International Space Colony(COMPLETE)

Scellia
17-03-2004, 16:34
Scellia is looking for an international partners for a new and ambitious project, a true city is space. Up til now the number of modern nations with space station have been limited to dozens of people, at most hundreds. Yet the next step in space colonization has yet to be taken, possibly because of the enormity of the task, and the resources required. Scellia is asking support of the international community, for this will benefit them too, the first colony is space.

Sc-2 Space Colony

http://www.kurotokage.org/2300AD/Shintenchi/Images/bernal.jpg

Costs: $10,000,000 per person

Revenue: $100,000,000 per 1,000 people

Growth Rate: 2% from onboard population, 1% from immigration

Total Growth Rate: 3%

Length: 2,300m

Average Width: 690m

Size increase per 100,000 additional occupants: 300m*90m

Minimum Station Cost: $10,000,000,000,000

Minimum Contribution: $10,000,000,000

The Sc-2 is a massive orbital complex meant to house up to 1,000,000 people, but also provide the industry for them to work. The 1 Million is flexable, if a country donates pure to contruction then no population is added but the station is much nearer to completion. The automation found in space factories means that the amout of products produced per person is massively greater then on Earth. The increase in population comes at nearly no additional cost, as most of the infrastructure is laready in place to accept them. Eventually the population of the station will grow to the point that you make back your original investment, and continue to grow after that. Massive ground based cannons can fire most of the equipment up, the main cost of the station is material and moving all the people up there cheaply. Advances from the X-prize competition have helped to defray these costs, but a minimum size must be reached or else the station will not be functional. We are looking for nations who are interested, and how many people they want on the station.

Population Growth Increase Systems

Fertilization Hormones: Hormones released into water supply of your section of the station make the people more fertile and likely to give birth. +2% Growth, $1,000,000,000

Artificial Insemination: Women are artificially inseminated. +2% Growth, $2,000,000,000

Family Planning: Encourages people to have large families and provides centers to take care of children. +1% Growth, $1,000,000,000

Propaganda: Incourages people to raise personal funds to become a space based citizen, increases immigration to station by +2%.

-Doujin: $2,000,000,000,000

Total Project Yield: 6.6 Trillion>66%
Total People: 105,000(Unknown amount for Doujin)

NOTE: The station will have defensive but not offensive weapons, and if your country suffers a catastrophic diasaster the station will allow you to start afresh and continue. Also, any contribution purely to contruction will build twice as much station as ones that are expected to pay for population as well, and will be counted as such.
Muktar

Muktar will invest 100,000,000,000 Credits in the project.
Phoenixius
17-03-2004, 17:18
Phoenixius wishes to also put $100,000,000,000 towards this project. We ourselves are looking to create a space station worthy to be called home by people, and so can gain considerable insight into the construction and transportation processes involved.

Perhaps we can offer our services? Single-peice fused regolith spheres now going for only 3 Ounces of Platinum per square meter of surface area! Perfect for Bernal Colonies!

Added the two people so far, Spacers Guild, what is Regolith? And is it modern tech?
Spacer Guilds
17-03-2004, 23:19
OOC: Regolith is all the loose rock and dust that makes up the surface, and sometimes all of, an asteroid or a planetary/moon crust. And all Guild tech is based on real-life designs- in this case, one formulated by NASA at about the same time they came up with the Island colony designs, one of which you have imaged above. The idea is that you drill to the center of an asteroid and fill it with canisters of water/methane/[choose a gas], then use solar reflectors to melt the asteroid. The regolith fuses together, and the expanding water vapor blows it up to a usable size before the whole thing cools into a perfect sphere of rock.
Scellia
18-03-2004, 04:07
OOC: I don't think that will work for this, sounds feasible though, like a hollowed out astroid.

Scellia is now expanding the space station to include shipyards, since half the cost of many ships are in the construction, and the satellites have to survive a short while on Earth. The shipyards can halve or quarter the cost of a starship, making them much more avalible then currently.

The Commonwealth of Erectobia will invest $20,000,000,000 toward this project as a step towards peaceful change in our government.

Muktar would like to clarify that our previous donation is annually yearly (NS year).
Scellia
18-03-2004, 05:01
Erectobia, that is over half your national budget and would bankrupt your nation, are you sure that you want to continue? Muktar, I go by your GDP is what you can spend total, and population increases let you continue spend more. That way larger nations won't have hundreds of trillions of dollars in their militaries with just 10-15% of GDP in it.

Austar Union
19-03-2004, 06:16
The Republic of Austar Union is interested in the venture, and would like to see a population of Austarians put into space. However, we would be thinking about making our sector more of a holiday place. We will require more information, as to the administration etc of this station...
Muktar
19-03-2004, 06:17
Hmm, I guess this look like a good thing to do we will do 50 billion toward this.

Can you afford that?
19-03-2004, 06:22
Waht could we possibly do to help, if we may be so polite to ask?
Scellia
19-03-2004, 06:32
Austar Union: A ruling Commitee composed of the nations represented head by Scellia, number of representitves will depend on number of people in the station.

Sezeria: OK, it is 10% your budget but hey, it's your money.

Nodea Rudav: If you wish you could buy I section of the space colony, as I remember you ae seeking to become an Earth power, and where better then from space.

19-03-2004, 06:41
Indeed I could build a part of the Space Colony Station, but what should I look for when building, how should I build it? All that stuff?
Scellia
19-03-2004, 06:43
Austar Union: Expensive it is, but remember, eventually the profits from the station will exceed your start up cost. If we don't get enough in the way of nations money then all nations get full refunds.

Fluffywuffy: I assume that by donate you mean buy a 1 trillion dollar portion?

Nodea Rudav: Scellia will take care of most of the building, all we need is people to purchase portions so that we will have the nessesary funds to build the thing.
Fluffywuffy
19-03-2004, 06:49

Scellia
19-03-2004, 07:16
Seeing as the total cost of the station is 10 trillion any extra money is appreciated, but to get colonist on the station we ask a minimum, or else any new country could put ten people up and demand an entire section. It would double to triple station costs.
Anarresa
19-03-2004, 07:46
We would like to donate 400,000,000,000 to the construction as well as 301,000,000,000 to buy 30,000 personal slots on the station + the family planning growth enhancer.

That totals at 701 billion
400 billion donation for construction
301 billion for 30,000 people with growth enhancer

I wish to purchase the Fertilisation Hormone thing. $1,000,000,000

We also wish to put $100,000,000,000 towards the construction costs, in an offer of good will.
Scellia
19-03-2004, 19:20
OK, let me put you down for it. I'm going to count pure construction donations as double the amount they are, this is because the money will be used to expand the program with no particular goals, thus making it able to build twice as much as money reserved for population and industry.

Anarresa
20-03-2004, 05:24
We would like to contribute an aditionial 200,000,000,000 to constuction and an additionial 201,000,000,000 to buy more of the station (assuming that the propaganda costs 1 billion) We also stated that we want the family planning package, not the hormones. We are against giving citizens the hormone therapy without their consent.
Doujin
20-03-2004, 05:51
Scellia, Doujin will allocate 2 trillion dollars towards this space station. However, if this ends up a fluke it will be on your head.
Doujin
20-03-2004, 05:57
I also expect to have fertilization hormones, family planning, and propaganda. And a shipyard to construct "construction vessels" to build sattelites and other platforms in space. (That seems to going beyond my tech level but I don't know. If you want more money it will take a little bit longer, I don't want to deplete my surplus funds further.)
Scellia
20-03-2004, 08:26
Doujin: Thank you, and a fluke this will not be. The Scellian economy has been gearing fo rthis effort for the last five years and we are throughly prepared. I will most definately put you down for 2 trillion, would you please specify where you want it to go. I.E. how much to shipyards etc. also this is for all modern tech nations interested. Chemical rocket and the like are being used, and the high price tag is the result.

Anarresa: We will chnage this immediatly and add you additional order.
Pyro Kittens
20-03-2004, 08:48
Pyro Kittens will contribute $100 Billion plus another $50 Billion toward construction, and when can we expect to see this thing done by?
Doujin
20-03-2004, 08:55
Scellia, consider the rest funded. Over the next 4 years, Doujin will supply the rest of the 4.4 trillion needed. Effectively, we want a measure of control over the system at large as we are going to be the main funders. *sigh* Scellia, I oughta kill you for getting me into this -.-
Scellia
20-03-2004, 08:57
Most definately, for being the main benefactor of the station you will co-chair the Council and have the biggest say. Contruction will begin immediatly, I will post the final station stats soon.

20-03-2004, 08:59

OK, I'll add them to your total and the money to the cost. At this point we cannot accept new nation into this program, the station is being built and it is specified for a certain amount of people. For the nations already involved, Scellia asks for you to hold off on putting nay more people up, it iwll be signficantly cheaper to wait until construction is finished and won't be as disruptive.

New Systems
The orbiter fleet of Q-33's left over from construction is now ready to begin expansion operations. The new citizens will earn as much as the rest of your nations, just very well off and with higher standards of living. Also the new portions of the station won't have the growth increasing agents found on other portion of the station. Thus this is like moving portions of your nations to space. The station will be built with the orignal at the center and shells added for each new amount of people. This could become the size of a small moon after decades of builing up. All our entire could end up, up there.

Q-33's: 200
Space Avalible: Unlimited
Maximum Unit Cost: $500,000
(1 Unit=1 Person)

Unit Cost Assesment
1,000 Units: $500,000,000
10,000 Units: $3,000,000,000
100,000 Units: $20,000,000,000
1,000,000 Units: 100,000,000,000
5,000,000 Units: 300,000,000,000

The stations industry can support only 5,000,000 units per year so the amount ordered will take several years to complete. Also the defenses will increase as will the size, the size at +100m in each dimension per 500,000 people.

I believe about 55-65% of the station, could be more but that is about right. Your populations is more by about 15 million out of 27 Million so you have the most people by nearly the same percent.
