Looking to buy territory: offers STILL wanted
Nimzonia

In response to Nimzonia's rapidly growing population, and rapidly decreasing natural resources, not to mention living space, the ruling Anchor Party held a meeting on friday to decide what to do about the impending overpopulation crisis.
Once the military buffs calling for an imperialistic invasion of some small and feeble country had been shouted down, the ministry of the interior consulted with the finance minister, and the conclusion was made: Nimzonia must buy more territory!
An announcement was made two days later: the Nimzonian government is looking to buy a sparsely populated or (preferably) unpopulated piece of coastal territory of roughly 20,000 square miles (about the size of wales), with agricultural potential, from any country willing to part with a small area of land. Preferred areas would be North America (East coast), Western Europe, or West Africa, but other areas may be considered. The Nimzonian government is willing to cover the costs of relocating the area's population, assuming it isn't too large. The Nimzonian government notes, that this deal may be particularly beneficial to economically struggling nations who need the money.
The location of Nimzonia is here:

We would prefer an area of land within easy reach of our merchant fleet in the north atlantic, so the east coast of the Americas, and the west coasts of europe and africa, are preferred.
However, if there is a shortage of offers, we may look elsewhere.
OOC: Only realistic modern nations, please: I don't want borders with future-tech nations and n00bs.

My fellowship of nations is currently in possession of an island approximately 100 miles off the coast of Paamiut. This island was purchased years ago for research but has never been used.
It is currently uninhabited with the exception an old farmer.

Unreal Soldiers: 100 miles of Paamiut would appear to be too northern to support agriculture - temperatures in that zone rarely rise as high as 8-10 degrees C, even during July.
Please give details regarding topography, and more importantly, how much you would be prepared to sell it for - It may still prove to be a useful place to dump a population centre and provide an anchorage for our fleet.
Cartoria: It's a very tempting offer; however, Nimzonia doesn't recognise the existence of future tech nations, so it may be difficult to work out a deal. If you think of something, let me know, but I RP Nimzonia as existing in a strictly modern environment.

The island is approximately 45,000 sq. miles, mostly plains, with a small hill region, climbing to a peak of about 25 meters. There is a small forest surrounding this hill, mostly comprised of dead trees. The farmer residing there, is old, as in used to be a farmer, though is currently living out his days there. He may in fact be dead already.
Since we currently have absolutely no use for this land, we would be willing to sell it for 25 million. We may be able to negotiate even lower, so place an offer.

Unreal Soldiers: We are willing to pay the stated price of 25 million. Is the island currently named?
Cartoria: Well, I suppose this works; if we RP this transaction as occurring while Cartoria is still modern tech. $2 per square mile seems extraordinarily cheap, though. If this price is acceptable to you, we will take the whole island for $80,000. A map of some sort indicating the actual location would be handy, or I could just plot it in a random location 200 miles from the UK?

We will accept your offer, and the island currently has no official name.

Are you interested in a 2,000 mile square property in GameFAQ to put an embassy there. (you can let people live there, grow food, put a naval base, ect.) But GameFAQ will still own it and some of GameFAQ's laws will still apply. For example, the people who move there will be called "Friends of GameFAQ" and will be able to get jobs in any place in GameFAQ. One of the "Friends of GameFAQ" could even become President!

Nimzonia is only interested in actually acquiring territory, rather than simply renting it, or occupying it. However, we have no objections to building an embassy in GameFAQ.

Since previous land purchases have been rather cheaper than we had anticipated, the Nimzonian government still has the majority of the funds it set aside for potential land purchases, and is still looking to buy unwanted or unneeded coastal provinces, of an area of at least 20,000 square miles.
Anywhere with a coast on the Atlantic or mediterranean will do, so long as the climate is right for agriculture, and it isn't a wasteland. Uninhabited territories preferred.

That's funny, someone in the NationStates forum is selling territory (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=135246).

alright deal is on. (you can draw up your own map if you prefer)
Hey Cartoria, is that land still up for grabs? From my point of view, a nation that has recently become future tech is in the transitive phase; cutting off ties from modern tech, making ties with future tech, etc. This includes selling off your modern tech territory. Muktar is willing to buy. We have cities to build!

OOC: Okay, basically, I'm not interested in acquiring puppet nations, nor am I particularly bothered about acquiring vast areas of land at low cost (although, I'll have them if you're offering ). This is simply a device to possibly open up new RP opportunities, since aside from one ongoing RP, there's not much happening in the arctic, and being an island, I have no borders to speak of. By acquiring a chunk of land in Africa or America, I may gain borders with several nations with whom to RP. I could do this by invasion, but that tends to get all the warmongers up in arms, so I need to buy land instead. I'll try bumping this for another day, in case any parties who might be interested have not yet seen it.
