"It is with great pleasure that I announce the Empire's first foray into the air-superiority fighter: the IF-47 Condor. Based off of the Russian Su-47 (S-37), the IF-47 is designed to target and destroy incomming enemy fighters, bombers, or any air target.

The IF-47 improves upon the Soviet design by giving the aircraft active stealth technology (plasma tech) aswell as the current RAM used in the Su-47. The IF also improves upon the design by upgrading the cockpit to a more modern design and improving radar and computer systems. In addition to this, the Su-47's engines have been replaced by more powerful engines with thrust vectoring: two F140-MT engines will provide 20,000 pounds more thrust than the current engines and the thrust vectoring will help the forward swept wing design in supersonic flight.

The reason for the forward swept wings are simple: below supersonic flight (where most dogfights have taken place), the wing generates more lift and is more manueverable than backward swept wings. However, at supersonic flight the wings lose effectiveness, so the thrust vectoring is needed to maintain this manueverability, and more thrust is needed than the Russian fighter provided. The new engines will provide that thrust and a super-cruising ability. This leads me to another issue: heat

One way to get a lock on a stealth airplane is by infrared radiation, which is heat. The IF-47 will combat this problem by placing a small air intake to bring in cooled air and mix it with the exhaust air. Other Russian planes have used this system and it appears to work very well compared to other aircraft.

Fnext I shall discuss electronics. IF-47 aircraft have modern digital controls that allow the plane to control thrust vectoring as though it were just another flight surface. Also, the advanced infrared sensors can track 20 targets at ranges of 80km. The radar is capable of 20 targets at 250 km."
