Stapestry OFFICIALLY Announces Break From Credonian Empire

23-03-2004, 15:53
Today, it was unanymously decided by the interim government of the United States of Stapestry that it would break ALL ties with the Credonian Empire. This comes today as Emperor Alexander Sutton granted territories of the Credonian Empire full independence and separation from the Empire. Stapestry Interim President Daniel Chang had this to say: "We are greatful for all the things that have come from Credonia. Since we were first ceeded by Credonia under the rule of President Kaimoni Sutton, we have enjoyed trade, political and religious freedom, improved industry, growth of our military, and relative safety from harm, but now, we have been totally freed to lead ourselves, to better ourselves, to better the world. Stapestry is now in a position where it can give aid to nations. We STRONGLY believe in the principles that were followed under the Sutton Administration, prior to the fall of true democracy within Credonia, and we will continue those freedoms, despite our close ties to the rapidly falling nation of Credonia. We shall not make the same mistake they did. They went about doing the right thing the wrong way. We shall not. We shall succeed, we shall grow strong, and we shall do all that we can to PRESERVE life, liberty, freedom, and mans lifelong pursuit of eternal happiness. Thank you."

It is not yet clear when new presidential elections will be held, but it is speculated that they will be held starting tomorrow (rl).

The Nation of Schultaria Prime would like to extend their sincerest hopes for the future stability of your republic. On this note, we would like to extend the ties of peace and offer you a permanent embassy in our capital of Schultaria Prime if you so choose.

"If history has anything to teach us about empire, it is this: empires, though sometimes slow, clumsy, wayward, and even brutal, always seem to bind people together in solidarity (even if it is only an alliance of convenience). When a great empire begins to lose the power it once had on other territories, the world's security is threatened by those same 'secondary' nations. People, who have always expected the imperial government to come to their aid, feel that they are cut off and lack direction. This leads to chaos, ethnic fighting, and ultimately anarchy.

Remember to be strong in these dramatic times of change. Effective leadership, especially during the few critical years after independence, will decide the ultimate success of your government. I wish you good luck on this most difficult of tasks."
