Stealth and design:

The body of the Za-45 is a blend of stealthy shapes and aerodynamic efficiency, providing a low radar cross section without compromising performance. the over-all shape has angles to it that scrambles the radar all over, everywhere but back to the radar's origin. The general impression from other angles is that of a long, high forebody mounted between two widely-separated engine nacelles. The lengthwise variation in cross-sectional area is very smooth, minimizing transonic and supersonic drag. The forward section has a modified double-trapezoid cross section, one above the other in mirror image, with the aft region blending into a circular cross section and disappearing into the rear fuselage. The upper component of the engine box is dominated by two parallel engine nacelles that blend smoothly into the wing, each nacelle being of a modified trapezoidal cross section. The forebody has the cockpit, the nose landing gear, the electronics, and the missile bay. Trapezoid-shaped air inlets are located underneath each wing, with the leading edge forming the forward lip of a simple fixed-geometry two-shock system. The placement of the intakes underneath the wings has the advantage in removing them from the sides of the fuselage so that a large boundary-layer scoop is not needed. Instead, the thin boundary layer which forms on the wing ahead of the inlet is removed through a porous panel and is vented above the wing. An auxiliary blow-in inlet door is located on each of the upper nacelles just ahead of the engine to provide additional air to the engines for takeoff or for low speeds. The inlet ducts leading to the engines curve in two dimensions, upward and inward, to shield the faces of the compressors from radar emitters coming from the forward direction. The leading edge of the Za-45E/F's wing is swept back at 40 degrees, and the trailing edge is swept forward at the same angle. When viewed from above, the wing has the planform of a clipped triangle. On the Za-45E/F, every line in the planform is parallel to one or the other of the wing leading edges, which has become one of the guiding principles in stealthy design. The wing is structurally deep, and there is ample room for fuel inside the wing box. The wing has leading-edge slats which extend over about two-thirds of the span. The trailing edge has a set of flaps inboard and a set of drooping ailerons outboard.

"electrochromic polymer" Sheets, These thin sheets cover the aircraft’s skin and sense the hue, color and brightness of the surrounding sky and ground. The image received is then projected onto the aircraft’s opposite side. When charged to a certain voltage, these panels undergo color change.

RAM
RAM, or Radar Absorbing Material, is covering the entire fuselage of the Za-45. This material is made to absorb and kill radio waves instead of reflect them.

horizontal stabilizers located on the aft part of the aircraft. These stabilizers help evenly distribute the lift of the aircraft so that contrails are avoidable.

COCKPIT
http://www.imageshack.us/img1/189/penispitza.jpg
Za-45's cockpit represents a revolution over current "pilot offices", as it is designed to let the pilot operate as a tactician, not a sensor operator. Humans are good differentiators, but they are poor integrators. The Za-45 cockpit lets the pilot do what humans do best, and it fully utilizes the power of the computer to do what it does best.

features
Hands-On Throttle and Stick (HOTAS)
and advanced Helmet Mounted systems

The cockpit's design has focused on maintaining a high degree of comfort for the pilot and also on the pilot being able to control the aircraft in extremely high G-load manoeuvres. The aircraft is equipped with a new ejection seat and life support system. The variable geometry adaptive ejection seat is inclined at an angle of 60°, which reduces the impact of high G forces on the pilot. The seat allows dogfight manoeuvres with significantly higher G loadings than can normally be tolerated by the pilot.

Avionics:

Integrated avionics:

To the pilot, it means all the information is coordinated and available from a single source. Coherent presentation and control is not simply a way of routing lots of data to a single display, but it includes additional functionality, such as situation assessment and weapons fire control.

it includes:
- Integrated Communications Navigation Identification Avionics (ICNIA)
- Integrated Electronic Warfare System (INEWS)
- Signal and data processing in a collection of modular processors
- Linking to the sensors, subsystems,
- High-speed data busses.

Integrated Processor (IP)
IP also contains mission software that uses tailorable mission planning data for sensor emitter management and multisensor fusion;

mission-specific information delivered to system through Fairchild data transfer equipment that also contains mass storage for default data and air vehicle operational flight programme;
http://www.imageshack.us/img2/2006/za55.jpg
General purpose processing capacity of CIP is rated at more than 1000 million instructions per second (Mips) with growth to 3,000 Mips; signal processing capacity greater than 30 billion operations per second (Bops) with expansion capability to 60 Bops;

CIP contains more than 400 Mbytes of memory with growth potential to 700 Mbytes.

Intra-flight data link automatically shares tactical information between four or more Za-45's. Airframe contains provisions for IRST and side-mounted phased-array radar.

Intra-Flight Data Link (IFDL)

Included in the CNI system is an Inter/Intra-Flight Data Link (IFDL) that allows all Za-45's in a flight to share target and system data automatically and without radio calls. One of the original objectives for the Za-45 was to increase the percentage of fighter pilots who make 'kills'.
With the IFDL, each pilot is free to operate more autonomously because, for example, the leader can tell at a glance what his wing man's fuel state is, his weapons remaining, and even the enemy aircraft he has targeted. This link also allows additional Za-45 flights to be added to the net for multi-flight coordinated attack.

AROL-90 Active Electronically Scanning Array
http://www.imageshack.us/img2/4582/arolza.jpg
Featuring active electronic beam scanning — which allows the radar beam to be steered at nearly the speed of light — the AROL-90 will provide increased situational awareness with superior air-to-air and air-to-ground capability for the Za-45E/F aircraft. The radar system is comprosed of numerous solid state transmit and receive modules to virtually eliminate mechanical breakdowns. Its other components include an advanced receiver/exciter, commercial off-the-shelf processor, and power supplies.

[b]With the AROL-90 the pilot will be able to shoot the missile even before the target comes within the missile's range. The AROL-90 radar has been designed to enable the aircrew to detect and process the target, well before it enters the maximum range of the Za-45's air-to-air missiles, allowing missile launch at maximum range.

The AROL-90 electronically scanned array uses a "search while track" methodology that significantly improves track quality of multiple targets with little or no degradation of the search capability of the radar.

The new AROL-90 array searches while it tracks the target on a need-to-track basis, giving a much better multiple target track capability, once the target is found within that volume, the radar automatically schedules periodic look backs keeping track of the target at a much higher level of fidelity and frequency than a mechanically scanned antenna.

In the air-to-ground arena, the improved detection range has resulted in higher resolution Synthetic Aperture Resolution (SAR) maps that are at a higher resolution than the current capability. The aircrew can see minute runway details on the map and can identify aircraft. The new AROL-90 provides very high-resolution maps

it can track 35 targets simultaneously with a range of up to 400km. It also has terrain following and -avoidance. For rear covering, the tail cone houses a Ryazan radar with ability to shoot down missiles from the tail (Export version is a bit downgraded with less range etc..)

Internal Weapons Bays

The weapon bays are all internally concealed (much like a stealth bomber). On the low bottom left and right sides of the aircraft, underneath its wings, are the bays are various AA missiles. The missiles are ejected out by a special mechanism.

The high thrust density 3d-Thrust-vector DF-r55 Pulse Detonation (PDE) Engines

It has the capability of going from subsonic to supersonic/supercruise using less fuel, and it's thermodynamically more efficient.

Long chord, shroud less fan blades: Wider, stronger fan blades eliminate the need for the shroud, a ring of metal around most jet engine fans. Both the wider blades and shroud less design contribute to engine efficiency, and other features
