any nation is wecome to buy thse great pices of technology unified sith has just launched 2 and the satellites are now on-linegiving unified sith a grand number of satelites on orbit. we will not specify how many as that would be just a silly thing to do but we do have them
Jordaxia

Even Jordaxia could build?
(We would only need the satellite to provide reconnaisance, but still can defend itself.) I wish to have the weapons platforms removed, and have another 2 vulcans placed instead
Jordaxia will pay a reduced cost for this due to the fact that it will not fire wmd. How about 3 for 600 million? That moolah comes in handy you know.

unified sith will accept however the price will have to be 800million for the dramatic refit of the satelite itself. if you wish unified sith to place the satelites in orbit for you it will cast a further 2million per satellite

How well do the full wave rectifiers work on them? I don't want to be sending missiles to another country if the radioactive waves are all over the shop.

Full wave rectifiers or nothing. And don't try to sell me any dodgy halve wave rectifing crap. When my badboys go off I want to be sure there will be birth defects for centurys

Jordaxia should not be asked to pay more for the wmd to be removed!
It is being excessively generous that it will pay so much.
600 million is the final offer, take it or leave it. (I still want vulcans and extra ammo where the wmd were)

just for your information, orbital missile platforms do NOT carry ICBMs...

they carry warhead cannisters which are burst pressure released and fall towards earth under minimal power before seperating and showering several targets with high yield warheads...

you dont NEED 95% of your standard conventional missile because you dont need to clear orbit or reach escape velocity...

just a friendly note...

btw, your little missile platform probably violated 1/2 a dozen UN treaties and you would probably open yourself up to several sanctions for spacing one of these pieces of garbage :)

Jordaxia believes that when the angry Junkies are a significant enough power to even listen to, it may comply with its demands.
(OOC: until then, you shut your face, and stop spamming the forum, because you impress nobody, and earn yourself a reputation of being a fool)

So...laser targetted Vulcan cannons, which have a muzzle velocity of about 3,700 mph?

In freefall?

Couple of problems:

exactly how do the cannons target again?

Lasers are only useful for showing a human where they are aiming. Laser target designators are used for guiding a smart weapon to target. Bullets are not smart weapons. You'd need radar to identify a target in orbit. Does the solar array produce enough power to use the radar AND fire the guns?

Another problem: recoil. With a muzzle velocity of 3,700 kp/h you'll need a thruster synchronised to fire at the same time as the weapon to produce equal counterthrust. If you don't, the least bad thing that could happen is that only the first round is accurate. The worst is that the sat plummets back to earth, or off into deep space. If you have a thruster that can produce counterthrust at the same time as a Vulcan fires, great. Please, what would the fuel load be for this satellite?

Of course, a way around this issue would be to make the satellite of sufficient mass to absorb the recoil. That would be...well, over 50 tonnes. How much to loft that much into orbit? Also, anything that big is going to show up like...well, like a really big orbital target. Plus, it'll have to be made out of some pretty sturdy material to survive the battering every time one of the weapons goes off. So it'll be a synch to target with something like a radar guided weapon.

But we're not done yet!

When you shoot stuff up in space, the bits tend to hang around in a cloud.

There won't be an explosion, mostly because any sensible ASAT system is going to be a lump of metal after it reaches the right orbit. You don't want an explosive kill, that just leaves a big mess to interfere with other orbital objects (like your own sats) you go for a hard kill...ramming the target with a big metal spike. So even if the Vulcan shreds it, there's particulate debris which will probably rip into solar panels etc etc

This is likely to disable the target anyway, so launching an ASAT weapon (and hey, I just happen to sell them!) at one of these puppies is pretty much a guaranteed kill!

What's more, the Bodkin system now on sale at the Durtistan Arms Storefront retails for 1.85 million a piece. Now, isn't that much more cost effective?
