13-03-2004, 19:25
"Today at 3:14 PM, President Otbi and his cabinet were gunned down at the Socialist Liberal Democratic Party convention. He suffered 3 bullet wounds, 1 to the bladder, 1 to the left lung and 1 to the stomach. The assassian killed 5, (Vice President Malroy, Secretary of State Jil, Secretary of Defense Hilroid, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ikvanov, and Secretary of Internal Affairs Jacvon) and wounded 17, President Otbi and several prominent candidates being among them. The assassian was arrested, however he died of internal bleeding in transit. Several other terrorist actions against the SLDP have occured today including the bombing of the FDIA building in Gyug city.

The abductions of Senator Jofsen and Congressman Cyrill, both of which are candidates in the upcoming SLDP nominations, occured this morning at 8:12 AM. The Nationalist Imperial Party has claimed responsiblity for these attacks."

Secretary of State Acheson took out a cigarette and lit it."There's not much I can say, other than, President Otbi doesn't look good. The future of the SLDP doesn't look good either."
Secretary of Internal Affairs Chakom starting speaking,"So, what do we do about the NIP?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
"There's nothing we can do, the military is in chaos right now, General Hortz was killed by a rogue soldier who was a supporter of the NIP. The police have been shut down because of the riots in Tyu, Gyug City and Chacl."
"Well, what are there terms anyway?"
"None, other than the complete surrender of the government to the NIP."
"So, our options are surrender or try and reorganize a chaotic military and a broken FDIA structure and fight a civil war against the NIP. Is that correct?"
Acheson just nodded his head.
The room fell silent, the smoke from Acheson's cigarette drifting up towards the ducts.
"I could do that," Secretary of Defense Chilken spoke up.
"Alright then, there's really nothing else we need to talk about, meeting adjourned."

Galdania

Galdania pledges full support of the SLDP.

We will be sending forces to seize the nation, weather or not we are invited. It is imperitive that fascists not be allowed to control anything.

The sun rose over the horizon at Tyu. Churin Kalinn took a sip from a bottle of whiskey he'd found after the riots. Churin was a Lieutenant under Lt. Colonel Jakal. Jakal had mobilized to Tyu although his superior, Maj. General Kassken had ordered him not to. In fact most of the Generals supported the NIP, although it was commonplace for many of the Colonels to support the SLDP. After Hortz's death the other 3 joint chiefs of staff were too worried about bureucracy to mobilize. Jakal knew, depending on which side won, he'd be promoted or executed. Churin sorted through the things he and his platoon had found: A homemade arsenal, an Ichiman black box, tape recorders (video and audio), and some photos. Churin looked at the photos.

"Something is eerily quiet and surreal about these pictures." Churin stood up and looked over the cement staircase chunk they had been using as a barricade. It was just like the photos, eerily quiet and surreal. The morning sky was pink, orange and yellow. The buildings, were empty, destroyed and devoid of life. Churin did not step out, but he did took out his pistol. He took an aimed shot at a bird in the sky. The bullet was let loose from the pistol and hit the bird. The bird fell from the sky. It dropped on the ground. Churin slumped back down just in time to see a bullet come through the window. It shattered the window and pieces of the glass fell on the floor. The private closest to the window picked up his rifle and began to aim.
"Stop," Churin told him, "They're within hearing distance, but not seeing distance, they're using a scope to aim."
The private rested back on the floor. Out of the original 40 men he had been assigned and had come on this mission, 13 had been wounded and 2 killed. The wounded could still fight, but were primarily left to keep up a steady fire if a retreat was needed. Churin looked around outside, the bullet had come in at a slope and through the right side of the window. He looked to his right, a laundromat and a automobile factory stood. The automobile factory was the only thing big enough to make the bullet come in at a slope.
"Alright men, were moving out, going towards the automobile factory."
Churin and his platoon picked up their rifles and went down the stairs. They walked through the door and into the streets of Tyu.

A man ran through the halls of the newly established FDIA building in Jik
province. The same problems as the army had been pestering the FDIA, with Ivkanov gone, and Chakom to be too worried about bureucracy, it had gotten nowhere. However Chilken had done what he'd promised and restructured the FDIA. Chilken had also suggested that Acheson and Prime Minister Otbi (Nephew of President Otbi) allow the Undersecretary of State, Sicilim to take Chakom's place. That is the exact man who was running down the halls, he burst into Chakom's office.
"(pant)Sir, the NIP, they've (pant) gotten hold of (pant) the KF/B-1!"
Chakom looked utterly terrified at this, already too inept to start a professional war with the NIP, the lose of the KF/B-1 would result in mass hysteria.
"Well, sir what do you suggest we do?" said Sicilim, straighting up his posture and catching his breath.
Chakom looked around, the NIP had the support of industrialists, generals and senators in the country. "I suggest we. . .um . . ." He thought for a minute, "I suggest we make you Secretary of State."
Sicilim had a strange look of bewilderment and pride in his face, "Me, sir?"
"Yes, you."
"But, don't you need to file the resignation forms and declare publicly my inauguration?"
"Er. . . yes that would be the case but since it's a time of civil havoc, we can skip the whole process."
"Well, ok. . ."
Chakom packed up his papers in less than five minutes and left the office covering a smirk.
3 hours later however, the resignation was official. Prime Minister Otobi, Secretary of State Acheson and Secretary of Defense Chilken presided over the resignation of Chakom and the inauguration of Sicilim. Chakom sat there thunderstruck, mumbling curses.

"My first step as Secretary of Internal Affairs is to support Galdanian help."
"I have decided, as Minister of Defense, to support Galdanian operations in our country."
"As Secretary of State, I will support Galdanian military occupation to restore civil service."
The TV blared in the home of widower Jaqueline Kalinn. Her 4 year old son, Yassef tugging on her apron. She had just had the call this morning and was shocked. Churin had died after a bloody ambush in Tyu. She had cried when she'd gotten the call. She sat there watching the TV. Jacqueline had been raised in NIP supportive family, so she could find no comfort in calling home. The best she could hope for in a call home was her mother answering the phone, drunk, saying "You married a damn fool, Jackie, why couldn't you have just married some factory owner or a senator?" It rang through her head, it's what she'd been told after she called home on their wedding day. She got out her things and packed up her and Yassef's things, not knowing or caring where she was going.
