I read this topic and actually said LOL out loud..

In response to the recent surge in buying of television (and mainly news) channels by nations, the semi-government-controlled Turvic Industries has acquired ITN news for an undisclosed sum rumoured to be around $1.5b - stock will not be sold to other countries/companies.

Turvic Industries CEO Sarah Turnovic said "this purchase will allow international news specifically important to Kelonia be beamed directly into our people's homes - and allow us to stir up a little nationalistic pride, too, as well as shifting a few more units of my products - it is a good move for us all."

OOC: I don't know what the sudden surge in buying TV channels is, but I thought I might as well hop on the bandwagon. I think it's sheer boredom.

Oh, and check your telegrams. I was actually wrong, HBO isn't owned by Turner Broadcasting. However, CNN, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, the Superstation, TNT, Turner South, and Boomerang are, so no one can claim those.

And one more thing! You as a nation can't buy a corporation like that. You can influence them to place a HQ in your country with money, or you can have one of your government-owned corporations buy them. But you, as a national government, can not directly buy a corporation.))
