Mines

2 blocks of M112 [could desinegrate a truck] C-4 [cyclotrimethylene-trinitramine (C3H6N6O6)]
http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/c4-3-intro.jpg

Weight: 1.25 pounds (half a kilogram)
Expands: 26,400 fps

The explosion actually has two phases.
The initial expansion inflicts most of the damage.
It also creates a very low-pressure area around the explosion's origin -- the gases are moving outward
so rapidly that they suck most of the gas out from the "middle" of the explosion. After the
outward blast, gases rush back in to the partial vacuum, creating a second, less-destructive inward energy wave.

Magnetic Marine Mine

http://www.warships1.com/Weapons/WAMGER_G7_mine_cutaway.jpg

With Chains attached to it and dropped from an airplane it falls into the water,
it then floats in the "middle" of the water depth and its chains float near the top.
If dropped in a port and a ship leaves the magnitism pulls the mine torwards. When it is attached
the timer [sorry spelling sucks] it then can
clog up a port with bodies of ships. 8)

Bouncing Betty's, anti personel mines

http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/Bouncing_Betty.jpg

Usually buried with only a small part of the igniter protruding from the ground,
these mines are pressure or tripwire activated. You may also hear this type of mine referred to as a "Bouncing Betty."
When activated, the igniter sets off a propelling charge, lifting the mine about 1 meter into the air.
The mine then ignites a main charge, causing injury to a person's head and chest.

M-14 Anti-P mine (http://angola.npaid.org/mine_usa_m14.htm)
http://angola.npaid.org/images/Landmine_database/Mine_AP_M14_USA1400.jpg

The M14 is a small cylindrical AP blast plastic mine.
It has a pressure plate with an indented yellow indicating arrow on the top which accommodates the mine fuze wrench.
The arrow and the pressure plate can be rotated from safe (S) to armed (A) position.
The letters A and S is embossed into the top of the mine body. When set in the armed position,
it allows applying of pressure to the Belleville spring beneath.
The detonator and the white detonator plug are screwed into the fuze well in the centre of the base.
The pressure plate is secured with a U-formed safety clip which is fitted into a slot on each side of the pressure plate. A pull cord is attached to the clip.
The lower part of the mine contains the main charge. The upper and the lower part of the mine body are screwed together.
The lower part has six vertical ribs on the side of the body to provide strength and serve as a means for identifying the mine in darkness.
The only metal in this mine is the steel firing pin on the Belleville spring.

METHOD OF OPERATION

When the safety clip is removed and the pressure plate is rotated to armed position (A),
direct pressure on the top of the pressure plate causes the Belleville spring to press down and snap into reverse,
driving the firing pin into the detonator which detonates and fires the main charge.

Height: 46 mm
Diameter: 56 mm
Mine weight: 99 gr.
Explosive weight: 31 gr. Tetryl
Casing material and colour Plastic, olive green

SPM Limpet mine (http://angola.npaid.org/mine_russia_spm.htm)

http://angola.npaid.org/images/Landmine_database/spm2400.jpg

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MINE
The SPM is a half cylinder shaped limpet mine with a body of aluminium. The diameter is less on the ends than on the central part of the mine. On the flat Bakelite base plate of the mine are four magnets, two on each end, for magnetic attachment to metal targets. When the mine is not deployed, a flat iron transport plate is magnetic attached to base plate. The transport plate has a square-shaped hole in the centre. The fuze well is located centrally on the side of the mine. The fuze has a time delay utilising a lead delay strip which is cut by a spring loaded wire. Eight different lead strips of varying thickens are available. When the mine is not fuzed, the fuze well is closed with a brown well cap. The delay intervals are approximate and may vary depending of the temperature. An olive green cloth carrying handle is attached to the side of the mine, on the opposite side of the fuze well.

METHOD OF OPERATION
When the safety pin is removed, the spring loaded striker is released and pressed forwards,
causing the steel wire to start cutting through the lead delay strip.
After the delay strip is cut, the spring loaded striker is released towards the detonator.
The striker fires the detonator and the booster which in turn detonates the main charge.

M7A2 Av Mine (http://angola.npaid.org/mine_usa_m7a2.htm)

[No images availible]

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MINE
The M7A2 is a rectangular anti-vehicle mine with a body of sheet steel and a pressure plate on the top.
The pressure plate is rectangular on the top and is bend downwards along the two long sides of the mine.
On each side of the pressure plate is a slot and on each side of the mine body are a rivet.
The pressure plate can be slid sideways and upwards. When the fuze is inserted into the fuze well and the pressure plate
is slid into position over the fuze so that the rivets on the sides of the mine are in the vertical slots of the pressure plate, the mine is armed.
On the top of the mine, in the centre, is a fuze well for placement of the M603 fuze.
The fuze is cylindrical in shape and is made of iron. The top of the fuze is a pressure plate which is attached to the fuze body by a copper cover.
This cover increases the firing pressure and makes the fuze water proof. Beneath the pressure plate is
the pressure head which is connected to a double Belleville spring with a firing pin in the centre on the bottom side
The fuze is secured with a metal clips which is fitted under the fuze pressure plate.
Beneath the fuze is a small booster charge (M120). A secondary fuze well is located offset on one of the short sides of the mine.
The fuze well is threaded and accumulates a carrying handle or a M1 activator for booby trapping device.

METHOD OF OPERATION
When the pressure plate is slid to armed position
( with the two lugs in the vertical grooves in the pressure plate), the mine is armed.
Required pressure on the pressure plate depresses it transferring the pressure to the top of the fuze.
The pressure plate and the copper cover is depressed transferring the pressure to the pressure head on the Belleville spring
causing the Belleville spring to press down and snap into reverse, driving the firing pin into the detonator which detonates and fires the
M120 booster charge beneath the fuze which in turn fires the main charge.
