Dateline: Greater Ruthias Shipyards, Orbit of Juumus Prime

"...and so I cristen ye, JDS Midway!" the President's voice trailed over the loudspeakers as the ceremonial bottle of champange impacted against the ship's hull.

The newly cristened CSN-01 JDS Midway slowly taxied backwards out of its berth at the Juumanistran Space Consortium's primary shipyards. The vessel was absolutely mammoth by any stretch of the imagination. As it cleared the spacedock, it's gargantuan stature came into focus as it came beside the nearly finished JDS Richmond, which had previously been the biggest ship fit for combat at some 950 meters, which would be one of the dozen other ships to accompany it to Jorius Prime to finish outfitting and for field trials.

"As the Juumo-Germanic War continues to rage, we must wish you Godspeed and God bless. Make us proud, JDS Midway."

Well, we've been a space tech nation for a while, although most of stuff has been relatively small when compared to the rest of the galaxy; all under a kilometer in length, with the biggest mainline ship being slightly under 900 meters. The Midway had originally be slated to be a testbed for various systems, as well as to test our knowledge of greater-than-one-kilometer length ship design. As our current conflict with the Federation of Germanic Worlds has continued, the Midway was outfitted with all the trimmings of a modern carrier.

[OOC: I've got a personal bias against most ships over a kilometer; they are, in most cases, ridiculous. But, since superships are the norm, I needed to get around to joining the rest of the galaxy eventually...]

Would you liek to join in to a mutal allaince wiht the UTA ? we have been searching for new freinds out there and we think you would be a good addtion as our allies :P

We'd like avoid a full-bore alliance, given the...sketchy history that UTA has had with other major spacepowers. Or so we've managed to learn from hearsay; multiple wars with CorpSac and a touch-and-go relationship with CoreWorlds, for instance. Then again, our archives are by no means complete, and should we be wrong, we will gladly consider a military alliance.

We would be more interested in military cooperation and political friendship. As our current affair with the Federation of Germanic Worlds has proven, while our forces are well-armed and well-trained, our collective lack of combat experience is proving costly. A reliable wargame and technological sharing partner would be most desirable.

Similarly, good relations with another spacefaring nation would be desirous in that we have been relatively isolated in our corner of space. As you've seen, our rise has gone unnoticed by most, due to the fact that most of our growth has been indiginous, rather than imported.
