f-15E is great for air-to-air

No, it isn't. The F-15C/D/A/B is, but the E is a fighter/bomber. The F-15A through D is outdated anyways, and they're too heavy.

ZF-42 'Gecko'

http://www.simlabs.arc.nasa.gov/photos/images/aircraft/astovl.jpeg

Recently reclassified (from its former name, ZF-43), the ZF-42 is a joint project among the naval, air force, and marine branches. It is a stealthy strike fighter - this much we can disclose. It is similar in mission to the Joint Strike Fighter, but outperforms it so greatly that we are out of ways to express it - a recent fly-off contest between a live fire Gecko Phase IV prototype and a severely reinvented JSF (refined airframe, revamped avionics, different design to accomodate for UAV, enhanced dogfighting manueverability) resulted in the Gecko being the clear winner, suffering minor damage to the rear vertical stabilizer while reducing the JSF-UAV to a flying ball of flame. The Gecko comes in two version, the standard CTOL air force version, to complement the (very fine) Kazakhstanian A-15 in the surgical strike role, and the ASTOVL version, used both in the Navy and in the Marines.

Also of note, it won a 'prettiest fighter of Zoogiedom' competition, involving the ZF-27, ZF-26, ZF-28, ZF-31, and ZF-46.

Would you be interested in this? It will come for sale soon.

The F-15 has not been considered due to the fact that it is a large aircraft. We are in need of smaller mostly single engined fighters.

Hmmm...I know it maybe considered too expensive and large of an aircraft, as well as it having two engines, but we would recommend the Eurofighter-2000 Typhoon.

Neither the Mirage 2000 nor the MiG-29 are exactly "lightweight" fighters, either.

Essentially, the Mig 29 was designed to face-off against the F-15...

As AC-S said, it is not exactly lightweight.

Secret IC:

[code:1:383b30559f]

Zoogie Aerospace Corp. is interested in presenting its ZaS-42 aircraft into the competition to serve in homeland defense. The ZaS-42 is primarily a strike fighter, but is lightweight, cheap and easy to maintain, and gets into the air quickly. It is also one heck of a dogfighter and can carry capable air to air loads. We realize we are in for some fierce competition with the Saab Gripen, F-16, and MiG-29...but we are confident, as in our own trials they have been extremely successful against the worst of adversaries.

More information available on request.

OOC: Estimated costs...$32/38 million.

SBNN news come on... "In a moment General Marko Savic will give a public statement... Today the stock market... Wait we have word the confirence is about to begin, lets go there... As perviously stated the SBBAF is looking for a 'affordable' fighter to enter domestic prodction, currently the tests of the propsed aircraft are underway and already the J-8 Finback has been disquilified. The J-8 is found to big and sluggish for out current needs, and thier upkeep is also undesarible."

The news goes on....

OOC: Prototypes? They've gone into domestic production.

IC:

We shall send two ZaS-42A models (air force), and two ZaS-42M models (navy/marines) with ASTOVL capabilities. Pilots and engineers will accompany them, and give you any information you require. A group of engineers is getting ready to fly to your nation next NS week, as a carrier has been tasked to go closer to your waters so that the aforementioned ZaS-42s may fly to your nation unarmed.

Andrelvhir

Symworks HQ

Under the dark, dark sky of Andrelvhir, was the dark, dark, building of the Symworks headquarters. Inside the dark dark building, was a dark dark corridor. Walking in the dark dark corridor was a man dressed in dark dark clothing.

And in his dark dark clothing was a bright yellow package.

And in that bright yellow passage lay the final recorded statistics based on evaluation of Gecko 01-04.

"Sir," bade the dark, darkly dressed man hello. "Thy requested information."

He handed over the dark, dark package.

"Very well."

The package was opened...and out jumped....

A CRAB!!!!

BSNN news... "We are here with military analyst Mike Smith to discuss the propsed fighters, Mike tell us what you think... We lets start from the top and work our way to the bottom:
Mirage 2000 - a very good aircraft, but a lit to heavy for the current requirements, it is unclear why it has gotten this far.
JAS-39 Gripen - a excelent aircraft, mostly likey the winner of this compitition.
F-16 Falcon - another great aircraft but the cost will most likely a big factor.
MiG-29 Fulcrum - a great fighter but it is large, twin engined and will most likey lose out due to the simple fact that it does not match the critieria of the SBAF.
MiG-21-2000 Fishbed - it is unclear why this aircraft is in this compititon. It maybe updated and almost enitirely rebuild but it is not upto part to the rest. I suspect outside influence has gotten this aircraft this far along.
UKNOWN AIRCRAFT - there are rumors of a foreign aircraft being introduced into the compititon, it is unkown what make it is but I look forward to seeing how it fairs.

Thank you Mike.."

OOC:
I would say go with the grippen as in those militaries where the opinion they are held in by the US doesn't matter terribly it is stomping all over the F16.
(the imature tantrum thrown by the US at the Czechs for choosing the grippen was both frightening and amusing at the same time...).

The only other Rl entry i could see would be the JF-17/FC1/Super 7 (personally i would go for the pakistani JF-17 version) it is looking like being very cheap.

As for a custom i suppose i coudl coem up with soem stats for the single seat fighter version of my CFF-14 Matrix (EADS Mako basiclaly)

SBNN news... "In current news there was an accident at the central SBAF test facility a Mirage 2000 had an engine melfunction and crashed, the pilot ejected. With this onset of events the Mirage has been disquilfied. In related new the requirement have changed to a manditory single engine fighter forcing the MiG-29 out of the bid for the contract. The mystery foreign aircraft has not yet been shown to the public, but there is strong lobbying by the domestic contractors not to allow it to procide."

OOC: Heh, you could make high tarrifs on it, it would make it expensive but your domestic companies would survive and thrive.
