The freedom of people is being threatened by communist nations. Communist nations are defeating freedom-loving nations for one reason: unity.

I am calling on all nations who love freedom to join with me in creating the Global Freedom Alliance Initiative, referred to here as the GFAI. We would unify against communist nations, but not attack until our militaries are built up. Only then will we be able to defeat this monster that attacks our freedoms.

I am warning you for the last time. Stand down with your threats or I will take your nation by force, sell it, then use the money to fund Communist nations economies.

I would like to point out something to all. MOST of the Communist Nations on NS never start wars. If you were to read EVERY post in International Incidents. I would geuss that 70% of all Communist vs. Capitalist wars are started by capitalist. Not just capitalist but the others. I wont go to war unless I fill threatened. Grassroots has declaired war on me with Mongus and now Mongus is being torn up by civil war and CL has a nice strip of beach front land in Mongus to make sure that they know not to start things without studying the enemy. Anyways, I just wanted to point out thats its always a so called "democratic" nation that starts wars with a communist nation just b/c their communist. Chances are these same people dont even know the last paragraph of The Communist Manifesto.

For some unknown reason he thinks of ONLY the USSR and China and North Korea. None of these are communist. They are all were and are dictatorships and Socialist Dicatorships.

A war against nations which hold socialistic/communistic values is absurb. The nation of Neo-Soviet Russia is a peaceful one that has done nothing to bring about war. The is true for a number of other socialist/communist nations. And you've no room to speak of freedom when the rights of your own citizens are less then average.

You wish to start another round of hosilities, another 'cold war'. Is it not apparent that something such as this is foolish? You preach that communist nations threaten the livelihood of 'free nations'. 'Free nations' that wish to push their values on nations unlike them. If Grassroots trully wishes to protect 'freedom-loving nations', unite with breathern of all governments, of all economies, and root out the bad weeds. We, the people of Blargistania condemn the actions of both Grassroots and Communist Luisiana. While truly socialist in spirit, we cannot aid our communist brothers in this endevor because what we see is an agressive act, an act which in the past has given the communists and socialists a bad name. We would warn grassroots not to take further actions or declarations against communist and socalistic nations, but we would also ask that Communist Louisiana step down and halt all attacks. We will give you one final chance to stop trying to start conflicts with Communist nations. Sign our treaty that our congress has drafted and we will pull all forces from your waters. The treaty states only a few things:
1. You will apologize for your actions.
2. You will stop all future aggressions with socialist/communist nations unless if you are attacked by them.(Being that you were not being agressive with such nations take for example of you, mongus, and I.)
3. You will stop mobilization of your troops in Mongus

We can change some of these to better suit your needs and mine. Number two will not be changed unless if I see need fit to.. If you do agree to these terms, we will send our army engineers to help rebuild your naval yards loss. If you take one single military action towards Communist Louisiana or her allies anytime within the signing of this we will not hesitate to launch more than 500 cruise missiles at utilities within your country. That would include power plants, military instilations, and your capital.

With the thread provided by Communist Louisiana, it is seen that Grassroots first declared war, without providing ample reason. For this infrignment and obvious disregard of the people's choice, we, the Utopic Proletarian Republic of Blargistania issue a decree in support of Communist Louisiana. Military action will be incured should Grassroots find the audacity to attack and nation affiliated with Blargistania or Communist Louisiana. Grassroots is fool enough not to stand down. He is also fool enough to threaten, and possibly even use, nuclear weaponry. Our Intelligence service (National Security Bureau) suggest that Grassroots is being supplied by an unknown third party, given their own inability to manufacture such advanced and highly dangerous systems. NSB's evaluation concludes that "eliminaytion of Grassroots, before the said nation has the opportunity to deliver a WMD attack, is vital. Their aggressiveness on previous occasions suggest that they would be willing to employ WMD."

We support you fully in your attack upon Grassroots. We will be launching an offensive some time in the next 36 hours if the situation does not drastically improve. Meantime, with your blessing, we will assign forces to provide security to your rear areas, to stop such attempted guerrilla tactics from succeeding.

Brent Raliegh checked into the Grassroots International Airport. He walked off the plane and went down through the corridor, upon retrieving his baggage, he stopped by customs, checking his entry into the nation.

The attendent was nice looking, not overly beautiful, but definatly not offensive to the senses.

Brent walked off and smiled to himself. He was one of the roughly 30 or so agents that had been inserted in similar manners into Grassroots. Their targets had been laid out for them and they had been given 72 hours to complete the job. Brent picked up his rental car and dove off to the hotel where he was to meet with his other team members. They were first to scope out the target, then to destroy it by any means possible. Brent set his watch, 72 hours from now, he was planning to be on a plane towards some well-earned vacation after this was all over.

Grassroots, what the hell do you think you are doing? You invade nations who did not attack you, openly build up your arms, openly say you will go to war, threaten to use nuclear weapons, devote every single resource your nations has to fight a war you cannot win, and then when Louisiana defends itself, you call them aggressors. Louisiana offered you peace, you rejected it, then Loiusiana attacked you, but agreed to rebuild your Naval Yards in exchange for peace agreements, again you refuse. Then, you switch threads, and continue to wage war, you lose, then you say that you will return with another army, threaten to make nuclear weapons to use against Lousiana, and finallythreaten to wage an economic war. Who is the war monger? you are, your acts display similar elements to the very institutions that you fight, which should be Stalinism, not communism in general. Think about it, trying to force other nations to develop your own ideals, causing discord in all those associated with you, propoganda, it's all there, the only difference is your economic system. "Two minutes until launch of aircraft, Comrade Captain," reported the XO. "All aircraft report fuelled, armed and ready."
"Very good. ASW reports?"
"None, sir."
"Good. Bring his bow into the wind."
"Aye sir." The XO gave a few quick orders to the helmsman, and the Ulyanov[i] swung his ski-ramped nose to bearing 347. Captain Rauthmann (for DPUO had a somewhat bizarre mix of ethicities) watched as the ship's blunt bow centred on the new heading. The bridge was quiet, with only the humming of instruments and the constant, slight throb of the nuclear plant to disturb the peace; such a contrast with outside, where the shrill screech of the Su-33s' jets was enough to deafen a man after more than a few minutes. He looked out at the dark waters that surrounded his ship, and at the occasinal blinking of lights from the escorts. Radio silence had been a condition of thr orders. Behind his carrier, protected by the laager of frigates and destroyers, sat Aist and Lebed ACVs with BMD-3s and Naval Infantry; in the centre were four Ivan Rogov LSTs. Their load was the invaluable supporting armour, a battalion of T-72Bs, and soft-skinned trucks filled with ammunition for the infantry and pillow tanks of diesel needed to keep the wheels of war turning, along with mobile water purification systems, field hospitals, tents, and the various handred-and-one paraphenalia of an invasion.

None of which was of concern tonight, Rauthmann thought. His job was simply to wait here, to launch the planes and then be there when they came back. For that he was glad.

"22:45. Commence aircraft launch."
"Aye, sir."

Blue 1, an Su-33 Flanker class multi-role jet, began her short roll down the Carrier's length. Upon reaching the end, the plane staggered into the air with a full fuel and ammo load, including AS-12 and AS-17 ARMs. One by one, the 24 Flankers struggled off the Carrier and formed up; then they turned, dived and began their first foray in Grassroots, seeking out SAM systems and AAA that might endanger the next mission.

Alexei Zhukin looked apprehensively at the flashing RWR light on his instrument panel. It wasn't flashing much, but ever time it did he sweated a little more. The Flanker was agile, but her missiles weighed her down, and right now she handled like a pig. His Hoffman indicator told him that the SAM radar, probably an ancient one, was off somewhere to the North. He checked his map, and realised that this was in fact one of their targets. Shit. As though on cue, the regiment leader came in on his headset.

"Alright boys, our target is approximately forty-two miles to our North, bearing three-five-seven. Stay sharp. Four flight, six flight, stay back and provide cover; two and three flights, you're the second wave. The rest of you, form up line abreast. We're going oin. Light your jammers only if you get a lock-up tone."

Zhukin pulled his Su-33 into a shallow banking turn, then levelled off. He watched the RWR light as it flahsed faster and faster. The Hoffman indicator line telling him where the radar was got brighter. Then it vanished altogether. The SAM radar had instead begun to track 1 Flight, since they had popped up to launch their ARMs. Zhukin watched as eight AS-12s left the wing hardpoints of the Flankers in front of him with bright spouts of flame, then were swiftly lost in darkness. The Flankers dropped low again, one of them spitting chaff. A flare screeched silently by in the night; but Zhukin's attention was grabbed by a series of heavy detonations off in front. He grinned for a second; 1st Flight had done their job with ease. Maybe the defences weren't so bad...but then his Hoffman went insane as every SAM radar seemed to light off at once.

Rauthmann watched the coastline just visible from his bridge, his eyes occasionally drifting back to the clock. The aircraft were due back. The bridge was silent. None of the crewmen, many of whom were friends of the pilots, wanted to say anything.
"Contact! Captain, Radar, new contact bearing three-four-nine, IFF ID's as a friendly. It's one of ours!" the radar operator bubbled.
"Very well. Track the target. Any more?"
"Yes sir! More behind him. I count twelve...no, thirteen...fourteen..."
By the time the count was finished, the radar operatoir had counted some twenty aircraft coming back. The Captain merely stood watching as the Flankers touched down on the gently rolling deck of the [i]Ulyanov, and wondered what would come next.

Four aircraft lost. One (Blue 3, pilot G. Romanov) due to mechanical failure, cause unknown. Two destroyed by SA fire, one (Blue 17 pilot V. Andrews) from SAM + one (Blue 8, pilot A. Zhukin) from AAA. Fourth (Blue 10, pilot M. Ishermann) destroyed by enemy aircraft. Said arcraft was destroyed by R-27 AAM from Blue 8, launched before impact of enemy missile on Zhukin's aircraft. recommend posthumous decoration (Order of the Red Banner) for all named personnel.

Jamming systems effective. ARMs highly effective. Enemy SAM systems apparently unable to track our aircraft when our aircraft flying nap-of-the-earth. Enemy AAA not as capable as our own. Enemy command and control seemed lacking.

"What's it say?" asked Rauthmann tiredly. He'd been awake the last twenty hours, and it was showing.
"Message reads: "ZVEZDA, ZVEZDA, ZVEZDA." Rauthmann's eyes shot wide open. The invasion signal! Could it be? He strode to the rear bridge. Sure enough, the Aists were moving North, towards the distant shoreline, along with their Ivan Rogov LSTs.
"Execute Zvezda," he ordered the Air Warfare coordinator.
"Yes sir!" came the enthusiastic reply.

The Su-33s, reloaded and refuelled, their crews rested, began the routine again. Less four aircraft, they left the carrier for another defence-suppression mision inland. Rauthmann watched as helicopters, Ka-29s, lumbered off the Kiev, their stub-wings heavy with rockets and missiles, then headed a few miles inland to deploy troops behind the defenders. The latter were rather surprised at having their quiet stretch of coastline suddenly being vigourously attacked, and though they resisted as best they could, they hadn't a hope of defeating the forces thrown at them. Within the hour, T-72Bs were offloading at the newly-established beachhead. The armour mated with their supporting infantry and IFVs, then moved to the defensive positions they had been assigned only the day before. Behind them, the SAM systems of destroyers and frigates watched for aircraft.

**Magna, The Grassroots**

The people are getting restless. They are talking of overthrowing Ms. Frank and Ms. Applebees. They are tired of the war.

Finally, a 16-year-old boy named John Honso decides he has had enough of the war. He marches into the Consul Building and holds Paris Frank and Melinda Applebees at gunpoint. Melinda surrenders instantly, but Paris holds on.

OCC: Where is this at? In Louisiana or in Grassroots. Ships are not in port yet in Grassroots. They are still a little less then a mile off the coast of grassroots. Good luck trying to get past the guards on the ships. You need to be more specific in your attacks. Also remember that mostly all naval ships are guarded by men on board with automatic weapons so you would some how have to find away to get past more than 25 men who would see you before you saw them b/c they are fitted with nightvision. Plus I do hope you know that on an Command Ship, the commanders cabins are normally below deck and have no windows. You wouldnt be able to get on the boats either really unless you have a latter and a really calm ocean. You would probably still be seen trying to get on and shot on the spot. Why dont you get some of your Anti-Commie 1969 friends to help you. B/c if they all are like this, its will be easy to fight them. They dont even help.

The two men heard little at first. Just a slight noise carriued on the wind. It swelled gradually, the sound of machine moving ponderously towards them, topped with...trumpets? They listened.

The column had set out that morning. Forty T-72B tanks, forty BMP-2 IFVs, twelve ZSU-23-4s and SA-13 launchers, all crammed onto the rough track in two columns, heading for the main road. Once they reached that, they would simply advance on the bridge to relieve the airborne forces. Child's play.

Another grenade blew up a few feet away. Yuri Korelenko swore and threw one back, then waved to his comrade across the street. The latter nodded and dived out of cover, opening fire with his AK-74SU on automatic. Another enemy down. There had originally been two Hinds and a pair of Hips: now this lone helicopter was their only air support. The wreckage of the other three was spread out around the bridge. The remnants of an M60A3 blazed on the opposite side, blown apart by an RPG-7VL whose user had sacrificed himself to achieve that kill. But he had saved them. The Grassroots men still hadn't been able to take the bridge, despite repeated assaults on their position, with infantry and tanks, and an M113. The M113 had paid for the attack with an RPG through its' side. Korelenko could smell the cooked flesh.

The Grassrooters stopped and whispered to the Commander, "This is ______ its population is about 10,000. Their are hundreds here who are furious about the complete lack of compassion of the government. They will happily start riots and a revolution here. IC: THe True Directorate has deemed Grassroots safe to enter. As such, the 12th Infantry Division and 45th Combat Engineers have been dispatched.

All units of the CL army move forward. We will not stop until we reach the northern border. Take every city on the way. We have special ops troops instigating(sp?) riots and rebellions against the government in every major large city. You should be accepted as the saints you are. If any protest from people, arrest them and send them to the CL held area. We have also built a make shift runway and we will be receiving the 3rd Army Building Unit soon. They will build a better runway and build a coupple of docks for our ships. Once this is complete we will let any of our allies in this conflict land and send back troops.

The Blargistanian 3rd army launched from their offshore transport ships, heading for the beach where allied forces were currently unloading. The small troops transports, each carrying about 30 troops numbered easily in the dozens. They sped towards the beach, light AA guns searching the skies for any sign of enemy aircraft, but none appeared. The transports landed hard on the beach and marines, regulars, and special forces piled out. they quickly set up an extended perimieter with the allied forces and fortified the region so armor and supplies could begin to land.

Over the course of the next 8 hours, 45,000 troops, 2500 main battle tanks, 1,000 mobile artillery pieces, and 4,000 light combat and infantry transport craft landed, augmenting the already burgening allied forces upon the beach. The Blargistanian military leaders, under General Andropev began to establish supply lines, drop points, and fall back points as they moved forward towards the nearest cities of Grassroots.

The net was closing. 1st Naval Infantry Division ground towards the capital, a long column led by the clanking, hulking shapes of the T-72B tanks and the BMP-2 IFVs. They advanced along the open plains, with occasional losses, heading for the final battle.

Socialism: Socialism is usually associated with Democracy type Governments. In Socialism the people want the government to control businesses and economic related issues so that social-equality is better then a completely Democratic nation. Socialism is also elected officials which is probably the most important thing to point out, that the people choose the leaders and that the people are generally free to do what they wish when it comes to personal life.

Capitalism: A sub-style of government associated to the economy of most Democratic nations. At the battered docks of a Grassroots city ships baring the True Directorate flag began to pull into the harbour. What I was referring to as a back door was really your standard MyDoom type virus that lets someone take control of your computer. Soldiers from the X corps of Blargistania watched from a short distance offshore of Grassroots as the missiles flew over Grassroots space. They watched the huge streaks scorched over the forests and mountains, then disappear behind the ridges. Shortyl afterwords, they saw a flash of light and a mushroom cloud appeared just over the rides.

One of the soldiers said out loud "ouch, that had to hurt."

Even though we, Red Wales don't think nuclear weapons were the answer, we do understand the circumstances that Communist Louisiana was under. Not only was he defending his nation, but his allies including Hattia and I. The Grassroots has stated that it would use nuclear weapons and that it was begining to build weapons satellites to launch missiles. Communist Louisiana did what he felt he had to do. We can not surely condemn him for protecting his people and our own.

To re-iterate the point behind these strikes: whoever is in charge of The Grassroots now (since it seems reasonable to assume the Government no longer exists) now has 2 RL days (from when they see this mesage) to surrender totally and unconditionally, or more attacks will follow, using both nuclear and/or chemical munitions, as well as conventional forces, where deemed appropriate. The deaths of the innocent civilians killed in these nuclear attacks are regrettable and unfortunate. However, they did nothing, save one token effort, to even attempt to make their Government cease this war of aggression; now they are suffering the results of their apathy.

Comrades, over the last few days, we have seen great tragedy, in a nation far from home, called Grassroots. An insane government planned a war against state-socialist nations and was attacked via nuclear assault, by a member of our Alliance, the Allied States of EuroIslanders. We do not condone such action but nor do we condemn it. The stated goals of the ASE, as the largest left wing alliance in the NationStates world are such that we must bring peace - and the removal of this government of Grassroots is paramount.

If the government will not surrender, following the devastation of it's own nation, then we cannot expect less than a coalition to remove that government from power, as Soviet Russia removed the Nazi Heirarchy from power. Thus, we throw our support behind the efforts of Communist Louisiana and Don't Piss Us Off and urge them to seize Grassroots, but to take into consideration that the working class of that nation are our allies, whether Grassroots government declares it or not, because we will free them from the chains of capitalism.

We can do more than wish CL and DPUO good luck in this endeavour.

We are maintaining a Delta-IV SSBN (Gliere) offshore, with a Victor-III SSN assigned to her protection. We also have Tu-160 strategic bombers ready to attack The Grassroots from Narodgorod airbase (OOC: anyone with knowledge of Russian correct any grammar cockup :)). The Grassroots will be under intense surveillance. We recommend to Communist Louisiana that a joint delegation of personnel from the Communist nations most involved in this war be set up to monitor The Grassroots. Since the latter is in no position to refuse, I think we can be sure of acquiescance.
