Port Yuko Times excerpt:
PORT YUKO- The acting President of Bonstock, Field Marshal Gustavus Adolphus, has anounced his impending resignation, after 8 years of provisional rule.
The next leader will be civilian, according to the government, and martial law will end.
In addition, the Government has released all rebel prisoners taken during the civil war.
Many of the more moderate former revolutionaries have formed a new party, the Social Democrats, to challenge the Federal Moderates in the coming elections.
Two likely cantidates have emerged for President. Former Rebel General Maxwell von Pruessen and former Bank of Bonstock CEO Sven Lansen are running for the Social Democrats and Federal Moderates, respectivly.
Von Pruessen distinguished himself in the White Tundra wars as an armor officer, and was later called into service with the Rebels. He is considered a more liberal cantidate, advocating more control over rampant corporate corruption, though is also considered a hawk on military spending. Many people view him as a rebel who ought not to be trusted. He is 56 years old.
Lansen, who rose quickly up the corporate ladder at the Bank of Bonstock, Bonstock's largest corporation, is considered more pro-free enterprise. He has consistantly lobbied against corporate reform, and has succeded to a large part. Critics cite his involvement in the Bank of Bonstock insider trading scandal ten years ago, which many believe was a cause of the Revolution and the Civil War.
