Pure Evil constructs new Nuclear Power Plant

22-03-2004, 12:27
Pure Evil is about to begin construction of the largest power plant that has ever being built in Pure Evil. The new plant is expected to produce 7.63MW of power, with the previous plant being 5.21MW at peak(only 70% efficiency was every reached).

The main reason for constructing the plant is to replace 2 ageing plants that are no longer safe or efficient.

Specific details of the plant have not been released but what is know is that there will be 7 Cores, 4 of which are dedicated to power production(1.91MW per core) with the other 3 being for unspecified purposes. Of the 3 other cores 2 can be switched to produce power boosting total output to 11.4MW, The last core can not be used to produce power.

The government ask if any nation has objections to these plans or has any questions.

The only question I have is why you have a 7th core that cannot produce any power. Surely it would be better if you did not have it instead of placing a lot of money and effort into it's construction for it only to have no use.

Maybe, he has a different use for the seventh core, it would probably be for research purposes.

OOC: New here. So please forgive any Faux Pas I commit.

The Federation of JiangGuo is interested in this development. We request that the exact engineering plans for this facility be provided freely as soon as possible.

This situation suggests that Pure Evil is currently or intending to develope atomic or nuclear weapons, and the 7th core assembly is part a heavy-element (Uranium, Plutonium) production line. While JiangGuo respects every nation's right to control its internal policies, including matters of national defense, we sincerley request that Pure Evil would refrain from deploying such weapons lightly.

Regards,
Current President of JiangGuo

We are interested to know if you plan to create weapons grade plutonium. If you are, we would be willing to purchase nuclear weapons off you in and assist you in getting the nuclear power plant running.
23-03-2004, 12:05
Thank you for your interest and questions.

Cores 1 thru 4 as single purpose power generation cores.

The 5th and 6th cores are Multi purpose cores. They can be used for power generation, Research, Medical and Military uses. They are very expensive to build and run, They cost approximatly 4times as expensive to build and 1.2times as expensive to run as a purpose build core. For cost reasons to 7th core is a single purpose core.

The final 7th core is for military use. No more details can be released at this time.

Unfortuanly engineering plans cannot be sent as they are marked as top secret. When they are de-classified copies will be sent to next day to all questions that ask for them.

Pure Evil has possesed a small cacheof nuclear weapons for some time. We have never used even a single warhead in times of declared war. We have never sold atomic weapons and do not see a reason to change this.

Very well. I will not press the matter forward. We were intedning not to use the nuclear weapons either, yet you are not inclined to sell one to us.

We congratulate your nation on its latest power generation efforts. We ask that perhaps some spare nuclear waste could be used to spawn more chickaroaches, our national animal. Further details are available upon request.

Vrak, we are interested how nuclear waste could be used to aid in the rehabilitation of your nation animal. Move information is requested.

Under normal conditions all spent fuel rods will be sent to a reprocessing center to be reprocesses so they can used again in other nuclear reactors.

Basically, we can buy some of your spent fuel rods and, through a combination of biological experiments, revive our national animal population. Although some of our current nuclear waste has been diverted for this particular effort, it comes down to cost. Finally, although some of our citizens seem to like having chickaroaches as pets, we may have to go on an advertising blitz.

OOC: I have to find out whether it would actually work or not and the effects of radiation on organisms.

"Our nation congratulates the Nation of Pure Evil for developing this newest, and hopefully quite successful, series of reactors in your nation. We ourselves are attempting to develop our own nuclear program, but we have been held back by several very large setbacks. A further explaination can be seen here:

The University of Schultaria Prime would like to know if perhaps one, or several, of your reserachers would be available to assist us in determining the failure of our initial research efforts. We, as a nation as well as a struggling technological power, would appreciate your time and effort if at all possible.

With great anticipation,

We would be more than happy to send over a team on engineers to aid in the development of a power generation facility in your country.

A team will be set ASAP.

You probably could cause similar mutations in organisms by exposing them to high levels of radiation, however it' be fairly random whether whatever you got was another Chickaroach or something else equally as vile. The probability for any given animal is that it would just die of cancer and become sterile, however there is the possibility of some mutant offspring. However, the odds of creating an animal that was biologically able to breed with existing Chickaroach populations would be close to zero, however, dependant upon how close the creature remained genetically to whatever it originally sprung from.

PE has decided NOT to send spend fuel rods overseas for a number or reasons, as follows:
The cost of transports is greater than any possible financial gain
The rods can reprocessed and used again as fuel
The moral issue of mutating living creatures for research

Although I realise that the technology is not internationally recognised as being safe, have you considered researching the use of shoggoths as power-producers?

These animals are extremely useful in many other ways, but recent developments in our science labs have helped us produce almost unlimitted power from them when used in a certain way. We would be happy to provide free specimens of the shoggoth, our national animal, to help in your research, although if you wish to aquire the safest technology for protecting your people from the shoggoths you will have to pay.

OOC: Right. I figure we would be concentrating our efforts on trying to duplicate how 'natural' chickaroaches came into existence through exposure to varying levels of radiation. But yeah, what would the Klatch be without its bizarre wildlife? I'm thinking chickaroaches are so cute that other nations would leap at the chance to import them.

Subject: nuclear waste

We are still currently assessing our needs in regards to how much nuclear waste we would require since our own plants generate a fair amount. However, an alternate proposal could be this; we could collaborate on various methods on how to dispose of said waste including to but not limited to developing new technologies.

And we do have big plans for the chickaroach.
