Domestic Effects of Al Anbari War

Whittierites across the nation are beginning to complain about the sky rocketing price of gas as the war in middle east continues. Mass protests are popping up, some groups blaming greedy oil companies, others greedy gas station owners.
Members of the Whittier Democratic Party held placards reading "no war for oil" and demanded the government appease Saddam in the name of oil.
A recent poll here showed that the majority of whittierites believe the govt is not doing enough to alleviate the high prices. But the same poll showed that the same majority of people believed that Brezhnekov should not give in to Saddam Hussein and that the war in the mid east was just.
In Los Angeles, the price of per gallon of gas has risen to ten dollars and gas is now being rationed in the city.
Opposition leaders, in addition to calling for a withdrawal from the mideast are demanding renewed off shore oil drilling and the reopening of closed down oil fields. Damn the environment they said. Ensuring our energy independence is more important than saving the environment, or the human race for that matter.
The govt responded by saying that gas rationing has gone into effect, and a new law mandating car pooling and encouraging the use of public transportation.
In other news, Brezhnekov announced that refugees from the conflict in the middle east would be welcomed in Whittier and given protected status as political refugees. Many are being given free education and job skill training so they can rebuild their nation when they go home. Which doesn't look like it will be anytime soon.

Even as Republican Army personnel in Via'di'arl worked to clear rubble at the site of the former Whitter embassy in the Al Khali capital, President Qottar's government was preparing communiqués.

He personally expressed Al Khals' sympathy for the difficulties conflict brought to the ordinary people of Whitter, and wasted little time in mentioning the Democratic Republic's oil production capacities. A major export order -part of the last planned expansion of Al Khali crude production- had fallen short of early hopes by some 250 million barrels over the next year, 200million the following year, 100million there after. Al Khals, having budgeted and planned for increased production, was in a position to offer this ammount to Whitter's demanding markets.

Al Khali crude had previously been selling at less than US$22 per barrel, but with war in the Middle East that was likely to climb several dollars.

In short, Al Khali fields were prepared to export up to 250million barrels of crude to Whitter this year, and 200 million the next, if there was interest.

Conservative groups began promoting trade relations with Al Khals.
They argued that such trade would reduce Whittier's dependence on mid eastern oil.
Secretary Brezhnekov, acting on the request of the Parliament sent representatives to Al Khal to discuss possible trade with the south african nation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the fact that Whittier has not taken oil from the mideastern fields it occupies, despite the extreme domestic energy crises ought to be proof to all nations that Whittier is not in the middle east for the oil.
Said Brezhnekov to a reporters question on the subject:
The oil in the middle east belongs to the people of the middle east. To take that oil and use it for our own use would be to steal from the very people we are there to help. I know and the people of Whittier know we going through a trial of our resolve both economically, domestically, and internationally. But Whittier is confident of our cause and that in the end good will triumph over evil. Hence, most Whittierites would rather suffer the consequences of high oil prices than to allow a madman, Saddam Hussein, to brutally attack his neighbors.

Whittierites are out in force tonight celebrating the successful storming of Beirut by air, land, and sea forces today.
Brezhnekov called the commander in charge to congratulate him on making a successful beachhold. And encouraged coalition troops to not stop at the beach but to take the city itself.
He also told them, the thousands of Lebanese they were liberating from Al Anbari oppression would be forever grateful for their sacrifices as was the international community.

Congradulations, if you have no problum with, if you are taking Quater, I would like to purchase the island after you have liberated it.We are grateful for your support. However, we the protectors of Qatar. We are not the owners nor do we have plans to annex it. We do not other nations trying to annex it either. Your proposal contradicts the very reason we are war with Al Anbar in the first place. That is to protect the soverignty of the nations of the Middle east.
Therefore we must reject your request to take over Qatar, which is a soverign and independent nation.
