BAGHDAD, AL ANBAR - Iraqi Airways, the national airline of Al Anbar, has released a press statement stating that they are looking to "expand internationally, into countries that do not support the enemies of Al Anbar or the Zionist entity."
Since the first Gulf War in 1991, the Iraqi Airways had been on shakey ground. It suspended flights until 2000, when it decided to reopen service in Iraq to Mosul, al-Basra, and Baghdad. The majority of Iraqi Airways aircraft were destroyed by the bombing during the second Gulf War in 2003, and the Iraqi Airways had once again suspended airflights. After the union of Iraq and Syria, however, and the formation of Al Anbar, Iraq took over the entire inventory of Syrian civilian planes and put them into service in the Iraqi Airways.
It returned to servicing the skies of Al Anbar on September 2, 2003. It flew to Baghdad, Damascus, al-Halab, al-Basra, Mosul, Kirkuk, and several other cities throughout Al Anbar. Prices for a flight from Baghdad to Damascus only costs $43 USD, about 22.5 Iraqi Dinars. The average Iraqi family now makes $19,500 USD.
