Moments ago, the elite 151st Legion of Terror moved down out of their hidden outposts in the Magnetic Mountains and began their long anticipated assault northward on the Dominion of Kumanaptra. Red and Gold clad Mon-go soldiers with heavy ray-guns stormed across the borders, flanked by armoured rocket tanks. This invasion comes after escalating tensions in the region.

Days ago, by order of Emperor Ming, the Rocket Railways into Kumanaptra were closed off in response to the recent “Devaluation” of the Ming dollar in that land. The flow of much needed beer and snacks had been cut off by rail, seriously crippling the morale of the Dominion troops.

Shortly after the beer and snack food blockade, the fastest rockets in the Imperial Air Brigade began dropping educational pamphlets over the dominion, along with thousands of Ming dollars. This was done for the information of the people under the oppressive domination of a mad Pharaoh.

General Klytus, head of the Imperial Secret Police announced that it was also believed that The Dominion of Kumanaptra was hiding “Weapons of mass destruction”, and that the dominion leaders “continually hindered the progress of the Mon-go weapons inspectors”.

“Those that are not loyal to the Emperor must be punished.” Continued General Klytus, “The government of Mon-go prizes nothing more highly. These rebels to the north will be dealt with in the usual manner…and after the new puppet leaders are installed we will have peace. HAIL MING!”

This is Zaxxon Strebor reporting for IMNN. I’m embedded with the 151st Legion of Terror near the frontline of the Dominion of Kumanaptra. At 29:00 Mingo Mean Time (MMT), we witnessed an armada of Imperial Rocket Bombers as they passed overhead and into Kamunatra air space. The Dominion of Kumanatra put up stiff resistance against the fleet but was soon swept aside by superior firepower. Then the great battle rockets began their ray-bomb runs. The ground shook and multiple columns of black smoke streaked the skies above the capitol.

Early intelligence from the front reports heavy damage to structures near the border, and several buildings believed to manufacture or house “weapons of mass destruction”. It was the belief that Kumanaptra had been developing weapons of mass destruction that partially prompted the invasion of Mon-go’s neighbouring dominion.

Mon-go forces were hindered briefly on the outskirts of the city by undamaged lightning field generators. After the fields were taken down, the 151st Legion of Terror were met with opposition at the borders of the Dominion of Kumanatra. Ray Guns screamed reports of destruction as Mon-go’s elite troopers dealt death to those who oppose the will of His Supreme Intelligence, Ming the Merciless.

We’ve dug in at the front gates of the capital city to wait it out until first light. The sounds of Ray Gun fire still fills the air here as the locals try to resist the hordes of Ming. But citizens of Mon-go take heart, our soldiers will kill, burn, and battle their way to victory in the name of this imperial majesty Ming the Merciless. "The Mon-golian forces are falling to us dozens at a time. They have been cleansed with electrostimulation, a painful but effective method of washing away their sins against our Gods and State. We have then put these infidels to work shovelling radium into our atom furnaces. This is their punishment for defiling our pure and holy ground with their impure, heretic presence.

"We are determined to defeat and destroy any attack on the outskirts of our capital. We shall spill the aggressors' blood and use it to paint the walls with a message.

No, there isn't a list, but there is a loose guide to development which determines whether you are capable of certain things. Basically, if you have less than 100 million citizens, then your nation is too new and probably economically too weak to be able to look into building nukes. What's more, a lot of the older nations get really frustrated with new nations boasting that they have nukes and are willing to use them on anyone they disagree with over the stupidest thing, and so any nation younger than 100 million is in danger of invasion just by looking into nukes, because some nations are willing to invade you to spare the trouble of having to do it later. It's best to wait til your nation grows up, then for the most part nations will accept you and even welcome you as another nation who frowns on new nations running round yelling "I've got nukes! do what i say!!!!". Other than that, you can do most anything.....

Remember that generally, 1 RL day = 1 NS year, and think to yourself "Would a nation that was formed from practically nothing XXX years ago really be able to do this?" if you are concerned about what you can and can't do.....

But couldn't a smaller country with an economy of powerhouse abd uranium be able to have nukes? And if it has 30+ million people. This is Zaxxon Strebor reporting for IMNN. I’m embedded with the 151st Legion of Terror near the frontline of the Dominion of Kumanaptra…The top Mongo general here said Imperial forces were making strides in crushing the militia of evil Pharaoh Andoru throughout Kumanaptra and retaking the largely hawk man sky city.

But Mongo combat deaths have mounted -- with sixteen more confirmed legion members dying over the past 32 hours, the legion said.

"We will not let a small group of criminals and thugs control the destiny of this empire," Legion Lt. Gen. Zandar told this reporter.

Not long after he spoke, two ray bombs fell into the Green Zone, the headquarters of the 151st Legion of Terror in Kumanaptra.

Meanwhile, Kumanaptran insurgents added a new tactic: kidnapping civilians.

Among those abducted recently were seven missionaries from the Kingdom of Blue-Magic, who were later released. Five people from other regions of the empire were still being held, some under the threat of being burned alive if their abductors' demands were not met. It is also believed that captured 151st troops have been enslaved in the atom furnace rooms that fuel the flying city itself, but as of this report those stories have not be substantiated.

"Kumanaptra is attempting without success to sabotage Mongo and to subvert the word and law of the rightful ruler of the universe," said Zandar, noting that Imperial forces over the past several days have "inflicted some fairly heavy casualties."

Good evening. This week, my faithful and loyal subjects, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly attacks. The Empire of Mon-go has undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the far nortern Far Tropical Tundra.

The Dominion, MY Dominion of Kamunaptra was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Mon-Go, was still in conversation with the government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace.

The victims were secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The leftist media pigs of Mon-go have made every attempt to obfuscate the truth, to deny you, my manumission less throngs of simple minded followers, the obvious truth. Our great nation is under attack from heartless mass murderers who intended to frighten you into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; the people of the Kamunaptra have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

SKY CITY, Kumanaptra (IMNN) -- Mongo authorities are holding two former top officials in Pharaoh Andoru’s toppling regime they describe as "big catches."

Former intelligence official and ambassador Farouk was captured Thursday night and former Deputy Prime Minister Tariq turned himself in.

Correspondent Rym Syam is in Kumanaptra and discussed the developments with IMNN's Zaxxon Strebor…

STREBOR: Well, indeed this is quite a big catch for the Mongo military. Interestingly enough, however, Farouk was not on the list of 55 most-wanted Kamunaptran officials that was drafted by the Mongo military. Although Farouk may have a lot to tell his captors right now under the influence of the dreaded boreworms, he was suspected of having been behind the plots to assassinate Emperor Ming several years back. Well, if that's the case, he will have a lot of things to tell them again.

But he was also considered by some media reports -- and again, that hasn't been proven at all -- to have been the man sent over to Ardentia to establish links with traitors to the empire. Again, no proof of that --there are just media reports. But definitely this man, who was the third highest ranking in Pharaoh Andoru's security apparatus, definitely is quite a big catch.

Also, a big catch, of course, Tariq, the deputy prime minister of Kumanaptra. He was one of Pharaoh Andoru ‘s closest aides for years and years and years. They go way back to when they were students together, when they were members of the then-banned Tefnut Party.

We caught up with the family of Tariq. IMNN went to the house of Tariq and spoke to some relatives who said that Tariq decided to surrender. He surrendered at 11:00 Mingo Mean Time (MMT) yesterday. He was mainly concerned this would take place in a dignified manner. The day the war started Tariq came out to prove that he hadn't been killed or hadn't defected as there were a lot of rumors around ... and he said he had said prior to that he would die rather than surrendering to Emperor Ming’s forces.

Well, he has surrendered. Probably his calculation would have been that he would be safer in Mongo custody than in the hands of the Kumanaptrans at the time when of course, there's a lot of resentment now coming out toward the Kumanaptran regime. And it would also bring the certainty for many Kumanaptrans that the regime is definitely gone. But that's probably the only uncertainty there will be.

The situation in The Sky City is not stable. Just a few moments ago there was ray-gun fire just coming from the mosque in the background here. So definitely, it's still a city very much in movement right here. Back to you.

The country of Complacents is very saddened to hear about the the developments that have transpired between the two nations of Mon-go and Kamunaptra. It is our dearest hope that the warring nations put down their arms and follow the advice of our Co-Secretaries of Relations, Reginald Denney and Rodney King, who say, "Can't we all just get along???"

As current UN Delegate for The Far Tropical Tundra region, I must concur with the opinion espoused by my esteemed collegue from Complacents. We from the pacifistic (unless you REALLY piss us off) nation of Tosev 4 urgently request the cessation of all hostile actions in this region. Kumanaptra is guilty of many crimes against the Empire and the Emperor. They are a threat to any region they might be a part of as long as the current rebellious leadership is in power. Their crimes are as follows:

-Creating dangerous weapons of ‘Mass Destruction’
-Refusing to fly the flag of the Empire of Mongo
-Refusing to pay proper tribute to Ming the Merciless

For these crimes, the current leadership’s execution will be broadcast to all of Mongo. They have defiled us before our subjects and MUST be put to death.

It has been brought to my attention by the Minister of the Imperial Anti-Insurgent Espionage Unit that leaders of your region are requesting a cease-fire in order to pursue peace talks. Your delegate made mention of ‘peace on earth’.

Barbaric fools! There is no peace on your pitiful Earth. I have observed your world and its history long enough to know that you earthlings do nothing but squabble and fight over land rights and fossil fuels. I will not attend any peace talks. So much for my attempt at joining in the role-playing. Your role-playing has moved to a different scale than what you started with. With a country invading another country over the mountains, or even a distant planet sending an invading party to a specific country, I was interested and even willing to join in the role-playing. However, now that you've moved on to changing the orbital patterns of planets and using some kind of Death Star type weapon to destroy an entire planet, you've moved beyond my universe and beyond my interest. You two have fun. Let me know who wins.

HMmmm, i must say mon-go, though it is insanely impossible for an 18 million population nation to be space tech, you do, however, relay information quite well, to an extent. On 18 April, Ming of Mon-go, self-styled "the Merciless" and "emperor of the universe", along with his sycophants in Blue-Magic, invaded The Avalon (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_avalon), in defiance of all logic and common sense, and issued ludicrous demands backed by vague threats.

A bit of background, if you will:
The Avalon nations range in population from 1 billion to 2.85 billion. The largest, our own Empire, has been ranked by the UN as being in the top 1% in proportional military spending, and, with funding fueled by our massive population and extremely healthy economy, those relative proportions are very large indeed. We have a long-standing military space program - "sci-fi goodies", as our advisors put it - and devote the majority of our government spending to defense. Our Imperial cousin, Falkenburg, is only slightly less powerful, and even the weakest of the Avalon nations is vastly larger and more powerful than Ming's pitiful so-called "empire".

Needless to say, The Avalon did not comply with Ming's demands, but rather responded with mockery and derision, causing Ming to reiterate his worthless threats.

On 19 April, Imperial Gnark, having secured the formal support of a majority of the Avalon nations and, informally, the unanimous consent of the remainder - excepting only Ming and his toady - put into motion the mechanisms of our own response.

On 20 April, ships of Gnark's Imperial Navy, including the superdreadnoughts Invincible and Awesome and the fleet carriers Deimos, Titan, Charon, and Europa, took up station in the skies above Mon-go and Blue-Magic, and, at our Imperial order, commenced bombardment of the planetary surface with capital-ship energy batteries and kinetic weapons. Mongoloid resistance was brief and ineffectual. In mere minutes, our fleet reduced Mon-go and Blue-Magic to glowing debris. Ming himself has not been seen since the attack, though it is possible that he escaped to the Rejected Realms with the stream of refugees that departed before we brought the hammer down. In any case, it is to be hoped that Ming has learned his lesson about annoying empires orders of magnitude more powerful than he.

Yesterday, the Imperial Palace was invaded by hordes of soldiers calling themselves the "Flash Gordon Liberation Front". As you are aware, Mongo’s Legions of Terror retook control of the royal palace in Mingo City, retaking control of its lands and peoples. These traitors, lead by a trio of refugee earthlings has defiled us before our subjects.

I, Ming the Merciless, hereby order the surrender of the earthling criminals, Flash Gordon, Dale Arden and Hans Zarkov. Imperial orders have been issued for them to be put to death by public execution.

It is known that these criminals are being harboured by the government of Kamunaptra. If they and their associates refuse to swear allegiance to Ming, and turn these earthlings over to Mongo authorities, you and your people will be cast into the Realms Of Rejection, forever banished from Planet Mongo as I banished your co-horts in arms.
