The Armed Forces of the Republic noted that the potential of armored vehicles was limited in rough terrain, making them vulnerable to infantry and aerial attacks. Thus, the Republic chose to base her military might around extremely well-trained infantry units, the best in the world.

However, a drawback to the reliance of infantry was soon found: They lacked firepower and speed, relative to vehicular units.

A defense contractor called Echo Defense Corporation was awarded the contract to solve this problem.

The inventive engineers at EDC figured that the slow speed of infantry in flat terrain could be compensated for with a jetpack of sorts, allowing troops to "fly" for a while.

EDC had developed a more efficient hydrogen fuel, allowing the pack to stay aloft for roughly 1 hour. The time could be increased greatly by adding glider wings, allowing the individual soldier to fly.

Next was firepower. EDC solved this shortcoming by attaching a shoulder-mounted hardpoint to the suit, giving the soldier piloting the armor a missile launcher.

Although the XG-28 has not yet been approved for combat use yet, the unit should be ready within the year. It comes in two variants, one a sniper/scout suit for stealth and speed operations, the other a general combat suit.
