Invasion of Cambodia [Serious/Good/Open]

19-03-2004, 00:10
Citing as a reason Khmer Rouge resurfacings and terrorist attacks on GS possessions, the GSA, or Greater Singapuran Army, has mobilized and landed on the Cambodian coast, quickly settup up a supply train. The forces were mobilized with utmost secrecy, and set out from the Andaman Islands about two weeks ago before landing in Cambodia. The tiny by demographic standards nation is going to be occupied by GS, cleaned of Khmer Rouge, and then returned to the contituional coalition monarchy of King Sihanouk. Singapuran army second-in-command General Zhang Yide had also stated that the Cambodian military and defense forces will be revamped.
Greater Singapura's 'stabilizing force' inside the country amounts to about 190,000 effective combatants at the moment, with further troops being mobilized and stationed on the Andaman Islands in case further assistance is needed. Singapura did not notify any nations of the attack, not even it's close neighbors and allies, who include Nianachio and United Elias.
Here is the official statement by General Zhang:

The Khmer Rouge has terrorized Cambodia and the world, including Singapura, for FAR too long. They murdered over 2 million people in their past regime, and up to another million in the resulting famies and invasions that conduct caused. We will make sure the same does not happen again. Our intent is not imperialist, or out of any desire to impose Singapuran rule upon Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge will be removed, root and branch, and then Singapura will withdraw.

The government of United Elias condones the actions of Sinagpore and we wholeheartedly support your courage in taking on oppressive regimes. However we are unsure as to whether your nation will be able to liberate Cambodia single handedly and if neccessary we can deploy forces which are based in Brunei (controlled by UE) and also Bruneian inidigenous forceswhich specialise in this type of terrain. Of course we wil only contribute military forces if they are necessary and your nation permits this.

Hattia supports these actions. Though we request that Cambodia be turned into a constitutional republic, preferably socialist instead of a monarchy. If you do this we will consider sending in troops if you request it.

definately not socialist!

Why not? :)

We said preferably. You could at least just incorporate some of the aspects of socialism. (Free health care, public schools, etc.)

OOC: In 1990 the Khmer Rouge could mobilize about 30,000 effective combatants against much larger opposition forces. I am hoping I can handle Cambodia on my own. The total population is only around 13,000,000 and tired of over 20 years of constant warfare. I'm hoping I can finish the job single-handedly.

Goh Chok Tong [nominal Prime Minister but with very strong executive powers] has profusely thanked United Elias and Hattia, but has said he will 'take a rain check' on their contributions of troops, stating the hope that Singapuran troops will be enough. Of course, if they are needed they will be called on with all haste. As for Hattia's concern over the government, the plans for Cambodia call for a constitutional monarchy, with control resting in a coalition Parliament. The monarch will have a little more power than England's queen, but not that much.

Meanwhile, on the military front, the Singapuran Army launched a lightning march through friendly southern Cambodian territory. The main trouble spots are in Western Cambodia, near the Thai border, and these are left untouched as the army prepares a great flanking movements, securing the Vietnamese border areas, Lao border areas, and coast. After this is done satisfactorily the GSA will launched the final offensive into the west, involving hundreds of thousands of Singapuran troops, will be launched and the Khmer Rouge defeated.
General Takeda Singh, who is in control of the operation, is currently opening negotiations with the various anti-Khmer Rouge factions inside Cambodia to request assistance in dealing with the Red Khmers.

OOC: Umm...I'd honestly like to know how your gonna do this considering that I have several thousand troops in Cambodia, plus full control of every major city, save Phonm Penh...

RE: Cambodia

It has com to my attention that you have landed troops in Cambodia recently. I would advise you to remove them as soon as you possibly can, as this is seen as a threat to Imitoran Marines in the area. Further, I would ask you state your purpose for attempting to move into Cambodia when it has obviously been taken already, and secured.

You are welcome to petition the Imitoran government for a colony space in Imitoran held Cambodia or Imitoran Held Vietnam, but again, it wuold be in your best intrest to remove your troops imiediately. Regards,

HAdm. Dean Winslow, ICMC High Command

In field headquarters in South and Eastern Cambodia, Imitoran Colonial Marines observed, via satalite, teh GS movement. At the moment, none of the GS forces had encoutered Imitoran Marines, however, all Marines were still on SK orders, and therefore would readily attack any GS forces tha they came into contact with.

OOC: Hmm, I was unaware of your previous placements in Cambodia. Never seen your nation before and didn't know of it's ruling of Cambodia. How do you suppose I go about this?

IC...General Takeda Singh, commander of GSA forces in Cambodia, immediately ordered a stand-down as the massive intelligence failure became apparent. No Singapuran unit was to engage any Imitoran one, and all units were to halt the advance and stop all further inroads into Cambodian territory. General Takeda ordered everyone on high alert, but not to engage any Imitoran forces.

Actually, upon further reading, I'm going to assume we live on different Earths because I do not RP with space-tech nations. You can keep Cambodia in any space-tech RP's, and my invasion can be recognized in modern-tech RP's.

OOC: Well, not really much you can do except ask for a colonial province, and hope that the government allows it. Your best course of action would be a quiet backstep. Just start pulling troops out slowly, as to not freak out any young Marines and start an international incident, and forget it ever happend. COnsider it a life lesson and all.
19-03-2004, 02:41
OOC: To Imitora, see above. You can assume that I abadon it sometime in the future you are RP'ing in. All nations who have commented so far may continue RP'ing.

Singapuran army troops quickly assumed authority over Kompong, Takeo, and Svay Rieng, all of them in the south or southeast. A major battle took place between approximately 2,000 men of the Khmer Rouge and 5,000 men in the vanguard setting up a border between Khmer Rouge territory and Singapuran-held. The northeastern road out of Koh Kong, but the heavily outgunned Khmer Rouge was easily driven back with heavy losses, with the GSA losing comparitively few. Khmer Rouge effective combat forces are placed somewhere around 70,000 fighters, who are armed mainly with rifles and a few RPG's. The GSA has bein reinforced and currently numbers about 200,000 men sporting AK-47s, riding Challenger I tanks and in the sky the standard fighters were the F-15J and Mirage 5. A further reinforcement of 20,000 native Cambodians is expected.

The Singapuran troops had just passed Phnom Penh, which was directly controlled by the Allied Cambodian army. From there a fast-moving column established GSA control of eastern and southern Cambodia. With the capture of Stung-Treng, the easy part was over. Takeda Singh now faced the daunting task of moving west from the Mekong river, cleaning out Red Khmer outposts and guerrillas The main thrusts would be three-pronged, carried out from Koh Kong, Stung-Treng and Chhnang. The GSA held it's breath as all except 5,000 of them faced their first battles against Khmer Rouge forces. Air patrols by Mirage 5 aircraft became regular, scouting out the ruined cities of Red Khmer-controlled Western Cambodia.

Finally, the order came. Great armoured columns swept west, fighting an almost-constant firefight with resisting Khmer Rouge forces, thougn never immense.
Finally, the army directly controlled by Takeda Singh cornered what seemed to be the main Red Khmer army at the western tip of the Tonle Sap Lake. In the ensuing fight, Red Khmer forces fought ferociously but in the end were easily crushed by the technologicaland numerical superiority of Singapuran arms.

Numbers were set at 28,000 for the Red Khmers and 93,000 for the GSA. With this, cristened the Battle of Pursat, fully 40% of the Khmer Rouge military force was out of action. Further confrontations at Kompong and Cheom-Ksan on the Thai border led to similar results. All in all the battles put out of actions 70% of Khmer Rouge forces. The remaining men were all withdrawing into guerrilla positions. The GSA subsequently hit the Thai border. Finally, a program called the "Clean Sweep" was initiated. Thousands of Red Khmers were in guerrila resistance. The trouble spots were put into a grid, and one by one the squares were 'sweeped' by GSA. The conquest of Cambodia was almost complete, as 50,000 more GSA poured into the wrecked nation.

At Tutong Airifeld in Brunei, all 1,472 members of the 3rd Airborne Infantry Battalion, 1st Airborne Division had their weekend passes cancelled and were ordered to make their equipment ready to deploy. Simultaneously a few Il-76s were fuelled up on the flight line as their crew awaited orders.

A flash message was immediately sent from SEACOM (South East Asia Command) to the Singaporean Generals that a force was on alert purely as a ready reserve element. After all the Elias military knew all to well that these type of operations could get messed up all too quickly.

DaKhiem, The Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol
The Central Directorature, Communist Party HQ

"The Director often spoke to me of his time in Cambodia. I did not know that the Khmer Rouge was still a viable force."

"The Director speaks of Cambodia?" Asked a cautious Sho Chiey of Secretary Hotan.

"The late Director." Hotan explained that he spoke of Kurosian I ("The Butcher of Hamhung") rather than his son, the current Director.

"Evidently these events are an extention of the renewed tide of reactionary imperialism, no different to what is happening in Gabon. Except that this time no ocean stands to protect the imperialists and their running dogs from the anger of the Drapoel masses."

Sho Cheiy supposed that direction was forthcoming and motioned the hovering young Banat lieutenant to approach from his post. Hotan did indeed have instructions to dispense.

"We must act, comrades. Contact your agents in Cambodia, have them engage the Khmer Rogue on possible Republican assistance. You are authorised to deploy further agents at your discretion.

"Offer arms, training either in Cambodia, here in Dra-pol, or perhaps in one of Cambodia's neighbours."

Hotan called another minor secretary to the subterran office and began to speak of Chinese, Lao, Vietnamese, and Burmese agents and contacts.

As Sho Cheiy and his lieutenant left with the consular secretary Hotan brought in yet more bureaucrats and brought up all manner of things from the Red Bamboo to People's Army tunneling engineers.

In short the CPRD's infamous Banat was attempting to contact Khmer Rogue elements in Cambodia with the intention of offering the Republic's aid in resisting the imperialists.

(ooc:Yeah, you have to accept that NS is a multiverse. Nothing would ever get done otherwise- Dra-pol is North Korea, but plenty of other people want to use the region for RP. Andaman and Nicobar is a NS country that could wipe-out Greater Singapura in minutes, and so on and so forth.)
