Official Statement on the AX-3 'Malcha'

Current: AX-3A 'Malcha'

The Malcha is the new prototype spyplane for the Kelonian States - it's declassification is part of the scheme to make Kelonian government activities more transparent for the people, a project launched by new vice-Premier Zamantha Flakkov.

On completing top-secret test flights from Roloff AFB in remote western Kelonia, and it's first 'active' mission spying on recent troop buildups in the middle east, The 'Malcha' (Kelonian for 'Silent') has been granted rights to become Kelonia's new spy plane (though the current crop of SR-71s will remain in service for the time being).

Here are some basic stats about the Malcha aircraft:
Manufacturer: Kelonian Military AWR & Turvic Industries
Required Crew: 5 (2 Pilots, 3 ECMO*s)
Length/Height: 64ft (25.6m) / 14ft (4.2m)
Wingpan: 52ft (20.2m)
Wing Area: 2,152sq. ft.
Wing Sweep: 58.92 degrees
Weight (Empty): 24,000lbs
Weight (Max): 70,000lbs
Fuselage D'mtr: 4.88ft
Service Ceiling: 93,000ft
Max. Speed: Mach 3.2
Cruising Speed: Mach 2.5
Engine Type: 2 Turvic Industries AS54 'Airspike'-capable turbojets
Engine Thrust:38,000lbs
Active Range: 5,200 nautical miles (unaided)

* Electronic Counter-Measures Officers

The plane features currently classified electro-optical stealth technology, anti-stealth detector technology, numerous high-tech defence and detection-evasion techniques and an engine type previously unseen on any Kelonian aircraft, allowing it to reach astonishing speeds.

These technologies cannot be revealed at the moment due to top-secret classification of some of the methods involved, but rest assured they will be revealed as soon as it becomes prudent (i.e. we see other nations with similar or better technology on general display). Presently, five AX-3s are being prepared for military service in Kelonia, and a bigger force will be rolled out if they prove themselves useful in further 'live' situations and as and when required.

Latest Update: Note: These changes are carried out on the AX-3/1 unless specified - this is the main testbed aircraft.
By increasing the pressure-handling systems and tweaking current performance, the AWR have managed to make an experimental, in-development Malcha reach 101,000ft and cruise with no adverse effects - this smashes the previously quite conservative predicted service ceiling. Also, the cockpit of the aircraft has been enlarged to allow for fourth and fifth crew members - who would be ECMO's (Electronic Counter-Meaure Officers) operating the new tactical jamming system fitted on board the aircraft).

We use a similar aircraft extensively in our aircraft, although it's a censor craft rather than reconaissance...and you have a much prettier picture than ours, I might add. We're interested in maybe four.

Our position is that you should put it on sale.

Thanks for the input, we'll be sure to be adding more to the design and tweaking it's abilities before it loses it's X designation and gains a canon A-number. Five have been constructed for test flights and adaption to establish what the final design will be, and hopefully it will be finished within the next year or so and availible to go into mainstream use.

Reguarding putting it on sale, the current position is that the full version will only be availible to Kelonian forces but a cut-down version, with most, if not all of the classified technology stripped out will be sold to other nations as a variant.

As well as being a spyplane, we're considering fitting it out with radar jamming technology and other electronic warfare systems - combining that with the stealth and spy abilities should make the Malcha the complete electronic weapons platform.

No matter how excellent your technology, there's something to be said for missiles with IFF signal recognition...

All Tyrandis SAM batteries are fitted with the technology, so spy planes being brought down are a regular feature of life.

Stick with satellites.

I'm here to talk about selling it to general customers overall. I think its a maybe choice. More of I'm gonna look into and see what you've done before and other things. Not anyone should just be able to buy an extremely good plane as i can see. (far better then anything i have.) So i would suggest maybe a little screening process when you start to sell.
As for stick with sateillites comment.....Sateillites are easily shot out of the sky i mean very easily unless you waste billions upon billions in dollars to try and defend it. My space station and platforms i am currently building are being fitted with anti-sateillite weaponry just for occasions of spying...(and yes it is considered modern tech strangley enough)

Tyrandis, that's probably a good idea... but I like the plane, and it's good it has a weakness as I've been a bit of a pedant and have been thinking up ways for it to foil almost all systems I could think of - I would try and think my way out of IFF recognition, but I wont as a) there probably isnt one, b) i'm too dumb and c) the plane needs a weakness or people would scream godmod.

and Comdidia, a spy-plane for the discerning customer - I like it.

Initial testing of the AX-3 with it's new electronic countermeasure/jamming equipment has been successful, and for the first time we can reveal the canon designation reserved for the aircraft when it enters full service: the E-63 'Teshna'.

Also, stripped-out version of the plane is going to be placed on general sale a safe length of time after the launch of the main aircraft, with stats nearly identical to those given above for the main plane - However, all the classified technology will be removed. More details as they arrive.

Very nice.

The main LRR AWACS/Recon drone is basically a missile with big wings. The good thing is that it can be launched from missile tubes.

We would be very interested in aquiring some of these aircraft.....
