Also our intelligence people have found a living heir to the throne…Though he may be a bastard child…Royal blood still courses through his veins as such when he is ready he shall take up the reins of our mighty nation…And lead us to greatness as his family has done for countless generations. Tonight I have news of a glorious nature…As you all know 50 years ago our Archon’s Father wisely sought out a new place for his people. 1st he brought us into the Space age…then he proceeded to build us our 1st Orbital base….Which was sadly delayed when he succumbed to illness. Since that time his son has continued his great work and completely revamped it into the orbiting Starbase which sits above us today. He also implemented a bill to begin construction on our 1st extra solar system ships. Since that time we have sent out explorer ships to look for a new home for us amongst the stars. 25 yrs ago our scientist caste spotted a globular cluster on a deep space radio telescope. So we sent several explorer ships to investigate…Within 2 yrs they found a Prime World for our Initial Colony and some Colonial Engineers were dispatched to begin construction on a suitable colony

We soon decided to begin construction on a trio of massive colony ships. These ships have just been completed. They are designed to hold up to 150,000 in stasis, these ships are massive, and measuring some 5.9km in length, the 1st ship is being loaded as I speak with the 1st group of colonist now along with enough material to sustain them for 5 yrs at their new colony. Due to their size these colony ships will take up to a year to reach their new home

You wouldn't be able to afford that, and even if you could you didn't role-play out the development and construction of the ship - you just pulled it out of your ass, effectively. That is called godmodding, and you sir are godmoding. Rethink your "strategy" for NationStates, please.

I shall have you know that this is our only ship which is in excess of 40 meters of length, and since you undoubtedly know that our country demands military service, we have a standing army of 1 million. THis force is placed almost entirely on our one battleship. We can spare it, as there is no foreseeable need for it. We have spent much of our resources and it was only possible with the HELP OF OUR ALLIES, namely the Underwater Assylum. With their financial assistance we were able to sub-contract out. This is the appitomy of our military, the best we have. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Hello today at 9am a suicide bomber drove a truck into the Matich Embassy in VL. Luckly the Embassy was heavily protected because of the recent attacks and only 6 Marines were killed. Our CIA has done a great job and we do know who is behind these attacks but for security reasons we cannot name them at this time. Also our Coast Guard today stopped a vessel searched it and found RPGs, AKs, and C4 explosives. Also six terrorists were taken into custody and they are being held at an unnamed location. That is all for now.

He is 100% right. You should have a total military of like maybe a total military if you were in a major war 500,000 total. My military is only about 1% of my pop and it is still huge.

OOC: You will have to figure economy into this. Any more than 5% of your population, and your economy will be pretty horrible. Not enough people working in the factories means you're a third-world country.

China's average population income is also in the hundreds per month, most likely low thousands per year. China could be considered a third-world country in that regard. Only reason why China is kept going economically wise is because many companies are outsourcing jobs their because people work for such low wages and then export it out of China.. They also aren't very advanced, they just had their first space launch with a human not to long ago.. couple years right? about 40 years behind the rest of the world..

China has a population of roughly 1.2 billion, the military was 2.5 million. Though recently they have made innovations in the military structure and begun a modernization process. The military of the Peoples Republic of China is now about 2.2 million MEN AND WOMEN and its going to shrink to about 2 million. Now, heres the thing. The United States, a nation of about 240 million people has a combined armed forces of 1.6 million MEN AND WOMEN as well, and believe it or not its a serious drain on the economy of the nation, where as its not so much so with China. Your nations of 9 Million would not easily be able to maintain an armed forces of 1 million MEN AND WOMEN easily...hell, they wouldn't even be able to cover the cost for more than a few months. Its best just to take a percentage point that is less than 1% of your population and use that as your military.

Anyhow, I was distracted. Great post Verboten, if you ever swing by Mars your people are welcome to stay in my nation.
