Doujinshi Corporation, amid mass orders of new vessels, requires a large ammount of steel to build them. We are looking for contracts, to buy a set ammount of steel each year.. and a large ammount of steel now to get us started.

For half a million metric tons of steel we will only pay $301,000,000 - assuming its galvanized steel. If it is not, then we do not want it.

(Prices for galvanized steel in the US West Coast is / was $602 per metric ton as of May 9th, 2003 Not absolutely sure if this is the stuff I want, but I am assuming it is.)

OOC:
I don't think it is, to be honest for a sophsiticated defense contractor like yourself you would be better buyign your own pig iron and then smleting and hardening the steel to exactly the specs you require.

That, apparently, would make it cheaper.. price for a metric ton of pig-iron exported from Brazil is $150-155

It might work out slightly mroe expensive once you take processing costs into cosnideration, but a bonus would be that you could control exactly the type of steel and the various levels of hardening required. To be honest for warship construction it is far better to fabricate your steel on site and as required from scratch than to have to produce it and then reporcess it (like the japanese did in ww2, the yamoto was only possible as they produced all the steel on site) its not as much of an issue in these days of rapid transport links but centralisation does still bring efficency...

There might still be a case for importing partially processed steel if it is possible (i don't know enough to make about the market for that).

As for price try looking up indian or russian steel as it is IIIRC a fair bit cheaper than US (despite it's massive subsidies) or western steel, although saying that brazilian stuff should be reasonable as a mid point. It can be a real pain tryign to find prices on metal isn't.
