Keep On Fighting (Revolution in New Empire)

Maybe it wasn't a good idea, he thought.

The group of men had been camping out in the Kurtz jungle for weeks now, recieving news through their cell phones. Each was a native to Kurtz, and the were well armed, all of them had rifles slung over them as they slowly creeped through the underbrush towards the town. Pyotr Maraklov was sweating, and his palms felt moist on the grip of his FN-FAL. But it was too late now, too late. They crawled through a dirty stream, under the road bridge as the lights of the town shone brightly in the dark night. They then emerged from the ditch, and continued towards the police station. A man used is taser to open the electronic lock, and they moved in, silently as they used their training to good effect. Rifles swung left and right as they went through the building, officers immediately flinging up their hands.

The grin on the grime covered face of the man who lead them sent shivers down Pyotr's spine. Many of the officers now understood what was going on as the Police chief was found down a hallway, and stared into the silencer of the pointman's MP5.

"Goddamn you rebels. Goddamn you all to hell."

Nobody outside the building had any clue to his death.
The pointman looked around at the assembled officers as they drew weapons, but did not aim them at the rebels. Instead, they saluted.

"This is it, we're going for it. Radio the other districts to confirm. I don't want anyone seen outside the offices in military clothes. Everything must proceed as it does in our normal lives. We can't give any clue to the sympathizers that it's time."

Former President Dleroes sat in the elm chair on the dock, the spring weather of Desracht quite nice that day. The old mansion sat on one of the smaller islands in the Desracht river delta, and was quiet save for the sounds of the birds, breeze, and waves. A vibrating buzz interrupted the peace as her Tablet PC alerted her to an email from President Kessler.

She read it quickly, already knowing what it was from the first sentence. He had decided to plan a formal celebration and sort of 'introductory' party to become acquainted with foreign leaders and others, and she was invited. Dleroes smiled as she put the little computer down. It was a nice thing to see from Kessler, who had the media circus in town after a violent encounter in Panama. She pushed it out of her mind as she went back to her book.

The rocky plateau were separated by a green valley and clear stream, but those were the only natural things interesting about them. The foothills were dotted with bunkers and automated gun positions, artillery peeked out of their armored caves if their blast doors weren't closed. In the positions on top sat AAA and SAMs, as helicopters and VTOLs occasionally made their way down into the valley and inside the fortified hangar.

The base had a name, Fort Richsen, but ever since the KIA tried to rebel, it was known as it's callsign "Firebase Foxtrot Four One". A series of antenna peeked from the valley, fiberoptically linked to the CIC/C3 center under the north plateau. The marine sat at his computer as he sipped his morning coffee. It had been one day since that night when the KLF rebels took the police stations, but nothing had seemed all that conspicous, until now.

"Sir?"

The BDU outfitted officer walked over to the specialist as he looked at the screen.

"Yes, specialist?"

"Every cop in East Kurtz just stopped using their radios, but there's an increase in encrypted wireless traffic."

"Is the radio system being jammed?"

"Negative. I just tested it with Sestena."

The lieutenant frowned, and then scratched his head.

"Pass it up to Kilo India section," he said, refferring to the DIA Kurtz Intelligence section.

The specialist nodded, and forwarded the information.

The preparation for the celebration was underway, and the local invitees were being called to the government quarter of Berliston. Since the major airport in Desracht were congested, Corinth chose to take a jet powered Seaplane to Berliston. It had already made it's final approach, and was setting down in the water paralell to a large freighter with the words "Olympus Manufacturing" on it's side. There were many, many ships in the harbor that day, and a mass of cranes and loaders worked to keep the facility on schedule. As the aircraft landed, one of the bodyguards, looked out on the freighter, and pulled out an IR beacon, raised it to the window, activated, and put it in his pocket. Things were going as planned.

Somewhere back in Desracht, a bodyguard's corpse lay weighted on the ocean floor, his equipment taken from him.

The crates in the freighter swung open opposite to the seaplane as the IR signal was picked up, men shouting as they opened. Inside were 8 spiderlike objects, with 6 legs, armored carapaces, gun turrets, sensor clusters, and 'forearms' bearing miniguns. Smoke dispensers and SASAM pods were also mounted, as men swung hatches closed, waiting for the convoy leaving the seaplane to approach the dock as the crates were shut closed and electromagnetically rolled onto an elevator, and then rolled onto the dock.

The gates of the dock swung open, the two black SUVs rolling out. In the lead car, the bodyguard drove out of the gates, nearing the crates on the dock. He flicked a tiny switch in his hand, and smoke began to rise from the hood of the car. He got out, the sun beating down on his black vest and uniform, as he popped the hood, drew his HK .45 specops pistol, and popped the man in the passenger seat.

"Ah shit!" swore an agent as he rolled down his window and drew his J-9, the driver backing up, and the president was told to get down.

"Let's go, we need to get the f-"

The first crate burst open, the pair of Olympus Arms Type 209 "Hunter Spider" arming their gatling guns. The forearms spit flame as the 7.62mm rounds riddled the armored glass, and then shattered it, the safety glass preventing the deaths of those in the car, until a piece of metal shrapnel sliced into the throat of the driver. He gurgled and screamed as blood poured out of his wound and mouth, the car slamming into the chainlink fence. The agent in the back kicked open the cargo door of the vehicle as Dleroes ran out, the agents still alive in the car shielding her.
"Rectifier, this is Taxi, we need some help. We got two multipeds here that are armed, and some trucks picking up more crates, I can't see the labels through the smoke. We need backup now!"

The trucks, heavy lift versions, were now speeding towards the tunnel system, the operators of the weapons inside hoping they wouldn't be caught.

Rectifier was actually a group of four A/V-46C Wasp IIIs, armed with LIDAR, Xray, EMS, and Athena stealthing. Each carried 8 SASAMs, 24 70mm Rockets, and 4 HyVeloc AAMs to accompany their 25mm cannon. The aircraft were in fixed wing mode, speeding towards the docks as they armed their weapons, and then switched to rotor as the PDS guns of the spidertanks lit up the sky with tracers. The lead chopper switched to the hypervelocity 7cm rockets, lining up the targeting brackets on the first tank. A swarm of the weapons leaped down towards the robotic vehicle, and then ripped it apart in a fireball. The second one was beginning to move as the first SASAM missile slammed into it at top attack mode.

"Taxi, this is Rectifier lead, they're wasted. We're moving to do a perimeter-"

The squadron was rocked as the shockwave and heatwave from the huge explosion hit. Upon a radio signal, the huge amounts of SLHEX explosive put on the ship as yet another boobytrap detonated. The SUVs went flying, and loading equipment was thrown into the seas and roads as the KLF got it's last laugh.

The paramedic teams were quick to arrive, hoisting the wounded, unconcious bodies of the agents and the ex president onto stretchers. Firefighting teams worked madly to estinguish the blaze onboard the freighter as the ambulance pulled up, and the victims were placed into it.

Nobody had intercepted the cargo trucks.

[There is no indication so far that the KLF attacks have been supplied by foreign powers. The weaponry used in the attacks were manufactured by Olympus Manufacturing-Armarment Division and local Kurtz armories. Special Operations will not be able to gather intelligence, as they use modern methods for operations and communication. Attempting to infiltrate Kurtz groups will be very difficult, as their ethnicity is very unique and the last time we hired an ethnic Kurtzian to attempt and infiltrate the group, the investigation by the KLF groups lead to his death. We will contact you if the need for your men arises.]

[March 23rd]
Berliston-In a shocking display of terrorism, the ex-president of New Empire, Corinth Dleroes, was attacked while traveling to a meeting with the current president via seaplane. There are reports the attack was carried out by a group with advanced mobile weapons. During the response to the attack, a transport ship nearby exploded, apparently rigged. Although the government has not named names, analysts believes the KLF is responsible.

[March 24th]
Kaparan, Kurtz-As a response to today's statement by the DIA and Home Defense Department accusing the KLF as the perpetrators of the attack, and that they were aided by the Kurtz Local government, Governor Hans Kryek made his own statement.
"These statements... Are false and biased. This is just one more step in the conspiracy against Kurtz... That has been in effect since 1875. They seek to find reasons to further their control over us, and exploit the people and resources of this nation. This will not stand, and we will not stand for these lies and this slander."
Spontaneous demonstrations took place, with up to 500,000 in attendance. The people took to the streets of the capital to protest the UCSNE policies in Kurtz and President Alex Kessler. While there were many reports of burinings and vandalism against UCSNE related property and objects, the police were slow to respond, and no arrests were made.

OOC: NE, It has been a while and the reason for my absense is going to be blaimed on the Civil Unrest that was going on in the CLF. Ill make a super short summary. (it has relivance)

Chancellor O'Connor(Head of State)'s brother tried to start a coup, he took some of the military with him(defense forces) O'Connor was advised to isolate the naiton from everyone else on his best interests of re taking power.
The rest is foggy to everyone who isnt in the inner rings of the CLF government(seeing as there was a giant period of isolation) So Military Forces abroad were given orders to hold thier posts and wait for other orders... O'Connor is back in power ant the CLF is mostly the same...Mostly So If its okay wiht you, my Forces at Sestena Naval Base and Firebase Foxtrot Four One, will just now recieve new orders....

The CLF 1st AACBG(Amphibious Assault Carrier Battle Group) sat docked at the Sestena Naval base...it had been months since thier last orders from Central command were issued, Rumors had reached them, but so far all attempts to communicate with home didnt get response... Admiral Brehm walked on board the Chafee with his morning coffee from the Naval Base's mess hall. He was almost run down by an young ensign, Baker was his name. He was the officer of the watch while the Admiral was out and doing his morning duties. Baker was starteled as he turned the corner on thegangplank to the deck.

"Whoa! Admiral Sir, I'm sorry...but theres news! And...and orders!"
"Slow down baker, take a breath and follow me to the bridge, and brign me a copy of the orders"
The two officers walked up and into the ship, through the bulk heads until they finally reached the bridge. The NENN broadcasts were playing, and the ensign handed the Admiral the orders.

Orders Direct Wired to the 1st AACBG under Admiral Brehm or the current CO

ETE/CLF Central Command wants a full status report and update on all field elements. The after clearence from CC report to NE Central Command for orders on how to assist thier situation.

Admiral Seamus MacDonnell sat at his desk, tapping through the files on the unrest. Outside, his window to Sestena showed the shining hull of the Alex Kessler, the newest in the line of the CVSN-91 series Submersible carrier. The beautiful ocean and shining metal provided a much better view to that of the other side. Protestors lined the gates of Sestena, as Tachikoma MA units watched for any violence.

The CLF 1st AACBG had been in port, even through changes in command. But crisis was brewing, and the last time such a crisis had come, there had been CLF action. With their fightng spirit, it was not long, he knew, until the CLF came asking for how to help.

He just hoped they wouldn't need to.

In the jungle outside Foxtrot, Pyotr once more sat in the jungle, assembling weapons with his team. He had been chosen by the officer in charge of his section to spot for the artillery, should they think they could penentrate the fortress. It looked intimidating, walls of solid rock with the barrels of modified Naval ETC guns peeking out. He sighed as the last round of 7.62mm was snapped into the 30 round magazine of his FAL, and then inserted the magazine into the rifle. They all wore ghille suits, and their guns were adorned with greenery to break up their outlines. It would take more than just camoflauge, Pyotr thought, to survive this.

If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break,
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break,

PFC Valdez sat at his post, one hand always on the control for the remotely operated minigun above him in the camoflauged bunker. Reports of a Kurtz attack in the area had been frequent, but there had been no sign of violent attacks. Even so, it was nice to be in a bunker, controlling a 7.26mm six barrelled weapon. He continued to chew on his gum, occasionally blowing a bubble.

"Hey, Valdez, you got any more of that?"

Corporal Brucker was the sensors operator for this shift, and had his feet kicked up on his desk as the readings flooded in from their perimeter sector.

"Yeah, hold on." spoke the Private First Class as he withdrew a half finished packet of chewing gum, and tossed it to the Corporal.

"Thanks."

The two sat in relative silence in the grey room, with it's ladder to the overground bunker and blinking monitors. A rumble, followed by a new mass of data. Corporal Brucker's half chewed gum fell from his mouth.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

The largest, most packed highway in Kurtz snaked through mountain passes, both natural and artificial. The roadway in Eastern Kurtz was always packed for rush hour, and the huge military convoy wasn't helping much. A perimeter along the column was made, and the pace was too slow for many commuters. As one man cursed to himself, he noticed two men running from the highway bridges ahead, onto a boat in the river. He shrugged, and reached to change the radio channel.

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.

The series of Fuel Air Explosive that had been deposited along the bridges detonated simeltaneously, sending concrete into the air as the bridge, and the convoy, was engulfed in flames. The munitions carried in the vehicles only added to the firestorm as the secondaries made the initial detonations look like firecrackers. Ironically, the convoy was carrying munitions confiscated from a Kurtz vessel out towards Firebase Foxtrot, but they still did the job they were intended for.

Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.

The men in the boats ducked as the shockwave hit, and then looked back to see what they had created. pillars of fire reached into the air, as if trying to pull heaven into hell. As their boat stabilized, one piced up his cell phone.

"We've done it. Begin."

The major was an old man, and despite having the command of so much firepower, found his command of a KDF artillery battery quite boring. They got in a few practice rounds every so often, but it wasn't much excitement. The fact so many of his subordinates were hardline nationalists only made the task more annoying, and one of them, a Lieutenant, was approaching now. He saluted, and handed the major a piece of paper.

"'Orders from command-Begin bombardment of enemy held territories, start with Grid Foxtrot Four-', what is this madness?"

The Lieutenant scowled, looking the Major in the eye.

"Our orders to begin the liberation of our nation, sir."

"I will have no part in it, you cannot expect me to begin a-"

The sharp cracks resounded through the camp, and before anyone heard them, the guns were already training on Firebase Foxtrot.

All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
Thinkin' about me baby and my happy home.
Going, going to Chicago... Going to Chicago... Sorry but I can't take you...
Going down... going down now... going down....

The sirens at Firebase Foxtrot Four-One pierced the air as men ran to their positions, and blast doors opened or closed, depending on their purpose. The huge Metalstorm guns and 255mm ETC Cannon were now active, zeroing in on the KDF artillery postions that may begin their assault. They sat tense for 3 minutes in their positions, some watching the smoke from the convoy rise into the air. First was the series of flashes and puffs in the twilight horizon.

"Incoming! I want all batteries to track onto the positions you've been assigned, and open-"

The entire fortress rang like a bell as artillery shells impacted on it. Even the extended range 155mm rounds did nothing more than scar it as the men inside prepared their guns. One, a 155mm Metalstorm gun, was being loaded with STAFF Cluster rounds, slammed into the muzzles of the boxlike weapon.

"Gun loaded!"

"Egress from Stabilizers!"

The crew leaped from the hydraulic stabilization mount as the gunner worked on the control console.

"Target set, firing 20 round burst!"

The roar of twenty 155mm shells being fired within one second was quite a test for the ears of even the most experienced crews. The shells lanced over the green, towards some unseen destination.

The shrieks sounded like hordes of banshees, the corporal thought as he tried to reload the gun that had just fired on Firebase Foxtrot. He had only heard rumors of the artillery that could fire like machineguns, but never in a thousand years would the unearthly howl of that many incoming rounds been plausible to him.

"What do we do?" asked a nervous crew member as he contemplated the noise.

"They're Sublet rounds, the corporal replied," I'd make a run for it. They'll kill you with flechettes, and the arty with Top Attack Penentrators."

The lieutenant, pacing the battery, drew his pistol, his face grim.

"There will be no such treason on my-" he had not even finished his sentence as the Corporal dashed for the rock outcroppings, the shriek growing ever louder. The Lieutenant, frustrated, swung his pistol around, and- fell apart. His chest was cleaved from his ribs and spine by the hypervelocity flechettes, and his arms and legs nearly distintigrated in a cloud of gray and red mist. The private was incinerated in the blast created by the TAPs slamming on their ammo carriers, and the artillery were mangled like dog chew toys by similar rounds. The corporal was horrified, but could not tear his eyes away from the carnage. He sat behind the rock as the dead and dying burned and suffered in the fields. A UAV drone, hovering on it's tiltrotors, buzzed over the scene, taking a few photos. The corporal hoped the pictures sent back would not warrant another strike. But the shrieks from the first volley would stay with him forever.

Admiral Brehm Called his Chopper CAG to his ready-room. Lieutenant Colonel Ambrose(one of the few Marine Corps Officers to be a CAG). Stephen Ambrose was a hardened veteran, and if he didnt have what has been reffered to as a "streak" in him, he would have made Lieutenant General by now, not Lieutenant Colonel. The Admiral was standign behind his desk looking out a porthole as the Marine Officer walked in and saluted. The Admiral Retruned the salute and pointed to the chair motioning for him to take a seat.

LtC. Ambrose ignored the motion as he began to speak, "With all due respect sir, now that the rebels are making stikes again, it has been worrying the men of our distances, and with the order to increase the alert readiness...I have alot to do."
The Admiral chuckled, "Yes I know Stephen, and that is exactly what I wanted to speak to you about. Obviously these rebels are stepping up thier efforts. Last night, the firebase was hit by an artillery attack. Very minimal stuctural damage, no causualties. But the fact is, Ambrose it is becomming quite clear that a major action is about to be taken. And I dont want my men caught on thier heels. I am about to contact NE command here at Kurtz to get us in a more active role...I just want my choppers ready to rock, you know you boys are the backbone of our forces here. That is all Ambrose, Dismissed."

Admiral Brehm did as he said and sent a communication to the NE command asking what they could do to help more activley. And the CLF Fores readied for battle.

The PFC was wearing Model 396 ORC Battle Armor, and brandished a MG59 6.5mmx50mm Medium Machinegun. His squad carried M32A5 rifles and M9 Carbines of similar caliber, and were equally protected. They couched behind sandbags as the roving militia grew. They were still for a minute, as a rumble slowly grew. Rooster tails of dust appeared on the horizon, as a pair of Boxer-K APCs/IFVs began to move up, KDF markings on the side.

The Monitor surfaced some 80 miles off the northern coast of the UCSNE, and deploys both sea-borne and air-borne early warning craft to patrol and extend the fleet coverage as greatly as possible. Having heard of the chaos in the city of Sestena, Admiral Hilton, commander of the Monitor battlegroup, ordered a rapid response team to be assembled and launched.

Three Typhoon transports, filled with the Monitor's compliment of Royal Marines, all wearing tactical combat helmets and heavy body armour, armed with a variety of weapons, launch from the Monitor, and almost immediately, a full squadron of Peacekeeper A/S-19Es formed into escort positions, wings bristling with SEAD, ATA, and ATG weaponry.

The UAV droned over the city as tracers raced up to meet it. At least 50 AFVs of varying types, and hundreds of militia and soldiers were moving towards the chokepoints at the base gates. Artillery, however, was quiet. The metalstorm 155mms and 105mms of the cruisers and destroyers were quick to greet every mortar and SPH round with a wall of lead.

Over Sestena, the two F/S-39 Storm Riders slowed to Mach 1 as their LIDAR lit up the screen.

"Homeplate, we've got 4 Berkuts coming in on that UAV, we're engaging."

"Roger that Mustang flight, you're free to engage."

The two aircraft activated Athena and their photocell camoflauge, becoming blurs that no longer came up on radar. Each armed their "Coffin Nail" MREMs, and painted two aircraft.

A streak of fire lanced from a Berkut's nose, and the UAV burst into flaming shrapnel. The two F/S-39s banked, activating their MREMs. The lead aircraft dropped it's two, and the variable guided missiles used their thrust vectoring to move to the best angle of attack. The Berkuts never made it, but the other two did. They came around, launching an AAM at the lead aircraft. The radar guided missiles did no good, and streaked past before incinerating in their own fireballs as they ran out of fuel. Two more MREMs lept from the other Storm Rider, chasing towards the Berkuts. One was lucky, and seemed to avoid the missile... Until it swung around and penentrated the nose, burning the pilot before bursting the plane apart. The next Berkut went into a near vertical climb, seeming to outrun the missile... Until it switched to IR and crawled into the tailpipe. The two pilots eyed the columns of armor, wishing they had AGMs or GBUs onboard. It was going to be a long night.

The Typhoons raced across the countryside, two Peacekeepers flying point SEAD, four flying high patrol, two way out on the port side, two way out on the starboard side, and two covering the rear sector.

Meanwhile, two hundred miles north of McLeodia, a single MEB-1C Mothership, escorted by two AL-52 Dragons, roared into the night sky, heading for New Empire, and the mission theatre.

The tail end vehicle was a worn out old 9M111 Pantsyr S1, carrying an 8 pack of SA-19 missiles. They had not activated their new Radar systems that had been rigged onto the vehicle, but as the roars of jet engines increased, they knew most of them were not friendly. Two large signatures, with eight smaller ones escorting them were racing across the island.

A commander screamed as the radars were activated, and the 9M111 Pantsyr S1 began to track the transports and their fighters. Hopefully, none of them were equipped for 'Wild Weasel' missions, but whatever was in those transports or bombers could not be good.

The mobile launchers were annihalated, but the emplaced postions shrugged off everything but the bunker bursters, which destroyed 3 SA-20 Triumf. The other 8 switched to the new SAR guidance, which were not tracked by American built HARM and ALARM weapons. The 8 missiles raced towards the aircraft, and even the stealth aircraft were not safe. The older radars of the base could detect the vortices created by stealth designs, and the rest of the base opened up with 20 SA-19, and 5 Tactical High Energy Laser positions lanced out to meet the fighters.

A group of 20 Su-47 Berkut and 20 Mig 1.42 aircraft were called up from the Kurtz Airbases. Each used Soviet Plasma Stealth, and were more manuverable than the F-22 or F/A-117 fighters. They screamed over the treetops, waiting to come into engagement range of the Illioran fighters.

"Search radar, one o'clock. Red Three, Fox Four, Fox Four" crackled the radio in the cockpit of Red One, the escort leader. Peering ahead, he saw the missile drop from the wing of one of his fellow pilots, milliseconds before its motor fired, and the missile streaked off into the distance.

On the call of radar activation, the three bulky transports broke and heading immediately downwards, activating COLA and flitting between hills, the troopers in the transport bays being thrown around wildly, causing numerous bruises and a mild concussion.

The two SEAD aircraft accelerated away from the group, hunting down the air-search radars ahead. The other adjusted formation slowly, to cover the gap left behind.

The SA-19 operator, in a panic, threw the switches on his missile control panel and fired off all 8, letting them choose their own targets. The eight projectiles accelerated into the twilight, as the crews leaped from the aging vehicle before the Mcleodian missile blew it into pieces. The guns of the column, the other missile vehicles afraid to turn on their radars, lit up as tracers snaked towards the McLeodian aircraft. Everything from 7.62mm Miniguns to 40mm Bofors guns reached for the aircraft as the scouts radioed a report of something much worse... B-52 like aircraft approaching.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE OUR FIGHTERS?" The commander, sitting in the C3 room of the entrenched command post, was red as his beret with rage. "How do you know they're from Illior?"

"UCSNE has more sense than to send F-117s against Berkuts."

The commander smiled. It was an entertaining thought. The fighters had been upgraded a long time ago with technologies that made American aircraft look like windup toys. Only through massive superior numbers could they hope to fully secure the plains. But perhaps the Illiorans had upgraded? He sighed, and looked over the map.

As the bombs and artillery fell, man did in minutes something that took nature millenia. Mountains crumbled in avalanches. Forests burned in massive fires. As the Illioran aircraft launched their payloads, the fighters began to drop from the skies in bursts of sporadic light. 7 Su-47s and 10 Mig 1.42/44s were lost, only two Su-47 pilots got a chance to eject.

"Oh, man. We have a situation. Gimme that SRM!"

OOC: Sorry it took me so long to respond, busy day yesterday....

I am going to guess when you said 4 anti-shipping missles came from thier pylons, you meant 4 total....

The AACBG went on elevated alert status just hours before the strike, and luckily that decision most likely saved many sailors lives. CIWS systems were the only weapons ready to fire on missles inbound for the task force.
The first of the missles screamed towards the WASP Carrier Chafee, the warhead was destroyed too late and the body of the missle, along with the explosion from the warhead tore into the hull, breaching above the water line by 6 inches.
2 more missles were headed for the onle destroyer that was hit in Kurtz before this attack. The CWIS system really needed to be checked, because both missles slammed into the hull making the ship almost roll. Bulkheads were sealed and the ship was stableized, but the damage was done.
Being docked had its evident defense advatages this day, a missle inbound for a second destroyer hit the dock and exploded too soon, killing 7 sailors.

[Total Losses: 112 sailors, one destroyer out of action(for a while)]

The Admiral hung on to his desk as the ship rattled from the missle impact. The Task force went on red alert as the Admiral rushed to the bridge, on his way bumping into his CAG Ambrose once again.

The Admiral took command in seconds, "Ensign step down. Petty Officer, status report! Coms! Alert all vessels, full alert! I want ASW Choppers Airborne now! Ambrose, get 2 squadrons up, the Wasps.
Sailor, connect me to Firebase Foxtrot. And get me Major Ward!"

Major Ward was the AACBG's Marine Brigade's Commadnimg Officer. When he heard his name called over the ships loud speaker, he put his weapon down, and rushed up the stairs out of the compartment, behind him was the rest of the brigade, 4.000 marines and thier equpment, prepping for whatever was to come.
The Major got to the brige and went stifly to attention.
"Reporting as ordered sir!"
The Admiral turned around to the Saluting officer and returned the salute, "Major, it is simple, those damn rebels are about to over run the NE marines down there, and now we have more than enough reason to get involved, so thats exactly what I intend to do! I want to re-enforce thier lines. Thier chokepoint reffered to as 'first base' is particular peril, and I will not see it fall. 800 is what you have to work with for now Major. Dismissed!"
The Major quickly left the bridge and hurried back down to the troop compartment and issued his orders. What he reffered to as his 'spear head' were the men he was choosing to land first. He was going go command them in person.
As the marines came off the gang-planks, the cargo cranes unloaded thier vehicles.

Landed on Sestena's Docks:
800 Marines
45 KAT-50W's(APC's)
20 KAF-90F's(MBT's)

They began to roll into the cuty, 3 Convoys went to 3 different destinations. Whiskey Convoy to 1st base, Juno to 2nd, and Bravo to 3rd. Whskey and Juno each had 7 KAFs and 15 KATs while Bravo had 6 KAFs and 15 KATs, they would be to thier waypoints in 15 minutes, if all went well.

Back on the Chafee 2 Sqadrons of Wasp II's took off from the deck in chopper mode, and quickly went fixed wing, flying CAP over the Task Force and the dock area, while the repairs began on the ships.

LF, that's Sestena. The black box is the perimeter area. Gray squares are urban. The gray splotches represent ruins from the fighting. The convoy is in the brightish red, the more concentrated area representing the forward infantry positions (500 KDF trained troops), and about 10 IFVs. Farther up, there are 40 more AFVs (And 1k KDF troops), with a second wave coming in (Not pictured). The dark red is militia, about 2k of them, with nothing more powerful than an RPG. Current trained KDF equipment is Steyr AUG assault rifles, American ceramic body armor. The 10 IFVs are modified Boxers, there are 9 M109 Paladin, 20 Leopard II, and there was one SA-19 vehicle, but it got wasted. There are also 10 T-90 tanks. They've got no air support, arty conists of 9 M109, and a few 66mm and 81mm Mortars. Need anything else?

IC-
"First Base" as it was called, was the main entrance to the Naval yards. It was an elevated position, but even so, the merciless pounding of the 25mm guns of the Boxer K IFVs was beginning to take it's toll. From that area alone, 10 men lay dead as bullets cracked by.

The corporal put the SRM to his shoulder, and fired. A Boxer exploded, as the men around it flailed and screamed. He dropped the single shot launcher, as their ammunition for the weapon was expended. He grabbed his ATAR, and peered down the digital scope, lining up the KDF infantry and firing 3 round bursts of the 6.5mm rounds. The hammer of the squads MG59 was beginning to subside as belted 6.5 withered away.

"Too many goddamn militia! We need more ammo!"

"Wilson, get down to the Dugout, see if you can scrounge up some belted Six Five! And some SRMs while you're at it!"

The Private nodded as the Sgt. shouldered his M9 Carbine.

"Squad, Covering fire!"

The withering hail of lead descended upon the militia and KDF troops as Wilson ran down the hill towards the supply point. Then, another rumble was heard. Not the rumble of the diesel engines of the KDF vehicles, but that of a hydrogen engine. The Corporal was turned around, slapping another magazine into his rifle, when he saw the shape of the KAF-90F tank, and the KAT APCs.

"YEAH! Put some ETC on those pricks!"

The Sgt. smiled as he saw the CLF markings on the AFVs, and knew their marines couldn't be far behind.

"Y'know, for a second, I thought we were SOL."

3rd base was a ruined memorial park, the stone walls and monuments providing adequate cover from the fire of rebel weapons. There had been 4 Boxer Ks, but two were destroyed as they attempted to make their way through the ruined morass of the gate entrances. Now the remaining two sat, occcasionally sniping as MG rounds hammered all around. The soldiers were equally joyed by the CLF tanks, and the fight continued.

2nd Base, on the other hand, was just in downright siege. It was farthest north, and while the entire set up of the perimeter points didn't make for any normal looking diamond, the hastily thought up callsigns had to do. The walls of the compound were not fired upon, as the group traded mortar rounds with the militia attempting to cross the bridge. The new automortars, breech loading and clip fed, were useful. They were mounted on small autostabilizing platforms, and once enemy mortar rounds were fired, the ballistic computers locked in and returned with their own 100mm rounds.

"Sir!" called a private to the platoon commander, "We've got CLF armor moving up! We've got orders from command to counterattack the militia."

"Well, let's do it then. Get me in contact with the convoy commander."

In southern kurtz, the heavily defended airfield sat ready for the incoming 'aid' shipments. There were EW aircraft up, all jamming the area. The rainy weather would mask most of their activities from satellites, and they were far out of range of firebase foxtrot.

"IEB Flight one, you have permission to land."

As tracer fire ripped up towards them, the two front most Peacekeepers launch a single Wolverine cruise missile each, and the two missiles streak up the armoured convoy, spraying a fine mist over the length of the convoy, then exploding into a massive elongated FAE type explosion.

Meanwhile, two miles away, the Typhoons flare suddenly, and slam into the ground, troops spilling out of the drop ramp and side doors, guns up, looking for targets.

5 Paladins and 5 T-90 burst into flame as the FAE misted over them. The armored vehicles broke convoy, driving over cars and rubble to avoid the screaming fighters.

At the southwestern highlands, the series of 4 camoflauged trucks rolled through the woods. They each towed a 155mm Howitzer, and were full of ammunition. A scout vehicle with a 'periscope' targeting system was the most forward vehicle. Behind were two MLRS vehicles, and two more trucks of ammunition. The men got out, and began to deploy their artillery systems, looking for the best target.

Each of the Convoys rolled in the same fashion, the armor at the front, and the AFV's close behind. As Juno came into cover-fire range with the platoon at second base, Major Ward got on the comm from his APC, it was in the lead. He tried to contact the platoon leader. The Armor in the front was given orders to lay down ETC fire at once, just over the heads of the NE marines. The first of the 80mm cannons went off, followed by the others. After 2 salvos of each, Ward gave the order to unload. 240 Marines began to exit thier vehicles, the first two keeping an eye out for any threat, thier ATAR's at thier shoulders ready to fire. Ward exited his APC third, and lead his men over to the rear of the NE marines. Ward slamed down next to the private who spotted his convoy as he let out a burst at a brave, but stupid rebel. The other CLF Marines did the same, taking cover, and establishing fire positions.
When the infantry was settled, the Tanks moved into position getting ready to advance. The APC's kept thier gates open, ready to load up on soldiers again, it would be an old fashioned blitz.

A young Lieutenant, by the name of Collins was in charge of Bravo, as they came upon third base at the memorial park. The Lead Tanks got locks on the remaing two boxers and asked permission to fire, the lieutenant responded,
"Give em hell Sergeant, I dont plan on getting held down here all day, dinner in the hall is already sounding good to me."
The Idea of food has a very strong motivational effect on a soldier during a skirmish, the tanks fired 2 shots each at the remaining rebel vehicles, they planned on putting down these rebels well before dinner time. The Lieutenant likewise attempted to contact the Commander of the Marines at 2nd base, but from Inside his APC, he planned on a counter attack as well, and didnt want to waste time, he planned on punching through the holes made by the tanks, and having the NE marines come in behind the Mobile Infantry.

At First base, Wilson was not disapointed, Captain Dias, was a veteran marine, but claimed she was still only a captain because she was a woman. She had already ordered the tank commanders to open fire on enemy positions as soon as they were in range, they flattened out into an interlocking fire-line, and began to do so, the endless pounding began, a rythm of perfect timing, order was being brough to chaos. As a CLF Marine Corps Tradition, Dias was on of the first to step onto the battle field, as she ran towards wilson, out of the APC's dozens of marines followed suit. As soon as the APC's were unloaded, they readied to go up the hill, and provide heavier MG fire for the troops pinned down there As she got closer to Wilson, he could hear her yelling.
"Wheres your CO?!"

At second base, the Marines were glad to see the presence of armor. A Lieutenant, the Platoon CO, ran over towards the Private and Major Ward, his M9 Carbine always pointed down towards the enemy.

"Major! Boy is it nice to see you guys. We've got about 100 militia down there, some light mortars, RPGs, SAWs. We've got orders to move across and take that bridge. You think you can give 'em a reason to keep their heads down?"

The two Boxers exploded as the KDF troops began to pull back. The marines took advantage of the lull in the gunfire, and began advancing through the park, using statues and trees for cover. An MG team leaped into a shallow creek, setting up their MG59 as fast as they could, letting the rounds scream downrange. It was night now, and many of the soldiers, knowing murphy's laws well, chose their helmet and gun optics over tracers, except for the MG positions, which were almost untouchable now that the Boxers were gone.

Wilson looked up as the ringing subsided from his hearing.

"Yeah, our CO's gone. Ell-tee took a Bushmaster round... Sh*t. Sargeant Van Hersten's in charge now, he's up at the forward position. I got sent for some belted 6.5 ammo, our MGs are running low."

The CLF fire ripped the light armor to shreds as the KDF pulled back. The light from the McLeodian FAE still persisted, lighting up the city. A tiltrotor UAV buzzed overhead, towards the broken column, occasional fingers of orange tracer reaching up to meet it. Dark clouds were on the horizon, more than usual for the islands. The majority of the range was quite low, meaning that the entire area was often doused in the early showers of monsoon season.

"Well thank god they got here... That's all I have to say."

Major James Teller, commanding officer of the NEMC Company on the island, sat in the base hospital, a medic removing stitching shrapnel wounds from his shin and shoulder.

The second in command, a lanky Lieutenant from the Montascus Academy, stood by him as the Major went over hte reports.

"We're following through with the counterattack at 2nd Base, 3rd and 1st will get into it soon."

"Casualties?"

"Maybe 20 men... They've held out pretty well, since the convoy hasn't made it here yet."

"They shouldn't pose too much trouble for the CLF Armor. I wanna get out of here and check on the progress. I'm gonna head to the CIC, and then overview the fronts."

"Sir," the medic said, "I wouldn't advise putting too much weight on your leg."

"Don't bullsh*t me. Where are my boots?"

Their won't be enough time for the KDF to make an intercept as large as they did the last time, and there will be less SAMs.. The 2nd Armored had 40 Boxer-K, and 30 Leopard II tanks. It's companion unit, the 4th Infatntry, had 3,500 soldiers, and 20 Boxer-K variant vehicles. They had been waiting in the foot hills of the mountains for the paradrops to be made, and began their advance, coming at the Illior forces from the south and the west. The jungle had been lit up with flames, but it was no concern to them. As the barrage subsided and the troops began to descend, they advanced. 20 155mm guns thundered out at the Illior LZ.

The spearheads were groups of Boxer-K AFVs with Leopard II MBTs. 4 Rooivalk Attack choppers were on call, waiting for their chance. They were well equipped, many with NVG goggles and thermal viewers. They had American Ceramic armor, and Austrian Steyr AUG assault rifles.

"You seeing this?" whispered the spotter in the scout/sniper team. Flashes from the artillery breifly illuminated the hills as rounds screamed towrads the plains. Through his thermal viewer, he could see the mass of armored vehicles descending on the plains. The two lay still on the crest of the forested hill, their camoflauge helping them blend in to the night scene. The sniper looked over with his own Thermal/Digital scope on his M-27, and nodded to the spotter. The spotter pressed a button on his encrypted datalink as it accessed WarNet.

"Illior forces, the aircraft movement is not-"

The IR image of a series of THEL Tactical lasers lanced up towards the fighters looked like fingers of light reaching for the aicraft, deadly accurate with IR and LIDAR guidance.

"Sh*t! I'm counting 12 Zap Tracks!"

The 12 M113 had large spotlight like devices, pulsing out laser beams every once in awhile. A series of radar flares, decoy systems, and Arena II bursts made sure only 10 Leopard II and 12 Boxer K were destroyed, as the infantry took cover in the rocky foothills, but still losing many dozens. The shriek of 40 missiles, from 20 Su-47 Berkut 50 miles away from the combat, joined the fray as the KDF air support arrived.

"Illior Forces, this is Firebase Foxtrot. We cannot provide you with Marine support, we're under heavy bombardment at this time. We will attempt to provide 255 support fire, but you guys are pretty far north!"

The Lieutenant nodded to ward, then put his Carbine to his shoulder as he fired a single round into the chest of a rebel running across the street.

"We don't need to load up, just take your armor across the bridge, we'll be right behind you. We've got two-"

A huge blast, followed by a chunk of the corner of a building being vaporized, and a body deprived of upper body falling to the ground.

"-Snipers with AMRs taking out their AT. In a second, you'll have nothing to worry about when it comes to ATMs."

Two more sharp cracks and blasts followed, the rebels beginning to retreat from their positions.

"MORTARS! Lay down some cover fire on the other side of the bridge! Alpha and Bravo, on me! Let's go!" The Lieutenant turned to the Major as the soldiers moved from their positions. "We're ready. Let's do this thing."

Wilson turned to Dias, and then nodded.

"He's up at the emplacement to the left. I'll be there in a second!"

The private ran towards the armored bunker, and grabbed two bags of 6.5mm Ammunition, hefting one over each shoulder. He ran towards the positions, tossing one bag to his squads 'gunner, and another to the other MG59 team.

"Sarge, this is a CLF Captain, in charge of their armor here."

As the armored vehicles rushed forwards, they hoped by the time the Tomahawks got close, they would have to abort the launch or risk hurting their own men with the blasts.

"Damnit, Illior forces, call off your strikes! You could hurt your own men soon! You need to call off your strikes! We can't use arty or we'll splash you too! Try and engage them with your own guns, they don't have a defense against that!"

Ward nodded in agreement as he began to fall back towards the APCs...

"Roger that Lieutenant, good plan. I'm going to load my boys up, when my armor punches through, we will flood in and hit thier rear. When we give the signal, if you cold advance, we would crush them here, and take the maximum number of prisoners. Hopefully we can lower thier morale, being mostly milita and all. So you want an armor punch? Got it. Nuts to them eh?!"
The Major began to jog back towards the APCs, which were ociasinally letting out burts with thier top guns. He reached up to his left ear to press on the ear piece as he gave the orders for his marines to follow him.

Captain Dias took cover opposite the Sergeant,

"Looks like its getting a little sticky eh Sarge? Listen, I'm not here to take command, its your call son, what now?"

Dias expected the Sgt. to be blown away by the volunteering officer to take second under an NCO.

Delta, concentrate mortar 60 meters ahead of the front advance, Hernandez, Keller, you guys hear me?"

Hernandez was still looking down the scope of his rifle, waiting for a target.

"Yeah El-Tee?"

"Take the left, Diego. Keller?"

Sgt. Deunan Keller snapped another 20mm round magazine into her rifle, her Battle Armor laden with ammo. Gunfire snapped around the rubble she crouched behind, and shell casings littered the ground.

"Yo?"

"Take the right. All units, advance after the LF Marines. Let's move!"

Van Hersten turned from his position, the barking of his ATAR coming to a halt as he listened to the Captain.

"Huh? Did I hear you right, ma'am?" he adjusted his helmet, and looked back at the advancing columns.

"Well, your 20mm co-ax should be able to wipe out those APCs, and just clear out the armor for the first few blocks. I'm gonna call some Storm on the rest." He turned on his radio, switching to the Naval frequency.

"Hey, squids, you got that 'Stormie working yet?"

"Yeah dogface, we've got the One Five Fives up. You lase it, we blaze it."

"Right then, grids Sierra Nine through 8, do it!"

A new sound was heard, the rumbling of real thunder, the flashes of real lightning, and the horrible rains and winds of a Kurtz monsoon. The 5 Rooivalk helicopters were forced to land back at their airstrips. The monsoons were dangerous for any aircraft, and the KDF fighters ascended to try and avoid the storm that would foul most sensors anyway. Things were about to get messier.
, 25 illiorian casualties, 3 helo's down, all EVAC and,the illioran MLR, fired over 5000 rounds average a person, as the KDF advanced,
"firebase foxtrot, me need fire support NOW! we are about to be overrun, we need support NOW we are expecting to pull back into a smaller radius soon, we are soon to be overrun, you are our closest support , we need asssistance! send marines"
several wild weasels, flying at the lowest possible flight level swoop in for a last misssle run, and gun run,(way below radar)

The Wild Weasels (I assume you're using them for the missions they're designed for, which is for killing radars.) managed to hit with their guns, but their radar seeking missiles hit nothing. KDF defense forces knew the amount of countermeasures and storm weather made radar all but useless, and it was turned off.

Another two Boxer-Ks were destroyed, their flames adding to the chaos as 15 men lost their lives. The smoke and fire obscured the whole area as fingers of tracers leaped towards the sky.

"Illior forces, we can provide support, but be advised, you will be in the killzone! The only artillery we have in range is mass area of effect!"

The wild weasels weren't used for their true mission, all four of them carried anti-tank (instead of anti radar) and anti-personnell)
"call it off!, all teams open fire as soon as they hit the plains!"
"NE, we need reinforcements, please try to get em here!"

The massive armored columns lingered in the foothills, using the rocks and hills to take cover or move into hull down postion. They waited as the units all moved into place, the howling winds and rain making their requests for air support impossible. It would have to be a ground battle from here on out.

"Fire!"

Every gun in the force opened up, spewing rounds down towards the Illior forces as 120mm mortar rounds began to scream towards their position. The tracer lines illuminated the fog and rain in strange glows as the sounds of man made thunder added to nature's fury.

"Illior forces... You landed too far north We're Hundreds of miles away... Too dangerous for aircraft... Under bombardment."

The message from the firebase was hard to comprehend as the base shook from artillery fire, both incoming and outgoing.

OOC-I'll have a longer post when you respond to the forces opening fire... And when LF gets back (I don't want to move too far ahead without him, the Battle of Sestena is important.
IC-

"Illior... Illior forces. Are you recieving?" The frustrated comms officer looked at his CO, and then at the status reports.

"What's the weather? Do you think we can mount reinforcements?"

The G-3 shrugged, scratching his head.

"If you're suicidal. Anything that walks out there is bound to be wasted by shrapnel, and it's just as bad trying to fly... Best chance is to let the 'soon clear up so we can mount some air support. Until then, it might be best to hold tight."
