HMS Fiona, an Star destroyer class battleship, dropped out of hyperspace above the planet designated PC-10X3, shortly after HMS Rockwood and HMS Spanker dropped out of hyperspace on her flanks, the 2 Nebulon B Frigate were escorting 15 GenTech Corporation cargo ships, carrying 4000 colonists.
After a brief pause HMS Spanker launched the 63rd Fighter Squadron which quickly took up over watch positions around the fleet. At the same time HMS Rockwood started deploying communication buoys which contained a looped message warning vessels in the area that this was now Wintrees space.
Shuttles from HMS Finoa started to fly down to the planets surface. They landed in a defensive square formation, troops poured out of the landing ramps and the odd light APC was rolled out.
Reports from the long probe y-wings had stated that there was life on the lush Jungle planet, dubbed New Glenn. The soldiers had come prepared.
A Blue-green alien appeared from the undergrowth near one of the shuttles, his stature and appearance seemed to suggest he was at a state of primordial evolution. He let out a chucking sound, alerting the 4 soldiers standing next to the shuttle, they quickly turned around pointing their weapons at the alien, one looking around at the officer that just dismounted from his apc, the officer nodded at the soldier who then turned back facing the alien and fired five 7.62 rounds into the aliens chest, causing it to fall to the ground, letting out a whimper. The 4 soldiers then quickly advanced on the alien and studied it, a twitch in its arm caused the soldiers to empty their magazine into it.
48 hours after the "colonisation" had started the area around 1st landing resembled a battleground, HMS Fiona had descended to low orbit and levelled a cave system that the aliens had set up a settlement in with turbolaser fire. Soldiers were now clearing the area around the destroyed caves, finishing off any wounded they found.
3 days later, the aliens mounted a counter attack, throwing themselves at the now established defensive perimeter the soldiers held since the day they 1st landed. Miniguns cut through the massive hoard of assaulting aliens, cutting them down in the thousands. When the unorganized alien forces were routed, gunships from HMS Fiona quickly searched them out, finishing out what was left of scattered aliens.
The colonists arrived shortly after the area was declared "Clear". They set about setting up their towns and outposts. The Wintrees flag fluttered over the now deserted cave system...
