Annexation of Mauritius and other islands from overcrowding.

OOC: Trying to keep this peaceful. Serious RP.

Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong of the Armed Republic of Greater Singapura has announced yesterday the annexation of the islands of Mauritius, followed by a chain of Indonesian islands surrounding Singapore. The reasons? Overcrowding on an unimaginable scale in the previously owned land of Singapore Island and it's surrounding islets. The capacity allowed on Singapore Island to be safe is 6.5 million people. There are almost 25 million. Hundreds of thousands of people scurry to buy tickets to the annexed land, where they hope to get away from overcrowding. Thousands of Singapuran troops are moving into the claimed land to ensure the safety of the arriving civilians. They are being delayed until the Singapuran claims are recognized and any outcry dealt with. Previous negotiations were held with the leader of Mauritius and the governor (not the Indonesian leader, who I understand is Nianachio) before troops arrived and took over. Possible extension of Singapuran claims is a prospect.

Specific Islands Annexed: Mauritius, Reunion, Tromlin, Andaman islands, Cocos Islands. Islands directly east of West Malaysia (directly west of Borneo. In RL these are Indonesian.)

So rather than solve the problem of overcrowding at home, you're just going to expand your borders and take what you want to suit your needs?

We could just shoot all 19 million people making our nation dangerous instead.

Perhaps you have a better idea?

How big is your Nation? Like 1 KM Squared? Build up not out!

Yes, place better controls on your people. Increase funding to sexual education and promote birth control, cull your numbers before they get out of hand.

Oh, and another thing, get off those islands before we force you off. That is all.

Uh, yes, Singapore Island is what we previously owned. The entire thing, as one big supercity, can support 6.5 million people safely. We have 25 million. Our numbers are already WAY out of hand. To bring down our population by 19 million people is simply not possible.

Also, forcing us out of these islands? You could probably do it with ease. But why expend the effort on a few, tiny, Indian Ocean islands, which are not useful or densely settled by anyone meaningful. It's not like I annexed China or something. You resort to threats far too quickly.

I must concur with Greater Singapura, this is the only option left open to it at the moment.

However, Singapura should take the steps to control its population recommended by Aequatio, so that no further annexations such as this are necessary.

Good Idea. Immediate curbing of the massive population trend, along with reclamation of land around the new additions to Singapura will be implemented as long as we don't get massive Aequatian armies coming at us.

Ad campaigns, and the Aequation methods mentioned above will be implemented, but we will not resort to Chinese-like draconian policies such as race discrimination.

Meanwhile.....

The ok was given, and millions of GS citizens, escorted by military aircraft, begin landing on the various annexed islands. Approximately 42% are going to Mauritius, the largest of the annexed territories, while the rest are scattered about among the rest of the newly acquired areas.

OOC: Anyone else disputing my annexation of the islands?

We like those islands. They are good for...something, I'm sure. Please reconsider your recent annexations.
OOC: The people could move to the islands and register for Resident status while keeping their Greater Singapura citizenship.

Hah, we here at the FESN were annexing islands before it was trendy!
