Port Yuko Times excerpt:

PORT YUKO- The acting President of Bonstock, Field Marshal Gustavus Adolphus, has anounced his impending resignation, after 8 years of provisional rule.

The next leader will be civilian, according to the government, and martial law will end.

In addition, the Government has released all rebel prisoners taken during the civil war.

Many of the more moderate former revolutionaries have formed a new party, the Social Democrats, to challenge the Federal Moderates in the coming elections.

Two likely cantidates have emerged for President. Former Rebel General Maxwell von Pruessen and former Bank of Bonstock CEO Sven Lansen are running for the Social Democrats and Federal Moderates, respectivly.

Von Pruessen distinguished himself in the White Tundra wars as an armor officer, and was later called into service with the Rebels. He is considered a more liberal cantidate, advocating more control over rampant corporate corruption, though is also considered a hawk on military spending. Many people view him as a rebel who ought not to be trusted. He is 56 years old.

Lansen, who rose quickly up the corporate ladder at the Bank of Bonstock, Bonstock's largest corporation, is considered more pro-free enterprise. He has consistantly lobbied against corporate reform, and has succeded to a large part. Critics cite his involvement in the Bank of Bonstock insider trading scandal ten years ago, which many believe was a cause of the Revolution and the Civil War.

ooc: I'll have a poll here later.

How's their stance on Civil Rights?

We dont know yet...

But since they're Bonstocknians, they might as well be poor on civil rights...

That's a hard choice. But I beleive that bankers should never be trusted. He'll probably end up promoting his corporation and stripping the military of everything, leaving it open for attacks. I'd have to vote Von Pruessen.

The Dominion of LeberMac throws its support behind the conservative ex-banker, to the tune of 20 iTMS's (iTunes Music Store). Hopefully this will allow the candidate to buy some votes.

A young, female reporter sat at the desk. "Election polls are extremely close right now, with polls at 50% for von Pruessen and 50% for Lansen. Lansen and von Pruessen faced off in a televised debate yesturday."

"Sirs, what are your plans for keeping our country safe?"

von Pruessen answered first. "We need to build up our military, and make it a more professional force. As of now, all of our forces are made up of conscripts trained for a year and then turned loose. We need to make our conscripts of better quality and thus make our military stronger."

Lansen answered back. "I agree somewhat, but I think our system of conscription is out of date. Our military needs to rethink its role in Bonstock and the world, and mold itself accordingly."

"Sirs, what are your plans for national healthcare?"

Again, von Pruessen answered first. "I believe that our government must create a new program to provide healthcare for all Bonstocknians. As I walk through Port Yuko, I see many Bonstocknians without the benefits of healthcare. How can we hold our heads up high as a nation and not provide basic healthcare services to our people?"

Lansen responded, "I agree that there is a serious heathcare problem, but I do not think we should solve it by public means. We must give more subsides to doctors and nurses, so that private businesses can solve what is not a public problem. It will solve the problem without costs to taxpayers."

D'OH! The poll's gone! Damn!

Oh well, last I remember it was 3 votes Lansen, 2 Von Pruessen.

"In a remarkably low turnout election, Lansen won the Presidency, and his party won 60% of the Riksdag. The Social Democrats won 40% of the votes for the Riksdag. More later."

OOC: Make a new poll then, someone could have voted in the time you weren't on before the poll left. And the debate was easily von Pruessen with the better choices in my oppinion. Are you sure Lansen won or did you just want him to win?
