PEA-20 (Technological Demonstrator)

As promised PEA was released a new aircraft, after a long absence from aircraft production, he new plane is only a technological demonstrator to probe the market and find initial interesting in PEA planes.

Sitting on the tarmac the PEA-20 does not look very impressive. Measuring 3M(high), 7.7M(long) and 7.4M (wide) the plane is tiny and it is an wonder how PEA managed to fit all they have in the airframe.

Skinning over water, PEA-20 shows of it's small frame, One disadvantage with such a small frame is that high altitude fighting is near on impossible.

Several new technologies are being demonstrated with he design.
Automatic suspension adjustments: The suspension system inside PEA-20 is extremely advanced and was designed and developed inside PEA. The hardness of the suspension on PEA-20 is fully adjustable, During flight the onboard computer calculates the weight of the aircraft and adjusts the suspension so that a perfect landing can be achieved 100% of the time, lowering risk of failure.

3rd thrust vectoring: While not a new idea, 3rd thrust vectoring is still hard to come by in a plane. Having control over sideways movement of the nozzle 3rd thrust vectoring greatly improves maneuverability of the aircraft even over conventional up/down thrust vectoring

Variable bypass ratio engines: PEA has spent lots of time and money to develop turbofans with variable bypass ratios, The advantage with variable bypass ratio engines is that you have a greater control over fuel economy(to improve range) and thrust (For performance boost). In tests a variable bypass ratio engine provided a 15% increase in max thrust and a 10% lowering in fuel consumption (On a standard 1500nm intercept and destroy mission).

If any nation was any question about anything, we will be more than happy to answer.

Please feel free to comment on anything and express you initial feelings about the new generation PEA aircraft.

Very interesting.

I am most specifically interested in two things: first of course being the specifications and statistics, which you seem to have omitted; and secondly that vairable bypass engine. Raysia Electric deals with complex engine systems in all our top aircraft, whether it be 3d-thrust-vectoring pulse-detonation/jet hybrids, or giant goliath-sized engines that throw out 700 pounds of force. This variable Bypass engine would certainly be a great asset to our electrical engineering teams. Care to do a joint effort some time? At least to create a good fighter engine?

Specification for the plane are as follows
PEA-20
Role: Technological Demonstrator
Crew: 1
Height: 2.8M
Length: 7.7M
Wingspan: 7.4M
Weights: Empty - 12,310 lbs, Max - 21,310 lbs
Powerplant: 2 x PEA-75a VBR engines with 3d Thrust Vectoring
Static thrust @ 100%: power 5,210lbs to 6,418lbs
Afterburner thrust:7,512lbs
Performance:
Max speed: Mach 1.7
Cruise speed: Mach 0.86
Range: 2500NM
Armament: None

A joint program sounds like a good idea. Once we have looked over the pros and cons we will telegram you with our answer. Currently a Yes to the program is the likly outcome.

These Bypass engines... dot ehy only work at low power? Or can they be used at higher outputs, say around 35,000 lbf?

Currently the highest ouput a VBP(Variable Bypass Ratio) engine has been 21,000lb of static thrust. We see no reason as to why the design can't be scalled up to any output level. With afterburner the engine automatically does into the lowest bypass ration possible to have the best possible thrust.

Typo fix: In tests a variable bypass ratio engine provided a 15% increase in max thrust and a 10% lowering in fuel consumption (On a standard 1500nm intercept and destroy mission).

Should read: In tests a variable bypass ratio engine provided a 15% increase in SPEED and a 10% lowering in fuel consumption (On a standard 1500nm intercept and destroy mission).
