlike most terrorist organizations, this one seems bent not on its own agenda, but on assisting and furthering terrorist causes worldwide. Our grasp of this new entity is tenuous at best, but one reference to the word "Quake" was found in documents salvaged from a captured terrorist recon team. In the terrorist base camp soil samples our teams detected the presence of hexahydro-l,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX); a powerful high-explosive compound. This indicates that the base we destroyed was being used as a distribution point, the quantities of RDX that moved through the base must have been substantial.

It would seem there is a possible connection. Your intel indicates external assisance to the suspected Ariin separatists, our intel on this shadowy group and the captured documents indicates a stronger chance of a link, and if the presence of RDX is also found at your attack sites, Dominion intel experts put the probability at 92% that it was indeed this subsersive organization that assisted the Ariin separatists. If you find traces of RDX, we will dispatch one of our advanced special operations groups (a 12-man team of 3 squads) to assist you in locating these terrorists and their contacts to what we are calling the terrorist underground. Our forces are discreet and very capable, operating away from civilian awareness yet under general orders from the highest levels of your government.

Five hours after the first attack

With smoke still rising and teams slowly searching the still-burning remains, Senator Hill arrived on the CV-77 aircraft carrier Claymore, two hundred miles west of Eredron. The carrier group was at battle stations, with dozens of F-22Es in the sky, their engines glowing brightly in the night.

Having donned a naval aviator uniform, Hill was hurried off the deck by the swarm of agents around him and led to the command center.

"What's our situation?" Hill asked as he took a seat in the brightly lit room.

"We've got a clear link with Military Command, the Executive Manor...National Law Enforcement and most other agencies are online. We should have a link-up with the media coverage in about..thirty seconds," the Senator's attache said.

"What do we know so far?"

"Damage would indicate that explosives were rigged around strategic structural points on six of the fifteen buildings. Explosives could have been delivered to the other nine through any number of ways, although most probable is vehicle delivery. The explosive itself hasn't been determined yet, but indications point at C4." The Senator's right hand man pointed at a map of Eredron, with the bomb sites circled in red.

"The targets appear to be random, although we've found a number of possible correlations, all of which could be coincidence, or directly related. Each has a major airport nearby; each had very public, very large celebrations planned in the area."

The men in the room turned their attention to a series of photographs and videos showing the smoldering ruins and destruction caused by the attacks, the grisly scenes muting all conversation.

Seventeen hours after the first attack: ~9:00 the following morning

On millions of televisions across the nation, and across the world, programs were interrupted as news stations scrambled to switch to the live feed coming from the Eredron Government. Notified less than ten minutes ago of the broadcast, anchormen were coolly but hurriedly announcing the live speech to be delivered by Senator Hill.

"Security around the senator has been at an extreme high since the attacks," anchormen Bob Wood was saying. "It is believed he has just now arrived back at Eredron - some sources have reported that the senator was taken from his yacht directly to a naval force in the Atlantic, but again, there has been no official comment and the whereabouts of many top officials remain secret. The senator will be delivering his statement from the Kel'los Isle, at the Grand Palace, former capital of the Kel'los Duchy and...here he is." A picture-in-picture formed, showing the senator walking into a large study. "As I've said before, this speech was not announced but a few minutes ago: the senator's security was very intent on keeping his location a secret." The anchorman disappeared as the senator's image took over the television screen.

" - my fellow Eredronians, in the past twenty four hours, we have witnessed unprecedented events; as a husband and a father, I grieve for the loss of cherished loved ones. We have seen horrible tragedy and terrible destruction." The senator paused, looking down at his notes, before his gaze met the cameras.

"At latest count, approximately thirty thousand are confirmed dead, forty thousand injured. Brave rescue workers have striven without rest, without stop, to recover loved ones, and we are doing everything necessary to prevent cowards from ever striking Eredron like this again.

"Already I have received countless offers of support and condolensces, public and private, from nations across the world. For this, I am grateful. Even as this cowardly act has brought out the true resolve and determination of the Eredron people, so has it brought out the best in our friends and allies around the world. Already, we are collaborating with intelligence agencies around the world to root out those responsibility, and bring them to justice.

"Tonight, the world joins us in grieving for those lost, for those touched by this devastation. Tomorrow, the world will join us in eliminating those individuals and organizations that seek to gain power through such acts of terror. My fellow Eredronians, yesterday your government failed you, and because of this failure, our sons and daughters, our husbands and wives, our dearest friends, have been taken from us. Tonight I make a solemn pledge; your government will not fail you again; your government will not stand idle while criminals plot to kill and destroy."

Already indebted to LeberMac for it's support and services in rescuing and recovering the bodies of those trapped in the rubble of ruin caused by last week's terror attacks, I am nevertheless asking for further aid. Initial and final analysis has detected traces of the RDX compound, as suspected by your government. All related information is being relayed to your intelligence agencies, in hopes of aiding you in your hunt.

We have seen the footage of this terrible incident. We have witnessed the murder of these thousands of citizens. There is no excuse or reason for the slaying of innocent civilians, as seen. Though we are not your official ally, we will accept nothing but hellish retribution for those responsible. North Germania has officially pledged its total & complete military and humanitarian support for the suffering nation of Eredron. We will not rest until we succeed.

We have organized an initial team of 500 soldiers from the Rescue Korps of the Reichswehr of North Germania, for search and rescue purposes. A total of $1 billion for use in humanitarian aid has been wired to your bank accounts.

If you accept, we have activated a team of 1,500 Schultzpolizei soldiers for urban patrol and the prevention of another attack. These troops will be used at your disposal.

Large elements of the North Germanian Intelligence Korps are prepared to assist in the identification of those responsible for the attack.

Pacific Northwesteria would like to offer its most sincere condolences for your nation's loss. We will supply you with whatever humanitarian aid you need, although the recent gift to you of $1B from (i forget who) should cover most of it. We will also help you rebuild... that would NOT be covered... and we are currently in the process of tracking down the animals who did this to your country. (see above thread). If there is anything else you need, or you have any information for Pacific Northwesteria or LeberMac, don't hesitate to post or TG.

The attacks carried out five months ago have left deep scars...scars that will not fade for many years. Unfortunately for global terrorism, the Eredron people have rallied around their country. Across the world, we are combatting terrorism.

Since the April 9th attacks, over thirteen billion Marks have been delivered to various groups, organizations and foreign governments for the purpose of eradicating the plague of terror from the world. Across the world, the military forces and intelligence services of Eredron have actively hunted and destroyed terrorist cells. In the past five months, over a dozen top leaders and organizers of terror have been captured or otherwise neutralized.

But we can do more. And we will. Eredron is continuing her war on terror. Even now, naval forces are entering into the Arabian Sea as a response to reports of active terror cells in Somalia.

The people of Eredron understand the risks are high, but we also understand the need is greater. Terrorism shall and must be eliminated; those who offer support, refuge and aid to terrorist organizations have been warned. Those who continue will meet the military might of Eredron.

On this, there can be no compromise, only absolute victory for the Republic.
