GAZA CITY, PALESTINE - In the early hours of April 6, the shortwave and local radio station named "Voice of Palestine, Gaza City" went off the air after shots were coming from the city, according to local reports. The station came back on the air, some four hours later, it simply broadcasted a single patriotic song over and over again only interrupted by a short message stating "Stay indoors, citizens of Gaza. Do not come out."

Both the Palestinian television stations, broadcasted for the local population, has also not been monitored for several hours. The main Palestinian TV channel, being beamed in from the West Bank, is still on the air, however, with its regular programming.

We spoke to several citizens coming to Gaza City from Rafah have reported that Hamas and Islamic Jihad militiamen have taken to the streets and that both the Palestinian Authority policemen and the army have fled the city. When we visited Khan Younis, just north of Rafah, tanks and other armored vehicles were seen on the streets, and several thousand Republican Guard troops were setting up roadblocks and preparing for a fight, it would seem. A checkpoint just outside of Khan Younis refused to let us proceed to Rafah stating "security reasons" and turned us around.

Calls to the Information Ministry and the local Palestinian government building in Gaza City were not responded too.

By satellite, a transmission appeared in the Palestinian Prime Minister's office. Trying to get contact with the troubled nation, it seemed like nobody would answer the transmission that was being sent. After the fourth attempt, however, there was an instant connection between the two countries. Right after connection was made, President Vlasak rushed toward the flotating monitor, where he instantly began to speak to the taumatized nation.

"A UN delegate has given us word of trouble within your borders. Is there any way we could help?"

(OOC) I didn't know where you wanted to go with the story line, so I made it short and sweet.

al-Jazeera Television

A reporter in Khan Younis. AK-47 fire, RPG fire, and tank fire can be heard in the background.

"As you can hear, there is a heavy battle in the streets of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. We have received information that the attackers are Hamas, some units of Hizbollah, and Islamic Jihad militiamen."

"The fighting is spreading throughout the city as cells within the city itself come out of hiding and attack Palestinian soldiers from behind. Fighting has localized around the centre of the city, where the majority of the government buildings are located. Other areas that are being protected are the Palestinian broadcasting building, housing the two television stations in the Gaza Strip."

"We have yet to see any fighters from Hamas or Hizbullah or Islamic Jihad, but we can see the flashes of gunfire in the distan---" suddenly, there is a massive explosion just a few hundred feet away, behind a few buildings. The cameraman turns the camera towards the explosion, where a huge plum of smoke is seen rising from a building. Heavy gunfire breaks out in the area.

"We have been hearing explosions all day, but this is the biggest one. We will be back in a few minutes."

OOC: For those that don't know - the Palestinian Authority is made up of the West Bank and Gaza Strip and is led by President Yasser Arafat. It was given independence by Israel (controlled by Fluffywuffy) and is defended by troops from al-Anbar. All equipment used by the PA is supplied by Al Anbar. Israel settlers have been moved out of all PA areas and have been moved back to Israel.

The Internal Security Directorate men were swarthy- the ethnic bohemian minority had a lot of guys with a lot of time in the tanning booths in Kilean's intelligence agency- and were dressed in the usual shabby clothes of west bank residents.

The only thing that made them stand out was their aim.

All around the west bank- from ramallah to bethlehem- Internal Security Directorate teams, some working on Mossad information- attack and attempt to kill local Hamas, Hizbullah, and Islamic Jihad commanders, apparently in an attempt to thwart the short-term plans of the Islamic militants.
