A spokesman for the Kelonian government today confirmed that, after an attack by Maasian extremists, the supreme commander of Kelonian military forces, General Salam Kabi, has died in hospital.

Gen. Kabi, an ethnic Maasian himself, was shot as he emerged from his car earlier this week, the attacker is believed to be a member of an extremist group who have repeatedly threatened Kabi due to his strong stance against terrorism, which saw him labelled a 'traitor' by groups who believed he should have been loyal to his 'ethnic roots'.

Kelonia has always been tolerant towards it's ethnic minority populations, and there has been little or no discrimination since Premier Romaninko came to power, as efforts have been made to stamp out such procedures, however there are a few extremist groups who seek to overthrow the Kelonian government.

Operatives of the VQB, Kelonia's intelligence/counter-terrorism force, are on the hunt for these terrorists and Premier Romaninko has personally visited Gen. Kabi's family to give his condolances.

General Vasily Osmovski has been appointed the new Supreme Commander of Military Forces, the post he has been temporarily filling since the assassination took place.
