With the growing volatile state in the NS world, the High Chancellor has recently requested, with the Senate's approval, a plan for three trillion dollars to be spent on various system upgrades and training regimens. The main systems targetted for upgrade are naval sonar and radar weapon integration systems. The AEGIS cruisers and ASW frigates will receive the brunt of funding with other fleet-defense craft getting upgrades as well. The remaining $1.5 trillion or so will be spent on crew training. All ship crews will be trained in two different jobs aboard their ship, so that they can substitute for another should the need arise. Crews will also receive extensive training in how to coordinate their actions with a small contingent of ships and with an entire armada. The majority of the training will, however, focus on training ship pilots and combat crews to work cohesively in extremely large groups of ships. If crews can be trained to operate in such conditions without undue dangers, then this will help to revolutionize modern naval warfare. Various CBG's, AAG's, and Armadas will participate in mock sea battles and in attacking/defending beachheads. Thoreau Isle has been set aside as the sight for practice assaults. Excercises will include live-fire drills and laser-fire simulations. Naval officers from other nations are invited to view some of these training sessions, and all queries should be made through the Ministry of the Imperial Navy (OOC: This thread).
