OOC: This has nothing to do with anyone who controls Lebanon now, etc.

Background Info: For several months, Lebanon had been allowing cross border raids by fundamentalists into Al Anbar, and were doing nothing to prevent them from attacking border posts and military positions throughout the country. Al Anbar sent an ultimatium to Lebanon and told them to stop supporting them and turn them over or face war. Instead, the Lebanese decided to integrate them into the Lebanese Army and prepared for war. Al Anbar then crossed the border and started to take over the country about two weeks ago. Now, Al Anbar is about to declare victory.

IC:

Iraqi forces were near victory. They had seized over 95% of the country in just two weeks of light fighting. They had taken few casualities, and now stood to crush the remnants of the Lebanese Army. In Beirut, a city now blockaded for the last week in the air, sea, and land, was nearly unprotected. The President of Lebanon had been sent a new ultimatium, but once again, he refused to surrender. When reports from Mukhabarat agents within Beirut started to report that the President was preparing to leave from the Beirut International Airport on a civilian aircraft, Iraqi Republican Guard troops were quick to respond.

They moved swiftly over the ten kilometers that seperated them and the airport. After light fighting throughout the terminal complexes and airport buildings, it was seized with only 12 dead, 34 wounded, and one tank slightly damaged by an RPG round.

Now, the capital would be taken in a swift assault from both the air and land.

It was now 5:30 AM in Beirut. Air raid sirens wailed as over 250 aircraft approached the city. Minutes later, flashes from the explosions of bombs could be seen in the sky. Iraqi artillery pounded suspected Lebanese Army positions.

... An hour passes.

Over 55,000 Republican Guard troops and hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles moved up from the south, from the international airport. Some 75,000 Iraqi Army soldiers with hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles then moved from the eastern suburbs of Beirut, Al-Matn and Jabal. They all received light resistance, but they know that there would be several fierce battles as they enter the capital itself, where the loyal elements of the army and the people will attack the Iraqis, but they will not be able to stop them.

Iraqi Republican Guards have now entered "Sport City" and have seized the stadium after light fighting with Lebanese troops. Lebanese troops have taken up residence in the 'Pine Forest' and are offering stiff resistance. In the southwest, RG troops have entered the Mar Elias suburb, in the southeast, troops have entered the Badaro suburb. The Arab University has also been seized.

From the east, Iraqi troops have had little resistance. They captured the Justice Palace, Foreign Ministry and Parliament building. They have continued to advance inwards towards the central district of Beirut.

Iraqi troops are being welcomed as liberators by the civilian population in Beirut.

Iraqi forces have advanced throughout the entire city, except for the Central District of Beirut, which Iraqi troops have now blockaded. As news of the success in Beirut started to filter out, the Iraqi government announced the annexation of Lebanon as the third Governorate of Al Anbar. This joins the other two Governorates of Al Anbar - Iraq and Syria.

President Saddam Hussein gave the speech on Iraqi Television, announcing the end of the war and a transition to rebuilding the Lebanese Governorate after the war and mismanagement by former Lebanese authorities.

President Saddam said that "Lebanon joins the Arab Nation that stretches from the Shatt al Arab in the East to the Mediterranian Sea in the West."

War was avoided through a conference between Western Asian and Al Anbar diplomats, with Taipei in a meditatory role.

We thank you for your kind words. However, the Arab Socialist Republic of Al Anbar has no plans to split up the Lebanese Governorate, but will be form policies in this governorate in accordance to the different ethnicities that formulate the Governorate.

Depends on the people running the nation's communist party. You have to remember that it was the US' spy agencies that destroyed the Soviet Economy by making sure that the Russians wasted money on bad items, and having spies blow major oil pipelines and factories.
If the CIA had not done this, the USSR would still be in existence, though it would still be freer politically, the system would still be a command economy.

On religion, it depends on the nation, though most communist nations officially have religious freedom, most like china actually suppress it.

Surely one possible solution is this:

Jerusalem should be designated a neutral zone by the UN. This means no non-UN troops in it and freedom to visit it for all. The Dome of the Rock is an unfortunate case. Neutrality would suggest destroying it and leaving the site religiously neutral, but that would suggest that two wrongs make a right. Even though a temple was destroyed there, it is still wrong to destroy a mosque as well.

As for wiping the Muslims from the face of the Earth, I would expect the Jews to know better than to attempt genocide. They've had a bad time of it from just about everyone, but there's no reason to spread it around. I know about 'an eye for and eye', but it is impossible to carry this out - for instance, in retribution for the Holocaust, one would need to kill 6 million SS officers. I don't think there were EVER that many.

Any attempt to destroy the Dome of the Rock, the west wall, the fourth temple of solomon (built by LowerEgypt) or any other religious site in Israel will be attack on LowerEgyptian soverignty and we will react accordingly.

We hope this invasion of Lebanon will only be temporary, and not just an imperialist rampage.

As such, we would like to deploy two batallions of medical and civil engineering troops, the best in the world (it seems like we're the only ones who devote entire units to humanitarian causes) to assess the situation and provide infrastructure and medical care.

We would like to also, if needed, airlift in some food supplies.

Al Anbar, you're too emotionally connected to your nation and you're too much of a control freak. Face it, you might not get your way with everything. You seem to have potential, but you refuse to budge on anything. To practice, make a nation you don't care about, build it up, RP with it without worrying what happens to it. Don't let anyone know who you are. Use that same approach to every RP you get into. Then we can all have fun. :)

HS1987, learn to RP. You can't afford nukes or 14 aircraft carriers or whatever else you claim to have. You aren't a super power or even a power. You're Estonia compared to the rest of us. All that stuff will come with time, read the stickies, build up and wait. Form alliances with bigger nations, use diplomacy and guile to shape other nations actions to your liking. Also, don't go around threatening larger nations with n00kz, either they have them too, and more of them, or they'll invade you on land and pwn your ass anyways. Not to mention they have allies, who can assist with either.
