The Armed Forces of the Republic found that the aging F-111 bombers currently in service were obsolete after two wings were shot down by Stinger missiles.

In response to this development, Project Claw was born. Tyrandis Military Systems was commissioned to design a bomber that could be as fast as any fighter at altitude and untouchable at low level. Also, the plane needed to be able to carry heavy payloads, including nuclear weapons.

The brilliant engineers of the defense contractor came up with the TSB-8 "Talon" Strike Bomber to meet all of these demands.

Advanced HUD System
The pilot has the latest in HUD displays, simultaenously tracking targets, weapon delivery, Doppler navigation system, radar, and ECM. Also, the advanced radar allows for automatic terrain following.

Air Intake System
Complex but effcient, the intake system has auxiliary doors in the duct walls, opening and closing at different speeds to adjust engine airflow as necessary.

Manuverability and Speed
The TSB-8 is a STOL craft, despite its large size. This was accomplished through the inclusion of wingflaps on the tips.

The short wings with its anhedral tips are ideal for fast, low-level operations, combining low drag with good gust response.

Heavy Firepower
TSB-8's twin 27mm cannons are integrated with the radar system. The pilot needs only "lock-on" to the target and then squeeze the trigger. The cannon automatically tracks from data sent by the radar.

The TSB-8 can carry virtually any Air To Ground or Air To Sea weapon, whether it be bombs or torpedoes. However, the TSB-8D interceptor variant is capable of equipping Phoenix long-range air-to-air missiles as well.

50 mm!? thats huge for an aircraft, if its a bomber why do you need such a large cannon?

The cannon is primarily used as a defense weapon against enemy aircraft. Also, if the bomber has expended all ammunition and there are still hostile targets active, the cannon is used.

wow, not the prettiest thing on the market...

but relatively original nonetheless

Ze Shwagmeister is in the process of creating a deadly air assault force, and this bomber looks perfect for our purposes. we would like to purchase 100 of these bombers. $4.8 billion will be wired on confirmation.

The cannon just seems excessively big for an aircraft. That gun is bigger than a Bradely's. In my opinion its just too big.

Ze Shwagmeister: Order has been confirmed, and the planes are en route to your nation.

Anarresa: Feh. Who cares if the gun's excessively large? Aside from that, gratuitous overkill = :)

OOC:

The gun is too big to be feasible, it otherwise looks good. I <3 the TSR. 2 so you get bonus points there. If I was building a fantasy early 60s air force it would have the TSR.2 and the CF-105 Arrow Mk. II for sure.

Stick with a multi-barrel 30mm cannon, or twin 27mm Mausers.

OOC: Yeah, the range would suffer quite a bit from the large shell.... I'll switch to twin 27mm Mauser cannons instead.

But you can make it a 35 mm cannon and it can still do that, its just f*cking big

I, Emperor Jake of Cassopia, will take fifty of your airships, and will give a thirty-five per cent bonus if you can install anti-anti-aircraft missiles on them.

err....maybe im mistaken....do those even exist?

The Mauser has a rediculously high rate of fire for a single barrel cannon. Any 50mm cannon fitted would have a low rate of fire as well as be lacking in velocity. The twin 27s would kill anything more effectively then a single weak 50mm cannon.

Cassopia: Anti-anti-aircraft missiles? I think you mean electronic countermeasures and flares to stop missiles from destroying the plane... those features come standard.
